Ava’s Pov
“Can you get in the car?” Zayne asked, his piercing silver eyes locking onto mine.
Just looking at him made my wolf stir. Something about him felt different from his brothers—was this the mate bond everyone talked about? I wasn’t sure, especially after last night. I hadn’t had time to figure anything out before I was being chased by whoever Vanessa, their insane sister, had sent after me.
“It’s okay. No one’s going to hurt you. Please, get in,” Steve said softly, his gentle eyes meeting mine as he took my hand.
The moment his hand touched mine, a strange sense of calm came over me. It felt like I could tell him my darkest secrets, and he wouldn’t judge me for any of them. His hand was soft yet firm, grounding me in a way I didn’t expect. My wolf stirred again, even stronger this time, just from the brief contact. I didn’t want him to let go.
For some reason, I felt like I could trust him—unlike his brother, Zayne, whose stern and unapproachable look made me uneasy.
“Okay,” I murmured, blinking as I climbed into the car. Iris, the one with blonde hair, got into the driver’s seat, while the other brothers got into their own cars and followed us.
I wanted to ask questions, but from the look on Iris’s face, I couldn’t tell if it was the right time—or if questions were even allowed.
Still, I couldn’t stop myself from stealing glances at him as he drove. Everything about him was… interesting.
His sharp side profile was stunning, almost unfairly handsome. The way his blonde hair fell over his face, his hands gripping the steering wheel, veins standing out—it was probably the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. My thoughts wandered without permission, and before I could stop myself, I was imagining things I shouldn’t.
What would it feel like to have that hand pinning mine above my head, holding me down on a bed, leaving me completely at his mercy? To feel his lips trailing kisses from the side of my neck, down to my chest? Those lips—God, what would they taste like?
I snapped out of it, shaking my head to clear the shameful thoughts. What was wrong with me? Why was I fantasizing about someone I barely knew, let alone the brother of my enemy?
Disgust bubbled up inside me. I couldn’t believe I was thinking like this.
Was this what the mate bond did? Did it make you think of the dirtiest things? I chewed on my nails nervously, trying to silence the questions swirling in my mind.
“You seem bothered by something,” Iris finally said, his deep, velvety voice making me feel things.
I glanced at him briefly, and when our eyes met, my breath caught. His ocean-blue eyes were so mesmerizing, it felt like they could drown me.
My cheeks burned as I quickly turned my gaze forward, my heart pounding in my chest. “Wh... wh... where are you taking me?” I stammered, finally asking the question that had been on my mind.
He sighed softly, his voice calm. “Just somewhere we can talk. Besides, we couldn’t leave you back there to let my sister and the rest of the students treat you the way they have been.”
I took a deep breath, unsure of what to say. The tension in the car was almost unbearable, but his presence made me feel both nervous and oddly safe.
“Why does your sister hate me so much?” I finally asked, my voice quiet.
“I wish I knew,” he admitted, his eyes focused on the road. “Vanessa has always been… difficult. But with you, it’s different. It’s almost like it’s personal. Do you have any idea why?”
I shook my head. “I don’t. I have tried to stay out of her way, but she finds every reason to make my life miserable.”
As he listened, his jaw tightened slightly, the veins on his hands becoming more pronounced as he gripped the steering wheel. I couldn’t help but notice how effortlessly sexy he looked. His calm yet protective behavior was intoxicating. My mind wandered again, imagining what it would feel like if those hands brushed against my skin or if his lips—God, those lips—pressed against mine.
I bit my lip, trying to focus on the conversation, but every little thing about him gave me butterflies. From the way his hair fell over his forehead to his low soothing voice, Iris was too attractive. And it terrified me.
The car pulled up in front of what looked like a massive mansion. I stared out the window, taking a deep breath, before turning my attention back to Iris.
He was already looking at me. His piercing blue eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, my heart forgot how to beat. Those eyes—they were like oceans, endless.
“Wh… wh… where are we?” I stammered, feeling my cheeks flush under his intense stare.
He glanced out the window behind me, his eyes briefly scanning the mansion before returning to mine. “Just a little property my brothers and I own,” he said casually.
Little? There was nothing little about this house. It was grand, intimidating, and screamed wealth.
I swallowed hard, unsure what to say, before blurting out, “If you men are planning to reject me, you might as well do it now. There’s no need for all these formalities.”
“Reject you?” Iris raised a brow, the corner of his lips twitching into an amused smile. Then he let out a low laugh, one that sent shivers down my spine. His perfect white teeth flashed, and I swore it was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen.
“Now, why would we want to reject someone as… interesting as you?” he asked, his voice soft but filled with something that made my stomach flutter.
Before I could process his words, his hand reached out, gently brushing against mine. The touch was light, but it set my nerves on fire. My heart raced, and I bit my lower lip, trying to steady my breathing.
