Jason's POV
The air was thick with tension, and if something wasn't done about it, I feared it would ruin the rest of the night. Apparently, I wasn't the only one with that thought process. All around me, the rest of the party goers shuffled their feet awkwardly, each and everyone of them not wanting to meet the host’s gaze. When hushed and slightly raised voices began to reach my ears, I just knew it was gradually blowing out of proportion.
“Did you see that?” Someone whispered. His tone was pensive with a hint of mockery at the same time. “I never expected to witness so much drama tonight.”
“I think I'm glad this happened.” Another voice spoke up, and it belonged to a woman this time. “The party was beginning to get a tad boring.”
I tuned them out immediately, before pushing my gaze towards the scene in front of me. Mike had his back to me, and with the posture of his hand, it was obvious he was still cradling the spot where that lady had slapped him. With how loud the sound had resonated all around, I really didn't need anyone to tell me that it must have hurt as hell.
“Listen up guys.” Literally every pair of eyes turned to face me. I wasn't exactly a stranger, so it wasn't a hassle drawing the attention of the crowd. “ Starting from now till the end of the party, all drinks are on me.”
A loud cheer erupted, and that was all it took to get the party started again. As a good amount of the crowd scurried to the bar, I took the chance to go scout for Mike.
“Hey.” I caught up with him in no time. “You good?”
“Yeah.” My best friend was lying through his teeth. Mike wasn't the least bit fine; his cheek was glowing a bright shade of red, and I could bet my life that his cheek wasn't the only thing that was hurting. His ego had been affected too. “I'm fine.”
I knew better than to push Mike. If he said he was fine, then it was best to leave him till he was ready to talk about it. I huffed, before sneaking a glance around the party. The guests had quickly settled back into the party atmosphere, and just as I was about to turn back to Mike, something caught my eye.
No, not something. Someone.
I didn't have a clear view, all I had was the way her ass seemed to jiggle as she ran off. Her bikini didn't help matters either, as the pink material only left a handful to one's imagination.
“Did you see that?” I turned to Mike once she was gone. “Tell me you saw that, Mike.”
“What?” Mike still wasn't in the best of moods. “What are you talking about?”
“I'm talking about that lady who just ran off.” My gaze darted between the spot she was at just a couple seconds ago, before jumping back to Mike's face. “The one in the pink bikini.”
“Hey!” Mike snarled, totally cutting me off guard. In just two steps, he was standing close to me, our noses almost touching. He was staring at me eyeball to eyeball, and if there was any emotion that was clearly dancing behind his orbs, it was pure rage. “Don't you dare talk about my sister like that.”
“Liliana?” I couldn't believe my ears, or eyes either. “That's her? I swear I had no idea.”
Everyone knew in the pack knew Liliana. Just as they knew she was Mike's sister, everyone also knew she was wolfless.
I had barely gotten the thoughts out, before another one popped in my mind. From the corner of my eyes, I imagined Liliana standing where she was a couple of moments ago. She'd changed so much I barely recognized her.
Her bathing suit flattered her body, perfectly accentuating all of her curves and hugging her in the right places. The image of Liliana I'd just witnessed didn't last long though. A picture of Liliana wearing glasses popped up in my mind, pushing the previous one behind.
She was a good girl, but definitely not my type.
“Stay away from her.” Mike seethed. “I mean it.”
“Me too.” I threw my hands in mock surrender. “I really had no idea it was her, and you have nothing to worry about. You know the type of girls I like right? Huge breasts, sexy, with long legs and beauty overall. That, and the fact that she has to be great in bed. A literal beast.”
“Yeah.” Mike's lips lifted into a wry smile after that. “She's really not your type.”
The party going back into sync seemed to put Mike in a better mood. In no time, he was chugging down drinks, with the rest of the crowd cheering him on.
A small ping from my shorts interrupted my sightseeing. With scrunched up eyebrows, I pulled my phone out of my pocket just to come face to face with a notification on my screen. It was a message from an unknown sender at that too.
“Meet me at the wine cellar.” I read out its content slowly. “There's something for you.”
The text made no sense. First, I had no idea who had sent this and they were asking me to go to the cellar?
All it took was one last glance at the party before I made up my mind. With my hands stuffed into my pockets, I made my way towards the wine cellar.
It didn't take too long for me to get there.
“Hello?” I called warily, before stepping into the cellar fully. Perhaps if I had known what was waiting for me, I wouldn't have done that.
I had barely stepped into the cellar before the lights went off, but that wasn't even the surprising part. As I tried to figure out what had just happened, I heard rustling from a corner of the cellar.
I wasn't alone. There was someone else in here.
Putting one foot in front of the other, I slowly made my way towards the direction I'd heard the sound from. I had only taken a couple of strides when I figured out it was probably clueless walking in the dark.
