VIVIAN’S POV

The air seemed to thin as Eva’s words sliced through it, cold and final. For a moment, I thought I’d misheard her. Surely, she couldn’t mean—“What do you mean there’s nothing you can do?” My voice cracked, raw with disbelief and desperation. “You’re just going to leave me and my mother to face this? Alone?”

Eva’s expression didn’t waver. She leaned casually against her desk, arms folded—the picture of composed indifference. But there was a chill in her eyes that made my stomach twist.

“Vivian,” she began, her tone maddeningly calm, “getting involved now would only implicate us further. That would bring trouble—not just for you, but for everyone here. You need to understand that. Running isn’t an option. Alpha Xavier has already tightened security. No one leaves this pack without his say-so.”

Her words struck me like a hammer. Panic clawed up my throat, my chest tightening like a vise. My hands trembled, clenched into fists as I struggled to hold myself together.

“So that’s

EVA’S POVAs soon as the door slammed shut behind Vivian, the air seemed to thicken, pressing against my lungs. A snarl tore from my throat before I could stop it—a raw, jagged sound that mirrored my frayed nerves. My hands clenched into trembling fists as I stared at the now-empty chair, the weight of her failure settling in my chest like lead."How could she screw up something so simple?" I hissed under my breath, the words cutting like a bitter knife. Poisoning a cake—it wasn’t rocket science. It wasn’t some elaborate spell requiring finesse. Just a drop of that substance, a quiet delivery, and we’d be free of this nightmare.Instead, we were careening toward disaster because Vivian couldn’t follow through.I raked my fingers through my hair, yanking at the strands in frustration. My pacing was sharp and restless, the old floorboards creaking underfoot as if groaning in agreement with the chaos swirling in my head.“Damn it, Vivian,” I spat, my voice sharp enough to cut. My shadow

EVA’S POVI arrived at Elijah’s house with my lungs on fire, each breath a ragged scrape in my chest. The cold air bit at my cheeks, but I barely noticed. My mind was a whirlwind of fear, urgency, and a single, unyielding thought: I had to reach him. When the house servant opened the door, I all but stumbled inside. His startled expression barely registered.“Miss Eva—” he started, but I brushed past him without a word, my boots echoing sharply against the marble floor.Elijah’s study was at the far end of the hall, a place I’d walked to countless times but never with this kind of dread pressing down on me. My pulse pounded in my ears, drowning out everything else as I reached the door. Without hesitation, I shoved it open. The sight before me stopped me mid-step.Elijah sat at the head of a long oak table, his posture as poised and powerful as ever. But it wasn’t just him. Four elders from the pack council surrounded him, their lined faces snapping toward me in perfect, synchronized

XAVIER’S POVI stepped into the room, the faint creak of the door announcing my arrival. The air inside was heavy, charged with a tension that seemed to ripple outward the moment I crossed the threshold. My presence was a storm cloud—dark, looming—and I saw it reflected in their faces: every flicker of unease, every subtle shift of a foot.A servant showed me to the living room before disappearing down the hallway, likely to fetch his master, Elder Elijah. My eyes swept the room with practiced precision, noting every movement, every detail. Then I saw her.Beatrice stood near the far wall, half-hidden behind the stairs, as if she wished she could vanish entirely. I stared at her, memories flooding my mind. She was once vibrant, her laughter brightening even the dullest corners of a room. Now, she was a shadow of her former self—silent, fragile, yet trying too hard to appear composed.Ever since her son, Edward, had been convicted of a crime, she had withdrawn from everyone, retreating

Eva’s POVI paced the length of Elder Elijah’s study, my arms wrapped around myself like a shield. The air in the room was heavy and oppressive, pressing against my chest until my breaths came shallow and uneven.Every creak of the old floorboards beneath my feet felt deafening in the suffocating silence. My mind churned with dark thoughts, each one more terrifying than the last. What if Vivian broke? What if she told Xavier everything? What if he’s out there right now, ready to tear everything apart? My hands trembled uncontrollably. I gripped the edge of the desk, my nails digging into the polished wood as if its solidity could keep me grounded. It didn’t.My heart thundered in my ears—a relentless drumbeat drowning out reason. For a moment, my vision swam, and the room spun as panic clawed its way up my throat. The sudden creak of the door shattered the silence. I whipped around, nearly stumbling in my haste. Elijah’s POVAs the door clicked shut behind Eva, I dragged a hand over my face, the weight of frustration pressing into my temples. She was chaos personified—volatile, impulsive, dangerous. A storm barely contained, and I was the fool trying to keep it from breaking loose.I moved to the window, tugging the heavy curtains aside just enough to catch a glimpse of her. She was scurrying down the walkway, her coat flapping like the wings of a frightened bird. She didn’t even glance back. Typical.“Damn it, Eva,” I muttered under my breath, the words bitter on my tongue. If she didn’t keep herself together, it wouldn’t just be her downfall. She’d take me down too.The sharp knock at the door snapped me from my spiraling thoughts. I straightened, smoothing the front of my shirt with deliberate precision before opening it. Beatrice stood there, her expression carved from ice, though the fire in her eyes betrayed her fury.“She’s gone,” she announced, stepping inside without waiting for an i

  • My Mate's Betrayal And Rejection   191: Driven By Vengeance

ELIJAH’S POVFifteen years agoIt was mid-summer, a day so vivid in my mind that, even now, it feels like yesterday. The sun hung heavy in the sky, its heat oppressive—though no warmth could touch the chill that settled in my bones when the knock came. The guard’s face was pale, his lips tight, carrying a message he didn’t want to deliver.“Your son, Edward,” he began, voice trembling but firm, “he’s been caught secretly dealing with rogues.”I stared at him, uncomprehending, as though he had spoken in a language I didn’t know. My knees buckled, and the air seemed to grow heavier, sharper. Dealing with rogues. The phrase echoed in my mind, foreign and terrible. It wasn’t possible. Edward was many things—rebellious, headstrong—but this? No.I stumbled into the hall, the guard following at a careful distance, his eyes flickering with something close to pity. My thoughts spun wildly, landing on one man: Louis, the Lycan King. Ruthless and unyielding, yes, but a friend—or so I’d believed.

