Davina pov

When I woke up, I didn't know what to do at first.

Where was I? Even better question, who was I?

I blinked a few times, no, this sight was unfamiliar to me. Then I felt an indescribable pain, it burned deep inside me. I was missing something and that was my fire. It was suppressed and completely closed off from me.

I sat up quickly because the memories came flooding back. The pain almost consumed me, so I grimaced. That was pure torture and hellish torment.

Suddenly I heard someone say: "I'm sorry, but it had to be done." My eyes shot to the direction from which the voice had come. Of course, it was Amun, I immediately felt the hatred flaring up in me. I would rather be dead than his to be a mate.

Amun sat on a chair next to the bed in which I was lying. I was captivated by his eyes, which were golden. It was somehow a warm color, but also strange. These unusual werewolf eye colors were difficult to comprehend in one's mind. You had the thought that they had to be contact lenses, but they were real.

I tore myself away from his gaze and looked around the room. It was a very large room and nicely decorated.

There were three doors, the one opposite was probably the exit, the one on the right and the left, was the bathroom. Since there was no closet, I guessed that the third door was a walk-in one.

Otherwise, there was a desk with a chair, a dressing table, and a chest of drawers. The bed had two nightstands next to it, which rounded off the picture.

Everything was modern and fit together. As if the room was from a catalog. Everything was white and light wood. This was probably intended to make the room appear more homely and warmer.

There was a huge mirror on one wall and I could see myself in it. The sight was horrific. You could see the pain in my eyes. My hair stood on end and my face was pretty white. I quickly turned away because I could save myself that.

Amun said softly, "We didn't kill your family, Davina." My eyes snapped to him and I had a stone mask on. I didn't believe a word the bastard said. That could have been a lie to appease me.

Filled with hate, I asked, "Why should I believe a single word that comes out of your lying mouth, werewolf?" I briefly saw something like a hurt flash across his features, but he soon got himself under control again. The king had a neutral expression and sighed. It should be clear to him how I felt about him and that I didn't trust a werewolf at all.

"I swear it wasn't us." Amun sounded sincere, but these monsters were all good actors. I stayed quiet and just looked at him.

The pain burned and throbbed inside me, distracting me. With difficulty, I tore my eyes away from him and turned forward to the wall. I didn't want him to know how intense my torment was.

There was nothing more painful for an elemental wielder. The stronger an elemental carrier was the more the withdrawal hurt. I was very connected to my fire and loved it.

Amun snapped me out of my thoughts by saying: "You can imagine why I have to suppress your element." Sure, I was only too aware of it. The man would be stupid if he let me have my fire. After all, it was I am his enemy, arch-enemy. If I had the chance, I would kill him.

That had to be cruel when your mate loathed you so much. But that was his problem and he was allowed to deal with it.

I looked at my palms, wherever my fire radiated. When I tried, nothing happened, and a sharp pain shot through me. I doubled over but suppressed a moan. It was worth the try, but no chance.

Then Amun came to me and stretched out his hand. My eyes shot to him, he looked worried. I immediately escaped from the bed on the other side. I was afraid of him because I was practically defenseless. I had my hunter strength, but it never helped against a king.

As soon as I got out of bed, I fell over. I was weakened by the anesthesia alone. I was drained of energy and would soon go insane.

Did he realize how powerful I was?

A simple element carrier would not suffer nearly as much pain if it was suppressed. But the more powerful among us, like me, we would ultimately meet death. Roughly speaking, I should have a few days to live.

I hit the ground hard, cursing. It hadn't been a smart move to escape, but fear had made me act.

I looked at my hands on the ground and had no idea how to get up. I was at the end.

Oh, the previous thought hit me like a bolt of lightning. Without my fire, my lifespan was very short.

That was the perfect death for me.

The king would soon run out of mates. He didn't realize this one bit, so I would keep quiet so my plan would work. I had found my salvation and was soon freed from my torture and imprisonment.

