CHAPTER 124

NATALIA

I took a deep breath as I was about to step outside of the pack house. My heart was heavy with conflicting emotions after I argued with Veronica. The night had started with such uncertainty, but now it seemed to be crumbling around me. I couldn't help but wonder what else could go wrong.

All I wanted was to escape from the drama and return to the safety of Sebastian's villa. But my hopes were dashed as I saw Romeo blocking my path. I hadn't seen him since the day I left the pack, and I had hoped it would stay that way. I had rejected him, and I didn't want to be anywhere near him.

However, it was inevitable. Here we were, standing in front of each other, the only difference was that we were alone in the darkness, and no one was around us. Everyone was out of the pack house, enjoying the Hunting Festival.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I looked into his piercing blue eyes. It was as if time had stood still, and we were the only two people in the world.

CHAPTER 125NATALIAFinally, the first night of the hunting festival had come to an end. As I looked around at the chaos and destruction that littered the once-beautiful forest clearing, I couldn't help but feel relieved that it was over. Thanks to the moon goddess, it had ended in a mess just as it had begun. As the night went on, I watched as some pack members were deported back to their assigned pack homes along with their children. It was a sombre sight, knowing that they wouldn't be able to join us for the rest of the festival. I felt a pang of sadness for them, knowing that they had been looking forward to this night just as much as I had.But there were those who had just turned the age of mating, and they were allowed to stay along with their mates to enjoy the after-party. The after-party was not officially part of the hunting festival, but it always seemed to happen that way. It was a time for the younger pack members to let loose and have some fun, to celebrate their newfoun

The mating season had begun, and the air was thick with the scent of desire and arousal.I tried to avert my gaze, but it was difficult not to stare at the couples around me, their bodies entwined in a primal dance of passion and need. I had spent the entire night making memories with Sebastian, exploring each other's bodies and losing myself in the pleasure of his touch. But now, as the sun began to rise and the birds started to chirp outside, I could feel the toll that our passion had taken on me. Every muscle in my body was sore, and I couldn't help but groan as I shifted positions in the bed.Sebastian stirred next to me, his arm draped over my waist. "Are you okay?" he murmured, his voice thick with sleep.I opened my eyes and turned to look at him. Despite my exhaustion, I couldn't help but feel a surge of desire as I took in his handsome face and tousled hair. NATALIAI stood outside my room, hesitating to turn the doorknob. My heart raced as I remembered the conversation with Romeo earlier that day. What if he was still in there, waiting for me? I couldn't bear the thought of facing him again, of reliving the embarrassment of his question. But I couldn't stay outside in the garden with Elvina forever. The sun was beginning to set, and I had things I needed to do. Taking a deep breath, I turned the doorknob and stepped inside. The room was empty, just as I had hoped. I let out a sigh of relief and closed the door behind me. As I walked further into the room, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease. What if Romeo was still around, lurking in the shadows?I shook my head, trying to dispel the thought. There was no reason for him to still be there. He had asked his question and I had successfully avoided giving the answer he wanted. It was over. But the more I thought about it, the more unsure I became. What if Romeo didn't accept my answer? Wh

CHAPTER 130ROMEOThe bright sun sipped in through the floor-to-ceiling windows of my office- that I built in the pack house so I didn't have to be away from the territory - casting a warm glow over everything in the room. The golden light warmed my skin as I sat at my desk, staring blankly at my computer screen. Outside, the pack was alive with the sounds of the morning rush hour. I could hear the honking of cars, the bustle of people moving, and the chatter of voices rising up from the street below.I took a sip of my whiskey, feeling the smooth liquid burn its way down my throat. It was the only thing that seemed to give me any sense of relief from the anger and bitterness that had been building up inside of me. The taste of the whiskey was comforting, like an old friend who knew all of my secrets. But even as I drank, I couldn't escape the emptiness that was gnawing at me from the inside out. The sounds of the city outside were bright and happy, but they only served to highlight h

The muted sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting a warm glow across the space. As I settled into my chair, the soft leather creaking beneath me, I caught Silas's eye. He dropped onto the chair on the other side of my glass desk and grabbed my half-empty bottle of whiskey. The crystal glass clinked against the neck of the bottle as he poured himself a generous amount.I leaned back in my chair and contemplated my next words for a moment before letting them out. Should I head to Natalia's now? Something just doesn't feel right, like there's an eerie cloud hanging over her due date."There was a pause on the other end, and then he asked, "What's going on?"It's hard to explain," I began, struggling to find the right words. "It's like there's something malevolent inside her, something beyond the ordinary. I can't shake this feeling that the child she's carrying isn't just a bundle of joy. It's like there's a darkness, and it's threatening both her and the baby."I could almost hear Romeo furrowing his brow on the other end. "Darkness?
