"Mr. Landon, I apologize for keeping you waiting," Emma began, her voice hoarse from crying.

Fortunately, Landon only gave her a look without saying anything. Emma appreciated his lack of questions. She could at least still preserve her dignity.

The two entered the civil registry building to register, and the staff eyed her hesitantly. "Miss, are you sure you've considered this thoroughly?"

Emma knew her swollen eyes caused the misunderstanding and shyly smiled, "I was just too excited."

The staff chuckled knowingly. "That’s understandable."

Landon glanced at her, satisfied with her ability to navigate awkward situations. His investigation was right. Emma was intelligent, adept at defusing awkwardness, with high emotional intelligence. He needed someone who understood such nuances.

The marriage certificate was quickly processed. Landon entrusted everything to Emma and then drove her to update her household registration documents.

Emma held the new household registration documents tightly. She felt her heart pound with excitement. Finally, her child could go to kindergarten without returning to the hellhole, enduring humiliation and blame as she had earlier.

"Thank you, Mr. Landon," Emma sincerely told him.

She had never expected fate to favor her so much, bringing Landon to her when she was at her most desperate.

Landon looked at her with a smile and extended his hand, "Mrs. Stirling, it’s a pleasure to partner with you."

She was a woman who was happier about obtaining a new household registration documents than receiving a marriage certificate. Her whole focus was on her child. He knew he had chosen the right partner for this collaboration. The information he investigated was accurate. Emma was currently the most suitable person.

He did not believe in marriage and had no intention of getting married properly. For the remainder of this brief marriage in his life, having a comfortable partner was necessary.

"A pleasure, eh!" Emma shook Landon's broad and powerful hand with excitement, moving it up and down vigorously.

Her straightforward joy made Landon feel pleased. After years of cutthroat competition in the business world, where deceit was common, even his uncle could harm his parents for the sake of money. He had not seen someone so easily satisfied and genuinely pure for a long time.

"Let's go check out the house," Landon started the car.

Emma eagerly responded, "Sure!"

Upon arriving, just as they stepped out of the elevator, Landon's phone rang. He opened the door and then signaled Emma to enter. "I need to take this call."

After Emma went inside, Landon closed the door and answered the phone. Immediately, a furious roar burst out from the phone speakers. "Landon, on what grounds did you drive my dad out of the company? He's a part of the Stirling family and your uncle! You better watch your back. I'll tell Grandpa! Don't forget, Grandpa is still in charge of Stirling Group. You have no authority to treat my dad this way!"

Landon sneered, "I do! As of half an hour ago, the company is under my control."

"That's impossible!" The person on the other end sounded doubtful. "Grandpa said you could inherit the company only after getting married. You don't even have a woman. How is it possible?"

"Dear cousin, unfortunately, I'm married now," Landon casually dropped the news, leaving the person on the other end of the line breathless.

Not finding this shocking enough, Landon added another ‘surprise’. "I've had a woman before. That was five years ago; you arranged it personally, don't you remember?"

The call was terminated by the caller, but everything had unfolded as Landon expected. He scoffed, put away his phone, unlocked the door with his fingerprint, and entered the room."Why aren't you coming in?" Landon looked at Emma, who stood dazed at the entrance, with a puzzled expression. He smiled. "No need to be so formal. This will be your home from now on. In a year, this house will be yours. You might as well get familiar with it."Compared to his troublesome uncle's family, Landon found it particularly easy to interact with Emma. She was a simple person. Emma stiffly turned her head. "Mr. Landon, is this the house you're giving me?"Landon nodded and walked in. "Don't you like it? I think the location of this house is excellent. Convenient transportation downstairs, and there are also reputable elementary and middle schools nearby. It will be convenient for you to pick up and drop off Asher in the future."Emma swallowed awkwardly, "Mr. Landon, may I ask, what is the size o

