Amaya’s POV

“Oh, you are awake,” she said.

Suri immediately bowed her head. “Good morning, Miss Kara.”

Kara glanced at her and gave a small nod in acknowledgment before shifting her attention back to me. “How are you feeling, Amaya?”

“I didn’t know you knock.” The words came out before I could stop myself, and I noticed her smile falter for just a second before she let out a soft chuckle.

“I was just trying to be polite,” she said. “After all, you’ve been through so much. I didn’t want to startle you.”

I stared at her, waiting for her composed expression to crack, but she was good. Too good.

“Sweet of you,” I muttered and turned my attention to the food tray.

I could feel her gaze on me before it narrowed to the barely eaten meal. “You haven’t finished your breakfast?”

Why do you care? I wanted to say. Instead, I shrugged. “I’m not hungry.”

Kara sighed and shook her head, looking at me like she was disappointed. “Amaya, you need to start taking better care of yourself. You are part of

Dante’s POV “Step. Away. From her.” The words left my mouth before I could stop them, but I didn’t care. I had been watching them for a while and had managed to hold myself back while he hugged her—because of Mako, who had warned me not to do anything foolish, and also because she wasn’t hugging him back. That was good. But now, watching her wipe his tear, even Mako couldn’t hold back his jealousy. He growled in my head. Ryder froze and turned his head slightly to meet my gaze. His eyes were still glassy, filled with emotions he had no fucking business feeling. His arms were still wrapped loosely around my mate. “Mine” The word echoed in my head, but this time, it wasn’t just my thought. It was my wolf’s. For a moment, I almost smirked, thinking he was on my side, but he was quick to remind me how this was my fault—our mate was finding comfort in someone that wasn’t me. My fists tightened, and I was barely holding back. Barely. I took a step forward, and the maid beside Amaya

Amaya’s POV I slammed the door behind me, gripping my chest as I tried to calm the storm raging inside me. My breath came in uneven gasps, my heart pounding so hard I could hear it in my ears. While Ryder’s voice still echoed in my head. “I promise you, Amaya! This isn’t over! I will come back for you… I will get you out of here even if it kills me.” Fuck that bastard. Why did he have to come here? I had gotten so used to being numb, but now everything was flooding back at once. And I couldn’t handle it. I squeezed my eyes shut, pressing my back against the door to keep myself from collapsing. My knees were weak and my entire body was shaking. I really wanted to believe him. But Dante wouldn’t let me go. He would never let me go. So why did Ryder have to remind me of a situation I had come to accept? Why did he have to come here and shatter the numbness I worked so hard to build? I needed that numbness. It was the only thing keeping me from breaking apart. But n

Amaya’s POV“I didn’t come to this pack just to work as a maid, Luna. I came here to find my little brother.”I stiffened. She mentioned her brother just yesterday, but nothing about him being missing.“When I was twelve, rogues attacked my old pack,” she continued. “They burned everything down. Killed most of our people. I don’t even remember much about that night—just fire, screaming… and my little brother crying.”A lump formed in my throat, but I didn’t say anything.“He was only six years old,” she whispered. “Too young to fight, too young to understand what was happening. I tried to protect him, but then we got separated in the chaos. I never saw him again.”She pulled the bandage tighter around my hand, but I barely noticed the sting.“I searched for him for years, but I never found a trace,” she said. “Until a few months ago, when I heard rumors that some of the surviving rogues had been taken in by this pack.”My breath caught in my throat.Dante had indeed been taking in str

Amaya POV“So much for wanting to step out,” I sighed as I plopped onto my bed. Suri followed soon after, holding a tray with my breakfast and placing it by my nightstand. Then she rushed to the drawer and pulled out the first aid kit before hurrying to my side and kneeling in front of me.“Your hand, Luna,” she said, and I winced as she gently unwrapped the bandage. The wound was still tender, looking even worse than before. I was no doctor, but it looked like it was getting infected.Suri clicked her tongue and bit down on her lip. “I am going to have to clean this again,” she said, and without warning, she applied an antiseptic solution to the wound. I hissed in pain and tried to pull my hand away, but she held it firm.“I’m sorry, I know it hurts, but I have to clean it properly to prevent it from spreading,” she said, but that didn’t stop me from gritting my teeth.“You don’t have to be so rough,” I muttered, clenching my jaw as the antiseptic burned my skin.“You say that like I