I pulled out my phone, an attempt to light up the place, but before I could switch on the flashlight, someone slammed into me, knocking my phone down in the process. Like that wasn't enough, whoever it was pushed me, causing my back to come in contact with stone wall.
“Hey!” I exclaimed loudly. “What the hell was that…..”
The rest of my words hung at the base of my throat as someone's lips came crashing hard against mine.
Shit.
Jason's POV The world around me froze. My brain was muddled as I struggled to get a hold of what had just happened. Just a couple of minutes ago, someone's lips had pressed against mine. Was it real? The answer to my question didn't waste time in coming to me. A low moan reached my ears as someone nipped at my bottom lip. The feel of her teeth grazing over my lip sent chills down my spine and I shuddered. What exactly was going on?Dainty fingers wrapped around my neck, before snaking their way up my scalp. Her fingers did magic as they massaged my head, before tugging and pulling at the same time. That alone was enough to send me spiraling. With a low growl bubbling at the base of my throat, I parted my lips, granting her all the access she wanted.Pure bliss shot up my body as her tongue darted into my mouth. She tasted like strawberries, with a salty aftertaste that suggested she had been crying earlier. She smelled like vanilla, wrapped in cinnamon and I swear to the goddess
Liliana's POV My heart thundered in my chest at the words that had just slid past my lips a couple of minutes ago. I was known for always giving everything I said second thoughts before eventually spitting them out, but not tonight. Tonight, I was on fire, literally and metaphorically too.My skin burned with a heat that could only be traced to one person. We'd barely parted a bit to catch our breaths a little, but the tension in the air crackled, almost threatening to suffocate us if we didn't get back to it soon.Even in a million years, I never expected tonight to turn out like this. One minute I was scared and stuck in my room, and the next, I was in the cellar and making out with someone. Not just anyone, Alpha Jason. The mere thought of him was more than enough to have me warming up from the inside. Everything was just as it was in my dream, or even better. His hair had the same texture as I ran my fingers through it, and his lips, I would kiss them for the rest of my live
Liliana's POV The world around me seemed to slow to a halt as Jason's words rang loudly in my ears. My ears buzzed, and a small throb made its way to the back of my head. Why was Jason so hell bent on finding out who I was? Despite all of my attempts to distract him from knowing my name, none of them seemed to be working. No matter what I did, or what I tried, he was hell-bent on finding out my true identity, and there was no way I was going to let that happen. But if he found out, was it going to be that bad?Mike's words from earlier echoed in my ears immediately, like a painful reminder.“Jason doesn't like plain Jane's like you.” I dismissed the thought from my mind immediately. Alpha Jason and I were on totally opposite sides of the hierarchy. Without giving it a thought, I was sure if he found out my true identity right now, he would put an end to everything we had going on.“Cat got your tongue, little kitty?” Jason's low tone in my ear pulled me back to earth. I shivered
Liliana's POV The room was quiet, save for the tick tock from the clock hung way high up on the wall. It was a pretty black piece that matched with the dull pastel of my room, and while I usually adored it as one of the prettiest things in the room, I could no longer stand it. I wanted to take out its batteries or worse, smash something so hard against it that it would break. No, Liliana. I cautioned myself. The clock isn't your problem. And it was true. The piece of decoration wasn't my problem. In fact, I didn't even know what my problem was. I was furious, sad, heart broken and angry, all at once , and it was all thanks to one person. No matter how hard I tried to push it to the back of my mind, it always came back, and alongside that memory, was pain.“Not only is she wolfless, she's just as useless too.” Alpha Jason's words echoed in my ears. To be honest, I never saw him as the kind of person who could utter such words, especially not to me. I always wondered why he and Mik
Mike's POV “Where is it?” I muttered to myself as my eyes scanned the table in front of me. I'd lost count of how many times my eyes had scoured the table, but it didn't change anything. I still couldn't find it. “Where the hell is it?”A low hiss slid past my lips as I got up. I was sure I'd left it on my bedside table, so why wasn't it here anymore? Had someone snuck in and probably taken it? But who? Who would have come in here and taken it without my knowledge? My room was always locked, except for the night of the pool party. Was that when it had been taken? I shook my head. It still didn't make any sense. No one knew what they were used for, so why would they take it? I just needed to find it. I'm sure it's in here. It just has to be here.I headed to my wardrobe immediately. I swung open the wooden doors, and a loud creak followed, but I couldn't be bothered about that. One after the other, I pulled my clothes, before flinging them onto the bed. I didn't care about making
