Naomi

Before I can protest again, the two Cals holding me down pull my legs apart as wide as they will go to the point of pain. Cal rips my underwear off, tugging my skirt up to bunch around my hips. “My my my little pet you're soaked,” he nudges, his breath against my skin as I try to squirm free of his hold. Fuck. Even the breath of his skin against my core is enough for my body to be begging for it. One thick digit runs through my folds as we all listen to the slickness of my core.

It’s mortifying and yet I can’t bring the words out to make him stop. I look up at the dark black celling there isn’t even a bulb here just two tiny glass windows by the stairs casting the only light in the cellar the lumpy mattress digs into my back as Cal teases me with his thick fingers until my pussy is basically begging him to enter. “I might make you watch more often. If this is how you will react.” He taunts as I cringe, thinking please don’t.

Then he slips two fingers inside of me and despite my

NaomiWhen I eventually stir awake, I’m still in the dark cellar under the house. It must be coming up to nighttime if the deepening shadows from the high, narrow window are anything to go by. A dull, throbbing ache pulses between my legs, and Cal’s scent lingers on my skin and in the musty air, suggesting he departed not long ago. Why did he leave me down here?I smooth my dress, brushing off the grit and dust as I sit up, trying to make sense of my surroundings. There is something about Cal that, when I’m with him, the entire world falls away. When he is gone, even my bones ache with longing. I have never felt this way before… not even when I met my mate and the bond between us sparked to life. It’s unsettling, to say the least.I drag my heavy limbs up to stand, my legs shaking, nearly giving way from the pounding Cal had just given me. The dim cellar around me is a world of shadows, the air thick with the smell of damp earth and old wood. Without my wolf, everything looks darker an

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 16

CalyxAfter leaving Naomi to sleep after she passed out, I headed back to my office. My footsteps echoed through the dimly lit corridor, the cool stone walls pressing in around me. The air was thick with the scent of old books and the faint, acrid tang of magic. I didn’t know what had come over me, but the idea of her trying to leave had made me snap. I needed her to stay for more reasons than one. It wasn’t just about the ritual—there was more to this. A lot more. I just had to hope it wasn’t the toxins tainting my magic, driving me to do this.Tobin had called me up to deal with an urgent matter before Odette barged into my office, an amused smirk playing on her lips. She closed the door silently, standing in the corner of my office. The soft rustle of her clothes and the rhythmic tapping of her foot added an edge to the tense atmosphere. Before I could ask what she wanted, Naomi burst through the door, slamming it into the wall with a resounding whack. Her eyes were wide and wild a

NaomiMy heart raced as I scrambled off the plush carpet of Calyx’s office and slipped out the door. I could see the faint reflection of my own panicked expression in the polished wooden door as I slipped out. I could still hear their voices echoing down the hall, but I didn’t dare look back. I wasn’t going to be caught in the crossfire of their toxic love affair. The white walls seemed to close in on me like a claustrophobic nightmare. Odette’s cunning manipulation had already left scars, and I was not willing to subject myself for another round of her dangerous games. As my hands gripped the railing, I could feel the wood digging into her skin, a sharp contrast to the smoothness of Cal’s member. Despite the searing pain in my throat and overwhelming humiliation, I couldn’t resist the burning desire to suck Cal’s cock. With every step down the stairs, my heart raced as I prayed that the other two members of our coven were nowhere in sight. The musty scent of the coven’s old house lin

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 18

NaomiI nod and smile at Bernard as we drive down the winding road towards the bay. I shift in my seat uncomfortably as he continues to stretch his weathered hand over to pat my knee. “Is it okay if I drop you here, Neave?” Bernard the old man asks me as I smile and nod. It’s not near the Mermaid Inn, but I didn’t want him to know where I was heading. He seems like a nice enough man. I’m grateful that I had given him a fake name when we met, not wanting to reveal my true destination - the Mermaid Inn.“Thank you, Bernard for all of your kindness,” I tell him, opening the car door. I can feel his lingering gaze on my backside. I roll my eyes and step out of the car. “Anytime Neave … if you need a friend in the city, let me know,” I slam the car door shut behind me, giving him a little wave as I start walking down through the bustling streets of Bloodmoon Bay. It’s early morning here, which means the streets are mostly safe. There is a mix of species that live in the bay. For all its bea

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 19

NaomiAfter the first decent night's sleep in too long, I dragged myself downstairs packing what little I had left here. I would miss the Mermaid Inn. It had been my refuge in a time when I felt I had less than nothing. Now with my few meager possessions, the crisp salty air seeing the waves crash out the window. I finally felt ready for my next stop.I waited in the bar for Jasper. I wanted to thank him for everything he had done for me. No one had shown me this kind of kindness when I had nothing to offer in return. I had no money or status here, like back home. Just me and even then I brought more trouble than I was worth. I heard his heavy footsteps creak against the ground as he rushed down the stairs.“Naomi,” he seemed surprised to see me. Did he think I would fight him on this and beg to stay? I’ll admit it had crossed my mind, but when I really thought about it … I couldn’t refuse. “I wanted to say goodbye before I left and thank you for everything you have done for me. I know

