SKY POV

There comes a point in life where your mind, your heart, and soul just decide:

Enough is enough.

You don’t know when that happens. It doesn’t warn you. But when it does, you just stop taking all the bullshit thrown at you. I don’t know what snapped inside of me, but I was fuckin’ glad that it did. Because I was tired. I was fed up with being thrown to the wolves my entire life. If that was my fate, being judged and mocked, being accused and hated for all the wrong reasons, then fuck hate, fuck people, and fuck everything else.

I was the one in charge of my own fate.

Scanning through that contract, I thought it would hurt to find that my parents disregarded me that much. But weirdly, it didn’t. I was used to being overlooked by them and it didn’t matter anymore. I was now my own person, and Campbell was no longer my last name.

I was a Smith. And that only was enough because like my last name, everything else was in for the change.

Going downstairs after my little encounter with my DEAR HUSBAND, note that sarcasm, I found Arthur and Cassie in the dining room, with a whole buffet on the table in front of them.

“Skylar. I am so glad you could join us, come.” She got to her feet and gestured at the seat on Arthur’s right. I eyed it with questions in my eyes and looked at Arthur if it was okay, but he was occupied with his croissant that he didn’t seem to realize what was happening.

“Isn’t that Kayden’s seat?” The rules in the rich families, I knew them damn well. Helloooooo, I know it sounds crazy but I am a rich girl as well. The biggest and loneliest chair belonged to the head of the family. The left one belonged to the spouse and the right one; you guessed it, the jewel of the family.

“Oh, no silly. Kayden barely joins us for breakfast. Come now.” She said with a smile, and why not?

I took my place by Arthur’s side and quickly piled some goodies on my plate. Surprisingly, the conversation with my in-laws was easy. Unlike my parents, they seemed to be interested in what I had to say, and they seemed to be intrigued by every word that comes out of my mouth.

“If you need any funding or any help of a sort, just tell me and I will pull some strings. I know people who know people, and we can wound our way in your industry.” Arthur offered, and I found my face splitting up in the biggest grin. He was nice, beneath that big angry bad boy façade he pulled every time, he was nice. Heck, why didn’t Kayden inherit some of his good traits? Because aside from the looks, Kayden was his own person. Nothing like the two people sitting in front of me.

“Thank you, Mr. Smith,” I said with a smile,

“It’s Arthur. Or dad. We’re family now.” Whaaaaaaaaat? Was this real?

“Speaking of which, your wedding dress. I have never seen anything like it. It was so beautiful. You designed it?” Cassie beamed glaring at me. I may be wrong, but her eyes were literally sparkling. It felt… nice. To be heard. It really felt great.

“Yes. I spent the five days gap designing the gown and the reception dress. I just wanted something of my own… since….” Oh no, Skylar. Don’t go there. These people are nice and they took you as family.

“Ooooh, honey. We understand. But know that things are going to be different now. The Smiths take care of their own.” Cassie cooed, and I smiled softly at her. Was I in a dream or something? Because if I was, then I was going to hate it when I woke up to find that all this was just a nice dream.

“What are your plans for today? I am sure you don’t have much planned; you married Kayden for crying out loud. That asshole cares about nothing except his work.” Arthur said glaring at his red velvet cake.

“I am going back to my studio to do some stuff. It’s not much though, we are working on this Haute couture for the upcoming MEA Awards. We normally close some real contracts during these kinds of seasons” I replied,

“If you won’t be that busy then Donnie-Lyn will take you to your house. I don’t trust Kayden to do that.” He replied simply, and here I was about to lose my shit,

“My house?” What was he talking about? I had a little nice penthouse in the city, and I loved it to the moon and back.

“We figured you wouldn’t want to live with your in-laws. So Arthur and I bought you two a house, as a wedding gift.” Cassie gleamed with a pleasant smile. I wonder how she managed to be on cloud nine, always! But, what the hell?

