*****Henry****

Sweat beaded on my forehead as I prepared myself for what was to come. I closed my eyes tightly and waited for the inevitable punishment. I know Diego will grab my lie and will not leave me unscathed. The fear of his anger consumed me as I awaited my fate.

A warm breath brushed against my ear as Diego whispered, “You know, the conquests of lies will be harsh, but you still decided to deceive me.” Diego’s words made my heart pound even faster, knowing that I had made a grave mistake. The weight of my deception hung heavy in the air as I braced myself for the repercussions of my actions.

“Leave him, Diego; you have your Warth with me, not with him.” Xavier’s voice came from the back, attempting to diffuse the tension between Diego and me. But Diego’s anger seemed to be too intense to be easily quelled, and I knew I had to face the consequences of my deceit alone.

“You both, brothers...” Diego said but paused with a smirk that sent a chill down my spine. His eyes narrowed

****Henry****“Now...” Xavier shouted, making me change into my wolf.Within a second, in front of my eyes, I watched Xavier doing something no Alpha had ever done before—he shifted into his wolf form. Instead, I focused on pushing my legs to their limits, determined to escape the looming danger behind us

Henry***The Dark Moon Pack stands before us, but it’s no longer the sanctuary we left. The heavy wooden gates creak open slowly, revealing a scene that steals my breath. The courtyard is unrecognizable—charred earth, broken weapons scattered like fallen leaves, and the air thick with the coppery tang of blood. The silence is oppressive, broken only by the faint groans of the injured. The once-proud walls of the packhouse bear deep gashes, as if claws—or something far worse—had torn through them. My stomach turns. This isn’t just an attack. It’s a massacre.Xavier’s hand tightens around mine, his fingers trembling despite the resolve on his face. “Henry,” he whispers, his voice tight. “Stay close.”I grip his hand tighter, steadying him. “I should be the one telling you that.”We step through the gates together, the weight of the destruction pressing down on us like a physical force. The first figure we see is Diego. • My Stepbrother, My Mate   115 Shadows of Betrayal

Xavier***The winds howl around us, their mournful cries carrying the cold scent of decay, mingling with the sharp tang of ozone in the air. The meadow that once felt like home trembles beneath the weight of something dark, something ancient returning. The earth cracks beneath our feet, the soil splitting as if it, too, can feel the shadows coming. The abyss is back. But this time, it feels different—more alive, more potent. The very land seems to shrink from it, as though the darkness is consuming everything in its path.I feel it before I see it—the chill that presses into my skin, the icy fingers that crawl across my chest. It’s not just the cold; it’s the menace, the raw malice that’s clinging to the air. I look at Henry beside me, his skin pale, but his determination sharper than I’ve ever seen it. His hand grips mine tightly, and for a moment, I think maybe I can hold him together if the darkness tries to tear him apart. But the air presses in, thick, suffocating, and I can feel

Henry***The void was unrelenting, pulling me deeper into its suffocating embrace. Xavier’s hand in mine was the only anchor I had left, his presence a fragile tether in this endless expanse of darkness. My mind screamed for air, for light, but the abyss was greedy, devouring every shred of hope it could find. The whispers returned, sharper now, their venom aimed at my heart.“You were born to fail, Henry. It’s your destiny, no matter how hard you fight.”“An Omega like you can never be an Alpha.”“Xavier will slip through your fingers.”“Your pack will crumble, and you will be the cause.”Each word struck like a blade, but I clung to Xavier’s hand as though it was the only thing keeping me alive. I couldn’t let go—not of him, not of the future we’d fought so hard to protect.“Henry,” Xavier said softly, his voice cutting through the din like the first ray of dawn. “You have to listen to me. This place—it’s feeding off your fears. You can’t fight it the way you fight everything else.”

Henry****The doppelganger leaned closer, and I could feel its cold breath like a gust of winter, creeping across my skin. "Do you have the strength to face the abyss?" it sneered, as if daring me to prove myself. The walls around me seemed to shift, the grotesque carvings twisting and changing, almost alive. It was as though the very space was reacting to the battle inside my mind. The whispers of the rogues filtered through, faint but insistent, grounding me in the present. This was more than a test of strength. I had to fight, not just for myself, but for Xavier, for the pack that had always stood by me, for everything that had led me to this moment.I stood there, a storm of memories raging within me. The presence of my doppelganger felt all-consuming. The eerie carvings on the walls seemed to leer, mocking my every step. But I wouldn't give in. The abyss wasn't just a place—it was a twisted reflection of everything I feared, everything I doubted about myself. It was built to brea

