Azalea had entered into the tunnel that led into the palace, in which Ayden closed the lid after she had entered inside. He then made his way back to the part which lead to the palace's premises briskly, before his curfew began.

If he had entered inside the tunnel too with Azalea, the palace guards would be sure they had not seen him come in raising a weird concern. So it was better if his maid just went into the palace ahead of him, like she had been really been inside all day.