When I looked up, I jumped because Amun was kneeling on the ground not far from me and my eyes immediately found his.

Amun could recognize my fear because he said: "I won't hurt you, I would never hurt you." I didn't believe a word he said and wanted to get up, but that was impossible. My legs were like pudding, so I stayed inevitably on the floor.

Amun continued gently: "Let me help you." He was about to help me, but I immediately jumped back. I snapped at him: "Don't touch me!" Amun paused and looked worried. So he feigned compassion, how pathetic was that?

"Davina, I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to help you back to bed so you can recover." Amun was happy to tell the Easter Bunny that. At least he was smart enough to realize that he shouldn't try again.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, which made me look there. Please don't let another werewolf come. The one beast near me was enough for me.

Without waiting for an answer, the door opened and a woman came in. I looked at her, but she seemed human. Her eyes gave that away. Brown was a normal color that no werewolf on this planet would have.

She lowered her head and said: "Your Highness, you have called me." Amun stood up and turned to her: "Yes, you will be my queen's helper in the future."

Helper? He probably meant guards so that I wouldn't do anything wrong. His choice of words for it was just a stupid way of saying it.

Amun looked at me briefly, but I didn't return his gaze for a second. At least he wasn't kneeling in front of me anymore. That made my situation a little more bearable.

The woman turned to me and bowed again. "It's an honor, your highness." I replied annoyed: "Call me your highness again and I'll freak out." I didn't have the strength for it, but I could still threaten it.

There was a brief look of horror, but she quickly caught herself. I added: “I’m Davina. Since my name is known anyway, I can say it." For the sake of politeness, I introduced myself.

“Nice to meet you, Davina. "I'm Gwendolyn, you can call me Gwen." I just nodded and she gave me a small smile.

Gwen came up to me and asked, "May I help you?" She seemed very warm and probably about my age. The first impression was positive, so I replied, "Please, that would be very nice." Now I also gave her a slight smile.

Gwen reached under my arms and slowly helped me up, as I said, "Thank you, Gwen."

Yes, I liked her. As bad as the current situation was, the woman was a friendly face.

Gwen lifted the blanket and said, "You look tired, you should rest." I knew I was a terrible sight and my shaking legs wouldn't allow a walk, so the bed was a great idea.

"Yes, I know. I look like shit. Not that I'm a professional, but that's probably because of the torture." With that, I reminded the human who exactly she served.

Gwen had pulled back the covers and helped me sit down so I could lie down afterward.

She looked at me confused and I spared her the question by explaining: "I'm an element carrier and it doesn't go well with us when our element is suppressed."

I lay down and pulled myself together to keep my expression under control.

"Oh." Gwen didn't say anything else and her eyes went to the back of my hand. Sure, she wanted to see my tattoo to know who she was dealing with.

I was so free and gave her the answer: "Clan Rosewood." She was still looking at my tattoo. "The leader's daughter?" I gave her a thumbs up because talking could be tiring.

I had completely forgotten about Amun, but he was brought to mind because he said: "I'll send a healer, maybe he can help." I laughed mockingly, I was only too aware that nothing could help me. "So experienced werewolf king, you should be aware that nothing can help me. No painkiller in the world can help against this blockage."

He answered firmly and seriously, "Nevertheless, I will summon one." I raised an eyebrow, but it wouldn't do any good anyway. It was completely pointless to summon a healer. Besides, it would be a problem if he was capable of recognizing what awaited me. Death would soon be knocking at the door.

So I asked, "Which healer could help you if your wolf was oppressed?" I left that and hopefully that gave him the right food for thought.

Amun left the room without saying another word and with quick steps. How annoyed he was couldn't go unnoticed by anyone. He was unhappy that I was his mate, there were already two of us.

With a sigh, I turned my attention to Gwen. "Thanks for your help, but I'd like to be alone right now." I wanted to sleep and spend the last hours or days of my life in peace. Plus, a fever would soon follow. My body would start going crazy.

