CHAPTER 117

ROMEO

I stood in my study room where I took care of the matters regarding my pack. I was talking with Elvina, the queen of the elves. We were discussing the upcoming hunt festival, which was just a few days away.

"So, Romeo," Elvina said, her voice musical and enchanting, "have you made all the necessary preparations for the hunting festival?"

I nodded absentmindedly, my thoughts elsewhere. I had been thinking about my mate, Natalia. Even though I was in the presence of the most beautiful of this realm, my mind was still clouded with Natalia's voice, her face and everything about her. I missed her terribly and couldn't focus on anything else.

"Yes," I said, trying to hide my distraction. "Everything is in order."

Elvina must've noticed my lack of focus, she was always quick to notice the change in someone's mood, and asked, "Is something bothering you, Romeo?"

I hesitated for a moment before answering. I didn't want to burden her with my problems, I was never a person to s

Should I head to Natalia's now? Something just doesn't feel right, like there's an eerie cloud hanging over her due date."There was a pause on the other end, and then he asked, "What's going on?"It's hard to explain," I began, struggling to find the right words. "It's like there's something malevolent inside her, something beyond the ordinary. I can't shake this feeling that the child she's carrying isn't just a bundle of joy. It's like there's a darkness, and it's threatening both her and the baby."I could almost hear Romeo furrowing his brow on the other end. "Darkness?
