Chapter 7

Joseph's pov

In the morning, I was awakened by palpitations.

"Mate! Mate is in danger!" My wolf roared in my mind, he was very emotional.

After confirming that Isabella was not in the room, my anxiety reached its peak.

I quickly arrived at the garage, started the car, followed the bond between Mates, and raced towards Isabella's location.

Along the way, my heart was heavy. 

"What's going on? Why did Bella come here? How is she doing now? I must find her quickly!"

I parked the car on the roadside, and the bond between Mates told me that Bella was nearby. 

Just as I was in a worry, a sweet peach scent mixed with a bloody smell rushed towards me.

I followed the scent and rushed over, only to see a scene that made my eyes seem about to pop out.

Bella was lying in the arms of a middle-aged woman with injuries all over her body, while a black giant wolf was attacking them...

These werewolves were ruthless and their moves were deadly. In just one turn, I could determine their identity.

This was a group of rogues!

"How could Bella be related to rogues? It's obvious that these Rogues are trying to kill Bella!"

In a daze, there was no time to dodge, and in an instant, a burning pain came from my neck.

What surprised me was that after injuring me, they did not continue attacking but quickly evacuated.

I brought Bella and this middle-aged woman back to Green Bay...

In my bedroom...

Luke went out to see the doctor off, leaving only Bella and me in the room.

On the way back, I had already roughly figured out the situation from Ruth.

These rogues took Ruth from the place where Jasmine imprisoned her last night.

They claimed that a woman paid them to kill Bella.

Who was the mastermind? 

I would definitely find her and make her pay!

Looking at Bella lying in bed with a pale face, I clenched her hand.

Even though the wounds had been bandaged, there was still a faint smell of blood in the room.

Perhaps due to pain, Bella in bed still frowned tightly even in a coma.

I reached out to try to smooth her eyebrows, but accidentally tore my own wound and I let out a muffled groan.

I took a deep breath, looked up but met a pair of eyes. 

I was very surprised and said, "You're awake, Bella. How do you feel?"

She blinked and struggled to sit up, eagerly asking, "Ruth, where is Ruth?"

"Don't worry, she's fine. The doctor just left, and I asked Jenna to take her to rest."

Upon hearing this, Bella finally calmed down. She looked at the bandage on my neck, bit her lip, and said, "Thank you, Mr. Joseph."

"You are my mate, it's only right for me to save you. Also, as I said, just call me Joe."

I smiled at her.

She seemed even more apologetic as she lowered her head, saying, "I'm sorry, it's all because of me that you got hurt. The reason I went out alone this morning is because..."

I interrupted her explanation, "I know you were trying to save Ruth. You don't have to apologize. You're brave to face the danger alone for your important family. As you were in trouble, you didn't expect to come to me for help. It's my fault. I made you feel like I couldn't be trusted and relied on."

"I'm sorry, Joe," she lifted her head, as if gathering her courage, saying, "I'm used to solving things by myself. However, in the future, I'll try to rely on you. I'll regard you as my mate."

With that, she blushed.

Looking at such a lovely Bella, I couldn't help but hold her in my arms and kiss her lips.

During this, I accidentally tore my wound again.

A cry of surprise echoed in my ear, "Joe, you are bleeding."

"It's okay, it's just a minor injury. It'll heal soon," I continued, looking at the concern in her eyes. "Okay, okay, I'll have the doctor handle it later."

"No need to bother the doctor. I know about some medical skills. I'll help you treat your wound," she said, quickly getting up.

"Be careful, you also have injuries on your body."

Quickly, she returned with a medical kit and said, "Inside, I made the medicine powder using the purchased herbs, and the effect is slightly better than the medicine sold on the market."

The bandage on my neck was carefully removed. Because of the clotting blood, the bandage adhered to my skin and flesh on the wound. When removing the bandage, my wound inevitably was torn, and I endured the pain without making a sound.

I knew that my wound was looking very grim. I was really afraid it would scare her.

She gently sprinkled some powder on my wound. The powder was very magical. After applying it for a moment, the bleeding stopped and the pain disappeared without a trace in an instant, and I could even feel the wound healing rapidly.

Thinking of the information I had Luke investigate before, an idea poped up in my mind. Bella might be someone who could treat Katherine.

"Bella, I need your help."

"What can I do for you?"

"Help me treat someone."

"Who is it?"

"A friend. I'll take you to meet her tomorrow."

"Her?"

"Yeah."

I didn't hear Bella say anything more, but only saw her lowering her head, placing the medicine powder on the bedside, and carefully loosening the bandage on her arm.

"Allow me, Bella!" I knelt in front of her on one knee, gently removing the bandage from her arm.

These abrasions looked particularly grim on her fair skin.

"If only I had arrived earlier! I can't even protect my own mate. This kind of thing will never happen again! I will never let anyone hurt Bella again!" I silently swore in my heart!

I reprocessed and bandaged the wound on her body, hugged her in my arms, and my kiss fell on her forehead, nose, and lips, slowly moving down...

There was only our heavy breathing in the room...

When I unbuttoned her shirt, she grabbed my wrist with one hand and blushed shyly, saying, "No, Joe, your wound will fall apart."

I chuckled, "I won't do anything, honey, don't worry. I only wanna confirm if you're okay."

She blushed and turned her head away, afraid to look at me. Then she released the hand that was holding my wrist.

The scent of sweet peach and refreshing cedar intertwined and permeated the bedroom...