Amaya POVFor the next few days that passed by, I could feel my body getting weaker and my muscles aching all over. The healer came every evening as Dante had instructed, giving me the same liquid that was supposed to help me. But none of that was working. If anything, I felt worse. Getting out of bed began to feel like a chore, and the sight of food made me throw up. At first, I thought it was stress, but now I wasn't so sure. Even Suri started looking at me differently, but I would easily brush it off. After all, that was the least of my worries. Her words from days before had been the only thing on my mind. I didn't give her an answer because I didn't know what to say, but now I couldn't stop thinking about it. Could I really leave? "I am escaping," I blurted out to Suri, who was helping me brush my hair. "What? Really?" she said, surprised. "I thought about what you said. You are right, I don't want to stay." "Oh, Luna... you don't know how happy I am to hear you

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 16

Dante’s POV For over a week, I had been occupied with so much work in the pack that I barely had time to rest an arm. All of this, I did on purpose as a way to distract myself from thinking about Amaya—her face and the way she glared as she yanked her hand away from me. I didn’t mean to hurt her. “But you did,” Mako taunted. “Shut up,” I snapped back. “It was a mistake, okay?” “Whatever you say,” he grunted. I sighed in frustration, running a hand through my hair before returning my attention to the files in front of me. We had been taking in more rogue pups than usual, and it had been challenging to integrate them into our packs—worse, finding them a stable home since the orphanage was getting overcrowded. It was already difficult scanning through each individual file, trying to stop myself from thinking about Amaya—yet here I was, also dealing with my beta sitting across from me, scrolling through his phone in complete silence. Cyrus had been here for nearly an hour now, b

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 17

Dante’s POV ~ Flashback When Cyrus and I first met, we weren’t exactly on good terms. He was the Beta’s son, a spoiled brat who thought the world revolved around him. I, on the other hand, was just a low-ranked trainee of a secret special force trying to survive. At thirteen, I had already learned that survival wasn’t a right—it was something you had to fight for. The training camp was brutal. We weren’t just taught to fight. We were taught to kill. I had my first kill at seven. I was just a child, barely strong enough to hold a weapon, but that didn’t matter. Kill or be killed. That was the only rule. By thirteen, I had already lost count of how many lives I had taken. One of our final tests was a hunt. We were sent into the forest with no weapons, forced to track and eliminate each other. Fifty of us went in. Only thirteen made it out, and I had a body count of seven. Some were strangers. Others had been my friends. But that didn’t matter. By then, I had learned

Dante POV ~ Back to present “I ran into your wife last night.” Cyrus’s words made my body stiffen. “She was in the garden,” he continued, watching me carefully. “Alone. In the middle of the damn night. Looking like she could barely stand.” A growl rumbled deep in my chest, and Cyrus raised a brow. “Did you know about that?” My jaw clenched, and my hands rolled into fists. Of course, I didn’t know. Why the hell would she be out there alone? “She said she just wanted fresh air,” he added, crossing his arms. “But honestly? She looked sick. Really sick.” Sick? “How could she still be sick? Hadn’t she been taking her medicine?” I muttered, more to myself than to Cyrus. And where the heck were the guards when she left her room? “She’s not okay. We need to go to her,” Mako growled. But I ignored him… “I can’t answer that. All I can tell you is she’s not looking good. And keeping her here is only making things worse,” Cyrus said, and I scoffed. “Why do you all keep sa

