Alex POV

The words on the crumpled piece of paper haunted me, a cruel whisper at the back of my mind.

“Meet in the abandoned shed.”

Andrian's message had been straightforward, but it carried a weight that made my chest tighten. He hadn’t specified the time, which only added to my frustration. Throughout my classes, I was a hollow shell, staring blankly at the board. The teacher’s voice was a meaningless drone. My classmates probably noticed my unusual silence, hence their rare mercy in refraining from taunts today.

The bell signaling the start of sports blared across the schoolyard. Most students hurried out, their excited chatter filling the air. I, however, walked against the crowd, heading toward the music room.

With the auditions just around the corner, practicing seemed like the logical choice. My only chance to qualify rested on proving myself, especially to the so-called legendary judge who had crushed my automatic qualification last time. The memory of his unimpressed gaze

Alex POV The cafeteria buzzed with life, the hum of conversations blending with the clinking of utensils. The smell of roasted beans wafted through the air, reminding me of how much I’d skipped lunch the past few days. “So… where have you been all this while?” I asked Linda, finally spotting her as she slid into the seat across from me. Throughout the day, she’d been scarce, and as a friend, it bothered me. “It’s nothing, Alex. Just busy with school stuff,” she replied quickly, her voice light. But her fingers betrayed her; they played nervously with the hem of her sweater. “School stuff? Since when are you the diligent type?” I teased, trying to draw her out, but she avoided my gaze. “Alex, just drop it, okay?” Her tone was sharper now, defensive. I wanted to press on, to ask what was really going on, but before I could, Luke’s voice interrupted. “So, you guys actually stay here to eat?” he asked, flashing his usual mischievous smile as he sat down beside me, uninvited as alwa

Andrian’s POV The day had been off from the start. I couldn’t quite place when my mood had soured, but by the time I entered the cafeteria, a dull irritation simmered beneath my skin. Maybe it was the stale air, the overzealous whispers of classmates trying to curry favor with me, or the fact that none of it felt real. Whatever it was, it only got worse when I saw him. There he was. Alex. Laughing. With Luke, of all people. The sight made my jaw tighten, my appetite disappearing instantly. Luke, an elite like me, someone with the world at his feet, was sitting with him, the boy I couldn’t seem to stop thinking about, for all the wrong reasons. I watched as Luke leaned closer to Alex, his grin smug and effortless, and something in my chest twisted. It wasn’t jealousy, I told myself. It couldn’t be. But then, why couldn’t I look away? Josh, sitting across from me, followed my line of sight and let out a low chuckle. “Want to teach him another lesson, like yesterday?” The

Alex’s POV For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. My mind went blank, and the world seemed to narrow to the sensation of Andrian’s lips on mine. It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t kind. It was possessive, demanding, and hot, leaving me utterly breathless. When he finally pulled back, my chest was heaving as I stared at him, dumbfounded. My body felt frozen, unable to process what had just happened. My heart pounded so loudly that I was sure he could hear it. “What…" What was that?” I stammered, my voice barely a whisper. Andrian smirked, his sharp features softening with an emotion I couldn’t quite place as he stared down at me. The memory of the green eyed boy staring intensely at me with a smile under the lake flashed across my mind. “That” he said, with a strange intensity that sent shivers d9wn my spine. “ is for coming late” His words hit me like a slap, yet I couldn’t muster the anger I knew I should feel. My legs felt like jelly, my hands trembling at my sides. I could’ve yelled at

Andrian’s pov I stood in front of the mirror, tugging at the cuffs of my blazer, trying to convince myself that this was just another night. The kind of night I’d been enduring my entire life, dinners filled with false laughter, political agendas, and people who couldn’t care less about me but worshipped my family name. The reflection staring back at me didn’t look like an eighteen-year-old boy. The sharp suit, the slicked-back hair, the perfectly rehearsed expression, it was all part of the facade. A Rufus always looked perfect. Always acted perfect. They are always obeyed.those are the three big ‘A’ my father holds in high regard. But today, perfection felt like a chain around my neck. The day had been chaos from the moment I walked into the cafeteria. Immediately, i had wished that i had gone somewhere else but there. “Cant he see it already, Luke is using him”. mere thought of Luke sitting next to Alex, laughing like they were best friends, made my blood boil. Luke had no bu

Andrian pov “Just needed a breather,” I replied, keeping my tone neutral, a perfect pretense of the war that was going through me. She laughed softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re so intriguing, Andrian. I feel like there’s so much more to you than meets the eye.” I forced another smile, nodding absently. But as she kept talking, her voice fading into the background, my thoughts drifted back to Alex. His fiery eyes, his defiance, the way he made me feel things I couldn’t explain. I clenched the railing, my knuckles turning white. “What is the problem, Andrian?” She asked, coming even closer. You asked for it, I thought before I grabbed her, pinning her on the wall. A yelp escaped her mouth, but it was soon replaced with my mouth. “Ohhh, andrian, you are so mysterious…” “Shut up,” I breathed, silencing her, as my hands trailed all round her body, her small bottom , her navel traveling up before it settled on the fake busty sized cleavage. I palmed it firml

Alex Pov I shouldn’t have been thinking about him. I shouldn’t have been feeling anything at all. And yet, as I stood outside my house, phone in hand after another unanswered call to Linda, my best friend who has been acting all weird lately. my mind wandered back to that stupid kiss. That brief, fiery moment in the shed with Andrian. He had kissed me without my consent, like I was a cheap whore. His intense green gaze that had held me prisoner for some seconds. The same moment I had slapped him for it, shouted at him for, and yet… I shook my head violently, shutting down the thought before it could take root. No. There was nothing to think about. It was a mistake, an impulsive action on his part and nothing more. I hate Andrian Rufus , for who he is. For fooling me into believing and loving an imaginary “Jacob”. And for making my supposed memorable college life a living hell. I always had, always would hate him. But even as I told myself that, I could still feel the ghost of his

