Ring! Ring!! Ring!!!
Jade's phone buzzed on the table. Sapphire tried to reach for the phone but she couldn't. Jade was resting on the other side of her shoulder and she didn't want to wake him up. Else, he might not get time to sleep.
The buzzing stopped and continued again. She stretched her hand and finally touched the screen. Doing this, Jade woke up. He took a deep breath and looked around, confusedly.
"How long have I slept?" He asked.
"Not that long. Almost an hour ago."
Jade let out a heavy sigh and hummed to himself. "I finally feel alive again."
Sapphire stared at him with guilt laced in her eyes. For some reasons, she felt responsible for everything. As if she'd pushed him to the wall in the last three days.
"You look like you've only managed to have a meal today. How many hours of sleep have you been getting?"
"I have something to say. Don't be too mean to me. We weren't that bad three years ago." She explained as they walked towards the restaurant in his hotel.Hearing her bringing up the past doesn't sit right in Jade's ears. Immediately, he turned to her with a friend."What is it you want to say?""You want to talk here?" She asked as Jade looked around him. They were halfway to the restaurant already, but he didn't want to keep Sapphire waiting, again. They just got together a night before."Let's go!" He rolled his eyes at Chloe as they went to the restaurant. After a while, they got seated and Chloe started the discussion."Let's start over, Jade."Hearing her say this wasn't funny but ridiculous. Jade just had to laugh. Something uncommon when they were together. He gazed at Chloe for a second."You don't have any feelings toward me
The Next Morning...Sapphire was scrolling through her phone, reading the morning news from a website. She felt happy as she scrolled through the written article."Hey girl, what are you smiling about?" Zoey walked to her. With a glint of joy and happiness in Sapphire's eyes, she showed her friend the news."What? Gabby got signed?!""Yes!" Sapphire replied. "Umm... I want to ask. When would you close your today?""Why? Do you want me to close early so we can eat and drink together?""No. Not that exactly. I also want to ask... Can you tell me what most guys are into." Excitement laced her eyes as she asked."What? Guys?" Zoey whizzed at her. "Guys like who? Gabby?""No, not Gabby!" Sapphire jerked almost immediately. "So you know... I was referring to an average adult guy. More of a man."
Hours Later...9:00 p.mSapphire took Jade into Zoey's boutique. The whole place was dark, but she led him through by holding his hand firmly into hers. Then, she switched on the lights as the room got brighter."I left something here." She lied.Jade just followed. His eyes scrolled back and forth the stuffy place."I don't think Zoey is here. Why would she close her shop this early... I don't understand."Sapphire smiled at Jade's curiosity. She just led him upstairs without saying anything.Just then, he saw a poster designed with balloons saying; Happy Birthday, My Dear, Jade."I borrowed her entire store just for you. Isn't that amazing?!" She jerked with excitement.Jade stare mouth-opened. It's clear that he wasn't expecting any of this."Com
After eating, Sapphire brought out her present for him. It was wrapped in a golden box.Jade wore a curious face at it, wondering what would be there."It's a gift for you. Aren't you going to open it?" Sapphire leered at him.Jade looked at her awkwardly. It's the first time a girl is giving him a gift. Well, he wasn't feeling right with it but he collected the present.Noticing the disappointing look on his face, Sapphire decided to open up to him, a bit."I'm sorry, it's but a billion dollar car or a 100 million dollar watch." Jade goover at her surprisingly, wondering why she's ever want to get him stuff like that."But in exchange, you don't have to buy me such things, either." She ended the sentence."I already have trending cars and watches." He muttered, frankly. "Why? Did someone tell you that I'll need something like that?"
***Days Later"Write up the minute for the meeting and send them to me." Jade instructed Mr. Tim."Yes.""And as for the plan for winning the governor over... We'll be doing it.""Um, yes sir." He and others chorused as they left the meeting room.Just then, his phone vibrated. Jade checked it immediately, and it was a message from Sapphire.'I won't be able to come today.'Jade frowned as he read her text."Imagine? How annoying!" He hissed. So sorry, it's going to be a long day today, and I just. Can't. Come.... She sent him a crying cat's meme."What's it with this woman, huh? She's not even reading my text now?"Meanwhile, others were gossiping about him."Is our CEO really in a relationship?" Barbara asked her colleagues.
Mrs Fiona was doing the dishes while Sapphire took a piece of fried chicken lap her mum brought for her from home. It was from her dad's big poultry farm. Eating the piece made her miss home but her parents torture made her leave because they were always on her neck. As the only child, it feels as if all they think of her is her future. Everything should be well planned. While enjoying the chicken, Jade's call came in. Sapphire looked nervously at her mother who was concentrated on the dishes. She quickly walked to her room to receive the call."Why are you calling me?" She whispered as silent as possible. How are you going to make up for the fact that you broke your promise to me?!"My mum came unexpected and I can't go anywhere right now. Don't worry, I'll let you choose two things that you want to do next time." She whispered a little louder."Well, as if I have a choice. So your mum's around. What did
It was already evening. The sky was the mixture of three beautiful colours; purple, blue and pink. Tiny, butterflies danced all around the environment looking for sweet nectar. The flowers in which they touched spread out a romantic kind of scent that filled the environment making the evening more pleasant. Fresh, windy, cool and crispy air started whistling like an invisible ghost. The huge, trees standing in between the streetlights- along the road, whispered how beautiful the atmosphere was.Sapphire and Jade gently walked alongside but they weren't holding hands. Sapphire watched Jade as they walked through the path but suddenly, a passer by mistakenly hit Sapphire by the shoulder and walked away without muttering an apology. She clamoured in fear but Jade held her back."Are you okay?" He asked with so much concern but before Sapphire didn't reply. He traced her hand and held it tight into his, intertwined.Noticing t
Jade placed his hand into his side pocket and brought out his own. On the desk were he was sitting, there was a clean sheet of paper, so, he started writing about himself. Dining the test too, as Sapphire had instructed. With a smile at her students, she gently walked to Jade and watching what he was writing. Sapphire didn't want to argue in front of her students, so she calmed down."What are you doing?" She asked, her eyes still focused in her students as they write."I'm just getting a little educated." He replied her with a puppy smile. "And you're the one who told me to come here in the first place. You said you wanted to do things fair and square.""But still, who told you to come here and... Thais is a classroom. As you can see I'm busy, I told you that, didn't I?""I'm observing. Your principal said it was fine for me to come in.""But you're not a parent." He hiss