Any more questions, and she would shame herself.Landon chuckled. "Don't you want to ask how I know about your account?"Emma was not surprised. "With your financial power, finding out anything is not difficult." Though she lacked wealth, she understood the power of capital. Landon belonged to the elite few who could effortlessly control people, making ants like her insignificant in his presence. For the next year, she just had to play her part dutifully.Emma's tact pleased Landon. "When necessary, I might take you to some events, but not many, rest assured. Before Landon could finish, Emma supplied him with, "The wife who is deeply in love with you?"She had to show that she had some usefulness. Otherwise, she would need to be more competent for the compensation she received this year. Landon smiled in satisfaction. Emma took the access card, rode the elevator down, and handed her household registry to a courier waiting by the roadside. Feeling relaxed, Emma then took a bus back to her rental house."Mommy!"As soon as Emma opened the door, she was embraced by a soft and cute little bundle. The tender little face rubbed against her legs like a little kitten. It melted Emma's heart."Ash!" Emma crouched down and planted a kiss on Asher's milky-smooth cheek. "Missed mommy?""Miss you," Asher echoed with round, gleaming eyes. He giggled at his little joke."I miss my little Ash too." Emma carried the little one into the house. "Let me tell you, we're moving to a new place."The squishy little fellow nestled in her arms blinked his big watery eyes and attentively listened to her talk about their new house.Emma told Asher that they were going to move to a new place and start a new life in words that the little boy could understand. After mother and son reached a consensus, Emma began to pack things, a

Landon’s tone completely unsettled Calvin. "Are you in a fake marriage?""It's just a contractual marriage. We each get what we need, fair and reasonable," Landon said matter-of-factly.Calvin was infuriated. "Your grandfather waited for you to get married not for the sake of your marriage..."Calvin's words trailed off midway. He could not continue. Anyone looking at Landon's smile devoid of amusement would not be able to say much either. For Landon, marriage was nothing more than a transaction. In Landon's current world, there was no such thing as ‘feelings’."The person you've chosen to marry must be outstanding, right?" Calvin probed, half amused. "Maybe in a year, you'll turn this into a real relationship."Landon chuckled, "You can hope for the sun to rise from the west."Falling in love with Emma? He acknowledged that Emma was a practical woman, a good business partner, but... love? What was that? He would never entertain such foolish emotions in his lifetime.Emma had no

His chubby little hands diligently folded the clothes. It was slow, but compared to the previous one, it was much better. After folding the clothes, his big eyes were filled with hope as he looked at his mommy. His small mouth was slightly open."Ash is amazing! You’re getting better and better at folding. Let's continue to work hard together, okay?" Emma indulgently touched her son's fluffy little head. When the expected praise came, Asher smiled happily. "Okay!"Emma looked at her joyful son, a soft tenderness lingering in her eyes. She would not let Asher go through the painful childhood she had experienced. She wanted Asher to be happy and become a confident, optimistic person.Landon was a reasonable person. He would probably not bring any negative emotions into their lives. More importantly, he was a successful person, and for the year, her son could learn a thing or two from him. That was the most valuable aspect of their collaboration. When she first moved out, she did not

He rang the doorbell, and Emma quickly opened the door, "Mr. Landon, you're here so early. Have you eaten yet? I've prepared breakfast.""I've already eaten," Landon replied. "We can start moving now.""Okay, " Emma responded quickly and went inside. "I'll tidy up here."Everything else was already packed. They just needed to gather the things they used in the morning, and then they could move."Ash, this is Mr. Landon," Emma turned around, smiling as she introduced Landon to her son. "Mr. Landon is amazing. You should learn from him when you can."Asher looked up curiously.Landon had never seen such a pure and direct gaze before. Other children he had encountered were either too rowdy or too timid to meet his eyes. A child who dared to look directly into his eyes like this was something he had never experienced."Mr. Landon, this is my son, Asher, or Ash for short. He's four years old. He's an extremely cute, hardworking, and polite little boy," Emma introduced her son solemnly, surp

Even if Landon's good opinion of Emma and her son had somewhat diminished, he would never show it. If people could easily discern his thoughts, he would consider himself a failure. A few minutes later, Landon drove into the house compound. Upon entering the gates, Landon noticed the sparkle in Asher's eyes, indicating the excitement the house brought to the little one. Landon took his time as he placed the car keys in the entryway, and observed the mother and son's subsequent actions while changing into his house shoes. With Emma's assistance, Asher put on his slippers. The little guy walked into the house with enthusiasm, looking around excitedly, his big, watery eyes seemed insufficient for taking in everything.Walk? Landon was surprised. Four-year-olds were usually full of energy, running around, especially when they had found something interesting. However, Asher walked steadily instead of running or bouncing around. Landon found it astonishing. "Ash is very well-behaved."Em

