Alex povI stumbled back, my mind scrambling for an explanation. The man's eyes flicked from the graffiti-covered walls to the fuel-streaked ground and then to the lighter still clutched in my hand. His face twisted into a mix of anger and disbelief.“I…I am so sorry” I tried to apologize while making sure my mask was still intact. but his next words made me realize there was no need to.“Get the criminal,” my teacher said to the two security personnel. Without looking back, I turned and fled into the bush.I could hear the sound of their footsteps. They were right behind me. My heart was burning from the adrenaline that was pumping inside me. What have I gotten myself into?I heard a rustle. Before I could react, a shadow appeared beside me. “Run,” the masked figure said to me, their voice low and urgent.I hesitated, torn between staying to explain myself or escaping the chaos I had unwittingly caused. But the masked figure didn’t give me a choice. They grabbed my arm and yanked
Alex pov I’ve always known the Elites have their separate world, but being thrust into it felt surreal. They had their separate classes. The classrooms were decorated beautifully, rivaling most of the students' parlours at their various homes. The air condition, that's seen in only the staff offices where mounted all round the Elites quarters, plus everybody have their own personal system and seats that are permanently for you. My registration took almost three hours, and that's with first-class treatment and the V.C. personal overseeing the registration. From today, hence Fort, I will be attending my lectures in the Elites quarters. Linda and i wouldn't have much time anymore, unless only at the eatery. Or when we have a combined class, in that case, it was just two or three classes. The new teacher, Mrs Hopkins, was in class, but the other students were busy, occupied with whatever they saw fit. Somewhere scrolling through the device while others were chatting in small groups.
Alex’s POV I barely managed to remain calm, with the level of embarrassment and coursing through me. The sheer weight of the tension and scrutiny in the room was enough to suffocate me. The music prodigy glared at me, his piercing eyes practically burning holes through the silver mask that covered his face. His aura radiated power and anger, and I felt smaller than ever under his gaze. “I’m so sorry,” I stammered, bowing my head slightly in a desperate attempt to diffuse the tension. “Sorry?” His tone was sharp, almost mocking. “Do you have any idea what you’ve just done?” I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly dry. “I didn’t mean to…” “Of course you didn’t,” he cut me off, crossing his arms. “But you did. You barged in and disrupted everything.” “I didn’t barge in! The door opened, and I…” “Save it,” he snapped, his voice low but laced with venom. I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. Why did this have to happen today, of all days? My first practice session with the
Andrians povRage was bubbling inside me. I don't know why, but Alex suddenly asking about the melody had ignited a sharp anger inside me. I trudged down the hallway like a soldier on death call. Everybody knows better than to clear from my way without being told. I don't know why I was feeling angry, is it because Alex had interrupted my music with him, eavesdropping at the door. I know it was innocently done, but I can't help but feel offended that my privacy was intruded.Maybe that was one of the many reasons or that I had shown too much of my emotions just in one day. It was going contrary to what I believe in. And that should be why I am angry.“Andrian sweety” I heard a voice, and before I could turn, a hand snaked itself from behind me.June!. I felt disgust, untold disgust that it took all my control not to slam her stupid face across the walls of the hallway.June was the last person I wanted to meet.“hey” I muttered, forcing a smile.“I haven't seen you for ages, Andria
Alex pov “Just go home, Alex.”“Andrian…”“Go home,” he repeated, his tone sharper this time.A normal me would take that as my cue to get going, but I don't know the sturdiness that overtook me.“Noo…” The cool night air clung to my skin as I stared at Andrian, still leaning against his car. He looked as perfect as ever, the scarf had draped off his neck, I saw myself fighting the urge to point it out. What was wrong with me?.I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes. While we entered into a staring contest. Him staring at me like I was out of my mind. His smirk returned, though it didn’t hold the same bite. Instead, there was a glimmer of something almost playful in his eyes. “You're more stubborn than I thought,” he said, his tone dripping with something that sounded like admiration. “Fine, you caught me.”I blinked, caught off guard by his easy admission. “Caught you doing what?”“Stalking you.” His voice was light, teasing even, but it didn’t match the heat in his gaze as he took
Alex povThe ground shook beneath us, and the sky lit up with a fiery glow as the sound of shattering glass and panicked screams filled the air.I pushed Andrian away, my heart racing for an entirely different reason now. “What the hell was that?”He didn’t answer, his eyes fixed in the direction of the explosion. For the first time, I saw genuine fear on his face, and it sent a chill down my spine.“Andrian?” I prompted, my voice trembling. He turned to me, his expression unreadable. “We need to leave. Now.”Noo, I need to know what happened” I insisted. I shoved Andrian away from me, my breath hitching as I turned toward the source of the chaos. My heart sank like a stone as I saw it, the source of the explosion. The eatery I’d worked at for years was engulfed in flames.“No,” I whispered, the word barely audible over the crackling fire. My feet moved before my brain could catch up, carrying me toward the burning building.“Alex, stop!” Andrian’s voice rang out behind me, but I ign