Amaya POVRyder and I sat opposite each other on the bench just outside the estate. The afternoon sun had dipped low behind the trees, casting long shadows across the grounds, but neither of us seemed in a rush to leave. We hadn’t said a word since we sat down. The silence stretched between us like an invisible wall. It had been almost half an hour, and I couldn’t take it anymore.“So…” I started, fidgeting with my fingers. “Does he know?” I asked. He gave me a strange look, and I immediately groaned. “Okay, that was stupid. Of course he knows. It’s the mate bond…”He didn’t say anything, he just stared at the ground like it had all the answers he didn’t.“Why did you keep it a secret?” I asked softly. He sighed. “What do you think? My mate is a man and…” he hesitated, swallowing hard. “He doesn’t even seem interested.”That made my chest tighten in a way I didn’t expect.“But then you asked me out,” I said, more confused now. “Why would you do that if you already knew Cyrus was your

Amaya POV “Targeted?” The word echoed in my head. I leaned forward in my seat, gripping the armrest. “By who?” “We don’t know that yet,” Alpha Beckett replied, “but based on the reports of what happened last night and statements from the others… it certainly seems that way.” I frowned. “I don’t understand.” He exhaled, then leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. “The others weren’t attacked the way you were. Briella, for instance—she said she chased down a rogue, but not once did it actually fight back. Instead, it led her in circles, then straight into a dead end where she got trapped.” “Wait… what?” My brows furrowed. “The pattern repeats,” he continued. “The others shared similar stories. Light attacks, easy escapes, nothing too serious.” I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly becoming dry. “But you…” he looked at me, “you were ambushed. Not by one. By nearly a dozen rogues. Some of them came from directions no one else had encountered. It’s almost like… they w

Amaya’s POV“What are you doing?” I mumbled, confused as Ryder’s thumb brushed against my bottom lip. Especially when he leaned in and pressed his lips on the side of his thumb. My brow furrowed and I blinked a few times.Ryder’s eyes snapped open, and he casually leaned back, clearing his throat. “Dante was looking,” he said, and my stomach dropped.“What?” My head snapped to the door. There was no one there now, but it didn’t take a genius to realize what had just happened. “You… pretended to kiss me?”“Technically, I did kiss something,” he replied, trying to make a joke out of it.“Ryder,” I said flatly, and he held his hands up.“Relax, I didn’t mean anything by it,” he said.I stared at him for a second, then repeated, “You pretended to kiss me because you saw Dante watching?”He didn’t respond right away, which annoyed me a little.I shifted on the bed and set the fruit bowl aside. “Do you realize how messed up that is?”“I was only proving a point,” he said, quieter now. “He n

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 78

Dante’s POV Amaya’s wolf was back? I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw her shift. It was the first time I had ever seen her in her wolf form, and for a moment, I genuinely thought I was dreaming. There was no way this was real. But then she growled—and not just any growl. It was deep, commanding, terrifying… and somehow beautiful. If I wasn’t an Alpha myself, I probably would’ve been on my knees. She was twice the size of a normal wolf. Her white fur shimmered like moonlight kissed it, and her presence alone was enough to make the surrounding rogues hesitate. I watched her take down two rogues in under a minute. Her moves were brutally efficient, like she had been doing this her whole life. The third rogue didn’t even try to fight, it just ran. Then she turned to me. Our eyes met as I stared at her now-glowing blue eyes, and for a moment, I forgot everything else. I was so lost I didn’t even realize the fourth rogue was still standing and was now slinking toward her.