“ Mr. Landon is such a capable person. You should learn from him, sweetheart. In the future, you must strive to become wealthy and help others.” Emma encouraged her son with a warm smile. "Okay!" Asher exclaimed as he raised his tiny arms in excitement."Let's work hard together," Emma encouraged. "But before that, let's organize our things, alright?" "Sure," Asher agreed enthusiastically as he followed Emma into the room to tidy up.The door to their suite was open, allowing the clear exchange of words between Emma and Asher. "Mommy, Mr. Landon is very rich. When I grow up, I'll be rich too." "It's okay, you don't have to be as rich as Mr. Landon. Just work hard, and help others as much as you can. Look, now you're helping Mommy tidy up. You're amazing!"Landon could not see their figures, and therefore, he could not study the expressions on their faces. However, he believed that the smiles on their faces must be light and happy.Becoming wealthy for such a reason… He had tr

“Of course, marriage is about mutual benefit. You treat me well, and I treat you well in return. You help me shoulder life's pressures, and I offer you support. That’s what fosters a stable marriage,” Emma stated matter-of-factly.“It won’t work if one side keeps giving while the other takes without giving anything in return.“And sometimes, it may seem like one side isn’t contributing, but there are always invisible sacrifices being made.“Otherwise, how could any marriage last?” Landon wrapped his arms around Emma and sighed softly. “You know, what I love most about you is your clear understanding of things.“You give me a sense of security,” Landon said candidly. He knew Emma was not the type to overthink things as she was a very reasonable person.“You see, Asher has grown so optimistic and cheerful because of you. Emma froze, her curiosity piqued. “What did you learn?”She was not surprised that Asher had absorbed her lessons as that was her goal in teaching him. But what had Landon learned? “I learned a lot,” Landon replied with a smile. “For example, your attention to detail and patience, your tolerance for others, and your ability to handle situations calmly—”Emma laughed, breaking his train of thought. “Stop, stop, stop! If you keep going, I might start believing I'm some kind of superhero! I’d be even better than you!” “Then I'd really be lacking in self-awareness if I think that,” Landon said as he wrapped his arms around her. “You genuinely possess many admirable qualities—exactly what I need.”“Alright, alright... what you need,” Emma replied casually.Landon gently tapped her shoulder. “Are you brushing me off?”Emma pouted. “You hit me…”Landon hurriedly rubbed her shoulder. “Did it hurt?”He had not even used enough force to swat a fly but hearing Emma say it made him do

People loved to take advantage of a good deal, and after consulting the owner, the manager anticipated such behavior from the customers when he proposed the solution. Besides, both the owner and the manager possessed a broader vision. They understood that they could not let a small financial loss tarnish their restaurant's reputation. The way they handled the incident turned into a great advertising opportunity. Those diners who experienced the situation firsthand became loyal customers. They now had a favorable impression of the restaurant and would be the first to recommend it for future gatherings or family outings. No amount of traditional advertising could rival the power of genuine recommendations from friends and family. Both the restaurant owner and manager knew how to effectively navigate a business crisis. What could have been a damaging situation had transformed into positive publicity due to their prompt action.“Let Daddy explain the specifics of the business

The restaurant manager politely apologized and thanked them before clearing all the food from the table. Emma smiled. "I really like this restaurant."Landon nodded, recognizing that this was a business that understood customer service. Just then, Emma spotted Asher’s confused expression. "Those dishes we had earlier might have been touched by that lady."If someone used a spoon that others had already used to scoop food for me, would you be pleased by that?" Asher shook his head vigorously. "Not at all!""Exactly! So, the food that might have come into contact with that lady's saliva was removed and destroyed by the restaurant staff," Emma continued. Asher looked concerned at Emma’s words. "That's such a waste!" "It is, but there's no other option," Emma sighed lightly. "If someone were to get sick from eating that food, it would be much worse. That was a terrible mistake that the lady made. "So the restaurant staff wants to make sure that the mistake was dealt with the