“Does Kayden know about this?” I asked instead. Heck, this was all too much. I mean yeah I get it, we married on a whim and never really paid attention to what the future may hold for us, but I never envisioned living under the same roof with that dicktard, like ever. And I am afraid we were going to murder each other even before making it off the front porch.

“He does. But like I said, I don’t trust him enough to handle it. So Donnie-Lynn will take you there and get everything else you need. Additional maidservants, everything. Just tell her and we will have it delivered to you.” He said tapping his mouth with his serviette gently, then pushed out of his chair and gave us warm smiles,

“And that’s my cue. I have things to deal with at the company.” He said, and then leaned down to kiss his wife on his lips before leaving us. Cassie watched her husband leave, with a dreamy look in her eyes. Nigga was in looooove!

“He is such a fine man, isn’t he?” Weeeeeeeeell….

“He is. He is very nice.” I replied, because what else could I do?

“Okay. SO how about I go with you? I personally decorated every inch of that house and I so can’t wait for you to see it.”

Wasn’t an arranged marriage supposed to be like, a very giant pain in the ass or something? And the in-laws, weren't they supposed to be cranky and annoying and pretty much evil?

Because this really felt unreal.

"Yeah sure. We can go if that is okay with you. I am sure Donnie-Lynn has her hands full with the cleaning and everything." I replied trying to mask the shock. But inside, I was screaming!

"Oh my soul, I am so excited. And your studio, do you mind if I come along? It is really boring to be a housewife and I don't much to do. I could go to my ladies as usual, but I just want us to get to know each other better. It is okay if you feel like it is not time yet to have me all over your place, I totally get it. But really, I would love to see your studio." She said all these with her hands clapped on her chest.

"I don't see a problem with that. Plus we are having some new goodies so yeah..."

"Yayyyyy..."

WOLF POV“How is it being married?”Kennedy’s voice called out from the receiver of my phone. I heaved out a huge sigh before responding, and the fucker went down with a fit of laughter.“Is it that bad?” I am very glad that he found my misery amusing. He deserved the award for being the best friend in the entire world,“Let’s see, from being slapped on your wedding reception, to being told to ‘go fuck yourself where the sun doesn’t shine and to being compared with a giant pimple in the ass, which of course, hurts, all in a span of 12 hours after the wedding, I should rather say, marriage life is fuckin’ great..” Note the sarcasm. But that didn’t stop the dickhead of a friend I have, because he laughed even harder. At some point, I found myself laughing along with him. Just the mere thought of the recent events was screwing with my mind.“She sounds like a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to meet her.” Yeah right, only Kennedy got to be smug around me, and then actually got away wit

SKY POV “This place is amazing.”I commented running my hands on the smooth black marble countertop on the kitchen island, then glanced behind me at the giant cupboards that were literally, a floor and a half up from the ground. This house had to be like, a model house. Something put there just for show and for everyone to admire. Nothing else, and definitely not one to live in.It was extravagant. The interior, the décor, the structure itself, because everywhere my eyes landed, all I could see was glass that was blended perfectly into the cemented and painted walls. The railings, the stairs, even some of the pillars, were nothing but pure glass. and it was beautiful. “So, you like it?” Cassie stood opposite me on the other side of the kitchen island, hands clasped on her chest as she anxiously waited for my response. She had to be shitting me. This…“Are you kidding? This is insane. In all honesty, I have never, not even in my wildest dream ever thought of something like th

WOLF POVSumming up my day and subtracting the distracting pictures I received from my mother, which were now, of course, in my phone's trash can, today was…. AMA-ZING!And it would have ended even better if my father didn’t force me to go to my ‘marital house’ as soon as I clocked off from work. On a very serious note, I was looking forward to our drinks with Kennedy. I had a lot to tell him, a lot to share with him about how proud I was of all I have achieved, and how I was going to work harder to steer this ship to sail in the right direction. But no, he and mom had other plans. And those plans included… you guessed it. Skylar Candy Campbell. I meant Smith. She was a Smith now and she was tied down onto me. Couldn’t life get any weirder? Arriving at my mansion, it felt suffocating. Not because I was going to meet my nemesis of a wife, but because this house only, the very structure and architecture of it, had been reserved for something great, something beautiful and most definite

