Dante’s POV

It was late at night. I was still awake in my office, finishing off some last-minute reports. Suddenly, Mako became restless, clawing at the back of my mind, making it hard to concentrate.

“What is it?” I muttered, rubbing my temple. But before I could get a response, I felt a sharp pain in my chest—like I was being stabbed in the ribs.

I clutched my chest in pain, groaning loudly as I struggled to understand what was happening.

My phone buzzed on my desk. I managed to pick it up, but what I heard next shattered my world.

“WHAT?” I shot up from my chair, my eyes wide with panic. “What do you mean it’s on fire?! How did that happen?”

“We don’t know!” The voice on the other end was frantic and breathless. “The fire just suddenly started, and it’s spreading fast…”

“My wife… Amaya—where is she? Is she out?” I questioned, my chest tightening painfully as I groaned.

There was a moment of silence on the other end, and I growled in frustration. “Answer me, dammit!”

Dante’s POVWhen I woke up, the first thing I noticed was the pain in my chest—not from the burn or the smoke, but from the empty void left behind. The second thing I noticed was the sterile scent of disinfectant. My eyes fluttered open. I was in the pack hospital. My head rolled to the side, and I saw Cyrus sitting in a chair nearby. His arms were crossed over his chest, and his eyes were closed, but the tension in his face told me he wasn’t asleep. The moment I shifted, his eyes snapped open.“You’re awake,” he said.I stared at him blankly, my mind still fogged from whatever drugs they had pumped into my system.“How long…”“A day,” he responded.I sat up too quickly and winced in pain.“Amaya.” Her name escaped my lips like a breathless prayer, and Cyrus’s gaze darkened.“She’s gone, Dante,” he said quietly, and my fist clenched. “Her remains were found in the wreckage. I’m sorry.”“I want to see her,” I said, forcing my feet to touch the cold floor.Cyrus’s eyes widened slightly.

Dante’s POV “Stop the damn car!” I roared. Cyrus cursed under his breath and slammed his foot on the brake. The tires screeched, and before the car even fully stopped, I had the door open and was stepping out. As I stalked toward the gathering, I overheard conversations. “Well, at least now the Alpha can finally find a real Luna.” I felt a stab in my chest. “She was never fit to be Luna anyway. Honestly, it’s better this way.” A male laughed. “He dodged a bullet if you ask me.” My fists clenched at my sides. As soon as they started to notice my presence, their conversations died down—but it was already too late. Rage had blinded my vision, and Mako was growling, begging to be released. When the man with the torch saw me, his eyes widened. “Put it down,” I growled, still trying to remain calm. The man lowered the torch, hesitating for a moment, but then he smirked and tossed it toward the picture. The flames caught instantly. Something in me snapped, and in an instant, I gr

Dante’s POV “It’s me.” I shook my head. My vision was still too foggy to make sense of what was happening. But it sounded like her. And the way she moved—when she touched my cheek—it felt like her. Her finger brushed my jawline. “You came back,” I whispered, lifting my hand to cover hers. She bummed in response, lowering herself onto my lap. Her scent wrapped around me, so intoxicating that I instinctively slid my hands to her waist. “I miss you,” I murmured, pressing my forehead against her shoulder. “I miss you too,” she whispered back, and I could feel her hot breath against my ear. My hand tightened on her waist, and she leaned closer, brushing her lips against the side of my neck while her fingers ran through my hair. “Amaya…” I groaned, pulling her closer, burying my face into her skin. She trailed her lips teasingly down my neck, sliding her nails under my shirt. Just when she started to lift it… “Yes,” she responded, but my body stiffened. The voice was different t

