I was running, my feet pounding against the damp earth, the darkness closing in around me like a suffocating shroud.

The forest was alive, the trees twisting and writhing like living serpents, their branches reaching out to snag at my clothes and scrap my skin. Every step felt heavy, as if I was wading through quicksand.