It was best to sleep during waves of fever. It was the same with normal illnesses.

She smiled softly at me and nodded. "Alright, but I'll come back later. Just to bring you your food." Food was the last thing on my mind or what I felt like doing.

But since she was human, I continued to be polite and nice. "Thank you, that's very kind of you, but I need some rest, please. I can't use anything other than sleep today." She nodded again and turned toward the door. Gwen finally left.

I curled myself into a ball and tried to deal with the pain. It would be a painful death, but I was grateful for it. This is how I would escape this nightmare. It was a simple solution.

I sat on the floor and looked at the wall opposite. This encounter with Amun had been disturbing. I had to sort my thoughts again. However, this was quickly interrupted because there was a knock on the door and then it was opened. You didn't have to be psychic to know that was Gwen. She came in with a big smile and said, "Good morning, Davina." Given my current state of mind, her mood was unnerving, but I still tried to put on a friendly expression. "Good morning, Gwen."When her eyes landed on me, she looked confused and I stood up. "What are you doing on the floor?" I shrugged and explained, "I like sitting on the floor." I did, but the actual reason was different. Gwen nodded and seemed to accept this because she pointed behind her. "Breakfast is waiting for you."With a sigh, I started moving. At least I could leave the room. A big plus point was that Amun couldn't run into me under any circumstances. After all, he said he had a lot to do. There was no risk at the front.Gwen held

After breakfast, Gwen accompanied me to my room. I had used the elegant excuse that I wanted to rest. I wanted to test my latest theory. So I waited for Gwen to leave the room and focused on the small palm tree that was in the room. It was in a corner and nestled in a ceramic pot.I knelt in front of it and concentrated on it. Since I knew some of Earth's element carriers, I knew at least a few things about them. After closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and placed my hand on the thin trunk. Maybe I felt something.Yes, there it was.I felt this plant. The feeling was hard to describe, but I could feel it if I focused on it.She was fine and had no complaints. The palm tree received neither too much nor too little water. Otherwise, she was satisfied.I opened my eyes and said quietly, "Hello my friend." At least it felt like a friendship or some kind of connection. She was sending me positive energy, so that was a nice response. I had to get used to it. But through this, I understoo

His voice alone made me melt, but I pulled myself together and didn't let it show in the slightest. His expression was difficult to read. I have no idea what was going on in that head.As I approached him, Amun stood up. I didn't trust him at all, so I stopped. Who knows what he was up to?The king pulled out my chair and gave me a smile, which I didn't return. His mood seemed to have improved since our last encounter. His gesture annoyed me because it was far too polite. Like he was a gentleman, which was just a charade. No werewolf was as charming.I looked at him and asked, "Can we stop the feigned politeness?" My voice sounded cool and his smile faded. "That I wasn't feigning." He got an eye roll in response and I continued to stand where I was. When I went through what the monsters had done to me and those around me, I couldn't see any kind of intentions behind his behavior. There was another reason. No, I wouldn't let him treat me like that. He seemed to get that because Amun sa

He shocked me with that. I never expected anything like this. That was a different kind of challenge. How did he even come up with this crazy idea?Suddenly the door opened behind us and Amun thundered, "Get out!" I involuntarily flinched at the volume. You had to be practically afraid of the guy, so it would be a miracle if I had stayed calm. The door closed again, so the visitor had the same feeling and ran away.Turning to me and in a calmer voice, he asked, "So?"I was still too shocked by his idea that I should kiss him. That was crazy. He had to give me time to think about it.I would be crazy to do that. Besides, why should I? It was logical and obvious that I wasn't going along with this crap.I cleared my throat and asked in horror, “Are you stupid? Why should I kiss you?" I'm sure no one had ever spoken to him like that before, but I didn't mind formalities at the moment.A smile played on Amun's lips as he replied, "That would prove to me that you hate me, as long as you fe