What was he going to do next? I couldn’t stop myself from imagining what it would feel like if he leaned in closer. If those strong hands slid across my skin. If those lips—so full, so tempting—touched mine.
There was a pull between us that made it impossible to look away from him. Every second spent in his presence made it harder to breathe, harder to think. And I wasn’t sure if I wanted it to stop.
His fingertips brushed softly against the side of my face, a touch so light that made my heart race. I tried to hold his stare, but the way he looked at me made my face drop instinctively, too overwhelmed to keep looking at him.
But he wasn’t having it. Gently, he lifted my chin with his fingers, forcing me to meet his gaze again.
My heart was pounding so hard I thought it might burst out of my chest. Then, his thumb traced a slow line from my chin to the corner of my lips, gently parting them. The small, intimate action was enough to make my mind spin, leaving me desperate for more but too flustered to move.
His eyes stayed on my lips. It was like he was wrestling with himself, torn between holding himself back and giving in to the temptation right in front of him.
I could tell that every second felt like a silent battle in his mind, and I was the cause of it. I could feel he was barely holding back from finding out what my lips tasted like.
“Wh… what are you doing?” I whispered, my voice shaky but desperate for an answer.
He lifted his eyes to mine, and I felt like I might melt under his gaze. My heart kept racing as he replied, “Nothing…” His voice was low, almost a murmur, as his eyes fell back to my lips. “Just this…”
Before I could process his words, he leaned in. His lips were suddenly so close to mine that my breath stopped. My heart stopped entirely, wondering if he was going to... kiss me?
Ava's Pov My hands brushed over my lips as my mind kept replaying what had happened in the car. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, no matter how hard I tried. I paced back and forth in the massive room I had been given, trying to calm myself down. The memory of Iris leaning in, the way my stupid self had actually closed my eyes, waiting for the kiss, haunted me. “I’m so stupid!” I groaned, throwing myself onto the bed and letting out a deep sigh. How had I ended up in such a ridiculous situation? The brothers had assumed I was exhausted—and honestly, I was—so they had shown me to this room and told me we’d have a proper conversation in the morning. Now, I've been left alone for hours. At first, the TV had been enough to distract me, with different interesting shows playing. But eventually, boredom crept in, and my thoughts drifted back to Iris. The way he had touched my face, the way he had almost kissed me. It was all I could think about. But none of that mattered. I nee
Ava's POV. My breath hitched at his question. Did he truly want an answer to that? Should I tell him that I wanted him to let go of everything holding him back? “Ava…” He whispered, igniting a slow burn deep inside me. “Should I let go?” He repeated, and before I could say anything in response, something warm flicked against my neck My body stiffened as realization hit me. It was his tongue on my skin. A strange heat that I had never felt before rose within me as he traced a slow path from my nape to my collar. He pulled his lips away moments before pressing them against my collar. He began sucking gently on my collar. I had to bite on my lips to stop a moan that threatened to escape. “You're so beautiful,” He whispered. His voice was filled with desire as he slowly pulled the strap of my dress down and kissed my bare shoulder. The slow nibbles became rougher and sent shivers down my spine. My heart began pounding loudly that I was sure he could hear it. I was losing myself
Ava's POV. Were the triplets just pretending to be nice so they could crush me right after? Were they just deceiving me? I glanced at Iris again and wondered if I had misinterpreted the smirk I caught on his lips or if I was overthinking things. “Iris! I’m talking to you!” Vanessa yelled again and snapped me out of my thoughts. “Just shut up and get off my phone!” He retorted coldly. “Iris, I know you aren't stupid enough to be with a common stripper—”“I don't see anything wrong with being a stripper. It's a job and doesn't make someone less of a person. Stop your backward thinking!” He defended me. “You don't know what you are talking about!” She snapped. “Disconnect call,” Iris said, ending the call. I suddenly became confused. He smirked at her words but still defended me. “Don't take what she said to heart,” He whispered, facing me. “I'm used to it already,” I stuttered, looking away from him. “Don't worry, she won't bother you at all,” He muttered, his voice confident