  • My Sister’s Fiancée   Chapter 11

SKY POVThere was nothing that made me incredibly happy in this life, than putting Kayden in his rightful place. For starters, my sister’s fiancée, or wait; my husband was an arrogant ball sack who thought that the world revolved around him.Secondly, I wanted him to know that I was more than my sister’s shadow, so much more than the world painted me. I was my own person, I had my own life and dreams to chase, and if I was to be stuck in this sham of a marriage, then I was going to make both of us miserable, at least him being more miserable made it all worth it.If we were going down, then we were fuckin’ falling together.Even if it meant denying him food while it was written all over his face that he was hungry. It was cold, I know, but I fuckin’ loved it. The look on his face when I dumped the remains made it all worth it and then patting his shoulder on my way to my bedroom, was a damn lullaby. I slept with a giant smile on my face. They say a path to a man's heart is through his

WOLF POVToday passed in a big muddled blur of crazy. The meetings were endless, and the whole planning was driving my mind to an endless limbo. But then again, doing what you always love and what you are passionate about is always like a double-edged sword. You subject yourself to a sweet kind of agony only because your mind keeps begging for more. The more you delve deeper into it, the more enchanted you feel. Your body may fight against it, but the pain is so sweet that you want more and more of it. It's crazy, I know.By the time it reached 5 pm, I was completely and utterly whacked. Tired didn’t even begin to explain what I was feeling. All I could think of was how badly I needed a good soak in a hot tub and just let the warmth of the water soothe my sore muscles, and then after that, straight to bed. Nothing else. Not even the Gorgo of a wife I left at home. That woman…I was glad that I haven’t thought about her at all during the day, FUCK. I just did.The fact that she brazen

SKY POV ‘Remember that party back in training where you had to force yourself to puke?’I sent a text from my phone and then glanced up to find people lazing around with expensive wines and drinks in their hands. I heaved a small sigh to myself and then glanced back at my phone at the three dots.‘Ugh… Sophia’s birthday? How could I ever forget that disaster?’Diego replied, and then sent in puking emojis that had me snorting out some laughter.‘Okay, now take that situation, and dump a bunch of potbellied men dressed in tuxedos and their wives clamped in pearls. And all of them pretending to love the idea of being here.'Seriously, this had to be the most boring party in the entire universe. And fun fact, everyone looked like they could rather be anywhere than here. There was nothing special about this. The music was awful, and the atmosphere itself was depressing. It was more of a social gathering, the music, the food, the fuckin' theme itself. Everything was just so monochrom

WOLF POV “WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?”I slammed the car do and continued behind her as she sashayed towards the door, with a little sway in her hips. Was it the heels? But I couldn’t give a damn, at least not right now. I was ready to tear down all those walls just to kick the shit out of her, or I swear I was going to smother her in her sleep.“Oh, please Kayden. I am way too tired to deal with you right now. I just want to sleep peacefully.” She fired back without looking, then pushed the door open and proceeded further into the house, and oh hell no. Little Missy had some explaining to do.“You aren't sleeping unless you tell me what the fuck was all that. Just what the hell were you hoping to achieve with that little stunt you pulled?” That got her attention because she stopped in her tracks and turned to face me,“A stunt? Or do you mean to say ‘thank you Skylar for helping me retrieve the money I spent on the most boring and nut-kicking party I planned, and for actua

  • My Sister’s Fiancée   Chapter 15

SKY POVIt’s been a couple of weeks, close to a month since I have officially been trapped in this hell hole that looked like a palace. We still fought like cats and dogs but in all honesty, it was mild now. We naturally stepped into our own lanes in order to avoid bothering each other, and it was almost peaceful. Since my last snap at his head and him owning it and apologizing, our days were the usual routine life of him getting early for his gym and having breakfast prepared by the maids (because I never wasted my time and energy cooking him breakfast unless I was feeling too merciful), and then leaving for work without a word. Sometimes when he felt like it, he would knock on my door for a small ‘good morning’ and then leave. In the evenings, he would either be very late that he finds me asleep, or he is way too early that I have to sit with him at the dinner table and try to keep myself from clawing his eyes out. See, it was all good. And frankly, the more I spent time with him,