Dante POVDays passed, and there was still no news on her whereabouts.Everyone who saw her last swore they saw her at the mental hospital before the fire.I was growing impatient with every passing day, knowing Amaya’s murderer was somewhere out there, breathing the same air as me.Cyrus was always quick to remind me that the missing nurse was just a suspect — after all, we couldn’t recognize the person’s face in the footage, and it was too grainy to make a clear identification. But I didn’t care.Someone set that fire. Someone walked out of that room while my mate burned to death. And someone was going to pay for it.I was in my office, trying to distract myself by rewatching the CCTV footage over and over again. Each time the image of the nurse flashed on the screen, I would curse under my breath.Cyrus was also present, but he sat in the far corner of my office, quietly observing me. He had been doing that a lot lately. I wouldn’t blame him — I was slowly going mad.My fist clench

Dante’s POV Cyrus took a moment to process my words, his expression shifting from confusion to shock as he blurted, “What?” He stared at the laptop screen, zooming in on the picture. “Are you sure? This… this can’t be right.” He was in denial, just like I was. From the little interaction we both witnessed earlier today, it was clear to both of us that Kara was hiding something — but a part of me refused to believe she would have anything to do with this. She had been a part of my life for years. Even when Amaya came into the picture, Kara never crossed the line — not until that night. She had always been composed, always careful with her words and actions. That’s why this didn’t make sense. “I don’t know,” I growled. “But what else makes sense? That tattoo is identical to Kara’s. And you saw her reaction when I mentioned the footage.” My jaw clenched while Cyrus still looked to be in disbelief. “I should have known,” he muttered. “That night the healer went missing after Amaya wa

Dante POVHer faint figure was bathed in the moonlight, her long hair cascading down her shoulders. She wore a thin white dress that fluttered softly in the night breeze.Hearing my voice, her head turned slowly, and when her eyes met mine, my heart clenched.I stumbled on my feet as I walked toward her, but then her gaze dropped to the railing.No.She lifted one foot off the edge of the balcony and slowly began to lean forward.“No!” I shouted, lunging forward.I desperately reached out to grab her hand, but when I touched it, it was cold — so cold it made my skin burn.“I… I’m sorry…” she whispered.“No,” I growled, tightening my grip. “Don’t… don’t do this. Please!”But she smiled — that soft, sad smile — and she let go of the railing.“AMAYA!”I grabbed her wrist, my muscles screaming in protest as I pulled her back, but her hand started to slip through my grasp like smoke.“No, no, no!” I screamed. “You’re not leaving me again! I won’t lose you again!”I pulled harder — harder —

Amaya’s POV I died. After multiple attempts, I was sent off to a mental hospital. Dante had hoped it would make me better, but it only made me worse. The nurses tortured me, claiming it was for my own good — the needles, the restraints, the cold baths in the middle of the night. I remember screaming, crying, and begging, but no one listened. There was this nurse in particular who was hell-bent on breaking me, and whenever Dante was scheduled to visit, she made sure I was in no condition to see him. She would slip into my room hours before his arrival. “You’re not ready to see him,” she would whisper. “You need to calm down first.” That’s when the injection would come in. My body would grow heavy, my vision would blur until I couldn’t tell whether I was awake or dreaming. That night, as usual, she came into my room. This time, I tried to fight her off, but she was stronger and easily pinned me down. “Stop struggling,” she hissed. Even when I begged, she only smiled and presse

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 58

Amaya’s POV I hit the ground hard, rolling onto my side as pain exploded in my leg and ribs. But I was out. I was breathing. I coughed violently, and blood spilled from my lips as I gasped for breath. The cold air hit my skin, a cruel contrast to the burning heat I had just escaped from. My body trembled, and all I could do was lay on my back, staring up at the night sky. For a moment, I remained there — until I heard the sound of sirens and shouts from the crowd. I knew I would be found if I remained there, so I forced myself up, clutching my stomach and ignoring the intense pain. Gritting my teeth, I began to limp toward the opposite side of the building, toward the thick trees and bushes beyond. All this while, I noticed Nyx had suddenly gone quiet, but I didn’t think too much of it as my main goal was to get as far away from the hospital and Dante as much as possible. Just a little more… I could see the dark outline of the trees. If I could just make it past there, I cou