Asher nodded energetically. “Yes!”“Exactly! So, making mistakes isn’t scary, and not knowing things isn’t scary either. The key is to admit it boldly,” Emma explained.“When we make a mistake, we correct it. If we don’t know something, and it doesn’t affect others, we don’t have to learn it if we don’t want to.“But if it impacts others, we need to learn from it,” she continued.“Just like that lady earlier, she needed to learn not to use shared tongs to serve food. But for something like not wanting to do someone’s makeup, that’s okay, she doesn’t have to learn that.“Shared tongs are necessary for everyone, and they can’t be replaced. If you don’t want to do someone’s makeup, they can find someone else to help. That service can be substituted.”Asher listened intently and nodded his head. “I understand now, Mommy!”Landon watched the entire exchange and silently marveled at Emma’s approach. She had a knack for using examples from Asher’s own experiences to explain things, m

Asher beamed up at Emma, a sense of pride shining on his face.Emma finally gathered her emotions and turned to Asher. “Mommy makes mistakes too, Ash.”Asher’s smile faltered as confusion washed over him. “Huh?”Emma chuckled softly and ruffled his hair. “It’s not just Mommy who makes mistakes, Daddy does too.”“Really?” Asher exclaimed as he turned to look at Landon. His face was filled with disbelief.Landon smiled, though he was unsure where Emma was going with the conversation. Nevertheless, he cooperated without hesitation. “That’s right. Daddy makes mistakes too.”Asher’s mouth hung open in surprise, clearly shocked to learn that his impressive parents could also err.“Not just your parents,” Emma continued with a smile, “even people who are more capable than us make mistakes.”“Why?” Asher asked, furrowing his brows in confusion. “If everyone makes mistakes, then why do we even learn?”“Because we work hard to make fewer mistakes and try our best not to cause trouble

“What disruption? You’re just bullying your customers because your business is big!” The middle-aged woman exploded in anger. “Don’t think I’m easy to push around. I’m calling the police!”The restaurant manager nodded calmly. “Please do. Since your actions have caused damage to our establishment, we will also hold you accountable for those damages.”“Damages? What damages?” the woman shouted, stomping her feet in frustration.Unfazed, the manager responded evenly, “Because of your actions, we now need to remove and replace all the food at the serving stations. You’ll be responsible for covering those losses.“And if any customers request refunds because of this, we’ll refund them in full. If they ask for compensation, we’ll provide that too. All of these expenses will be your responsibility.”The woman nearly exploded at the manager’s words. “You’re deluded!“Come on, son, we’re leaving!” She yanked her son’s arm, pulling him toward the exit. But the restaurant staff was not ab

Since Asher had decided to eat one piece of cake himself, he chose fewer cakes, worried that he would not be able to finish them.‘Look at that! Just as they were about to leave, Asher suddenly grabbed her sleeve.Puzzled, Emma looked down and asked, “What is it, sweetie?”“They’re using tongs to feed each other,” Asher said, frowning in displeasure.Emma glanced over and saw a middle-aged woman holding a pair of tongs, about to feed a cake to her son. The boy, around eight or nine, reached out to take the cake with his hand, but the woman pulled the tongs back and scolded him, “Don’t use your hands! Just open your mouth.”Emma felt her face flush in disbelief. ‘What are they thinking?’ she protested quietly. The woman did not want her son to use his hands, claiming it was dirty, yet she was about to feed him with the tongs that everyone used to

Landon smiled. “I like eating too. Our whole family does. But what I enjoy most is eating with all of you.”Asher quickly agreed, “I’m always happy when I eat with Mommy and Daddy.”The family of three arrived at the buffet. Thankfully, Emma had already reserved a spot using her phone while they were still on the road. They headed straight to a small private room, ordered their food through the app, and waited for the server to bring it.“Mommy…” Asher called as he tugged at Emma’s shirt. “I want some cake.”Emma laughed and put on her sunglasses. “Let’s go get some cake.”Asher beamed with excitement. “Okay!” With one hand he held Emma’s hand tightly, while he swung the other one back and forth enthusiastically. He hurried along, and his wide, gleaming eyes searched eagerly for the cake display ahead.“Mommy, over there!” He spotted the table filled with cakes in an instant.Even though he was thrilled to see the cakes, Asher did not let go of Emma’s hand or rush ahead.
