Mu Yu’s entire body was in an alarmed mode, and as she turned her face away, she indignantly grabbed his arm, hard. Without waiting for her to start cursing, his lips had already quickly reached her ear and he whispered, “Grandpa is just opposite us.”

Once the voice outside the door stopped, Qin Jinhuan immediately let go of Mu Yu and quickly went to close the door.

Mu Yu rushed embarrassingly to the side of the bed, pulling out her scalpel as she tidied her clothes. She gritted her teeth as she glared at the approaching Qin Jinhuan.

Currently, Qin Jinhuan’s expression was extremely unnatural. He stopped two meters away from her, saying quietly, “Sorry.”

“To hell with your apology!” Mu Yu said angrily, pointing the scalpel toward him as she scolded. “You shameless hooligan! Even your grandpa is disgusted by your actions, and you still dare to use him as an excuse for taking advantage of me?”

The corner of Qin Jinhuan’s mouth twitched and he was silent for a while.

But Mu Yu immediately saw through his expression and was enraged. “Mister Qin, the one not being courteous and disobeying the contract now is you! I have the right to request to dissolve the agreement between us. Go bring the contract here!”

“Dissolve the agreement?!” Qin Jinhuan stared at her for a couple of seconds before suddenly raising an eyebrow. “How did I break the rules? Haven’t we agreed that we could be appropriately affectionate when the time called for it?”

“You call this ‘appropriate affection’？Do you even have morals?”

“Weren’t you the one who let me do it?”

“Huh? When did I allow you to?”

“When you touched my lower back.”

Thinking about her intoxicated self before, Mu Yu’s face instantly felt hot. She then countered, “I just touched your lower back. I didn’t ask you to touch my front!”

“Have you never learned the phrase, ‘Back, and front chest’? You don’t understand it?” Seeing her confused face, Qin Jinhuan shook his head in disdain. “That tells me you were dozing off in elementary school language classes. Never mind, I’ll teach you today. A human body has both ‘yin’ and ‘yang’. The upper body is the ‘yang’ and the lower body is the ‘yin’. The outer body is ‘yang’ and the inner body is ‘yin’. The back is ‘yang’ and the front is ‘yin’. 'Back, front chest' indicates the ‘back’ of a man and the ‘front chest’ of a woman. They are counterparts to each other, meaning the ‘back’ of a man is equivalent to the ‘front chest’ of a woman. That means when you touched my back, I naturally took it that I could touch your front.” He sighed. “In fact, I got the worse end of the stick since you used both hands to hold onto my back for so long, and I barely brushed your chest with one hand for a second.”

Mu Yu was already getting dizzy with Qin Jinhuan’s explanations, but once she heard his last sentence, she got riled up and yelled, “Nonsense! That’s an absurd theory!”

“An absurd theory? Then why don’t you tell me, what was so ‘absurd’ about that?”

Mu Yu’s angry scolding was muffled by the bathroom door. Her anger was not satisfied, and she saw his pillow lying on the bed. She rushed over and picked it up to throw it on the floor furiously, even stomping on it a few times.

Kicking Qin Jinhuan’s pillow to the bathroom door, Mu Yu finally felt more soothed, and took out her phone to check the message.

‘Mu Yu, are you there?’

It was Jiang Wenwen.

Knowing what it was that she wanted to know about, Mu Yu glanced at the bathroom before answering Jiang Wenwen.

As expected, after Jiang Wenwen had asked about her parents, she started asking a bunch of questions about her and Qin Jinhuan’s relationship.

She resumed from what she had already told Jiang Wenwen regarding the situation between her and Qin Jinhuan, and roughly skipped past the further progress they had made. She believed Jiang Wenwen had already seen all the gossip online and knew that she was not concerned with the process, but rather to make sure that Mu Yu was really together with Qin Jinhuan.

Sure enough, after a definite answer, Jiang Wenwen started to show relief. ‘I just got off the internet for a few days and didn’t imagine I would miss out on so much good news. All because of that darned school festival.’

‘It’s not really good news,’ was what Mu Yu wanted to say, but after some thought she stopped it and chose to stay silent instead.

‘Mu Yu, you must have saved the banking industry in your past life. If not, how would you have met a quality man such as Master Qin? That’s enviable.’

This comment caused Mu Yu’s hair to stand on end. She really wanted to say, ‘Why don’t we exchange lives?’ but she knew saying this would not change the situation she was in, and would also cause her good friend to roll her eyes, so she chose not to say anything at all.

Jiang Wenwen finished gushing and excitedly changed the topic again. ‘Mu Yu, there must be plenty of great men by Young Master Qin’s side. Help a sister out and get me into their good books.’

Mu Yu immediately replied, ‘It’s not nice being a wife to a rich household.’

‘I need to have done it in order to know if it’s good or not. I am just saying, we have been good friends for many years. You’re already in paradise, enjoying life. Remember to pull your good friends along too, help a sister leave this hell earlier.’

From behind the screen, Mu Yu sighed.

Enjoying life? There was only suffering that she knew of.