Alex povThe classroom fell into an almost eerie silence after Mr. Cliff uttered the words that sealed my fate.“Andrian Rufus and Alex Davidson.”I blinked, thinking I’d misheard. Surely, out of all the people in the room, he hadn’t just paired me with him. My chest tightened as whispers spread around the classroom, classmates exchanging amused glances or muffled laughter. I looked at Luke, who was staring right back at me with an unreadable expression. I glanced toward Andrian, who was lounging in his chair like a king surveying his kingdom. Like he didn’t give a fuck about anything that happens. His dark eyes locked onto mine, and the corner of his lips curled into that smug, infuriating smirk.“Perfect,” he muttered, loud enough for me to hear.Perfect? This was a nightmare.“Is there a problem, Mr. Davidson?” Mr. Cleft's voice pulled me back to reality.I realized I was still staring at Andrian, my mouth slightly open in protest. I had woken up from my restless sleep.I had woken to the cold reality of what had happened yesterday night.Luke was a cheater. And not just that, he was a liar. Everything was a lie. The moments and the words and concerns. It was just a way to accomplish his unknown goal. And to my surprise, I didn't feel the pain I felt last night. But it was not regret like I had expected to see. Nor was it guilt. It was indifference.“Alex?” His voice was calm, unbothered, as if I was just some stranger who had walked in at the wrong time. “You are supposed to be at home.”“Do

  • My Rival My lover   Chapter 72: Strange party

Alex pov ‘D7 Avenue’ is the name of the street Luke had told me that the party was being held at. It's not like he told me directly. He mentioned it when he was practically forcing me to come. Immediately I alighted from the taxi, it was not difficult to spot the only house in the street that actually looked like a castle. It loomed at the far end of the street. That must be the house of the Elite that hosted the party. And I was right. “Your gate pass” a deep voice stooped me from my gnawking. “Ohh, gate pass?” I asked, looking at the burky and huge bouncer who was not looking so happy with me. like I was an annoying fly. “Are you joking with me?” he scowled at me. His eyes peered at me in suspicion. Luke didn’t mention anything about gate pass. I had thought it was an all Elites party, but apparently, it's not. But it can't hurt to try. “I am an Elite, I forgot my pass at home” I lied, hoping it would work. “You think I am joking, right? How can an elite come with a cab

Alex pov“I know you are feeling it, Alex, that's why you have not run away like a scaredy cat.”Where was this going, and what was he talking about feelings?. I stared dumbly at him, trying to figure out if this was really happening. Something about him, the prodigy felt familiar, like we have been close before. It was confusing, and for a while, I thought I had gone mad.“Look at me,” he said, raising my chin up to meet his piercing gaze. Something about that movement felt like it was the most natural thing in the world. What was wrong with me?. I screamed at myself internally to push him off, and ran back home, but my other side, the other side that had come out during the explosion, when I was with Andrian…Wait, Andrian, that feeling…“Let me show you something,” the music prodigy said softly, going for his mask.My eyes widened as I was surprised at his actions. Was he removing his mask? There was a story that nobody has ever seen the prodigy face before. It was always a hot t

Andrian pov March 13th, 20XX “The Davidsons are becoming too much of a threat. Their influence is spreading like wildfire, and their connections are unsettling. If left unchecked, they could ruin everything we’ve built.” That was part of what was written in the journal. It was talking about Alex and his family. I slammed my hands on the horns, swerving hard to avoid hitting a phone boot at the side of the road. I couldn’t just stop thinking about what this revelation could mean… “The lights turned red, but I didn’t stop, I was too engrossed in myself to care. I pressed the accelerator harder than I should have. There was only one place I could go now, somewhere that didn’t feel like a constant reminder of my father’s lies or my own guilt. Her place. I withdrew my hand as fast as I could.“What do you want from me, andrian!,” I asked, my anger rising at the moment. “You were hiding from me, isn't it” andrian ignored my outburst, smirking at me. “That's why you never picked up my calls.”Calls?, I was momentarily taken aback at what he said. • My Rival My lover   Chapter 68: Guilt

ALEX POVTwo weeks laterIt has been almost two weeks since the fire incident. The eatery was razed to the ground. And until today, the culprits were nowhere to be found. I got up from my bed, fighting the urge to lie down again, despite today being the day of school. For the past month, I have not gone to school.I still felt that it's because of what happened at the induction that came biting back at me. My mother Viper and everybody had tried to comfort me , even promising to build another eatery for Mr. White, but all to no avail. The guilt was still there. I sighed, not bothering to check my phone for fear of seeing a lot of missed calls and messages, the majority from linda, and Luke. I had also seen an unknown number call me, but I hadn't picked any one of them.“Honey, how are you feeling today?” My mother smiled brightlyI nodded, not having the urge to talk much. I went to the kitchen managing a slice of bread to keep my mother from talking and bidding her goodbye. I went

For the first time, I saw genuine fear on his face, and it sent a chill down my spine.“Andrian?” I prompted, my voice trembling. He turned to me, his expression unreadable. “We need to leave. Now.”Noo, I need to know what happened” I insisted. I shoved Andrian away from me, my breath hitching as I turned toward the source of the chaos. My heart sank like a stone as I saw it, the source of the explosion. The eatery I’d worked at for years was engulfed in flames.“No,” I whispered, the word barely audible over the crackling fire.
