Léon's POV

Michael ate the food Marthe had prepared for him, munching on it with a fond expression, already eyeing what he'll eat next. I was glad he was eating somewhat properly again, yet ... I shifted in my seat. There were still so many open questions. "So you will leave for New York now? To chase after her?"

My brother angled the sandwich before he bit into it. "No. I don't care about that now."

My ears must have betrayed me. "W-What!? But you just said-!"

"I'll contact Jessica, Nina and Clarissa first. Sara will push me away no matter what I do, so it's futile if I drop everything and go back. But she won't push them away. I'll have Jess tell her everything she needs to know until she is active again, then I will seek her out. I will stay today and tomorrow in Gordes, then I will leave for Paris with uncle to take part in the meeting we had arranged." Michael sounded as if he was so sure of himself, as if he knew that's how everything would go down – but one thing bothered me.

She can't leave work as easily as I can." Amelie brushed her hair back with a rushed manner. "Of course not, since you are the boss", she giggled awkwardly. "I-uh-won't bother you anymore. • My Tyrant CEO   chapter 1

It was a snowy January day in New York but that didn't stop Sara Atkins from going to her interview at Beaumont's. The winter in America, especially New York, could be harsh, as Sara had quickly learned in the last two years she had lived here. The snow was thick, the temperature was freezing, the day dim and almost depressing it seemed. She couldn't let that get to her.'Think positive, think positive', she chided herself. Sara nuzzled more into her thick jacket, her breath visible in the air. With every step she walked towards the big company, the more nervous she grew. Was she dressed accordingly? Who would interview her? Who would be her boss? Would she get along with the people and her higher ranks?Sara's nose and cheeks were red, almost giving her a blushing look. She sniffled, cursing herself how she could have forgotten her tissues at home. The Austrian born girl with the Bosnian roots ran her hand over her hair. Sara had tied her thick brown hair, a typical Bosnian trait,

The first three weeks of my new job had been quite blissful - almost everybody was nice to me, I quickly made friends with my accounting team and my money worries were growing less prominent as the date of the pay check approached. It was Monday the 23rd when I for the millionth time checked my phone to see if Noah had written me, but to no avail. He was active on his social media accounts, constantly online on Facebook too. I huffed loudly. So he could talk to others but with me only through his lawyer? That prick!I angrily dug into my muesli and forced the hot coffee down my throat. I didn't want him back, not after how he had changed and how he had treated me. Noah had changed so suddenly once we had gotten married ... was I the reason? Did I do something wrong? Was it because I hadn't slept with him?I played with my cup of coffee. It hadn't felt right. All those years we had been together it had never felt right, nor had a moment presented itself. Noah hadn't also taken the lead

Pressing the door open, I was welcomed by a dark office with tall windows behind Mr. Beaumont's broad chest. The view was breath-taking, just like him. New York opened behind him, almost the whole town visible to him."Sit down", he commanded, not looking up from the paper he was writing. My feet moved on their own to the leader chair in front of him.Mr. Beaumont was in no hurry to talk to me, continuing to write the paper without any haste. He read over it, signed it and then sealed it, put it away into an envelope; finally he met my eyes.I held my breath and pressed my legs together to stop them from shaking so much."Mrs Atkins.""Mr. Beaumont", I nodded at him."There's a few things we have to talk about", he lifted a paper. "Let's start with the shortest one. 'Violation of Dress Code.'"I sighed loudly, slapping my face. Mr. Beaumont raised a brow, and as he lowered the paper, a soft smile laid on his lips.My breath hitched. The furrowed eyebrows were now resting above his blu

Today was the fifth day with Mr. Beaumont and it was quite eventful, to say the least. The other days he had kept himself in the background, mostly because he had one meeting after the other he had to attend. Today was the day he fully stayed at the company, a first in this week.I arrived at work at about half past 7, joining Jessica with a cup of coffee while we waited for the other departments to deliver their files. I tried not to be bumped as Noah still hadn't called nor texted me."It completely passed my mind and I never got to ask you: How was it?" "What do you mean?", I asked her, passing her the sugar. "You know, the talk you had with Mr. Beaumont", she nudged me, then put two spoons of sugar into her pink mug with the elephants on it. Elephants were her favourite animal. "Oh, that", I laughed nervously. "It was quite alright, I imagined it to be much worse." "See, told you", she patted the spot next to her.We sat down on her desk."We talked about the dress code first"