Amaya POV “You cry really loud for someone who just volunteered as tribute.” I gasped with a startled breath. I whipped my head around, tear-streaked cheeks and wide eyes, only to find Briella lounging upside down on my reading chair. One leg dangled over the backrest, a book in her hand and a lollipop in her mouth. She didn’t even look up from the book. “What the hell are you doing here?” I asked, sitting up and aggressively wiping the tears from my face with the back of my hand. “How… how long have you been sitting there?” Briella finally looked up, popping the sweet out of her mouth. “Long enough,” she said, and casually set the book aside. “So… what are you doing here?” I asked. She sat up now, swinging her legs over the side of the chair. Knowing Briella, she never showed up unless she needed something or had something to say. Briella was many things, but silent company wasn’t one of them. “It’s about the mission,” she finally said. I knew it. I crossed my arms. “If you

Amaya POV“Because he saved my life.”I had expected a thousand excuses to justify his actions. Political reasons. Strategy. Maybe even fear. I mean, a lot of packs were indeed afraid of Dante’s wrath, so it would make a little sense if that was the case. But that—that I didn’t expect.“What?” I said in shock, unsure of how else to respond.“Over fifteen years ago,” he said, staring down at his hands like they held pieces of a past he didn’t want to relive. “Ryder fell gravely ill. The healers and doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him—he was dying slowly right in front of me. I had already lost my mate… I couldn’t lose my only son too.”His jaw clenched as he relived the memory.“My Beta back then—Harlem—recommended someone. He said there was a powerful healer who lived beyond the northern border, someone who didn’t belong to any pack but had cured impossible cases before. The problem was, he wasn’t reachable. We had to go to him.”He paused, his expression hardened, and

Amaya POV “I volunteer,” I said with no hesitation. The room suddenly went quiet. Alpha Beckett furrowed his brow, Ryder’s eyes widened, and I could feel the tension shift. “You?” Dante asked, rising halfway from his seat. “Amaya—” “I said what I said.” I cut him off calmly. “This is my pack too. And if there’s danger near our borders, I’m not sitting here twiddling my thumbs while the rest of you bleed.” Ryder stepped away from the wall and was now fully focused on me. His jaw ticked, but he didn’t say anything. Beckett exchanged a look with one of the council members, then nodded slowly. “Fine. You’ll be briefed in twenty minutes.” I nodded and turned around before anyone could protest further, ignoring the burning gaze of Dante behind me. I barely made it past the hallway before I heard footsteps behind me. “Amaya,” Ryder called, and I stopped. My lips curled into a small smile, but as I turned, I was met with a blank stare that made it falter. “What is it?” I as

Amaya POV“Are you crazy?” I hissed, struggling against him. “There are guards everywhere.”Although it was a little dark and the training grounds were usually deserted at this time of night, I knew it was only a matter of time before someone stumbled upon us. And that would cause a lot of issues.“So?” he said, unbothered. “It’s not like I’m doing anything wrong. You’re still my wife.”“Ex-wife!” I snapped instantly. “I am happily married, thank you very much. To Ryder. Who, in case you forgot, is the soon-to-be Alpha of this pack and doesn’t need you breathing down my neck like some jealous wolf who can’t take a hint.”His jaw tightened, but I didn’t stop. If anything, I spoke louder. “We are over, Dante. I moved on. I am healed.”Of course, that was a lie. I wasn’t anywhere close to being healed. How does one even heal from that?“And now you’re here, messing everything up like you always do…”“Enough,” he growled, and I flinched at the raw sound of it. The kind of growl that made

