Ember's POV

We were left with almost three people who didn't want to wait to suffer the same fate as their leaders

The mystery man stared at me and I didn't say a word but we understood each other. Without saying anything much, we jumped towards them and started chasing them.

My heart was thumping hard but I didn't stop because I just needed to make sure that we won the war on this end. If we were being delayed by these people that meant that there was a lot of fighting going on in the main axis.

The rogues split and we came to a halt. Two went one way and the other one the second way. This could be a trap.

"Can you shoot?"

I nodded. Even though I had never done it myself I knew that it couldn't be that hard. Also, I wasn't just going to allow them to escape simply because I couldn't shoot or was afraid. " Yhat place leads to the river that's why you need a gun."

I didn't want to start asking questions as to why he knew every nook and cranny of the Pack. I just hoped that he wasn

Ember's POVThere was a need for me to be told twice before jumping in front of them. How did they manage to capture them and lead them here without anyone's knowledge or even trying to alert me? He chuckled. "you can see that you have no choice but to do my bidding then and only then can we finally get to do what we should have done in the first place. Well, I don't blame you at all. If you know that you are just going to waste your time, it won't take me to destroy the people you love the most in your life. I hear that the Alpha loves children so you'll produce new ones for him." His words didn't even make any sense because why was he acting as if it didn't take a lot to make a child? "You don't have to speak condescendingly about my husband. You can either allow us to have a conversation or you forget it. Why the unnecessary talk?" The man gritted his teeth for a minute. "I've stated my case since the moment I came here but what were you all doing? Acting like you could outsmar

Ember's POVI could hear a pin drop. There was a need for me to find my way out of this place but from the way he was talking, I knew that it was true. My brain was just suddenly processing his words. Why did he truly want me to get married to another person? That was the last thing that I would have imagined that my father would do but I guess it was what it was. "What do you mean by that?" He shrugged softly. "That's exactly what I thought too. The problem now is since you have this many people in your life, I want to also benefit from it. It's either you make sure that at least a certain group of people enjoy from you or you make a way so that we can all remember to say a prayer for you." Now, he wasn't making sense at all. "What do you mean by saying a prayer?""We kill you so that no one has to enjoy your goodness. It's really that simple." He answered, leaving me stunned. He was just speaking about death so casually and making me wonder what life even meant to him."I can see

Ember's POVI moved back when a hand clamped over my mouth, my first instinct was to make sure that I drove a harsh kick into the back of his knees so that the assailant would let me go but for the most part my body had become numb.I threw all my weight in that direction and relished the groan that escaped his mouth. "Hold your horses, lady. I'm the one who saved you earlier. Are you trying to kill me?" He replied and I smiled, before turning around to see the face of the mystery man. He was beautiful. That was the first thought that struck my mind."What are you doing here? I thought you were trying to keep an eye on my kids?" I whispered before turning to look around and seeing that a man was dragging them away. "Let me go and attack that man." "You're injured, Trent got this."Well, I'd be damned if I left all the work to Trent. That man was fighting those mutts like his life depended on it. "I can't stay here and watch them drag my kids away." "Let my guard take you back to

Author's POV Ruel watched as she tried to make sense of what just happened right now but wasn't able to find the words. "I mean, someone brought me here right now, and the kids, didn't you see them?" Ember cocked her head. "No, I didn't, anyway, it's good to see you. We were able to drive away the rogues and Alpha Trent is busy fighting them in the mountains. He went in search of you." Ember was still speechless because everything was like a dream before her eyes. She was with a man a few minutes ago. "Are you okay, ma'am?" Sonia inquired again when she saw that her mistress looked puzzled about something. There was worry in her eyes and she felt a bit worried for her too. "I'll just take the kids in while you come in." She offered and Ember handed over the kids to her absentmindedly. Ember knows that a lot of things have gone wrong. That mystery man had disappeared in the blink of an eye and no one saw him. This was unnerving so she trudged gently ignoring the gazes