  • My Sister’s Fiancée   Epilogue

EPILOGUE ~A YEAR LATER~SKY POV“Are you ready?” Arthur’s rough gravel voice called out from behind me causing my eyes to move from my reflection and land on his in the mirror. Dressed in an emerald green suit, he looked like a model who jumped straight off the photo shoot booth and came here to bless my day. Even though he had faint gray hairs in his thick mane, he looked his part and he knew how to pull one just the right way. I smiled heartily and stepped out of my seat, then walked to him and gave him a big hug.“You look amazing.” He said before accepting my hug, then rocked me side to side for a good minute and pushed back,“Kayden is going to lose it.” He said causing me to chuckle. “Now you're only exaggerating.” “He is not.” Samantha stepped from behind Arthur, dressed in an olive green gown that hugged her body well, only to split in half when it reached her thigh and pooled around her legs. To say she was beautiful would be an understatement.“Everyone is beginning to th

SKY POV~TWO MONTHS LATER~“One more surprise, Kayden, I swear you will marry yourself.”I huffed trying to push my big tummy forward and cradled my waist with my hands from my behind, then annoyingly stared at my husband-slash-fiancée who came out of the living room trying to hide his laughter, but only to fail miserably upon my clearly unfazed expression. He walked into the lobby to find me waiting for him, glaring at him and wanting nothing but to hurt his pretty face.“And I promise, this is the last time.” He tried to smooth as he walked passed me and placed himself right at my behind, with his front pressed against my back. I fought the urge to lean back into his hold and decided to stand my ground. I wasn't going to allow myself to be swayed.“Come here.” He didn’t wait for me to refute, no. Instead, he rounded his arms around me and supported my tummy from beneath, then gently lifted the bulging weight that was seriously going to kill me one of these days. I was well at the 39

KAYDEN POV“SURPRIIIIIIIIIIIISE.”The rest of the squad cheered as soon as I yanked off the blindfold from her face. She remained stoic for a few heartbeats before her mind slit back to the present, then started laughing and crying at the same time as she received hugs from the girls. The boys knew that stepping close to my woman was a big no-no, and that my pregnant woman was as unreachable as the stars. So they did all they could and stole kisses on her cheeks, which was still unacceptable, but then again, I decided to let them have their moment since they were enjoying this more than they probably should. 30 minutes later, we were seated on the floor watching as she opened bazillion presents bought by our friends. Honestly, I didn’t know they would go above and beyond for this thing, especially when I have all organized it in a short period of time. It didn't even take the full 24 hours but they were all in. “I kind of knew it was coming so I started preparing gifts,” Oli reveale

SKY POVThe painful memories as well as the haunting shadows of agony were slowly swept away by the firm tides of time, and every day my body changed visibly and profoundly as the lives inside of me grew bigger and bigger. My daily life was impacted extremely and I knew it intimately I was going to have one hell of a hard time bringing the cubbies to life.It was safe to say the pregnancy wasn't all bananas as I had hoped, but with all that pain and struggle came love I never knew was possible. Kayden was aware of my struggles and how the pregnancy was taking a toll not just on my body, but on my mind as well, and my man did all he that was in his power to share the burden with me. As much as it hurts every day considering how big I was, I was really not complaining because this time, I got a very fair share of a partner who supported me greatly. He was with me all day long and gave up half of his work life just to be by my side. At first, it was just a milder thing but when time went

