Rowan even called Ryan to add fuel to the fire. He told Ryan that Mariah willingly got together with him back then only because he had told Mariah that he would be the only rightful heir to Pierce Group.

Ryan was depressed all day that day. He had been blaming Greg and Silvia for many years as he thought they were the reason he had to break up with Mariah.

He always thought that Mariah was forced by Greg to be with Rowan, but Rowan was now telling him that Mariah had done so willingly.

Ryan still remembered vividly that when he was with Mariah, he had mentioned to her more than once that he did not want to take over Pierce Group in the future as that was not the kind of busy life that he wanted. He did not want to be bound in Pierce Group’s circle, and he wanted a career where he could start from scratch.

He wanted to have a business that he worked hard to build on his own. The success and failure of his business would depend entirely on his ability and not his family’s power.