"Make me."My heart was beating against my chest.I tried to fish it out of his hand. He raised his arm. Unfair.I pressed my lips together. I leaned more against my desk, stretching further towards his arm. Almost! So close, so very, very close! My fingers were shaking as I stretched even further, now only standing on one foot while I silently wished I would have worn my heels to give me bit of an advantage. My fingers touched the file and a smile spread on my face.My boss held the file further away. "Unfair!", I cried out, went around the table and held onto his arm to get the godforsaken file. His muscles were quite hard, but I forced myself to ignore that and my red cheeks."How could I possibly be so rude to such a hard-working woman?", he laughed, pressing me against him. My whole body touched his hard chest. I held my breath as his hand with the file touched my lower back. His face was mere centimetres away from mine. "Trying her hardest to finish her work", he mumbled, brushi

"Hey, Jess ... can I ask you something?"We were the only ones in the office for today. Clarissa had been appointed to another department for the day and Nina had called in to tell us she was sick. Mr. Beaumont was in London for a meeting, for the next few days.I felt as if I could breathe, knowing he wouldn't be around me."Oh dear. Don't tell me you want to quit!" "What? No, no!", I hadn't thought about that at all. "It's about Mr. Beaumont." "Oh, the mystery man. Go on, ask me", she smiled at me. "Anything?" "Anything. Out with it, Sara." "Is he ... what's he like towards his female workers?" "Respectful and composed. He solely talks to them about business." "No touching, smiling, joking?" "By gods no! I've never seen him smile at anybody of us. Why are you asking?"I felt how my face grew hotter.Jessica held her breath as she realized. "Is he- is he nice towards you?" "Yes", I lowered my head. "He tried to ..." should I really tell her? "Can you keep a secret?" "If I c

Once worktime approached again, we got up."Already leaving?", my boss asked while looking only at me. "We have to", I breathlessly answered. Jess wriggled her brows as I met her eyes again. "See you later, Michael." "It's Mr. Beaumont, Mrs Brown", he chided with a stern voice. She shrugged with a smile. While Jess put away her trey, and as I squeezed through the chairs, Mr. Beaumont caught my arm by the elbow.I swirled back to him."You on the other hand", his eyes were burning, making me stop breathing. "You can call me Michael anytime." "Sara, hurry!", Jessica called for me. "Now go. I'm waiting for your files."♡ "Naturally you'll stay until you finished them", Mr. Beaumont decided without even looking at me.I had to grip the files harder, so I wouldn't launch them into his face. "You are making mistakes on your corrected files. Until you haven't done them all perfectly, you can't leave", he snarled, slamming his pencil angrily onto the table. He wasn't in a good mood at

I rushed inside to buy everything I needed to write her a letter. I wanted to head home right away, but I stopped dead in my tracks. What should I write her? How should I start? How should I address her? Mon amour? Ma belle? Ma petite? Sara?Should I apologize right of the bat?I walked in circles, contemplating what size I should write my letters with. Italic or normal handwriting? Could she even read my normal handwriting? Was I a clean writer? Could I phrase myself the way I wanted to? Would she understand what I wanted to say?I stopped as I saw the people from the supply store all looked over to me and I quickly walked deeper into the village. The smell made me stop after a while and I closed my eyes, inhaling it deeply. There's so much I loved about this place, something not even Connecticut could fulfil inside my body. Marie claimed I was such a strange person – I had an old soul, loved the digital world, hated tardiness, neglect and unsureness, yet I loved a woman who's every

  • My Tyrant CEO   chapter 30

Aunt Marthe had this table, this god-awful old table, that had a wobbly leg and was annoying me to my very core. She had bought it when I had been 15 on the flea market and had placed it in the kitchen, where it was used as extra storage space. My uncle and I frowned at it any time it moved, any time we saw it, any time she refused to get rid of it.The reason why it was such a bad table was because she had built it herself.People often wondered why I could build, and the house of my aunt was what I would point them to. Somebody had to know how to handle tools, or else something would fall onto our heads at any time.I lifted my mug and the table wobbled; I furrowed my brows. "Let me buy you a new one – please." "Humbug! It still does its job and I love it, Michael!" I raised my brow at the wax and jam spots on the old walnut table. Tatie was usually against wooden pieces, but this one had stolen her heart. My aunt often joked she loved the table as much as she loved uncle."I'm su