NaomiI stared a little unsure, as Hilda told me some far-fetched tale. Still, I listened, not wanting to be rude. I was certain if I cut her off, then she would refuse my request. “What does this have to do with … me?” she smiled shrewdly, tilting her head to the side as I light breeze flittered through the porch. I eyed my lemonade, my throat feeling dry, before I decided to be brave enough to take a sip. After the way she frightened me to death, I was certain if she wanted to do something to me, she wouldn’t simply poison me with lemonade.I took a sip; the bubbles tingling my tongue as the sweet cloudy drink trickled down my throat. It was surprisingly good. “There is a rumour of a coven having been marked for darkness. The only way to cure a rogue bite is to kill the rogue whose venom runs in their veins. What makes this tricky is … you need to know what the wolf looks like in human form. But all rogues have a scent.” She wrinkled my nose at me as I shuffled in my seat. I wasn’t

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 21

NaomiMy heart thundered. He had found me, but I’m certain it had been more than 24 hours. I had been counting the time as it went back as I had left Hilda. His strong hands encircled me as I looked up into those dark, deep eyes. Every time I saw Cal, I would be reminded of how handsome he was. It wasn’t fair his good looks were already a spell that pulled me under. He didn’t need magic to entice me. His intoxicating, musky scent wrapped around me like an erotic shroud. Every note bearing the weight of pure male dominance was enough to have me struggling to form a coherent thought.“Did you think I wouldn’t notice you sneaking out?” His words, so rich and rough, seemed to find a straight path between my thighs, sending ripples of uncontrolled desire throughout my body. I swallowed, pulling out of his hold, his tattooed arms flexing under my touch as he looked at me with raven-dark hair slicked back over his forehead. The intricate moving images on his skin were a tantalising sight, dr

NaomiGoddess, this was a dangerous game. I was certain the spell had gone as I felt more control in my actions rather than feeling as if Cal was the one pulling the strings, but that didn’t stop my body from hungering for the same result. We wanted Cal, and we wanted him badly. My head swam with all the questions I wanted answers to. I needed to word them carefully, but so far my plan to use Cal’s spell against his was working. I squirmed against him, making sure I rubbed against his cock just right. His eyes heated men could be so predictable I should have tried this from the start. I suppressed the smirk threatening to show on my face. I was sure he would catch on to what I was doing in that case and I needed his guard still lowered. I let out a soft moan, not entirely forced, but it seemed to do the trick.“What exactly is this favour?” I asked softly, whilst stroking one finger up and down his chest. He pushed me back into the wall, caging me in his need for me growing. I could s

  • My Unexpected Mate   Authors Note

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to all of my lovely readers who have stuck with me until the end of this book. This novel has taken a darker turn than I had initially planned, and I apologize for not providing enough trigger warnings. My intention was never to cause distress to any of my readers with the content in some of the chapters. I truly believe that Naomi's journey needed this darkness for her to grow and fight for her own future. I am aware that there are still several unanswered questions at the end of this book, and it was always meant to be a shorter novel. However, it also serves as a set-up for the rest of the Mated Series books. If you continue reading, you will find answers to these questions. For those who wish to know more about Naomi and a few details about Addison, they can be found in "Mated To My Promised Alpha." Naomi's journey has been a challenging one, and while she may not fit into the classic hero or "good" character mold, I was hesita

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 82

Naomi 2 years later The smoke of burnt herbs billowed in the small corner of the library in Greyclaw Ridge, where I had holed myself up. I rocked baby Addison in my arms, watching as she slept, taking in each one of her perfect features. A single tear rolled down my cheek as I cradled her, my little angel. The herbs burned like grains in an hourglass, signaling that I didn’t have much time left. I kissed her soft cheeks and delicate forehead. “My baby, if only you knew how much I love you.” Her little eyes fluttered open, and she smiled—a big, bright smile that tugged at my heart. I smiled back, even as tears blurred my vision. I heard her sweet gurgle, but when I blinked the tears away, she was gone. I looked at the herbs, now reduced to nothing but ash. I didn’t have any more. I’d have to wait until I could go to the store to buy some. A throb began to pulse at my temples, the telltale sign of an oncoming headache. I really needed to stop doing this, but the thought of never seei

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 81

NaomiOn the journey home to the manor, Cal drove his car, the bay disappearing in the rearview mirror. I finally felt like I was coming home.“I found something out, by the way. My old alpha… he has a son now,” I added casually after Hilda told me the reason Elio was so pissed was because his mate had just given birth to their first child a few days prior. I tried not to think about it, but the painful memory was already surfacing, squeezing at my chest.“I know. I already sent him our gift,” Cal replied just as casually, driving around a bend as my breath caught in my throat.“What do you mean you already know?” I asked, and he gave me one of his winning smiles.“I wanted to keep busy while you were away, so I put a lot of thought into his gift. Tobin helped me,” he explained, making my blood run cold. Fuck, that isn’t good.I tried to act casual, feeling anything but, as the car picked up speed, pushing me back into my seat. “Well, after how he treated you, I wanted to get even with