SKY POVThe day flew by faster than I had anticipated. Cassie insisted on going here and there without getting rest and by now, I was beaten up so bad that all I wanted was to soak my feet in a tub of warm water and take a small nap. I was really tired and all of these seemed rather pointless.I get that she wanted to spend some time with me, do the girls’ things and shit, but I was so tired, especially after loitering the whole day. But then again, the look on her face made it all worth it. I don’t remember the last time she was this happy, so outgoing with a buoyant smile on her face. So I just let her have her moment and didn’t fight her.As promised, Kayden showed up after a short while to find us seated in a coffee shop with some dessert in front of us. As soon as he stepped into the building, I felt this magnetic pull that had me gazing in his way and there he was, dominating the small space looking like something sculpted by the gods themselves. He was dressed neatly in a blu

KAYDEN POVWaking up the way I did had to be, hands down, the best way a man can ever do. For the rest of the day, I had a slight jump in my steps and a burst of laughter in my voice. And there could ever be the only reason why I looked like I had a loose screw in my head. Skylar Babe Smith. It was safe to say that, that little sweetheart made me the happiest version of myself. And with every day that passed, there was no believing that I had the opportunity to be the one that woke up beside her in the morning. The way I was, the way I was smiling from time to time, I am damn sure I looked nothing like the usual sour wolf who wore an angry scowl for more than half of my life. And frankly, I didn’t care. I may have tried to keep my cool, and be the badass man I used to be, but it was just too impossible. And concealing the feeling I had didn't sound much like a thrilling idea. I was happy, and the whole world deserved to know because just a mere thought of that little vixen had my he

SKY POVThe morning sun streaked across the room, bathing the surrounding with its glorious halo signaling the birth of the new day. A hot, soft yet heavy arm snaked around my waist, absent-mindedly pulling me closer to a wall of muscles and cocooning my back in a rampage of loving heat. A soft giggle escaped my lips when I felt a hot velvety rod nuzzled between the cradle of my naked butt cheeks, and the wild vixen in me prompted me to shift a little, just to get it moving. My moves were rewarded by a small groan and shallow breathing, as he continued frolicking around the comfort of his subconscious. The arm securing me in his hold tightened around me, and I fought a little to turn so that I could face him and stare at him sleeping happily. Gazing at his hard, yet soft features, my mind was suddenly flooded with all kinds of thoughts, especially the occurrences that had gone down the past few weeks. All the pain, all the hurt, only because of one big misunderstanding? That had to be

KAYDEN POVAlmost before her feet could touch the ground underneath the car body, I was right in front of her already hoisting her up in my hold. A small giggle tore from her lips as she circled her arms around my neck, her head resting on my shoulder. If I was not already madly in love with her right now, I swear I would have fallen right at that moment.“I can walk you know?” She said in a little voice, and I was happy that she wasn’t fighting me on this one. I gave her a slight nod as I continued my strides toward the house, being careful not to rock her body and God forbid, hurt my babies inside of her body. To think that there were little almost-humans baking in there, it was something so surreal that made me shudder whenever I thought of it. This beautiful woman was making my life complete in all the ways I never knew I lacked.“Kayden, come on. I am pregnant, not dying of stage 76 cancer.” She retorted and it was my turn to laugh. She can be so hilarious when she wants.“I neve

SKY POV*TWO WEEKS LATER*“I STILL DON’T LIKE YOU!!!” Diego exclaimed before slamming the door right on Kayden’s back, wrenching a burst of laughter from out of me. He returned from the door with a sly grin on his face before plopping himself right next to me where I was nuzzled cozily with blankets and shit.“Cut him some slack, will ya?” I threw a small cushion that was stuffed behind me to support my back, at him, and he expertly caught it before leaning back into the chair. “I don’t think I am ready to tell him that I have forgiven him.” He confessed causing my lips to drop in a lope-sided smirk.“So you are just going to keep him on his toes and have him guessing?” “That’s kind of a point yeah.” He huffed before staring blankly into the space.“He is the father of my god-kids, and yes he is really trying to make up for all the shit, and honestly, I am moved.” He clutched his chest and then let out a loud huff, facing me. I couldn’t help but snort out a very unbecoming sound.“