  • My Mate's Betrayal And Rejection   192: When Words Fail

HANNAH’S POVThe dim light in the interrogation room seemed to press down on me, heavy and suffocating, feeding the storm raging in my chest. My fists clenched so tightly that my nails bit into my palms.Across the cold metal table, Vivian sat shackled to a silver chair, right where Cecilia had been just hours ago. Her wrists were bound, the restraints gleaming like cruel ornaments. Yet, she lounged there as though she were on a break—her expression blank, her eyes cold and distant. It was the calm that infuriated me most.“Why?” The word slipped from my lips, low and broken, before I could stop it. My voice wavered, raw with desperation. “Why did you do it? Why did you try to kill my son?”Vivian tilted her head slightly, her lips curling into the faintest smirk. It wasn’t even an effortful smirk—it was lazy, like she barely cared enough to insult me. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, her tone so cool it felt like a slap. “And honestly, I’m tired of your little dram

My chest tightened, and tears spilled before I could stop them—hot and unstoppable.I curled into myself, hands trembling as I pressed my face into them, trying to muffle the sound of my sobs. The memory of what I’d almost done burned behind my eyelids, sharp and vivid.I could still feel the cold fury in my hands, see Vivian’s terrified face, and hear the crackle of my own rage.I hadn’t recognized myself back there. That person—the one who nearly killed her—was someone I didn’t know. Someone capable of murder. But then I thought about Ella—sweet, innocent Ella—who had died the death meant for my son. My Jackson. • My Mate's Betrayal And Rejection   112: Epilogue

XAVIER’S POVThree more years.Had it really been three more years since that day? Time slipped through my fingers like grains of sand, each moment fleeting, each memory a fragile thing. The morning air was crisp as I stretched, feeling the tension in my muscles ease.Today was a special day—one of those rare moments I got to spend alone with my little girl. While Jackson and Liam trained with the warriors, I had promised Laila a run through the woods. The shift came like a second breath—bones cracking, muscles reshaping, fur erupting across my skin. My Lycan form towered over her, massive and powerful, but to Laila? I was just her ride. Though she was already twelve years old, she was still my little girl as her small hands gripped my fur.“Ready, Daddy?” she chirped, fingers twitching at her sides like she could barely contain herself.I smirked, rolling my shoulders. “Hold on tight.” As soon as I felt she was secure, I took off, sprinting through the dense forest. Her laughter rang

He took everything seriously, from his training to his studies. Laila, on the other hand, was full of boundless energy. She was fierce, confident, and determined, much like Xavier and Jackson. Despite my gentle protests that training was for boys, she never listened."Mom, I can do anything Jackson and Liam can do!" she would say, hands on her hips, her bright eyes glowing with determination.I sighed, trying once more to reason with her. • My Mate's Betrayal And Rejection   109: Massive Meltdown

HANNAH’S POVAs usual, pack members and friends came in their numbers to welcome our bundle of joy. The twins were three weeks old when the first real storm hit.Not the kind with thunder and lightning—though the sky outside the packhouse had been a brooding gray all day—but the kind that brewed in the quiet spaces between exhaustion and overwhelming love.Laila had been fussing for hours, her tiny face scrunched in displeasure, her cries sharp enough to make my bones ache. Liam, usually the calmer of the two, had picked up on her distress, his whimpers joining hers in a relentless chorus.I swayed gently in the rocking chair, Laila pressed against my chest, her tiny fingers tangled in the fabric of my shirt. My eyelids felt like lead, my body still healing—still sore in ways I hadn’t expected.“Shhh, sweet girl,” I murmured, running a hand over her downy hair. “Mama’s here.”But she only cried harder, her little body trembling.Across the room, Xavier paced with Liam in his arms, his

HANNAH’S POVThe days after Laila and Liam’s birth melted into a fog of exhaustion, wonder, and a love so fierce it hurt. Our home, once a steady hum of three, now thrummed with the wild, beautiful chaos of five—tiny hiccupping cries, Jackson’s excited footsteps pounding down the hall, Xavier’s deep, soothing voice murmuring promises as he moved through the house, always there, always knowing what we needed before we did.The morning after we were discharged from the hospital, I woke to the soft, uneven whimpers of the twins. My body ached, muscles still trembling from the ordeal, my mind heavy with a tiredness that seeped into my bones. But when I turned my head, Xavier was already there—his broad arms lifting them from their crib as gently as if they were made of glass."Shhh, my loves," he whispered, his voice thick with sleep but impossibly gentle. He cradled them against his chest, one in each arm, his thumbs brushing their flushed cheeks. "Let your mama rest a little longer, yea

My heart fluttered at the thought of the twins finally coming home. Our home.“Just a little longer now,” I whispered, a smile tugging at the corner of my lips.I picked up a small stuffed wolf, turning it over in my hands before placing it carefully beside its twin—when suddenly, warmth rushed down my legs, soaking through my dress. My breath hitched. “Oh.”A sharp cramp twisted low in my belly, stealing the air from my lungs. My fingers dug into the edge of the crib as another wave of pressure rolled through me. “It’s happening.”“Jackson!” I called, forcing my voice to stay steady even as my pulse roared in my ears. The door burst open seconds later, my son’s wide, wo