Amun was sitting in the same place as yesterday and I just wanted to die. After last evening I would have preferred to avoid him for the rest of my days. Our eyes met and Amun had a cheeky grin on his face. "Good morning Davina." His expression made me angry and my expression was serious.I hated myself for yesterday's action. But I certainly wouldn't give in. I would stick with my hatred of werewolves, even though the kiss had been like fireworks. I would have liked to kiss him again immediately to feel that feeling. Those lips that were so soft and perfect on mine. And I pulled the mental emergency brake.I arrived at my seat and sat down with a simple, "Morning." I didn't want to be completely rude, which is why he received this short greeting. In my opinion, far too much.Should two people eat this? This was irrational and I had no idea which of these to choose.

"Alright, I'll do you a favor. I'll come back to this later.""I'm looking forward to it, I can't stop myself." She must have recognized the sarcasm in my words because I had made it clear.Flynn and Tyrone seemed to have continued to talk, at least the beta was saying, "As you wish, but the ball gown thing would be perfect. Maybe we can find new recruiters to replace you since you can be so mean."Oh, that was very daring. That deep, menacing growl from Tyrone made my heart stop for a moment. It was as if the world stopped for a moment. A shiver of fear ran down my spine and my eyes automatically found him.He glared at his beta, more like killing him with his eyes and he had one hand clenched tightly into a fist. As if he was preparing to harm someone. His voice mirrored his appearance as Tyrone replied, "You will look after her as if your life depended on what she does. And you will remind people that they need to be respectful of their Luna." He emphasized the word Luna, which was

I had just arrived at the front door with Flynn and then I realized something. I only had the high heels from last night.Did I seriously need to tour this area in high heels?Sure, it was doable, just uncomfortable and certainly not suitable footwear for this project. With a sigh, I turned to him and explained, "I only have yesterday's very high shoes. You'll probably have to be patient today because you're slower in those things."Flynn dismissed it with a wave of his hand and said, "No problem. We can go to a store and you can buy some suitable ones."Yes, but with what money? He probably didn't take into account that I had arrived here with hardly anything. Hopefully, Tyrone had told him that. You usually gave your best friend a story about your experiences, especially when it came to your mate.To be on the safe side, I remarked, "They didn't give me time to pack, so all my things will be sent later."Surprisingly, Flynn got a cheeky grin on his face, which made me look at him sl

The door opened and a man emerged. He had a higher rank because that's what he radiated.Werewolves could generally sense this. So I concluded that I was dealing with a beta. It was very likely that he was Tyrone's beta, at least that would be logical considering whose house I was in.It was confusing that he smiled, even more so when the words followed in a friendly tone, "Good morning Luna, nice that we got to know each other."He started moving and as he did I replied, "Good morning." I would reply that it was nice to meet him, but I still had absolutely no details."By the way, I'm Tyrone's beta."Oh well, as expected.—---------------------------"Ok, Beta from Tyrone and what's your name?" He didn't tell me that and this information would be great.Just before he got to me, I stood up to properly introduce myself. Aurore said, "I'm telling you, it's terrible. If we're too stupid to ever leave here, our first act in office is to burn this piece."Yes, we also liked to have very logical topics that were incredibly helpful if you had a ton of problems.—---------------------------------Meanwhile, I was sitting at the dining table and looking at the roll that was on the plate in front of me. It wasn't an exciting sight at all, but I wasn't capable of anything else. What concerned me most was Amanda. From Tyrone's behavior, his mom wasn't a nice person. Except it was his fault and not hers. I had to find out somehow, until then I shouldn't trust anyone.Aurore chimed in by saying, "We need to befriend someone who isn't part of this family. Someone neutral who can tell us something about the circumstances."That was my plan too, too the only question was how we should become friends. Amanda had said she wanted to show me the area, but Tyrone didn't want me near her.If I had the opportunity, I would