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 80

NaomiA Few Weeks LaterAddison was gone, and I found myself drifting down to the beach. I had been unable to eat or sleep much, feeling her absence like a missing limb. I knew she was safe—the small spell I cast told me she was—but that was my only connection to her. It was better than nothing. My body had returned to its pre-pregnant self, and somehow, that made things worse. Was she even real?I should go home. I need Cal now. I needed him to help fill the void, and I was tired of fighting it—the pull of the bond. I found myself walking back toward the Mermaid Claw Inn. It had been my refuge so many times since coming here. I stood outside the wooden door, watching the sign flap in the wind.I headed inside, unsure why I had come. Maybe I just needed to get out from under Hilda’s watchful eye. The place still had that same woodsy, salt smell with hints of malt from the ale. Jasper had a new barmaid. She was a wolf and seemed eager to learn as he showed her how to pour a pint. She o

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 79

Naomi2 weeks laterI had been feeling uncomfortable all day. Every step felt like a balloon about to burst as I paced back and forth in my room, hands gripping the swollen curve of my belly. I was certain the baby was going to arrive. I had kept to my room for fear of my water breaking in Hilda’s house. Her words of chucking me out on the street still ringing in my ears.I hoped the information I had found was enough. If I told him what I needed to cure our curse, I could persuade the coven not to make any more silver bullets or other weapons that would harm the packs. I had also found out a few of their regular customers and that Tobin had been working on a few new products. It was enough … I was sure of it.It didn’t matter what happened to me as long as my baby was safe, that was all that mattered. I had also been crying far too much, thinking about all the things I would miss out on as she grows up. Suffice to say, my eyes were puffy, and I was already sleep deprived. Hilda had to

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 78

NaomiElio grabs my hand and pulls me down narrow, dimly lit alleys before pushing me through the heavy wooden door of a dingy bar. The pungent scent of old beer and unwashed bodies hits me like a wave as I step inside. The patrons are a mix of rowdy drunks and slumped over figures, eyeing us warily. I know with a sinking feeling that we’re back at the same place Cal had dragged me to before. The bartender looks at us as we walk in, but one snarl from Elio has everyone going silent, looking away. They don’t care that he is dragging in a heavily pregnant lady with him. He kicks through the back door until we reach a dimly lit corner. The table he finds is small and wobbly, tucked away where the flickering lightbulb casts an eerie glow. “Sit,” he commands, and I quickly sink into the rickety chair. As I watch him he wants to know about the chaos of the coven. A sly smirk forms on my lips - perhaps I can use his reputation to my advantage.I clear my throat and ask nonchalantly, “So, how

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 77

Naomi4 months laterThe wind whipped through my layers of clothing, bringing a slight chill as I trudged down the narrow streets of Bloodmoon Bay. The search for the moon goddess and any clues about Richard’s son had been fruitless. My belly bulged with a baby that would be arriving in a few short weeks, and I still hadn’t figured out how to get the child safely to my sister, who had agreed to take it in. My mind raced with worry as I walked, hoping for some sort of solution before it was too late.A sharp gust of salty wind stung my face, whipping through my tightly braided hair and bringing a strangled gasp to my lips. I paused to stretch out the knots in my spine, only to freeze as I caught sight of a menacing figure looming ahead. My blood turned to ice as I realised who it was. Shit.Pure terror grips me as I sprint down the street, my fat feet pounding against the pavement in a desperate attempt to escape. My hands desperately drop my bags in order to clutch my tummy, the weigh

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 76

Naomi*** Trigger Warnings Apply ***It had been weeks later, and despite my persistent efforts, I still couldn’t reach the moon goddess. In desperation, I sought out a seance in Bloodmoon Bay, but was met with confusion and disbelief. They claimed the moon goddess was already among us, but I couldn’t sense her presence at all. It seemed like a ridiculous excuse to avoid helping me. Surely, if the goddess truly walked among us, we would feel her divine power radiating from her very being. But instead, I was left with nothing but frustration and unanswered questions.I had trudged back to Hilda’s failing to find answers yet again. I didn’t want to delve into the dark blood magic if I could help it. If things got worse, I figured I knew where to start for looking for a rogue that might actually help as part of this cure.I took back to sitting on my bed with a spell book reading through it trying to learn different techniques. The pages were worn, and I was careful not to tear them, or

  • My Unexpected Mate   Chapter 75

NaomiI catch the sickly scent of Odette’s perfume as I follow her around the manor as she rifles through her wardrobe, packing a bag. Ataz stands on the other side of the room with his arms folded over his chest and a death glare on his face. “We have been through this. If you don’t want the others to get suspicious of you, I need to leave,” she whispers, but even with the softness of her voice, I don’t miss the harshness of her words.“You’re supposed to want to stay here with me,” he grumbles, like a petulant child who can’t get what he wants. Odette sighs as if this conversation is actually draining her energy. I don’t know how many times they have had this conversation. Odette is changed out of her robes. She looks fresh as a daisy and a glow to her skin that wasn’t there when she was first freed from the figurine. She slowly walks towards him, her hips swaying sensually as she crosses the distance. It’s a practiced art form, but it seems to do the trick.“Ataz,” she purrs, her v