Ava's POV. I didn't know how I did it, but I summoned the strength and struggled to my feet. Without wasting a second, I resumed running, and this time at a faster pace. I couldn't risk getting caught. I refused to die like this. I might be a poor and ridiculed stripper, but I still had dreams.Although those dreams seemed impossible, I still wanted to fulfill them. “Someone help!” I screamed, tears flowing down my cheeks. As I turned a corner, I realized that I had reached a dead end. There was nowhere else to run. I stopped for a moment and glanced around. I felt this sudden relief when I saw a door. I just prayed it was open; if not, I was good as dead. As I rushed towards the door and was about to grab the doorknob, it suddenly flung open. I gasped and almost fell back, but a pair of firm hands grabbed my waist. A forest-like scent, particularly sandalwood, wafted through my nostrils. It felt so calming and soothing to my soul. “Ava,” I heard a deep but soft voice that mad
Ava’s POV. “Ava, wait!!”Their voices chased after me, filled with urgency and confusion. But I did not stop. My heart was slamming against my ribs as I ran down the stairs. My legs were shaking, but I was determined to put as much distance between us as possible. I could not face them. I could not be their mate. That is not possible, especially when Vanessa's stare is lurking behind. Everything about their behavior felt like a mistake, like a cruel joke, as if the universe was playing a trick on me. People like them were not supposed to be connected to people like me. They were strong, important, and came from a world I didn’t belong to. Meanwhile, I was barely surviving, treated like trash by everyone around me. The moment I reached my classroom, I rushed to my seat, forcing myself to take a slow breath. My hands were still trembling as I placed them on my cheek. My finger was cold despite the warmth in the room. I glanced around, my chest tightening when I noticed Vanessa's s
Ava’s POV I felt a sharp pain stabbed through my head the moment my eyes floated open. A groan slipped from my lips, my vision swimming in the haze of darkness, shifting between shadows. My body felt heavier than usual, and I fell asleep, extremely weak like I had been drained of all my energy. For a moment, everything was a blur. My mind struggled to process what happened. And then it hit me hard. The moment I was grabbed, the sound of footsteps, and then after that, I saw nothing. It was blank. A chill ran down my spine as I tried to move, only to feel resistance. My wrists were bound tightly behind me, the rough rope cutting into my skin. I twisted my hand, whizzing at the friction bound against my flesh. My heart quickened against my ribs, my breath coming out in short gaps. The room felt cold. I shifted slightly, feeling the hard, gritty floor under me, dirty and stone-scrambled against my leg. And the uncomfortable pleasure of the floor told me I had been here for a while.
Steve’s POV I walked into the mart, my hands shoved deep into my pockets. The bright fluorescent lights sting my eyes, but I barely notice. My mind is too preoccupied, replaying the way Ava stormed off earlier. She’s been avoiding us. After school, Irish, Zayne, and I tried to find her, but she was nowhere to be seen. It’s driving me crazy. Ever since I found out she’s my mate, it’s been hell trying to control myself. My wolf wants her, wants to claim her, mark her. But I can’t.I grab a random snack off the shelf, not because I need it but because I need something to do. Something to pull my mind away from the burning frustration clawing at me. But it doesn’t help. Nothing does. The cashier barely glances at me at first, scanning the item like she does with every other customer. But then, recognition flashes across her face. Her eyes widened, and before I could stop her, she bowed her head.“Alpha’ Steve,” she whispers, her voice filled with respect.I clench my jaw.The movement ca
Ava’s POV A pounding headache greets me as I slowly blink my eyes open. A sharp throbbing pulse at the back of my head, making me wince as I sit up. My body feels strange, heavy yet light at the same time, as if I’ve been floating in and out of consciousness for hours.I tried to remember what happened, but then everything hit hard. How I got kidnapped and the gunshot. My breathing quickens, my chest rising and falling in uneven gasps. I pressed my hand to my knees, expecting to feel the wound, but I felt nothing. My brows furrow as I run my fingers over the spot where the bullet should have torn through my skin. It’s smooth. Unscarred. As if nothing ever happened. Before I could process what was happening, the door creaked open, and Steve stepped inside. His tall frame moves with ease, and his green eyes lock onto mine. The moment our gazes meet, I forget how to breathe. His presence is overpowering; something about the way he looks at me makes my stomach twist.I try to stand, but
Zayne’s POVGetting ready for the Alpha’s birthday party wasn’t anything new. We’d been to countless events like this before, and they always felt the same. Crowds of people, fake smiles, and endless bows and praise that didn’t mean much to us. But this felt different because it is our father’s birthday.Irish tightened his cufflinks while Steve adjusted his tie, grumbling under his breath.“Do we really have to wear these?” Steve asked, tugging at the collar of his shirt.“It’s not like we have a choice,” I replied, slipping on my jacket. “Let’s just go, get it over with, and leave.”
