CHAPTER 244

ARIA’S POV

When I return to my company to do some work, the atmosphere feels tense, almost suffocating. The polished halls, usually a symbol of order and control, seem to amplify the disarray in my mind. As I walk through, I notice Lydia standing in the corner, looking disheveled and out of place. Her hair is tousled, her clothes slightly wrinkled, and her eyes carry a hint of desperation. She appears as though she has been pushed around, her usual composed demeanor nowhere to be seen.

“What are you doing here?”

A mixture of irritation and concern wells up inside me as I approach her. Lydia has always been someone who maintained a semblance of perfection, and seeing her like this is jarring. Her presence here, in this state, raises questions I am not sure I want to know the answers to. I ask her what she is doing here, trying to keep my voice steady, but my irritation seeps through.
