Alex’s POV

Luke followed, still silent and slightly dazed, but he didn’t pull away. As we walked, I could feel the weight of Andrian’s stare burning into my back. Let him look. Let him see. I was done caring about him or what he thought of me. For all I cared about, he could rot in hell.

“Hey, slow down, Alex. Why the rush?” Luke asked, pulling me back, his voice breaking through the haze of my thoughts.

“We’re going to be late for class if we don’t hurry,” I replied, but even to my ears, my voice sounded off, rushed, strained.

Luke grinned mischievously. “Oh, but why are your cheeks so red? Are you blushing?”

I groaned, mortified. “I’m not blushing!” My words came out more defensive than I intended. I turned away quickly, clutching my bag tighter.

Luke’s laughter followed me as I walked ahead, but soon enough, he caught up. “Wait for me, Alex! I was just messing with you.”

But I didn’t stop for one second, I continued like I was being chased, pretending not to hear him.

Alex povI stood there, speachless and dumbfounded, as the words left the masked judge’s mouth.“Disqualified.”It echoed in my mind, over and over again, like a cruel mantra. My vision blurred, and the room spun, I couldn’t hear anything else except for the wild beating of my heart. The applause that had once been a thing of joy and satisfaction for my good work, noelw grated on my nerves. It seemed distant, mocking. I gripped my guitar tightly, my knuckles whitening as rage bubbled in my chest, threatening to spill over.“What did you just say?” My voice cracked, trembling with anger as I stepped toward the table where the prodigy sat.The prodigy leaned back lazily in his chair, his posture oozing arrogance. “I said you’re disqualified. You heard me the first time, didn’t you?”My stomach churned as I glanced at the other judges. Their earlier smiles had vanished, replaced by expressions of awkward discomfort. They didn’t agree with him, anyone could see that, but none of them dare

Alex's POV The walk home felt like eternity. All throughout what I could think about was the failed audition, the humiliation, and the way the prodigy had looked at me with disgust and loath. had looked at me, as if I was nothing. I s8ghed for the hundred times since the audition. I need to stop myself from overthinking. Having nothing to do, I stared at the nearby pavement, counting the cracks. Luke was beside me , he had not said anything since our walk home after school, but his hands were firmly clutching mine, silently offering his support. I guess he wanted to give me space. His usual playfulness was gone throughout today, an effort to calm me and allow me my peace. but I could sense his glances at me, like he was trying to gauge if I’d break down any moment. I didn’t want his pity. I didn’t want anyone’s pity. This is my cross and I will carry it alone. “Alex, let’s go somewhere,” Luke said suddenly, breaking the silence. I turned to him, my brows furrowing. “What?

Alex povThe question hit me like a punch to the gut. I stared at him, my mouth opened, but no words could come out. My thoughts spiraled, and all I could think was, why now?“I… I don’t know, Luke,” I finally managed to say, my voice trembling. His brows furrowed, and he leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table. “Why not? We’ve been close for a while now. I care about you, Alex, and i know that you do too. I want to be there for you, more than just a friend.”I felt concerned like an animal. I bit my lip, struggling to find the right words. “It’s not that I don’t… like you appreciate waht you have been soing for me, Luke. I just… I just got out of something complicated. I’m not ready to jump into another relationship right now.”He frowned, and I saw a flicker of something dark flash across his face. “Is this about him?” he asked, his voice sharper than I expected.I froze.“About who?” I ask tentatively “Andrian, it's about him, isn't?” The mention of Andrian’s name felt l

Alex’s POV “Mum!!” My mother was sitting on the couch, her back straight and her head turning toward me with the sharpness of a hawk. Her eyes met mine, and I froze. She had that look whenever she was upset with something. In this case, someone's. Deep shame came over me. As I suddenly became self counciouse. Has she seen? Or did she have a bad day at work?. I can't help but ask myself. She was still dressed in her work clothes, her blouse slightly wrinkled, and her hair pulled back into a neat bun. She must have just gotten home. I blamed myself for not checking for the sign of her car. The faint light from the lamp beside her illuminated her face, making the tension in her features impossible to miss. “Hi, Mom,” I said quickly, managing to keep my voice neutral and devoid of emotion despite the raging emotion in me. My palms felt clammy, and I stuffed them into my jacket pockets to hide my nerves. “Alex.” Her tone was calm but carried an edge that immediately made my stoma

Alex’s POV The ring tone of my phone woke me up from sleep. I grudgingly picked up my phone, but seeing the caller ID, I immediately put my phone down like it is poisone. Luke was calling me. And his ten missed calls were flashing in front of my phone. I tried to gather courage, but anytime I tried to pick it, the way I had rejected him kept on flashing in my mind. I didn’t bother going to school. I told myself it was to avoid Luke, but deep down, I knew there was more to it. The thought of seeing Andrian in the halls with Julia being all cozy and lovey dovey, always makes me want to puke in disgust. A constant reminder of how my life is fucked up. I pulled on a hoodie and jeans, keeping my head low as I left the house. My mom was already at work, which I am not surprised about and it's a normal thing for her. After all, it saves me the trouble of having to face her after the most embarrassing discussion with her last night. The walk to the café felt longer than usual. By the ti

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 46: Andrian!

