Esthers POV;
It's night already and Dayo has gone to drop off his little angels at their aunty's place. He is a very busy mam hence his children don't live with him.
I am alone in the house and am dusting all the furniture in his living room as there's nothing to do.
The television became boring not too long ago and so did my phone. I am listening to music whilst dusting and I come in contact with a seemingly old photo album.
I pick up and dust it. Fascinated by its size and design. It's just as beautiful as it is huge. I help myself to a couch before opening the album.
The first picture I see causes my eyes to widen. Its a picture of Derrick, Dayo, Ayo, Tobi and late Ike.
They were in university when they took this picture. Not much has changed about Ayo he's just as lanky as in his university days. Dayo gained some weight and heig
Dayos POV; Derrick just called a few minutes ago to inform me of Esthers fear of thunder and darkness and that I should go check up on her. However, when I went to check on her, she said she was fine and seemed to not want nor need help. So I really don't know how to help her if she needs it. She'd better be fine for her own sake. I pull off my shirt and singlet, and dump my body on my bed. The power has just been cut and being that it's raining, all the windows are shut, to avoid any coming in. Which means heat is building up. I am startled into a sitting position when Esther barges into my room screaming my name. "Dayo! Dayo! " She doesn't just stop there, but jumps unto my bed and grabs my arm. Shaking like a vibrating cell phone. "What is it? "I question and she looks at me panting heavily. &
Narrators Narrative; Dayo and Esther are at the enterance of Dayos room, sharing an intimate moment. A moment of love. Dayo has realized and accepted his love for Esther, while Esther in the hand, has no idea that she has fallen head over hills for him. The fact that she's craving him at a point like this, a point which is meant to be her time of distraught as she's almost four months pregnant for a man she can't find, has no proof against her assaulter, has been thrown out by her father and her lover never really loved her. The fact that she craves Dayo after all this, baffles her. So she concludes it's lust and nothing more. However, she has fallen for Dayo. She has long seeked someone who would cherish her, take control, love her endlessly. Someone who would stand by her no matter how bad things get, and these features, she sees in Dayo. Leading to the budding love for him in her heart. Her palms rest on his chest an
Dayos POV; I spent all night thinking about Esther. Wondering why she never fights me off when I try to get close to her. Wondering how she feels when I touch or hold her. Does she want it? Or is she just scared? What if she's scared of me now? What if she only does the things she does out of fear? After all, she was only a timid little girl when I first met her. My longing for her keeps intensifying with every passing day. Every morning when I watch her lazily walk about the house. When she walks with her eyes half closed to avoid loosing her sleep. The glow her tender, fair skin gives off every morning. And her messed up hair sticking out of her hair net. Like a little girl who needs a fathers help getting ready. I never intended to fall for her. Not when Derrick is her older brother. If wrong steps are taken, my friendship with Derrick might suffer a nasty blow. A blow I would only hope our friendship will survive. I love
Dayos POV; Mr. Adebayo makes to run after his daughter but I grab his arm to hold him back. First of all, this is my house and I will not have anyone running about it without my consent. Be it best friends father or not. Secondly, is this not the same man who called his daughter a waste of space, a mistake, a harlot and a disgrace to her late mother? I won't let him go after her. Not until he gives me a tangible reason for showing up at my house so early in the morning and spoiling her mood like that. "Dayo my son, i'm so sorry. Look, I know I have made numerous mistakes and I won't try to justify myself or deny them. However, now, my son has brought it to my realisation how horrible a parent I have been and how much I need to be a better person. But most importantly, how much I need to be a better parent. Look, I'm sorry for all I said that day and all I did. I can't, I can't justify it at all. So I'm just here to be
Derrick POV; I'm on my way to Lisa's house. It's been a while since I last saw her and she's been worried about me. I told her that I have been busy with some things. In quote, 'minor issues' but I never really gave her an insight on anything that has been happening. So, I can fully understand her worry. This morning alone has been drama-filled for me. I went with my dad to Dayos house to try convince Esther to please come back home with us, but she refused. Saying she meant it when she said she was never coming back. All three of us. I, my dad and Dayo tried to convince her but she didn't budge. I pull up at Lisa's house and her jolly gate man greets me. I smile at the Igbo looking hausa man and hand him a thousand Naira note. Our usual tradition. One in which he greets and I give him money for being polite. I Walk under the morning sun's warm shine to Lisa's front door. I ring the doorbell
Derrick POV; "Is this the place? " my father questions. Pulling up a little distance away from the Imperial Hotel. "Yes sir." I reply, staring at the hotel that began everything. The hotel where all these problems started. "Alright then. "He says as he drives towards the hotel. The gate man dressed in blue. A light blue shirt and deep blue Pants opens the gates for us and my dad drives in. In case you're wondering, I'm back from Lisas place. We came to a conclusion that our wedding would be a small secret one. One in which only our closest friends would be invited. We agreed that after having a small one, and we are legally called husband and wife, we can then proceed to having a grand wedding as her father would not be able to do anything about the fact that we are already married by then. And right now, I am with my father at the Imperial Hotel. He decided that, although Esth
Dayos POV; "You will not raise your voice at me in my office! "The woman screams at me and anger explodes like a bomb in me. "Listen here old woman, my sister is currently going through so much pain and I will stop at nothing to help her. So if you get in my way, I shock you in ways you could never ever imagine. Do you understand! "I scream at her and the look of shock gets plastered on her face. "Derrick, "I hear my father call, but I ignore him. "Don't talk to me like that! I am old enough to be your mother! What sort of woman raised you? "She screams and for a split second, all I see is red."Don't you dare say another word against my mother with that black hole you call a mouth! "I bark at her and she jumps a bit. "Excuse you ma'am, I will not have you talk about my late wife like that. "My father replies and I clench my fist. Why does he find it necessary to explain th
Tobi POV; Ike's burial has been fixed. I called Ayo, Derrick and Dayo to be sure they are on their way and Derrick and Dayo told me they are there while Ayo still needs a lift. My little sister just lost her job and she's finding it difficult to stay home alone. Hence she opted to follow me to the burial of someone she doesn't even know. I'm older than Rose by a year but we behave like there's no age gap between us and sometimes, people often even ask if we're a couple. It's silly, but Rose always replies with a yes. Talk about a one of a kind sister. I remember once when she said so at a party. To the hearing of a girl I was hoping to later ask out. Long story short, I lost the girl cause she thought my sister and I were a 'couple'. "Rose! Let's go! "I scream for the third time this morning at my sister who won't come out of her room. "I'm coming. Just one minute! "She calls back. "You said
