Jennifer's POV

My heart beat faster as we crossed the garrison and rode into the Moonlight Pack. The damage done by the Red Moon soldiers who had attacked us stood out like sand dunes.

As we rode past the ruins, dismembered bodies lay here and there on the road, they were the bodies of fallen soldiers. Some had even shifted before they were killed. The bulky mass of dead wolves lay strewn on the floor and the whole place stank.

It broke my heart to think that my father orchestrated it all. My escape from my comfort zone wasn't wasted. I couldn't salvage much, but I was able to save the Prince… and now he is mine.

My joy was short-lived as we rode towards the palace. Although I saved the Prince, I betrayed my father… and blood is thicker than water.