Liliana's POV I pressed my eyes shut, but only momentarily, reason being, if I were to stumble and fall, I would be left completely alone to deal with the pain and embarrassment that came with it. I wasn't alone, but I was sure before she would realize that I had fallen, Ciara would have had to finish talking about the man she just wouldn't stop talking about.“Isn't he dreamy?” Ciara's voice pulled me back to the present, forcing me to tune back into our conversation. “ You can't even deny that he isn't. He's just so hot it literally hurts.”I wanted to barf. Like literally throw up all over the walkway. If everything Ciara was saying happened to be how she truly felt about him, then she was in danger, serious danger, and needed help as soon as possible.“Are you even listening to me?” Ciara shot me a side glare and I nodded furiously. “Are you lying to me?”“No.” Yes. I wanted to yell out the words that she had no idea what she was saying and was totally romanticizing a total vi
Liliana's POV I couldn't believe my eyes, nor my ears. Even in a million years, I never saw myself going through something like this. I knew I was bad luck, but this was becoming an overkill. What exactly did I do to deserve all of this? First it was the moon goddess by not giving me my wolf, and now I had to deal with the universe too. Of all the people in the school, why did it have to be me? Why did that ball choose my direction to fly towards? It could have been anyone else, but why me?Despite the searing pain in my bones, I managed to peel my eyes open, just in time to see Jason walking away. Something surged through my bones, anger perhaps, but whatever it was, I just couldn't sit back and let Jason get away with it.“How dare you!?” I yelled, and despite my injuries, my voice came out pretty loud. Loud enough to catch Jason's attention even. A wave of cold raced down my spine as he halted in his tracks. He had obviously heard me, and now I had to wait for his reaction.M
Liliana's POV A soft breeze rustled by, causing the trees and the green grass to sway gently. A soft citrus scent filled the air, and I couldn't help but suck it all in. The sun was nowhere to be found, and clouds were scattered across the sky. It wasn't a rainy day, and the absence of the sun's harsh rays made it a perfect time to sunbathe or enjoy a little picnic. Birds chirped in the air and I was sure that if I took a picture of this moment, it would look like something straight out of a fairytale. As I stared at nature being nature, I forgot about all of my worries. Even though it was only temporary, I definitely didn't mind staying here forever. If I had known we were going to be having perfect weather today, then I would have prepared myself to enjoy it to the fullest.I had barely pressed my eyes shut to revel in the peaceful quiet that surrounded the place when a loud sound pierced my ear drums. It was a shriek, then followed by a loud thud right in front of me.I opene
Liliana's POV The clock on my bedside table rung loudly, and I sprung out of bed immediately. If I was being honest, I wasn't exactly sleeping. I had been awake for the past hour and I was only waiting for the alarm to go off. That way, not only did I have a reason to walk about the house, I was also sure that the very person I was looking for, was already awake.Mike.Even the mere thought of the man was more than necessary to erupt feelings I didn't like. They were all negative feelings, but no matter how hard I tried to shake it off, they just wouldn't budge. If there was one thing that refused to leave my mind, it was me and Mike's last interactions. It didn't leave my mind, and even after some days had passed, I still had vivid flashbacks of that little moment.“I love you, Liliana.” His words rang in my ear. “Why won't you listen to me?”I knew I was pretending to be unconscious when he had said that, but I always wish I could pretend it never happened. I had tried pushin
Liliana's POV A lot of things had been going wrong since I finally came around, but all of this was too much, even for me. I always heard that of you took a deep breath and tried to think things through, then you would come up with a logical solution for everything that had been happening. I should have known things that applied to everyone else wasn't exactly the same with me, and the fact that I always searched for a silver lining, was one of my biggest mistake, and I had just slipped up again.I stared at the man in front of me, a wave of emotions flashing on his face. I knew Mike wasn't the most straight forward person in the world, but this was a lot, even for me.When he had burst in here a couple of minutes ago, I hadn't expected it. If I was being honest, I legit thought he was going to storm into my room with someone else, Jason in particular. He was far from pleased when he realized I had called Jason. If I couldn't believe that I had called him either, how did I expect
Mike's POV I didn't want to, but I was already out of options at this point. Before doing it, my mind had whirled with a million and one other options, other things I could do instead of doing this, but no matter how hard I tried, I just wasn't able to come up with anything else. And like that wasnt frustrating enough, Liliana was being so damn stubborn. And I hated it.I stared at the young lady in my arms. Her eyes were closed, and as I stared at her, I watched her chest rise and fall ever so slowly. She was a peaceful little thing while she slept, and if that wasn't the biggest contrast to how stubborn she was while awake, then I had no idea what was.I ran a hand through her hair, the soft feel of her locs threading against my skin. I could get used to this, making her fall asleep in my arms, but no matter how much I wanted it, it didn't change the fact that it was only a far fetched dream. My eyes slid to her face, and for a minute, I was reminded of the little scene that ha