My heart folded together in pain, but I ignored it. I took her petite hand."My girlfriend is at home. We have ... argued a little and she decided to stay back." "Apologize. That makes mama happy." Rebecca shook her head with a smile. "I will, as soon as I see her." "Good!", Estelle stared at the floor with a smile. "Can she visit us too?" "I will bring her along next time", I said, trying to hide my pain with a smile.Rebecca pulled me into a hug as I passed by her. "Since when are you so tame?", I asked her with a forced smile. "Oh shut it! You know I worry about you as much as I worry about my kids." "I only seem to worry everybody." "You didn't have it easy. Neither of you did."She cupped my face. Then she smiled. "You still love her." "Is it that visible?" "If it weren't you wouldn't be so miserable. Drinking, smoking, not sleeping – but let me ask you something, Michael. Does it do you good?"I thought about it."No", was my final answer."How many days did you do thi

I don't know when and how I had gotten home, nor when I had fallen asleep, but here I was, lying on the sofa with a blanket wrapped around me. I glanced around until I remembered where I was.Gordes. Aunt Marthe. The fight.Soft voices came from the kitchen as well as the smell of food. And it smelled delicious. Water collected in my mouth and my stomach grumbled. It wasn't a usual thing for tatie Marthe to prepare a big breakfast. We usually just ate a croissant and had a cup of coffee with it. Yesterday must have riled her up.I despised it when I worried my family. I didn't want them to baby me, nor did I want them to think of the times my parents had divorced. Yes, it had been hard and yes, my brother's death had made me get help from a psychiatrist, but I was at a better place now.I glanced at the calendar and my hunger disappeared almost immediately. It was the 27th of February.I plopped back onto the sofa, my mind loud, full of questions, confused. How has it already been 12

How I fucking missed her.Her voice, her smile, her kisses, her arms, her jokes, everything about her.'Sat on the corner of the roomEverything's reminding me of youNursing an empty bottle and telling myself you're happierAren't you?Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt youBut ain't nobody need you like I doI know that there's others that deserve youBut my darling, I am still in love with youBut I guess you look happier, you doMy friends told me one day I'd feel it tooI could try to smile to hide the truthI know I was happier with youBaby, you look happier, you doI knew one day you'd fall for someone newBut if breaks your heart like lovers doJust know that I'll be waiting here for you'The song ended exactly as we arrived the house and the button suddenly worked again. Michael's POV"You can't continue like this, Michael", tatie's unforgettable voice made me groan loudly. My private pilot had flown me to the airport where my driver had picked me and the others up. Before I could even grasp what I was doing, I had stood in front of Marthe's house with my suitcase and briefcase in my hands and Marie and Gerard by my side. The first day I had laid in my room and did nothing, until the memories suffocated me, so I went out and ran from our village to the next, without even me noticing it. I collapsed the moment I entered the house and had slept at the entrance. The second day I didn't even spend another minute inside. I got up, brushed my teeth, went to the city and bought as much alcohol as I could. The 63-year-old woman stood there with her hands on her hips, tapping her foot.If you looked at my mother's aunt, you would think she was my real mother. Beaumont's Enterprise POVHe couldn't remember the last time he had gone home, taken a break or stopped checking his phone for Sara.Today one week ago Sara had left the company and Michael could never forgive himself for it.She had yelled at him, yelled things that left him confused. He hadn't done anything. He hadn't said anything, why was she so angry at him? He cursed Eleanor's existence to mud, running his hand through his already messy hair and stalked down the corridor to his office.Usually the modern, simple kept offices, walls and corridors made him feel proud, were inviting and warm, but lately it left him empty and bland. They were nothing without her, nothing without her laughter echoing down the halls, nothing without her next to him, discussing the marketing ploy for a company regarding their credit.Mrs Flink rushed out the office with the files he had given her this morning. "I told you", he snarled at her. "I didn't-" "I don't care! You are fired", he yelled, then
