BITTERNESS

Emily sat on the couch in her mother’s apartment, staring out the window.

It had been over a month or more since Alex left her..since he had walked out of their marriage without even a second glance. No calls, no texts. Nothing.

It was as if she had ceased to exist for him. The silence from him was deafening, and it left her thinking if she wasn’t worth being with.

Her mother, Mary, was pacing up and down in the living room as she always did when she was upset, muttering under her breath, cursing Alex, Leah, the company, everything.

She has been quiet for so long and restless about how fast everything that she planned went down the drain.

“I still can’t believe that girl! After everything, she swooped in and took half the company. Half! Do you know how hard I worked to push Leah out of the way so you could have everything? And now..now she walks in and takes it all back, just like that!” Mary’s voice was laced with venom as she ranted.
