Serena POV:

"Baby, see what I brought you today? Do you really like fresh flowers? I just picked them from the garden, and I'm sure you'll love them."

"You've been sleeping for so long; when will you wake up? Do you know how much I miss you?"

That was Elias's voice. Am I immersing myself in my dreams to try to forget the physical pain?

Elias talked to me about many things, and I wanted to open my eyes to see him. But my damn eyes felt like someone had glued them shut. Mixed with hope is fear that covers me; it makes me not dare to wake up.

I'm afraid that when I open my eyes, Elias's sweet voice will disappear.

I was afraid that when I opened my eyes, what I would see would be Helen's cold eyes and painful torture.

I'd rather stay here forever, letting myself sink into that little bit of false hope; at least it makes me feel better.
