A year later.
August.
Marcus woke up feeling hazy. But not as haziness as a few days ago. He could be sure his rut had died down.
He opened his eyes but quickly squinted them as a sharp stingy feeling shot straight to his brain. At the same time, his head was having a bad migraine. Even when he felt a sticky sensation and a disgusting smell of whatever the hell it was, Marcus could not find the strength within himself to pick him up to clean the mess that was his.
After a good while, Marcus heaved out. He opened his eyes to the cold greyish ceiling, blinking a few times. His mind was completely blank of thought.
His wolf felt tired, too. It looked dull.
A year later.
Unlike omegas, which had their suppressant, alpha did not. So, Marcus had two choices. One was to be with Giselle; the other was to spend his rut alone.
The first choice obviously did not his cup of tea. For Giselle still had her obstacle of him touching her. It to
“Thanks for helping me tonight, Derek.”Giselle gathered her belongings while saying thank you to Derek politely. Her dinner manager stood at her office’s door, leaning on the door frame, his hands shoved in his jeans pocket. He had just come to work, and Giselle was about to went home. She said she had a date. Derek could tell who her date was. Obviously, who else besides her husband? Her husband…Derek still felt bitter at the pronoun. If he was faster than the guy, Giselle’s husband should be him now.A year ago, Derek was still confident to say he could beat her husband to win her over. Why? Because Giselle was sad.A year ago, Derek could see sadness constantly made its appearance clearly in Giselle’s eyes, and also her expression. Giselle never looked down that much. But ever since Giselle had gotten married, the joyful woman Derek once came to know had disappeared. However, things cha
Dinner with Lady Bailey was a little bit awkward. Nonetheless, you could not blame Lady Bailey since the former Luna herself was not fond of these types of gatherings ever since her husband passed away. These gatherings only brought her back sad memory of a time in her life that she could never take back.Yet, she wanted to see Marcus and Giselle. It had been a while since the two moved in together. Dorris knew there was an obstacle between the two. However, the former Luna believed in her instinct that they were best for each other.Their actions and their chemistry toward each other tonight had said louder than words. The dinner had been over. Giselle and Marcus were preparing the fruit for dessert while Dorris Bailey excused herself so the two could be comfortable around each other.Giselle was washing the strawberries when she felt herself engulfed in a warm hug. She got startled, turning her face sideways, surprised to find Marcus was leaning
Lady Bailey did not understand why her son had to be this stubborn? It got to the point where the former Luna felt frustrated herself. It made the former Luna wonder if Tina had cast a spell on Marcus? That was the only way the former Luna could think of for Marcus to be blinded by that untrustworthy omega.Dorris bit her lips, walking her way to where Giselle was. The former Luna sat on the sofa not so far from the omega. She hemmed, asking the omega, “How are you and Marcus doing?”Giselle turned to look at the former Luna. She blinked a few times, processing what the former Luna was talking about. Dorris clearly did not mean their well-being. Dorris meant their marriage life.Giselle thought to herself for a while, then beaming at the former Luna, “It’s all good.”It really was.Marcus had been good to her. Sometimes, the alpha also showed his affection toward the omega. Giselle felt the bond between their in
Bang!A horrifying sound of a gunshot pierced through the silence of the night. One of the two older alphas did not use the silencer, so the sound was pretty noticeable.Ben and Toby quickly jolted up from their hideout. The two young alphas rushed to the edge of the rooftop, so they could jump to the other building. The nearest building's rooftop was only a meter away. If the two were lucky enough, they would have made it.Bang!Another deafened piercing sound of a gunshot was heard again.Unluckily, Ben got shot in his right ankle, making it hard for him to move on his will. At this point, jumping to another building seemed impossible to them then.As the two older alphas got nearer and nearer, Toby clenched his teeth. He had no other way better than shifting. It broke the rule but was necessary at the moment.“You’re crazy!” Ben exclaimed. However, Toby had shifted completely. The young fighter was s
The council of the Bailey’s pack had an unusual meeting that day.Marcus rushed out of the home. He barely remembered to leave Giselle a note or a message. He was in a rush. It was a miracle that Marcus remembered to put on proper clothes for their meeting before heading out.His friends were in trouble. Big trouble. He hopped in his car, calling Toby. The young fighter did not pick up his phone. Marcus mentally cursed at him. The head alpha switched to Ben, but still, no one picked up.“Fuck.”Marcus muttered out while he was driving to the packhouse, full speed. The council members had already gathered, and in their designed seats before Marcus could come to the packhouse as always. Right then, their eyes were set on no other than Raiz, who had summoned this unusual meeting.Everyone was confused as to why did the alpha summon the meeting? And what did it have to do with two other members of their pack? Also