Andrian’s POV The house was quiet when I arrived, the kind of silence that pressed down on you like a heavy weight. All the cleaners have retired or i will say had run to hide in their various holes. “Better for them” I murmured, feeling pity for anyone who will be unfortunate to come across me now. My father wasn’t home, thankfully, so I won't need to watch my steps because I was as angry as hell. He was probably off at one of his endless meetings or scheming sessions. I should’ve felt relieved by his absence, but the emptiness in the house matched the one gnawing at my chest. Today had come and gone, and Alex hadn’t shown up at school. I should’ve been celebrating. After all, I had done what I was supposed to. I’d humiliated him, brought him down to his lowest, just as my father wanted. The masked judge’s critique had been cruel, biting, and perfectly aimed to crush Alex’s confidence. It worked. Even more so than expected. Who should have known that music meant alot to him. It

Andrian povMy father’s voice cut through the air like a whip, freezing me in place. My hands hovered over the keys, trembling slightly. Why the fuck was I distracted, too distracted not to see him coming. He stood in the doorway, his imposing figure framed by the dim light. His sharp eyes bore into me, cold and unyielding, and for a moment, the room felt smaller, suffocating. The memory of a little crying boy surfaced. The boy was complaining to his father crying for his sweets that were destroyed by bullies. But his father instead of consoling the little boy took even the reminder of the sweets in front of him, and crushed it to the ground while cursing how weak he was.The memories threatened to crush me but I stood, my back straight, masking the fear that clawed at my insides.“What is this?” he demanded, his voice low but venomous.I didn’t answer. What was there to say? That I had let my emotions get the better of me? That I had sought solace in something he had deemed weak

Alex Pov Luke. His warm brown eyes widened in surprise before softening into something gentler. He steadied me with a hand on my arm, his touch calm.and gentle. And a gentle contrast to Luke of yesterday night.“Alex,” he said, his voice low and calm, but there was a hint of something in it, relief?I opened my mouth, the apology I had rehearsed since I woke up, ready to spill out. “Luke, I…”But he cut me off, his voice firm yet kind.“It’s fine,” he said, his lips curving into a soft smile. “You don’t have to explain.”I blinked, startled. “What?”“Last night,” he continued, his gaze unwavering. “I shouldn’t have pushed you. I get it, Alex. You need time, and I’m okay with that. I’m willing to wait for as long as it takes.”His words caught me off guard. The sincerity in his voice, the patience, the intensity, the understanding, and it all melted something inside me. I had expected anger, maybe even resentment. Alex PovHis face was a storm of emotions, hurt, anger, and confusion. My stomach sank.“Peter?” I said cautiously. He crossed his arms, his eyes narrowing as he looked at me. “So it’s true, then?” he asked, his voice thick with disbelief.“What’s true?” I asked, already dreading the answer.“That you’re one of them,” he spat, the word dripping with contempt. “An elite. You’ve been one this whole time, haven’t you? And you didn’t say anything. Why? Were you using me this whole time? Was I just some… some project to you?”His words hit me like a slap, and for a moment, I was too stunned to respond. “Peter, no,” I said, shaking my head. “It’s not like that. I didn’t even know until recently…”“Oh, so now you’re the victim?” he interrupted, his voice rising. “Do you know how stupid I feel? Defending you, standing by you, only to find out you’ve been hiding this the whole time?”People were starting to gather, their curiosity palpable. Alex povI couldn’t be more thankful hearing the bell. Signaling the end of lectures. I rushed out of the class even before Mrs Green could even say “boo”.Sounds illegal, right? But seeing as the bitch was trying to get on my good books, because of my new identity, I guess she wouldn't be offended.I was already going out of my mind from all the pretense and forced smiles from those that have taunted me. Laughing at me when the Elites and Andrian made my life a living hell. It makes me want to throw up seeing how people change overnight.I breathe a sigh of relief, enjoying the silence of the closet that I had hidden in. Now is time for lunch, and I know going there now would be disastrous. After 30 minutes, I crept out, making my way to the cafeteria Wilhite trying my best not to encounter anybody.***********The appetite I had for food this afternoon died immediately when I entered the Cafeteria. It was like I wore a magnet and the students were a bunch of heavy metal. What surpr