However, that was cut short as Aurore growled and yelled at me, "Get a hold of yourself, Aurela!" It was so loud that I could barely contain myself from wincing.Tyrone immediately got my full attention again as he ran over to my side again. Why did he do that? Why was he just looking for me?Why?!When he placed a kiss in the crook of my neck, I tensed. That was too much of a good thing, more of a bad thing. I was lucky that the dress was high-necked, so we had no skin-to-skin contact."I had to look for you for far too long." The crowning moment came when a slight growl was heard. However, I understood something at that moment. That wasn't Tyrone.No.This was his wolf who had gained the upper hand, which is why I had to deal with him.Addressing my wolf, I said, "Aurore, his wolf is your problem." You could hear in my voice how confused and completely overwhelmed I was.She mumbled, "Um, no thanks. You're doing well, I don't want to bother you any further.""Angsthase!""You're no

In the entrance hall, we took the door that was at the back. It was exactly the one Amanda had stepped out of yesterday when I met her.A corridor came into my field of vision and it was narrower than the one on the upper floor. There were also some paintings hanging here. Presumably, everything was papered with them, but these were works of art and not relatives or whoever was pictured on the others.Amanda continued to talk, but I was distracted by the surroundings so I barely noticed. That was rude, but there was a lot to see. Besides, she was in a torrent of talk and didn't want to be interrupted.Just as we reached a door and Amanda was about to open it, I heard a cold voice behind us say, "Aurela."I automatically turned around and immediately spotted Tyrone coming towards us. Joy looked completely different, but that's exactly the emotion you should expect from him.I had hoped that I wouldn't have to see him again today, but unfortunately, he was brutally murdered. I had to pu

I closed the door behind Amanda and turned to her. She walked to the middle of the room and then turned to me. It was kind of weird that she had the same eyes as Tyrone.Sure, many children had the same eye color as their parents. But it was also the same shape and this dark green was something of a rarity. At least I had never met anyone with that particular color. She had a smile on her face and asked, "How are you?" This was a very logical question that started most conversations. It was good that she took it into her own hands because I couldn't think of anything, it was all too new for that."Good thanks and you?" I managed to put on a slight smile, which I was very proud of."Also. How did you sleep?" She looked around the room, so I automatically did the same. There wasn't anything wrong with it. Except of course the color, which in my opinion was represented too often."Good, good. By the way, it's a nice room." A small part of it may be a lie, but politeness demanded this sta

If we accepted him seriously, then we were trapped. He could find us anywhere, which would make running away pointless. This would practically seal the fact that we would ultimately complete the Mate band.We had to avert all of this somehow and for that, we needed a good strategy.I was still standing in the same spot, desperately running a hand through my hair. I closed my eyes to better concentrate so nothing else could distract me.Aurore answered confidently, "We will find a solution. It can hardly be our fate that we have to submit to this man. Rejection is not an impossibility."But how should we do that?Tyrone obviously didn't want that when he was already talking about the next step. After taking a deep breath to calm myself, I asked, "And how?""You ask a good question and we'll find a good answer to that soon."At least one of us had the optimism within us. For me, that was a big miss.My wolf cleared her throat and said, "You should change into something else. We don't ha

That hit me like a slap in the face. I was separated from them and, if I was unlucky, I never saw them again. Essentially, I had lost her and was trapped in a house with a strange man who scared me.Tyrone said, “Welcome to the Darkmoon Pack.”With those final words, another wave came over me and it was powerful enough to almost bring me to my knees as it was so overwhelming. I gave everything I had to stay firmly on both feet and always looked back at him.The connection to the whole pack was palpable and I didn't miss the fact that it was much larger than my previous one. There were many members, of which I was now a member.Tyrone looked at me and said, "You're the first one who doesn't make a sound when taking the picture."I raised an unimpressed eyebrow and asked, "Why should I?""My pack is much stronger and has more than four times as many members. A recording has brought down werewolves that come from a place larger than your old one."Aurore growled and said, "My dear, you u