Marcus narrowed his eyes at Raiz. The head alpha knew too well where this was going.Raiz tried to blame him for ignoring his father-in-law's situation. This should make the young head-alpha reputation turn bad enough. Because what kind of son-in-law he was that even his father-in-law could not come to him for help but his uncle?“What happened with my father-in-law that even I had no idea about?” Marcus asked.“I’m dying to know, too.” Raiz countered.“They were talking about taking the head alpha position away from you!” Toby, being the hot-headed person he was, exclaimed. His accusation caused a wave of hissing sound to arise.Did Raiz really plan to do a riot? Was he crazy?Taking a head-alpha down from his position was never a joke to tell. It was the most avoided topic, especially in the Bailey’s pack.In the past, Marcus’s family had not crowned the head alpha positio
The waiting hours seemed endless. The council and Marcus granted a team of three to go and supervised those pieces of evidence to see if this was real. After almost two hours, the supervision team returned their confirmation. The evidence was true. Now, the council and the head-alpha must give their final sentence while Raiz, Toby, and Ben waiting outside. “They broke the rule, which is never must you shift in the residential area! We are not trying to harm or threaten humans! Not to mention, humans could have seen them!” One of the council members said. “Raiz shot them, too. I think this situation is fair.” Another one voiced his thinking. “I think so, too. They had got in a fight. And a head-alpha that shifted to fight with them did not make the situation any better. Without the surveillance camera, we can’t decide who had shifted first or who had ignited the attack first. Raiz’s evidence only tells us that the attack definitely happ
“Marcus? Are you okay?”Marcus heard Giselle call out for him.He pushed himself up from where he was lying, seeing the omega standing across the room from him.The omega looked like she was ready to go out but stopped mid-track to see whether Marcus was okay. All of sudden, her scent immediately calmed the young head-alpha in the fastest way he could possibly think.Marcus wanted to nod, but he tiredly shook his head instead. He was not okay. He knew he should not feel this way, but in a weird way, just the thought of pouring his heart out to Giselle made the alpha feel relief.“What is it?”Giselle discarded the belongings that she was holding in her hands onto the nearby armchair while she was walking toward Marcus. Her eyebrows furrowed. She sounded concerned. In her head, a thought that the alpha had known about Tina’s disappearing event flashed through the omega's mind. But over

Derek met Giselle again a week later. The girl was queuing at the coffee shop that Derek was frequent. The two were pretty surprised to see each other there.“You were Derek, from a week ago on the street, right?” Giselle asked him first, with a hint of unsure.Derek beamed at her. He nodded, “Glad you remember me.”“Oh, no. Not that kind of remember,” Giselle shook her head. The manager chuckled, “I know. So, erm- would you mind having a cup of coffee with me?” Derek asked. And surprisingly, after a bit of consideration, Giselle said yes. But it was not rocket science. The girl was curious about Derek and that was all. From what had happened three days earlier, this man seemed to know her and that bothered Giselle. How could she forget if she ever met the guy? He seemed to be a nice guy, Giselle would remember if she had met him before. But then, again, everything about her past was nothing but a blurry mess to her. He might be someone she knew back then. Moving here was such a great
“Giselle-” Marcus said, trembling. He could not believe in his eyes anymore. It was Giselle by flesh and bones! She was not Marcus’s hallucination. She was alive!“Giselle!”The head alpha happily pulled Giselle in his arms, hugging her tightly as if he ever let go, then Giselle would disappear in only a blink of an eye.If that ever happened, Marcus did not know how he could hold himself together anymore. Now that she was here, he would not let her go ever again. His wolf was howling, feeling happy that it could finally bathe in its mate’s comfort scent once again. This was ecstasy.“Wow, easy! Who are you?” Giselle frowned, pushing Marcus away harshly. The girl looked at Marcus with only irritation and confusion.“Giselle-” Marcus found himself dumbfounded. He could not catch on with the situation anymore.Giselle frowned, eyeing Marcus head to toe. The girl then huffed, she sounded so distant, “Do you know me?” Marcus was too stunned to speak. His lips quivered but no words could
A year later.“It’s Toby’s wedding ceremony today, Gigi,” Marcus said, “He’s getting married to your human friend. They both seemed very happy.”Marcus shoved his hands into his pockets, his eyes darting away as he let out a heavy breath. It had been a year then. A year of longing and torment with Marcus.Time had passed but he could never forget the day Giselle fell off the cliff, and how useless Marcus felt over a year ago watching her disappear right in front of his eyes. Though that day had been gone for good, still, Marcus could recall the sadness and such a helpless feeling of a year ago like it had just happened yesterday.Marcus still lived, but he rather d*ead. The head alpha did not seem to be himself anymore but rather an alpha wolf struggling and tormenting himself. He overworked himself to the point of being almost exhausted. He rarely ate or drank anything. His sleeping schedule was a mess, too. He was deprived of sleep. Because every time he closed his eyes, he could no