If she had a choice, she would want to go back to being a simple forensic doctor. Working on time and going home to enjoy her time with her parents; solving cases and meeting friends in her free time, living life the free and easy way. How nice.

She didn’t even know when she could escape the jaws of the Qin beast, and return to the life she was supposed to have.

‘Mu Yu? Why aren’t you replying? Are you busy?”

‘Yeah, I have some things to take care of at home. Let’s talk again another day.’ After handling Jiang Wenwen, Mu Yu then messaged her mother. She just told her that she had settled things with Qin Jinhuan and for her mother not to worry.

Right at that moment, the bathroom door opened. Seeing Qin Jinhuan look dismally at his thrown pillow, Mu Yu cheered up quite a lot. She put down her phone and picked up her pyjamas, walked toward the bathroom and purposely kicked away the pillow that was blocking her way. Without sparing Qin Jinhuan a second glance, she lifted her head and walked into the bathroom, satisfied.

Facing the mirror as she took off her clothes preparing to shower, she saw the left side of her chest start to redden. She instinctively used her arms to cover her breasts as if the cruel claw of the Qin beast came to attack her chest again, and couldn’t help but curse at Qin Jinhuan in her head.

This guy, did he get possessed again today?

From that morning, since his grandpa ‘investigated’ their room, Qin Jinhuan had obviously started to distance himself from her whenever they were alone unless it was necessary. If not, he barely even said anything to her. When she felt the situation changing she was quite happy since, at least, she didn’t need to keep being cautious around him and be alert of him taking advantage of her. At first, she thought things would continue that way until the end of their contract, but who knew he would go against it today.

After scrutinizing herself in the mirror for quite awhile, she shook her head.

The girl looking at her in the mirror was rather simple. There was nothing especially outstanding or attractive about her, and Qin Jinhuan kept calling her ‘silly woman’, meaning that no matter on the inside or on the outside, she didn’t have any advantage. If so, then why?

She was afraid that there was only one reason for it: this Qin beast was a shameless, woman-hungry old man. Those few days, he started typing away at his computer the moment he got home, probably because of company issues, so he was not in a mood to tease her. Today, his old symptoms just came back.

No, not just old symptoms; it was the cancer of lust returning.

Mu Yu turned on the shower and let hot water spray onto the places Qin Jinhuan had touched.

Despite everything, that Qin beast really was pretending to be what he was not. His body was more well-built than normal, and a big company syndicate behind him like a bright halo, it was obvious that God was playing favourites.

She couldn’t help but admit that she did enjoy his loving romantic side that he displayed when they were in the public eye. Even though she knew it was but a show put on for others to see, she couldn’t stop herself from falling for it. Still, she did not fall completely. At most, she would just lose herself for a little while, since her mind was still very clear.

When she was done with showering, she came out of the bathroom, and saw Qin Jinhuan busy working at the computer again. Mu Yu was too lazy to spare him another look, and after checking for her scalpel in the bedside drawer, she reclined slightly on the bed and took out her notebook to check the notes she had been making the past few days. As she did so, she thought of the information she had gotten from Jiang Wenwen.

After investigating for a long time yet not finding any useful clues, she unwillingly shoved her notebook back into her bag.

The more clueless she got, the further she wanted to dig.

Sadly, Qin Jinhuan wasn’t loosening his reins and she didn’t dare to go to Happy Garden after work again without telling.

Even though Sun Meilan was rather contemptuous, it was still a life that was lost. Furthermore, she was a worker from his company. How could he be so nonchalant about it?

Well, she was just a forensic doctor after all. Solving cases was not her strong point or something within her job description, and she definitely did not need to care so much. She decided to just let things be.

“I will go pick you up from work tomorrow at 2pm,” Qin Jinhuan said suddenly.

Mu Yu immediately disagreed. “Why do I have to go home so early?”

“It’s Zheyu’s birthday tomorrow, we are celebrating for him at night.”

“Since you’re celebrating at night, why do I need to get off work at 2 in the afternoon?”

Qin Jinhuan turned back and swept his gaze across the clothes she had placed at the foot of the bed, ready to be worn tomorrow. “There’s a party tomorrow.”

“Sure. But I don’t know how to dress up.” Mu Yu shrugged, not making much of it.

If he thinks I can’t dress up nicely enough for the party, he can always change his female companion.

Qin Jinhuan glanced at her again, but didn’t say anything.

Mu Yu knew he had given up, but for some reason her heart felt a little uncomfortable. She pouted and unhappily burrowed into the blanket.

If he really ended up changing partners for the party, then could she use that to rhetorically bury him as his legal wife? Or maybe she could argue with him?

Anyhow, she wouldn’t let him live it down.

Dawn started to bloom.

Mu Yu, who had been tossing and turning for half of the night, was currently in sweet slumber.

Her phone suddenly started to ring.

Mu Yu awakened to the sound, and seeing that it was Jiang Wenwen calling, she picked up and lazily answered, “Hey.”

“Mu Yu, good news! Something really good just happened!”
