Chapter 8: Search for Regina

Audrey was grabbed by a strange hand and pulled into a corner where the garage camera couldn't see. He just hummed and glared at the men in black coats standing around him. When the other hand was removed from his face, Audrey took a deep breath to regain his oxygen.

“Who are you guys? What do you want?" The lack of oxygen and fear caused Audrey to talk intermittently.

“We just wanted to ask one thing,” the man at the head said, raising an eyebrow and examining Audrey's easily broken body to them, "Where did you take Miss Regina?"

 The man's question caused Audrey to frown and then fall into deep thought. He began to look at the men in black coats as if they had just examined him. Audrey's face gradually became darker.

 “You are the ones who took Regina away. Where did you take my wife? Give me my wife back," Audrey snapped, grabbing the top man's collar.

Audrey's weak strength did not frighten them, on the contrary, it made them not want to say much to him. The top man could easily push Audrey against the wall with one hand and adjust the crease in his shirt.

“If you still refuse to tell the truth, we will take drastic measures against you,” the man said, gritting his teeth. His patience from the time he entered the hospital until now was almost exhausted. The man was afraid he would beat Audrey to death before finding the answer his owner needed.

“What are you guys talking about? I don't understand. I'm going to sue you for illegal arrests," Audrey said, flinging his arm against the wall. He dared not go forward and confront these men in black coats anymore. Audrey could only antagonize them orally.

The men looked at each other. They found it strange that Audrey kept saying they were the ones who kidnapped Regina. However, except for their owners, they would not trust anyone's words. Suddenly, two men grabbed Audrey's hand. Another quickly ransacked his body.

“What are you guys doing? Get your hands off me,” Audrey yelled at the other man's touch. For the first time, he felt helpless and could only grit his teeth and endure.

The man in front quickly pulled out the phone from Audrey's pocket. Not knowing what the man did, just a few minutes later, the phone was once again in its place. The two men holding Audrey's arms loosened as he yanked away from them.

“If I know you're lying, watch out for your life,” the men in black coats pointed at Audrey's face in warning, then walked away one by one.

Audrey sighed. After that, Audrey quickly entered the elevator to go to the president's room. The secretary had been waiting for a long time and then prepared a cup of coffee for him. Audrey sat down on the bench and turned on the computer. However, when Audrey checked the hospital's cameras, the sight of the men in black coats from the moment they appeared until they left disappeared. He clenched his fist and silently asked who those people were and why they dared to be so brave.

At this moment, a doctor who has been with Audrey for a long time in his career sneaks in.

“Where were you this morning? Why are you here only now?" Jack sat down in the chair across from Audrey and asked. His eyes widened for answers on Audrey.

“I've been a bit busy. What happened this morning?" Audrey doesn't mind lying.

“A bunch of people came in and wanted to know Regina's room number,” Jack sighed and rubbed his temple. What happened this morning shocked everyone.

“Do you know who they are? Where is Regina now? Has she been taken away by them?” Audrey asked briskly. He wanted to know where Regina was now before bad things happened.

“This…,” Jack hesitated slightly, but after Audrey urged him, he lowered his voice and recounted the scene from this morning, “Does Regina have a grudge against the Dominic family? After we went to her room with them, she wasn't there anymore."

Audrey heard Jack mention the Dominic family and was shocked. His eyes darted back and forth. His hand involuntarily closed and touched his lips. Even though the air conditioner was on in the room, there was still sweat on Audrey's forehead. The heart in the chest was pounding wildly. His face gradually turned pale.

Audrey used to accidentally dig information out of Stella's mouth. Feline Company fell into debt due to failed project investment. Suddenly, the Dominic family accepted to invest in shares for the company but at a high interest price. Mr. Feline came up with the bold idea of assigning one of his daughters there to pay off part of the debt. Stella used every means to not have to be taken away. Thus, Regina became a pawn in their hands.

After a long time, the Dominic family returned Regina, making everyone think she was rejected. Because of the stake in Regina's hand, Audrey insisted on marrying her without worrying about the Dominic family. However, that thought was like a slap in his face now. The head of the Dominic family was still watching and interested in Regina's life.

“Hey, did you hear what I said? If Regina gets out, they'll find out about our drug testing on her. I don't want to lose my doctor's license," this was the main reason why Jack went to the president's room to look for Audrey because Audrey was the one who ordered Jack to be the main doctor in the project to test drugs on Regina.