Ember's POVNow, I was saddled with the responsibility of getting to know myself afresh. It was just as I expected only that I wasn't ready to be in that mix and in that stupid situation but all the same I wanted to get out of this box. I needed to understand what Ruel meant. It was just two weeks later and there was no explanation that seemed to suffice. Trent and I were on good terms but we weren't really talking. I didn't know what was wrong with him and I was having a turmoil that was threatening to consume me."Did you see what happened at the market yesterday?" I inquired from Sonia who was busy arranging the yarns. "No, not really... You should know that I don't really have the time for that ma'am, but I overheard a few maids saying that it was all Elise's fault."I stopped writing, my pen hovering over the book. "Was Elise present at the market?" "Yes, she was. I think it was... I don't really remember all that they said because I was going to send the goods through the fer

Author's POVThe room suddenly went silent after she had spoken the words. Ellie stared at him squarely. Those were her demands and she was going to get it no matter what. Xander chuckled at her audacity. Only a few people were brazen enough to spew trash and still look confident after doing that. "I see that you might have done something that made you think that your request would be granted but I'd love to inform you that it won't work. You will not be getting any celebratory dinner for the kids and at the same time, I won't be making any godforsaken speech about him being my heir." 'Especially not when I have two heirs before this one.' He added inwardly. His wolf gave a wolfish snort at the lady's brazenness. It was his human who was too slow to speak and tell her what he wanted. This was utter rubbish and he couldn't wait to knock this lady out of the way. Ellie sighed. She knew that he was going to suddenly be prudent and see no reason in doing that but she had a shocking sur

Ember's POVI was walking down the hallway only to find out that there was light coming from Trent's room. Why was he not in his office as promised? I turned toward his room and heard soft music coming from within. Well, this was a first and I never thought that this was possible. If there was a new thing that I wanted to discover, it was the fact that my husband was a music connoisseur. This was lovely to find I knocked calmly and waited for his permission to enter. "Hey, come in." He muttered and I didn't wait to be told twice before rushing in. I was smiling when I took a seat. "I didn't know that you were awake. Why are you up at this time? It's quite late?" He responded and I shook my head. He was lovely and I was feeling very bored tonight His eyes bored into mine and I smiled. "Hey... Why are you gazing into my eyes like we just met?" "I know right? Xander didn't think that anything was wrong with him wanting to have an alone time with his lovely wife so he smiled at her. Ember smiled at him. "I'm sorry, I was just kidding." She told him.His eyes crinkled with mirth. "I know, right. I don't even care about what you want to say but I believe that you will enjoy today's session. It promises to be mind-blowing." He bragged. He said.Dennis went mute for a minute before throwing a punch at him but his brother was faster and had predicted the move so he ducked at the last minute."Get away from the fridge, both of you!" Ember yelled and they jumped apart. She saw that they were mad at each other which made her worried. "You too are supposed to have each other's backs not be a thorn in each other's flesh." She whispered. She was trying so much to raise children who were devoid of hate and malice. The Alpha position was an edgy one which she hoped that they didn't fight each other for but coexisted perfectly together. "Why do you feel the need to show your powers when you are supposed to be each other's best friends?" She demanded The

Ember's POV. A pang of headache hit me as I felt my eyes open, my legs shaking beneath my gown. Everywhere seemed black, but the sun rays through the barred hole on the door shone brightly. I strove to stand up, taking what felt like an eternity to raise a leg. Something that felt like shaped iron clashing against each other rang in my ear, and I felt compelled to know what was happening outside. I sprinted toward where the backdoor was, my legs shaking after every step, my heart racing faster with every step I took. The sound of crashing iron and steel and the rise of cries grew closer and thicker with every step I took. I had no idea what was happening outside, all I sought was to escape from this dungeon. Most of the guards were distracted by what was happening outside, none were looking my way. I guess it was lucky, and a chance for me to escape. I walked toward the exit door, but just as I reached there, the roar of a wicked smile halted me in my spot, and I was force