ALEX POVTwo weeks laterIt has been almost two weeks since the fire incident. The eatery was razed to the ground. And until today, the culprits were nowhere to be found. I got up from my bed, fighting the urge to lie down again, despite today being the day of school. For the past month, I have not gone to school.I still felt that it's because of what happened at the induction that came biting back at me. My mother Viper and everybody had tried to comfort me , even promising to build another eatery for Mr. White, but all to no avail. The guilt was still there. I sighed, not bothering to check my phone for fear of seeing a lot of missed calls and messages, the majority from linda, and Luke. I had also seen an unknown number call me, but I hadn't picked any one of them.“Honey, how are you feeling today?” My mother smiled brightlyI nodded, not having the urge to talk much. I went to the kitchen managing a slice of bread to keep my mother from talking and bidding her goodbye. I went
Alex povI felt electricity travel from where he grabbed me up the way to my spine. Before I could react, I felt myself being dragged by him into an empty classroom.“What the fuck andrian,” I screamed at him. As he locked the door with a click. “You left for two weeks,” was the only word he said.“Yes cause I didn't want to set my eyes on you” I glared at him. I couldn’t even believe I was talking to him. Not after everything.“I am leaving” I announced, making to leave, but andrian blocked my way, grabbing my hand.I felt the same tingle from earlier on immediately creep in. I withdrew my hand as fast as I could.“What do you want from me, andrian!,” I asked, my anger rising at the moment. “You were hiding from me, isn't it” andrian ignored my outburst, smirking at me. “That's why you never picked up my calls.”Calls?, I was momentarily taken aback at what he said. But who cares? This is Andrian we are talking about. A manipulator and a liar. Luke's words floated in my mind. I w
Alex povWhy?That has been what had been in my head for the past twenty minutes. I had woken up from my restless sleep.I had woken to the cold reality of what had happened yesterday night.Luke was a cheater. And not just that, he was a liar. Everything was a lie. The moments and the words and concerns. It was just a way to accomplish his unknown goal. And to my surprise, I didn't feel the pain I felt last night. The sting was there, but it was like a scar of an old wound. It was almost like I was not bothered again. Not bothered with anything called love. And it kind of scared me a bit.My phone rang. Linda was calling, but I didn’t have the strength to pick, nor did I pick the calls of Luke that was persistently calling me throughout last night. I can't believe that he still have the guts to call me.I just wanted to go to sleep again. The thought of school was far away from me. But I didn’t have time to get the sleep I so much wanted.A knock came knocking on my door for the h
Alex povLuke!.My stomach clenched. My world shattering before my eyes. There, tangled in the white sheets, was Luke, the boy I had given up everything for. My boyfriend was having it with June of all people. He was lying down on the bed, with June pressed against his bare chest.I felt like I couldn't breathe well. Why was my lungs not receiving enough air? And the pain that was coming from my heart. It was so painful and heart-wrenching that all I wanted was to wake up, and everything became a dream. But the laughter of June was a sore indication that I was not in any dream. She was tracing her hand over lukes bare chest, and he was not doing anything to stop her.Luke's gaze met mine. And for a split second, something flickered in his expression. But it was not regret like I had expected to see. Nor was it guilt. It was indifference.“Alex?” His voice was calm, unbothered, as if I was just some stranger who had walked in at the wrong time. “You are supposed to be at home.”“Do
Alex pov ‘D7 Avenue’ is the name of the street Luke had told me that the party was being held at. It's not like he told me directly. He mentioned it when he was practically forcing me to come. Immediately I alighted from the taxi, it was not difficult to spot the only house in the street that actually looked like a castle. It loomed at the far end of the street. That must be the house of the Elite that hosted the party. And I was right. “Your gate pass” a deep voice stooped me from my gnawking. “Ohh, gate pass?” I asked, looking at the burky and huge bouncer who was not looking so happy with me. like I was an annoying fly. “Are you joking with me?” he scowled at me. His eyes peered at me in suspicion. Luke didn’t mention anything about gate pass. I had thought it was an all Elites party, but apparently, it's not. But it can't hurt to try. “I am an Elite, I forgot my pass at home” I lied, hoping it would work. “You think I am joking, right? How can an elite come with a cab
Alex pov“I know you are feeling it, Alex, that's why you have not run away like a scaredy cat.”Where was this going, and what was he talking about feelings?. I stared dumbly at him, trying to figure out if this was really happening. Something about him, the prodigy felt familiar, like we have been close before. It was confusing, and for a while, I thought I had gone mad.“Look at me,” he said, raising my chin up to meet his piercing gaze. Something about that movement felt like it was the most natural thing in the world. What was wrong with me?. I screamed at myself internally to push him off, and ran back home, but my other side, the other side that had come out during the explosion, when I was with Andrian…Wait, Andrian, that feeling…“Let me show you something,” the music prodigy said softly, going for his mask.My eyes widened as I was surprised at his actions. Was he removing his mask? There was a story that nobody has ever seen the prodigy face before. It was always a hot t
Andrian pov March 13th, 20XX “The Davidsons are becoming too much of a threat. Their influence is spreading like wildfire, and their connections are unsettling. If left unchecked, they could ruin everything we’ve built.” That was part of what was written in the journal. It was talking about Alex and his family. I slammed my hands on the horns, swerving hard to avoid hitting a phone boot at the side of the road. I couldn’t just stop thinking about what this revelation could mean… “The lights turned red, but I didn’t stop, I was too engrossed in myself to care. I pressed the accelerator harder than I should have. There was only one place I could go now, somewhere that didn’t feel like a constant reminder of my father’s lies or my own guilt. Her place. The siren of the police at my back didn't bother me. Nor did I as much as spare them a glance. My mind was still reeling from what I had read. They have assembled. given the order. It’s not a decision that was made lightly, but it