Amaya’s POVI tried to ignore him. I really did. But it was hard—especially since he was everywhere. I couldn’t even turn a corner without catching a glimpse of his face.He wasn’t saying or doing anything—thank the Moon Goddess for that. But still…I couldn’t stand being around him.“Is it true you were married to Alpha Dante’s?” Brielle suddenly asked. We were at the training ground that evening since our practice had been interrupted the day before.I blinked, caught off guard by the question.“What?” I said, lowering my sword.“There’ve been rumors flying around about Alpha Dante, and how he came back to get you,” she replied casually, wiping the sweat from her brow.Right. Only a few people knew about my marriage to Dante. I had spent most of my time within the walls of the packhouse, only stepping out on rare occasions. And since coming to Ryder’s pack, there had never been a reason to mention it.“Only the first half is true,” I said, raising my sword again as she prepared to s

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 70

Dante’s POV That night, she slipped away. I searched for her, only to find out the next morning that she was no longer at the hotel. My stay became useless after that. I left instantly, returned to my pack, and paid a spy to investigate that idiot, Ryder. That was how I found out Amaya had been secretly living in his pack this whole time—while I thought she was dead. And the worst part? She was actually married to him. Then who the hell had I buried? I had her grave secretly dug up and ran a DNA test on the remains. The results confirmed what I already knew. It wasn’t Amaya. It was a nurse. The same nurse who had gone missing. I had only mistaken her for Amaya because of the damn necklace around her neck. I chuckled to myself, laughing at the absurdity of it all. A simple mistake—because of a necklace—I had mourned a stranger, thinking I was saying goodbye to my mate. It felt like the universe was mocking me, playing some sick, twisted game. But at least it had given me

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 69

Amaya’s POV The moment he let go of me, I took my chance and ran. I didn’t look back. I didn’t even care to know who had interrupted so I could thank them later. I just ran until I was back in my hotel room. Slamming the door shut, I pressed my back against it, my chest rising and falling as I let out quick, uneven breaths, clutching the wet fabric of my nightgown. Why was he so keen on making this so much harder than it already was? I squeezed my eyes shut, pressing my palm against my forehead as if that could stop the memories from replaying. The entire purpose I had stepped out was to forget. How the hell was I supposed to do that now? I let out a shaky breath and forced myself to stand up, making my way into the bathroom and changing into a more comfortable outfit. This time, an oversized t-shirt and shorts, before stepping back into the bedroom. That’s when I noticed Ryder wasn’t on the bed. I assumed he had returned to his room, and I felt guilty knowing I was the one who

Dante’s POV Cyrus drank so much that night, and as predicted, I had to carry him back to his hotel room. I don’t know why he drank this much—it was so out of character for him—but who was I to stop him? “Where the hell have you two been?” Raven said as soon as I stepped into his suite. “I tried calling you guys, but you weren’t picking up. Even the mind link wasn’t working.” I exhaled, adjusting Cyrus’s weight on my shoulder before dumping him onto the couch. He groaned in protest but didn’t wake up. “Drinking,” I muttered, running a hand through my hair. “What?” Raven’s eyes widened. “Since when did Cyrus start drinking? What did you do to him?” “What do you mean, what did I do to him?” I said, clearly offended. “You should ask him when he wakes up.” Raven glared. She wasn’t upset that her brother got drunk. Nope. She was pissed because we ignored her. Raven hated being ignored. “Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?” she suddenly asked, catching me off guard, but I ignore

Amaya’s POV“I can’t believe that bastard. He’s got some nerve. You’ve been gone for almost a year! I thought they said he was in pain over your death. He doesn’t look like someone who’s suffering. He hasn’t changed a bit—still the same arrogant bastard,” Ryder said, looking physically pissed as he paced back and forth. After the incident, the entire dinner was ruined. I had completely lost my appetite, and Ryder even had to cancel the other plans he had for me that night. Now we were back in my hotel room, and Ryder wouldn’t stop ranting about Dante.I had changed into a more comfortable outfit as I sat on the bed, quietly watching him pace. There was a lot I wanted to say, but my mind wouldn’t stop replaying the scene over and over again.“He couldn’t even pretend to care. That’s what pisses me off the most. How did you cope with that idiot all those years?” His question was directed at me, but I just remained silent, unsure of how to respond.I mean, what was I supposed to say? The