Henry***The pulse of light ahead grew stronger, throbbing in rhythm with the unease tightening my chest. Each flicker illuminated the jagged peaks of the mountains like skeletal remains of some long-forgotten beast. The rogues behind me were silent now, their usual gruff chatter replaced by the weight of what lay ahead.I could feel it—an oppressive energy that seemed to seep into my bones. It wasn’t just magic. It was ancient, older than the pack, older than anything I had ever known. My paws hesitated mid-step, the instinct to retreat battling fiercely with the drive to push forward.“Henry,” one of the rogues whispered, his voice trembling. “Are you sure we should keep going?”I turned to face him, my eyes narrowing. “You can leave if you want,” I growled, my voice low and steady. “But I will not turn back now.”He swallowed hard but didn’t answer. I knew he wouldn’t abandon me, even as fear clawed at his resolve. None of them would.“Then we press on,” I said firmly, though my vo

Henry***The pack’s respect felt good, but it wasn’t enough. Not yet.I couldn't shake the feeling that, despite this victory, I wasn't fully ready to bear the weight of command. There was still something unsettled in me, a hollow ache, an emptiness where confidence should be. Xavier’s disappearance loomed like an ever-present shadow, darkening every victory.“Diego,” I said, my voice firm but laced with urgency. “I have to find him. The pack can follow me, but I can't lead them without Xavier. He's still out there... lost, caged, somewhere.”Diego's eyes softened with concern, and his brow furrowed. “You’ve just fought for your place, Henry. You need rest. The pack—"“The pack will survive,” I interrupted, shaking my head. “But I can’t. Not without him. I have to find him.”"I know how it feels when one's mate is in danger." Diego sighed heavily, but there was no hesitation in his voice when he spoke again. "I’ll help you. You’re not alone in this."His words hit me harder than I exp

Henry***Dean's snarl pierced the silence, a warning that this battle would be unlike any other. Then, like a shadow breaking free, Dean lunged, claws flashing under the moonlight. His roar shattered the silence as he aimed for my throat, trying to kill me in one shot.I twisted sharply, Dean’s claws grazing my shoulder instead of tearing into my throat. Pain seared through me, but I didn’t let it slow me down. My body moved on instinct, spinning on my hind legs, baring my teeth, and launching myself at him with a speed that startled even me.Our bodies collided, a feral clash of fur and muscle that sent shockwaves rippling through the ground. The pack recoiled, the circle of wolves tightening as some flinched, while others leaned forward, hungry for the outcome. My teeth sank into Dean’s foreleg, the copper tang of blood flooding my mouth as he let out a guttural snarl.Dean thrashed violently, throwing me off with sheer force. I hit the ground hard, dirt spraying around me, but I wa

Henry***Dean’s voice sliced through the night, dripping with scorn. "The omega wants to play Alpha," he drawled, his smirk sharp enough to cut. The crowd of wolves parted around us, forming a wide circle. Their movements were almost synchronized, as if compelled by an unspoken force. Shadows flickered under the dim moonlight, their eyes glowing with a mixture of curiosity and dread. Whispers rippled through the ranks, barely audible over the low growls of those in wolf form. The tension was palpable, an electric charge in the air that seemed to grow with every breath.I swallowed hard, feeling the weight of countless eyes on me. Doubt clawed at the edges of my resolve, a voice in my mind whispering of failure. What if they were right? What if I wasn’t ready? But then another thought flickered in the back of my mind, uninvited but insistent. What if Dean’s not just here to fight me? What if he has something to do with Xavier’s disappearance? The thought hit me like a punch to the gut.

  • My Stepbrother, My Mate   108 The Heir’s Gamble

Henry***The night air was electric as the growl of engines shattered the silence. A fleet of sleek, armored vehicles snaked through the dense forest, their headlights cutting through the shadows like blades. At the center of it all was a black Rolls-Royce, its polished exterior gleaming ominously under the pale moonlight. The vehicle was a statement—a declaration of power, wealth, and unshakable authority.Inside the Rolls-Royce, Diego sat beside me, his expression calm yet commanding. He adjusted the cuff of his tailored suit, the glint of his rings catching the light. "Remember, Henry," he said, his voice steady, "this is not just a visit. It’s a demonstration. We’re not asking for their allegiance—we’re claiming it."I nodded, my gaze fixed ahead. The seat beneath me was plush, but I felt the weight of responsibility pressing down harder than ever. I just wish Xavier were fine while I carried out this mission. Diego's confidence was contagious, but I couldn't shake the feeling of
