Chapter Three

Dwane's POV.

I was reluctant in leaving for the hunt and checking the borders of the pack, I sent my beta already and few of my warriors, but somehow something drove me out of the training room, I rushed into my room showering immediately, I didn't know why I suddenly felt like going out, but I decided to join them in what they were doing.

My wolf was hyper today, overly excited for some reason I didn't seem to understand, it wasn't this excited even while I had sex as a form to tame it's madness, but it got really happy, jumping around when I said I was going out.

"Why are you so happy?" I asked my wolf.

"I don't know, I have a feeling that something good will happen." It replied, still jumping around.

"You're excited over a feeling?" I asked shockingly.

"Yes, I feel good for whatever good is coming." It said and I scoffed while walking ahead, I wanted to find out whatever it was that made my wolf this excited,I was getting excited too, and I didn't see anything that deserved this happiness I felt.

It was such a long walk to the border of my pack, so I decided to run quickly and get this over with, I heard a scuffle when I walked close to the border.

"What is..?" I was about to ask, when a scent suddenly filled me. I've always heard that the scent of a mate was top notch.

I walked closer inhaling the scent, my wolf was also alert, it danced happily,I looked around at first, then I saw my beta hold the hands of a woman and I paused.

My eyes met hers and her scent, the delicious scent that had me going crazy hit me harder than ever, my eyes widened, I couldn't believe this, my nostrils flared and my wolf jumped.

"Mate, mate, mate, mate." My wolf danced happily.

"Mate." I said and my beta left her hands and stepped back immediately, my warriors turned to me in surprise, I stared at her as her eyes widened, I'm sure she also felt what I felt.

I took in her appearance, her strawberry blonde hair that was very long, she had it braided into pigtails, her freckles, her lips, her curvy body, which showed very well, due to her coming out from the water, her nipples were visible and I growled because the others saw that, she was drenched, and she also looked messy and hurt as well, I wondered where she came from.

"Alpha are you sure?" Aren my beta asked.

"Yes I am." I replied and he nodded.

I understood why I was asked that question, I was also shocked to discover that I have a mate after all, I wasn't mate-less as I thought, my warriors looked at me with surprise as they realized I was being serious.

"Wow, I never thought this day would come." Dean said and I smiled.

He was one of my best warriors. I faced her and she looked at me wearingly ,she clutched her bag tightly.

"Alpha, we still need to have her questioned." Aren said and I smiled, he always wanted my best interest.

"She may be a rogue." He added and I sighed, if she was a rogue, then it'll be a big problem,but that didn't matter to me, she is my mate and I'll work my way around it, all I needed to know is the pack she came from.

"Take her, let's go." I replied and Aren nodded.

She followed them, still looking at me wearingly, I wondered why she was so guarded around me.

She looked so innocent and vulnerable as well, it felt like someone would break her anytime soon, I would break down anyone who does, that's the realization I settled on, I didn't even know much about her, but the need to protect from whoever made her this skittish enveloped me.

We reached the pack's house ten minutes later.

I took her into one of the spare rooms that was close to my room, no one stayed there anyways.

"What's your name?" I asked her and she eyed me for a few seconds then sighed.

"Melina Williams." She replied softly.

"Thank you." I said writing her name on a piece of paper.

"Find out information about her." I said to Aren and he nodded leaving immediately.

I came back and sat close to her, she didn't shift this time, she looked at me directly, I felt like she could stare at my soul, her hazel eyes vibrant, it was like she was speaking to me.

"Won't you reject me?" She asked and I stilled.

"Why will I reject you, you're my mate." I said and she sighed.

"Oh." She replied.

"Alpha, I'm back." Aren said and I stood up.

"I'll be with you soon." I told her leaving to meet Aren outside.

Our hacker and computer operator found information about others easily.

"What did you find?" I asked.

"She's kinda a rogue, but not really." Aren replied.

"Explain." I said.

"She was the daughter of the former beta of the Crescent pack, her pack was overthrown and they had a new alpha named Alpha Rick, the alpha that has been really disturbing at times to us." He said and I swallowed, wondering what he did to her.

"He made her parents slaves and she was born a slave too, he also rejected her, I heard they were mates and he tortured her, I think she escaped from him." Aren added and I gripped the handle I was holding.

"Now I get why she asked me if I wasn't rejecting her." I muttered.

"So I don't think she's harmful or anything." Aren added and I nodded.

I was raging, I felt like going to the Crescent pack to kill the Alpha, I don't know all he did to her, but I understood why she was weary around others and why she thought I was going to reject her.

"Thanks for the info." I told Aren leaving him, I went inside to meet her.