“She has no proof so you don't have to worry. I will take care of everything. You go out first,” Audrey said, pushing Jack out first because he was also very confused.

What Audrey feared was not the exposed human drug test, but the Dominic family. If they really saved Regina, she would definitely come back to avenge what Audrey did to her. Audrey felt his hands and feet go cold. He knew he couldn't stand up to the Dominic family. Originally, the Audrey family was just an ordinary business family and had not really reached the top of the market.

While Audrey was distraught, the door suddenly opened. Stella hastily entered with an angry expression.

“Why isn't Regina in the ward anymore? What is it like to be captured? Who took her away?" Stella slammed the table and yelled at Audrey. Originally, she had run after Audrey and was about to show off in front of her sister again. However, when Stella entered the hospital room, Regina was nowhere to be found. She thought Regina had been moved to another room, so she asked the nurses there and learned about it this morning.

"Can't you just be quiet? It's already so noisy coming in,” Audrey snapped, then turned to face the window. He never had a quiet moment to think about his next move.

Stella was scolded like that for the first time by Audrey, so she froze, then a wave of anger welled up in her blood, “Are you yelling at me? Are you still in love with Regina? Seeing that she was captured, you were disappointed, right? You go, go find her."

Stella said as she hit Audrey's body. He couldn't take it anymore, so he stood up and pushed her aside, causing her stomach to hit the table.

“Can you stop messing around? Didn't you tell the head of the Dominic family to disparage Regina and send her back? Now, he is coming to ask for her,” Audrey adjusted his clothes and then got angry and questioned Stella.

However, Stella's groan caught Audrey's attention. He turned to look and saw Stella clutching her stomach and slowly collapsing to the ground. A trickle of blood flowed from between her legs, soaking the carpet.

“Stella, are you ok? Come on,” Audrey tried to control his shaking hands and carried Stella down to the emergency room.

The best doctor was sent to perform Stella's emergency. They dared not ignore it for two reasons. One was that Stella was a very famous celebrity. She was in danger right there in their hospital. This would give them a bad reputation. The other reason was that they both knew the secret relationship between their boss and Stella.

“Please wait outside. Inside, I will take care of her. Don't worry," the dispatched doctor reassured Audrey and immediately went into the emergency room. Audrey just nodded and stood outside waiting. Too many things happened in one day.

Because the problem happened so suddenly, Audrey left the phone in the chairman's room. Suddenly, the phone automatically turns on. A series of parameters were displayed on the phone screen and then turned off. Audrey's phone returned to normal as if nothing had happened.

At this time, Anthony was at the weapons research and design headquarters. He let the machine scan all the details on his face and fingerprints. An elevator door behind the wall was opened. Anthony and two bodyguards entered and gradually disappeared. The elevator took him down to a secret cellar. The bottom was filled with screens just for weapon deliveries.

Anthony sat down on a chair and was protected by two bodyguards on either side. He stared at the screens with a questioning look.

"How's everything?" After a few minutes of watching the man’s fingers fly over the keyboard, Anthony asked.

There was no reply, but the fingers began to accelerate. Then, on the screen, the images of Audrey appeared in turn and also his current location. After a review, the manager of the technical team reported to Anthony.

“According to what is on the screen, he only goes to very normal places, homes, hospitals, and restaurants. There is no secret place that can hide Miss Regina,” the manager continued to investigate further just in case. However, Anthony's suspicions about Audrey taking Regina somewhere else were false.

Anthony laced his fingers together and fell into deep thought. The screen was switching to connect to Audrey's dash cam. Suddenly, a taxi came into Anthony's line of sight, causing him to jump up.

“Rewind a bit… all right, stop there,” Anthony immediately ordered. The video on the screen again showed the taxi speeding past Audrey's car. The girl looming inside the taxi made Anthony smile happily, "Quickly look up the license plate of this taxi and see where it went."

Anthony immediately ordered. He knew this couldn't be rushed but his heart was pounding with excitement. Anthony suddenly remembered the taxi that passed him at the hospital, but he didn't dare to judge. Half an hour later, the results were also available. That taxi did indeed pick up a client at Audrey's hospital.

Anthony cupped his forehead and laughed. His hunch about Regina wasn't wrong. She was right in front of his eyes, but he let her slip away. Anthony looked at Regina in the car through the gap between his fingers. His eyes became steady.

"Let's go get her," Anthony smiled sinisterly and stepped out of the lab's secret vault, "Let's see if you can leave me this time."