AVA’S POVAs we arrived at the pack, I could tell right away that something big was happening. Even before we stepped inside, the energy was different, louder, more chaotic. People were everywhere, rushing from one side to the other as though they were all on some kind of important mission. The place was crowded, packed with cars and unfamiliar faces, and from the way people were dressed, it was obvious they were prominent. Before we could even enter the hall, two guards stepped in front of us, blocking our way.“Invitation letter,” one of them said, his deep voice making it clear that no one was getting in without it.Sarah quickly pulled hers out from her purse and handed it to them with a brig
Ava’s POV I wake up feeling strangely unsettled.Today is the Alpha’s birthday, but honestly, I don’t care. I wouldn’t even be going to school if not for the stupid assignment I need to submit. It’s a waste of time. Everyone is focused on preparing for the Alpha’s birthday party anyway, so no real lessons will happen. Two hours, maybe less, and we’ll be sent home. That’s the only reason I’m dragging myself to school today.I stared at my reflection in the mirror, my red skin is now going back to normal, thanks to the three brothers; if not for the medicine they bought for me, I’d still be as red as tomatoes. I get dressed quickly, not putting too much effort into my appearance. My plan is simple: submit my assignment and leave. That’s it.I get dressed and rush out of the house. I’m not sure if Vanessa would be going to school but I don’t really care if she does. The walk to school was exhausting, and immediately I got inside the school gate, everything didn’t seem normal, and stud
Ava’s POVAfter asking them the same question for what felt like eternity and they refused to answer me, I turned on my heel and walked away, my thoughts beeping with why Vanessa had come to our house. I’m halfway up my room when my stepmom suddenly calls my name. “Ava.” My stepmom’s tone isn’t sharp, but something about it makes me stop. There’s a false sweetness in her voice, like honey masking poison. I hesitate, gripping the hem of my school uniform tightly before turning to face her.Her lips curve into a small smile, but her eyes… her eyes tell a different story.“Yes?” I say, keeping my voice neutral. I thought for a while if they wanted to answer my question, but with her facial expression, I know she’s not about to talk about it. My stepmom stood up and stepped forward slowly. I watch her carefully, wondering what she’s up to this time.“Do you still remember the Alpha’s birthday?” she asks. The question catches me off guard. I blink, confused. Why is she bringing that up
Ava’s POVI don’t wait for my stepmother to finish talking. Instead, I pull the invitation letter from my bag and hand it straight to her “I stayed longer outside because I helped Sarah collect this,” I say quickly, watching her expression.I know how much Sarah wants to go, especially since it’s an invitation from Steve. As soon as I say that, my stepmother’s expression changes. Her smile fades, her eyes darken, and she looks anything but happy. Without warning, she snatches the invitation letter from my hand, her fingers gripping it so tightly that it crumples slightly.“Sarah!” she calls out, her voice sharp and urgent.
Ava’s POVThe sun filters through the curtains, and my eyes flutter open slowly. It takes me a few seconds to realize where I am. This isn’t my room. The bed is too soft, the sheets smell different, and everything feels… unfamiliar. Then it hits me, I’m in Steve’s room.Memories from last night rush back. After everything that happened, Steve had left me here to sleep while he took the guest room. I let out a small sigh and sat up, rubbing my eyes. I feel tired, not just physically, but emotionally.I get out of bed and stretch a little before heading to the bathroom. I splash water on my face, hoping it will wake me up and make me feel a bit better. When I look in the mirr
Ava’s POVI stare at Steve, watching his face twist in confusion. He’s standing there, frozen, trying to wrap his head around what I just said.“Vanessa gave you the invitation?” he asks again, his voice slow, like he’s trying to make sure he heard me right.“Yes,” I say softly. “She even sent it to my house.”His frown deepens, and I see his jaw clench. He’s not just confused — he’s angry.“She sent it to your house?” He repeats it like he’s trying to convince himself that it’s real. His brows pull together, and I can practically see the wheels turning in his
Steve’s POVI was walking back from the pack, my fists clenched, my jaw tight. The Alpha had said something that really got under my skin, and I couldn’t shake off the anger. My mind was spinning with thoughts, and all I wanted was to get home, take a cold shower, and try to calm down. But that plan changed the moment I reached the front gate. There she was. Ava.She was sitting on the ground, huddled against the gate, crying. Her clothes were torn, her shoulders shaking, and she looked completely broken. My heart twisted in my chest, and all the anger I had been feeling vanished in an instant.I was surprised to see he
Ava’s POV“Let go of me, Zach!” I screamed, thrashing as hard as I could. His grip on my wrist tightened. “Stop fighting me, Ava. You’re my mate, and you belong to me.”“No! I don’t belong to you!” I yelled, shoving at his chest, but he didn’t budge. His strength was overwhelming, and the fear in my chest tightened like a steel grip.“Stop acting like this,” he growled, his voice low and dangerous. “I’m not going to hurt you.”“You already are!” I snapped, tears stinging my eyes as I tried to yank my wrist out of his grip again. “You tore my clothes, Zach! You’re hurting me right now!”He paused, his eyes flickering as if my words hit him somewhere deep, but it only lasted for a second. His jaw clenched, and his face hardened again.“You’re mine, Ava,” he said through gritted teeth. “You can’t keep running from me.”“I’m not yours! You rejected me, remember?” My voice broke as the memories flooded back. I could still hear his cruel words ringing in my ears. I could still feel the pain