Xander's POV. I was seated in my palace when an emissary holding a sealed letter was brought before me by one of my pack guards. As the emissary approached, I could sense a mix of curiosity and unease from my pack members "Greetings, Alpha Xander. I bring a message from Trent's pack." He fretted going down by reclining his head onto his knees. I took the letter, breaking the seal. My eyes scanned the parchment, and my gut twisted with every word. Trent was declaring war on us. I called a gathering with my elders. We sat in a circle, the letter passed among us. "This is madness," One of them growled. "Trent knows we won't back down." "We need to prepare for battle," Another suggested, her voice steady. "Gather our strongest warriors, Xander. We'll show Trent the strength of our pack." "I'll start scouting for allies. We can't face Trent's pack alone." I looked at my elders, determination burning within me. "We'll defend our pack" The elders nodded in unison, and I k

  • My Luna Hates Me: Winning Back His Luna's Heart   Back to the past

Ember's POV I walked down the hallway slowly, this part of the house seemed to be more empty than the path I walked through once I reached the end of the house. I frowned wondering what wild goose chase Ellie sent me on. Xander wasn't here. Why would she send me here for no reason had she completely lost it? angry I turned to leave when I spotted Trent standing there with a wicked smile on his face, holding a sword. My stomach dropped knowing there was no way this was going to end well. “Trent! What are you doing here?” He smirked, the glint of the sword reflecting in the fading light. “Hello, Ember. Fancy meeting you here.” I took a step back, feeling panic rising. “Where’s Xander? He’s supposed to be here, did you do something to him?” Trent chuckled, his voice dripping with malice. “Oh, Xander isn’t coming. Ellie sent you her for me. I’m the one you’re dealing with.” Realization hit me like a punch to the gut. Ellie must have played me, setting me up for Trent. My instinc

  • My Luna Hates Me: Winning Back His Luna's Heart   Underestimated

Author's POV. Xander walked hurriedly towards the port. He had booked a safe passage through the tunnel for Ember. It had not been cheap, but he knew it was going to be worth it since he was sure she would appreciate his efforts in helping her get her complete freedom. He arrived at the spot they had both agreed that they would meet. The port was mostly deserted at this time of the day so it was going to be relatively safe and easy for her to wall around without being found by people who work for Trent. He stood around for the next ten minutes, stifling the anxiety that was quickly growing in his chest. After ten minutes, he started to call her name as he looked around the area. It could have been possible that she had missed her way and was staying at another spot instead of the one they had initially agreed to meet. She was supposed to have been here. They had agreed that they would meet at that spot and he had been exactly on time. If there had been any delay or anything t

Then I knew that she would be able to go ahead to focus on getting the answer. I chuckled softly and looked at her. "Did you want us to respect you, Ellie? You should accord yourself some respect." I told her and she looked at me. "Who the hell are you?!" She challenged me. Her eyes flared at me and I smiled at her. "Are you my husband's concubine?" She asked and I held myself from saying just like you were. That would be a big slap on her face which I didn't really mind though. I liked the fact that she was really struggling to make it work. I didn't care about her and all that she was doing. All I wanted to know is that there would be a need for us to just stay for a while and rest before finally talking about our past life. In just a few years she would be controlling the whole arena but if I stood up rig

I was a bit skeptical in the beginning but after a while I finally realized that there might be something missing which I wasn't taking into cognizance. Xander reclined into the seat as he stared at me but I maintained his glare. He wasn't going to unnerve me. So what if he didn't sleep with her? All of this was still his fault. If he had not taken those steps when he finished getting her pregnant, then maybe I wouldn't resent him this much. "You didn't defend me when I needed you the most, I don't think you remember that incident, or do you?" I asked him and he shook his head. "I don't think I do.