Liliana's POV A small groan was the first thing that slid past my lips the moment I came around. I wasn't fully awake, but that did nothing to lessen the pain that spread throughout my body. My eyes were pressed shut, and as a couple of seconds ticked by, I realized something; I didn't necessarily want to open my eyes. At least not now.I had no idea what the moon goddess had in store for me, but one thing was clear. Whatever it was, I needed to go through a certain amount of pain before it unfolded. I was barely recovering from gaining consciousness all over again, when something hit me in the sides. An intense jolt spread through my body. Accompanied by an even more intense blast of heat, I almost thought I had been left at the bottom of a volcano just waiting to erupt.I felt beads of sweat slide down my face, but that wasn't all. A dull ache nagged at me from the back of my skull and I could swear I was this close to exploding. For some strange reason, I couldn't feel my limbs,
Liliana's POV My heart thundered in my chest throughout the journey home. No matter how hard I tried, it wouldn't calm down. I even did a number of breathing exercises ranging from counting from one to a certain number, and even counting the many cars that sped past us on the road, but nothing was working. I even tried meditating and ignoring the problem at hand.Maybe if I kept on with it for so long, the problem would disappear. Perhaps, if I pretended that all of what had happened in the hospital ward was nothing but a hallucination, all of it would disappear. I pressed my eyes shut, willing everything to go away. I had no idea how, but maybe if I kept my eyes closed for too long, it would actually work.I wasn't exactly sure how much time I had spent with my eyes closed, but a small part of me knew it was a lot. I had pressed my eyes shut the moment Mike had pulled me out of the hospital ward. I couldn't even bring myself to look at him in the face. He had grabbed onto my hand
Liliana's POV My mind whirled with a million and one questions and thoughts. They were all mumbled up and jumbled together, but one thing stood out perfectly fine. The fact that I was in trouble, or about to be, rather.I stared at the young man in front of me. It has been over an hour since he gulped down the glass of milk I had offered him. Over an hour since a blanket of red rashes spread across his skin. Not only that, his nose had taken on a sickly shade of green, and his eyes, they were puffy and almost red. If I didn't know better, I would have said they were on the verge of popping out from his skull.Actually, I didn't know better, so what if they were about to burst from his eye sockets?I shook my head, but it did nothing to push the fear and worry I was feeling. Anxiety swirled in the pit of my stomach, and no matter how hard I tried to get a hold of it, it didn't work. I was nervous, nervous because the probability that I was going to be arrested for murder seemed t
Liliana's POV I hadn't even thought it through before pressing my lips against his. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that if I gave it too much thought, the chances that I was going to chicken out of actually doing it were high, and I was only going to regret not taking my chance, sooner or later.I didn't want to be the girl to regret, so I acted without thinking. I pressed my lips against Jason's.Unlike the former kisses we had shared, this one was different, and I could already tell the moment our lips touched each other. While the others were rushed with intensity slipping in and out of our mouths, this was the complete opposite. It was warm and slow, and it made my stomach churn. In a good way of course. Not only that, his touch was gentle, and I found myself leaning into him. Unlike the Jason I knew, or more specifically, the Jason that adored his wild kitty, his kiss warmed me up from the inside, and what made it all the more worth it, was the fact that it wasn't in any
Liliana's POV For the next couple of minutes, I stood rooted to my spot. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't bring myself to move. It was said that a tiny part of the brain was in charge of each and every movement that went down in the human body. Without that part, or if it were to be slightly damaged, then there was no way you would be able to move a finger, talk more of your entire body.As I struggled to figure out why I couldn't move, a tiny thought made its way to my mind.Had my brain shut down somehow? But if it had, how was I still able to stand and even think?I had barely asked myself that question before something else popped up in my mind. It was an answer to my question, and somehow, it didn't exactly make me feel better.I was in shock. If a sorcerer had come here a couple of minutes back to tell me all that would play out after my little sparring session with Jason, then best believe I was going to laugh my head off.I willed the thoughts to disappear, but
Liliana's POV The moment I stepped into the school hallway, my gaze landed on the small group of people gathered in the corner. It was a Monday morning, and honestly, it was a sore sight, even for me to see. On most Mondays, most students miled about in the hallways, each and everyone eager to get to their classes. They never missed their first classes, but with the crowd gathered just in front of me, I wasn't sure the first class was even going to hold.My ehes glanced around the hallway, and a small wave of sadness washed over me when I didn't see Ciara. She was my backbone when it came to things like this and I hated not having her around. Were she here, she would have already figured out why the other students were gathered at the corner and what they were looking at. Now that she wasn't here, how the hell was I going to find out what was going on now?I hovered around in my spot for a couple more minutes, waiting for them to leave. The goddess must have heard my prayer beca