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 54: strange people

Alex PovThe next day felt like the world had tilted away from its axis. I felt it immediately when Viper dropped me at the school premises. As I walked towards the school, my mind swirled with thoughts I couldn’t quite pin down. The revelation of my connection to my father, the legacy I hadn’t asked for, and the uncertainty of how it would affect my life, all of it weighed heavily on me. The words of viper last night were still clear in my ears, yesterday night, after dropping me in front of my house: “Lay low, Alex. The less attention you draw, the better for now.”That had seemed like solid advice at the time. And I plan to keep it that way. Wouldn't want my peaceful life to be destroyed. Like he said ,lay low. But the moment I stepped onto campus, it became apparent that “laying low” was no longer an option. Or rather, it was never an option. The whispers started before I even reached the main building. Small groups of students huddled together, their eyes darting toward me as th

Alex povThe boardroom was like a courtroom. No, it reminded me more like an execution ground I have watched in movies. As I stepped out, my sagged shoulders felt like the weight of the whole world had been lifted from my body. I could know when I have been this thankful about leaving a room. The air felt sweeter and the silence that now surrounds me is giving me a chance to calm my nerves.I had endured the intense scrutinizing eyes. Like an execution ground, I felt like I was the lamb to be slaughtered while the richly dressed board members was my executioner, each with his or her own sword waiting for the right time. every glance, every whispered word, could decide my fate. The rich mahogany table had seemed too large, the leather chairs too stiff, and the air too suffocating.I had managed to descend the stairs, despite my shaking and trembling legs. My mind replayed the scene over and over, as if trying to dissect what had just happened. It had been fine at first, or as fine as i

Alex pov“Shut the f**k up” I shot back, my voice rising. “You show up out of nowhere, acting like you’re in charge, and expect me to just go along with it? Who even are you to me?”“Alex, calm down,” my mum said, stepping between us.“No, Mum!” I snapped, the words spilling out before I could stop them. “I’ve had enough of the secrets, the lies, the half-truths. I know what’s going on. I know about Dad, that he didn’t abandon us. I know about the inheritance. And I know that he,” I pointed at Viper, “is a secret agent of my father that has been pulling the strings behind the scenes.”The room fell into a pregnant silence. My mother’s eyes widened, and for a moment, she looked genuinely startled, almost like she would burst out crying any moment. But then, to my utter shock, a small sad smile crept onto her lips.“So,” she said, as if she was stating the obvious “you’ve known all along.”“What?” I blinked, completely caught off guard by her sudden shift in demeanor. She chuckled soft

Alex povI could hear the beat of my heart pounding frantically in my chest. The kiss started soft, tentative at first, as though we were both testing the waters. But the first few minutes passed in a blur, before everything began to heat up.“You don’t have to be so tense, Alex,” Luke murmured, his voice low and soothing, a warm vibration against my lips. His hand brushed gently against my cheek, and I couldn’t help but lean into his touch, savoring the warmth of his palm. “Just relax.”Relax. The word sounded so simple, but my body didn’t seem to understand it. My heart was racing wildly. I tried to calm down, but the intensity of the moment made it impossible. My hands hovered awkwardly, unsure of where to do with it. while Luke took charge of the kiss with a quiet confidence that left me breathless.Luke’s hands found my waist, sliding up my bare back with an ease that sent shivers trailing down my spine. Alex povThe hallway was no different. Groups of students clustered together, their voices a mix of excitement and speculation. Normally, I would have walked straight past them, but something caught my attention, a line forming near the notice board.I had followed Peter, who was acting so mysterious, but he had disappeared on reaching the administrative block. And behind me was Luke, who had a scowl on his face. He had reluctantly followed. He was angry that Peter had interrupted us, but Curiosity got the better of me. I needed to see why Peter was so riled up that he would damn any forms of public shame. But I was not ready to see the enormous crowd before me. What was so important that everyone was lining up for it? I adjusted my bag and cautiously approached the crowd. As I drew closer, I caught snippets of their conversations.“Did you see his name?”“She totally nailed her audition!”“I can’t believe I didn’t make it...”My chest tightened. He had a lazy expression ,like he would care less about anything. Surprisingly, he had answered without any harmful remarks. His friends, where were they?. He continued to stare at me, waiting for my reply. Why was he asking me what?. Was I stupid to think that Andrian, the head of Elites in the school, has any bassinets with me. His piercing gaze glared at me,like he was seeing through my soul. Seeing my inner secrets. I cringed, Who was I kidding, I couldn't do it. I wanted to run away, but Viper's hard words flashed in my mind. I swallowed hard, forcing the words out before I lost my nerve. “I’ve decided.