When Tim and Ben got to the lighthouse, they got no sight of Marcus at all.Raiz’s lackeys’ bodies lay on the ground, no longer intact. Then there was also Raiz, who lay dead behind Marcus’s back. His cause of death might be a b*loody hole in front of his chest, or it could be because of the silver knife piercing through his forehead. Either way, Raiz was dead. But Marcus? They did not know about his whereabouts. The head alpha had been impatience, so he came here by himself first. And for what had happened, Tim and Ben could say Marcus handled the situation well. Yet, where was he then?Did anything unfortunate happen to him?The two looked at each other, frowning.Unexpectedly, they heard Marcus yelling, “Giselle!”The two flinched, rushing to where their head alpha’s calling rang up. And they saw him. There he was, diving under, frantically searching and calling Giselle’s name. But there was no sight of her.“Marcus!”“Alpha!”The two called out for their head alpha, but they got n
Without any hesitation, and not even a blink of an eye, Raiz’s blade c*ut through Giselle’s throat like it was nothing. Not only Marcus was too stunned to react, but only Giselle. The cut was quick. So quick that Giselle did not even feel the sharp edge of the knife slashing through. Only when the damage had been done, as the stingy feeling rushed in with the burning sensation that flooded her neurons, did Giselle realize what Raiz had done.Giselle looked down and widened her eyes in disbelief as she saw b*lood quickly staining her front dress. Her wolf immediately got into action, spreading its healing ability to keep Giselle from dying. The Stephern’s omega was lucky because it was not a cut caused by a silver knife. Otherwise, she would be dead by now.“Stop right where you are!” Raiz raised his voice, and he caught Giselle’s attention. And then, Giselle heard a raging roar. The roar was so scary that it even terrified Giselle’s inner wolf.Looking up, the Stephern’s omega saw Mar
“Aren’t you happy now that your beloved uncle calls, Marcus?” Raiz said smudgily.“Where’s she?” Marcus got straight to the point.“My oh my, aren’t you worried about her?” Raiz chuckled, “And here I thought you two are separated. How silly am I! I almost got played by your little one, nephew.”Marcus stayed silent for a quick second before replying, “Let Tina go!”His words hit hard.“Pardon?” Raiz raised an eyebrow as he glanced at Giselle. The Stephern’s omega quickly turned away, avoiding his gaze. Tightening her fists, Giselle bit on her lips hard enough that she tasted blood.Even though she had a guest that Marcus would call Tina’s name out in the very first place, Giselle still felt somewhat hurt. However, she must endure this feeling. As she said, Marcus and Giselle were histories. Apparently, Marcus would think of Tina right away. Also, it was kind of humiliating for Raiz that he had chosen the wrong one.Marcus probably had not heard about Giselle’s missing yet. Be that as
"What do you mean Giselle is gone?" Marcus sounded disbelief. How could she be gone? But f*uck it, he had no mind to think about it anymore. He had to get to the hospital first!.The special department was in a hastiness.Securities and guards were seen at every corner of the hospital and its parking lot, desperately searching for the Stephern’s omega, who had gone missing. Every little detail counted. Therefore, they were doing their best searching for her.Marcus barged into Giselle’s ward, where Fynn had already been there. The doctor leaned on the window pane that Giselle kept opened and facing the door. He looked troubled. The head alpha looked around the whole room, frantic.“She has been gone when I came here,” Fynn sighed, “We have no idea where is she. We have been searching throughout the hospital but could not seem to find her anywhere.”“Did she go out alone?” Marcus nervously asked, “Have you checked the surveillance footage yet?”Much as he wanted to jump right to his f
"Let me go!"Marcus was startled awake to find he was no longer in Giselle's dreadfully cold and cramped hospital room. He was at his house now, asleep on the couch since God knows when. The head alpha sighed, and slumped back against his couch.Resting his hand on his forehead, Marcus stared at the ceiling, remembering what had happened this afternoon.Giselle had told Marcus to let her go. She still did not have any particular feelings, however, Marcus could hear a little bit of inner pleading in her voice.Marcus knew it would be best if he let Giselle leave the mess that was him. But at the same time, he could not. Just as he thought about letting Giselle leave, Marcus could not bear it.He was too blind beforehand. He let his anger cloud his mind and made a terrible mistake.***“Let go of me!”Brenna and Tina shouted out loud. The two were kidnapped and brought to the forest within the Ashes pack territory. In such a place, no one could interrupt Lukas took out his anger on them