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 77

Amaya’s POV The rogues crept closer, their growls vibrating in my ear. “Cut me down,” I whispered harshly to Dante. “Do you want me to draw more attention to us?” he hissed, his gaze shifting from wolf to wolf. He had his blade out, his body angled protectively around me. But there were four of them, and I could already smell more in the distance. Then one lunged at us. Dante met it mid-air, clashing his blade against the rogue’s jaw. Another rogue darted toward me, but Dante was already at my side, blocking the third one with his forearm. He didn’t look shaken by the blow. He growled and slammed his sword into its chest. Three rogues. He was handling three rogues. Wanting to help, I tried to reach out for my belt, praying the dagger strapped to my thigh hadn’t fallen off, but my eyes widened as I spotted the fourth rogue. It wasn’t moving. It was just standing there, staring straight at me with a grin on its lips. Like it was toying with me. Watching me dangle—helple

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 76

Amaya POV I took in a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves as I recalled everything I’d learned up till now. “In situations like this, the last thing you want to do is panic,” Ryder had told me once. “The next… is to listen.” So I listened. I focused on the silence, let the cool air fill my lungs. I gripped my sword tighter and started moving forward carefully, step by step. That’s when I heard sudden footsteps heading right in my direction. My ears twitched and my instinct kicked in. The next rule Ryder had drilled into me came rushing back. “Find a safe place to hide. Then wait. Then strike.” I darted behind a thick tree, crouched low, clutching my sword so tight my knuckles turned white. My heart was pounding in my chest, but I kept my breathing steady. Just like I was taught. Then… I saw movement. A shadow passed me, and without wasting a second, I jumped out with a yell, raising my sword—ready to strike. But I didn’t even get the chance. A hand caught my wrist mid-ai

  • My Mate, Please Let Me Go   Chapter 75

Amaya POV “You cry really loud for someone who just volunteered as tribute.” I gasped with a startled breath. I whipped my head around, tear-streaked cheeks and wide eyes, only to find Briella lounging upside down on my reading chair. One leg dangled over the backrest, a book in her hand and a lollipop in her mouth. She didn’t even look up from the book. “What the hell are you doing here?” I asked, sitting up and aggressively wiping the tears from my face with the back of my hand. “How… how long have you been sitting there?” Briella finally looked up, popping the sweet out of her mouth. “Long enough,” she said, and casually set the book aside. “So… what are you doing here?” I asked. She sat up now, swinging her legs over the side of the chair. Knowing Briella, she never showed up unless she needed something or had something to say. Briella was many things, but silent company wasn’t one of them. “It’s about the mission,” she finally said. I knew it. I crossed my arms.

Amaya POV“Because he saved my life.”I had expected a thousand excuses to justify his actions. Political reasons. Strategy. Maybe even fear. I mean, a lot of packs were indeed afraid of Dante’s wrath, so it would make a little sense if that was the case. But that—that I didn’t expect.“What?” I said in shock, unsure of how else to respond.“Over fifteen years ago,” he said, staring down at his hands like they held pieces of a past he didn’t want to relive. “Ryder fell gravely ill. The healers and doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him—he was dying slowly right in front of me. I had already lost my mate… I couldn’t lose my only son too.”His jaw clenched as he relived the memory.“My Beta back then—Harlem—recommended someone. He said there was a powerful healer who lived beyond the northern border, someone who didn’t belong to any pack but had cured impossible cases before. The problem was, he wasn’t reachable. We had to go to him.”He paused, his expression hardened, and

Amaya POV “I volunteer,” I said with no hesitation. The room suddenly went quiet. Alpha Beckett furrowed his brow, Ryder’s eyes widened, and I could feel the tension shift. “You?” Dante asked, rising halfway from his seat. “Amaya—” “I said what I said.” I cut him off calmly. “This is my pack too. And if there’s danger near our borders, I’m not sitting here twiddling my thumbs while the rest of you bleed.” Ryder stepped away from the wall and was now fully focused on me. His jaw ticked, but he didn’t say anything. Beckett exchanged a look with one of the council members, then nodded slowly. “Fine. You’ll be briefed in twenty minutes.” I nodded and turned around before anyone could protest further, ignoring the burning gaze of Dante behind me. I barely made it past the hallway before I heard footsteps behind me. “Amaya,” Ryder called, and I stopped. My lips curled into a small smile, but as I turned, I was met with a blank stare that made it falter. “What is it?” I as
