Juno couldn't sleep, he tossed and turned in bed, tormented by thoughts he knew he shouldn't have. Why her? Why couldn't he get that insignificant maid out of his head?
He had beautiful women at his feet, famous models, so why the hell couldn't he get Gia out of his mind? That was the only thing he needed, that woman was like a walking curse.
He put his head down on the pillow, trying to erase her image from his mind, the way she moved her hands when she spoke, how she tilted her head when a topic seemed interesting to her, and how she bit her lower lip when... ahhh, his mind continued to torment him.
"Damn!" He growled annoyed, then got out of bed, he needed a drink.
She headed towards the kitchen, but stopped short when she heard voices. Gia was sitting on the island, with a cup of tea in her hands, talking to Lupe the cook.
“The truth is that I'm dying to go to the beach. I've lived in Miami for 18 years and I've never had time to go swimming at the beach.”
“I can't believe it, girl, we're surrounded by water, but that's life, sometimes you don't have time to do what you want. Imagine, Mr. Juno has several beach houses. I hope that one day you'll work in one and in your free time you can take advantage of the opportunity to swim in the sea.”
Juno remained hidden in the shadows, listening, watching Gia who was dressed in simple cotton pajamas, nothing like the lace lingerie her lovers wore.
She shook her head to recover her thoughts. She hated feeling this way about her. An idea began to take shape, an idea she couldn't resist.
The next day, she came down early to have breakfast with Grandma.
“Grandma, I’m organizing a party this weekend at the beach house, I thought maybe Gia would want to come, so we can make up.”
“Excuse me.” Gia almost choked on her coffee upon hearing this.
“Well, after all, you are Grandma’s assistant, we’re off on the wrong foot.” She said, keeping her tone casual.
“What are you up to, Juno?” Grandma looked at her, her eyes narrowed in suspicion.
“Nothing, Grandma, I just realized that my behavior hasn’t been the best, I want to be nice to apologize, isn’t that how you say I should be?”
“Mrs. Herminia, I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Gia didn’t believe a single word Juno said.
“Nonsense! Juno is right, this way she can apologize, and you need to distract yourself, and it will be a good opportunity for you to socialize with her circle of friends.”
“Exactly, you'll see that it will be educational.” Juno felt satisfied, she had managed to fool grandma.
The weekend came too soon, Gia looked at herself in the mirror, she felt insecure, grandma had bought her a swimsuit, a small turquoise blue bikini, she felt exposed with that small garment.”
“You look beautiful, you have a wonderful body, go and have fun, dear, and if my grandson misbehaves, just call me.”
The beach house was far from grandma's mansion, it was a modern designer mansion on the beach, when Gia arrived, the party had already started, models in tiny bikinis walked around the place, men who looked like they were taken from some magazine, laughed by the pool.
“Look who arrived! The annoying voice of Odalis Sterling, the same one that had tripped Gia on the yacht, came over the music. “The maid who is now playing at being a lady of society.”
The comment caused laughter from the other guests, Gia did her best to contain herself and not jump on the dyed blonde.
“I'm an assistant, which is different, and thank you for the wonderful welcome, although I really expected more class from a model of your caliber,” she said, not wanting to be left behind.
Odalis came closer, “Listen carefully, fifth-rate country girl, I don't know what you're up to with Juno, but he's out of your league.”
“I'm not up to anything with Mr. Greco, nor am I interested, I'm here as a guest, just like you.”
“Just like me? Ha, ha, ha, darling, look at yourself, and look at me, we're not even close to being equal, don't be confused,”
Juno didn't miss a detail, she watched the scene from the bar, while drinking a whiskey, she was supposed to be enjoying Gia's humiliation, but a strange discomfort didn't allow it.
Odalis finally gave up on bothering Gia and returned to her friends. Gia approached a lounge chair at the edge of the pool, took off her dress to be left in just a bikini. Juno almost spilled her drink, but the damn assistant was full of curves.
“Wow, wow.” Frederic, one of Juno’s oldest friends, whistled. “Who is that beauty?”
“She’s nobody.” Juno growled, “She’s just my grandmother’s assistant.” She said and then looked away.
Frederic wasn’t the only one who noticed Gia’s beauty. Several of the guests began to circle around her like flies. Gia didn’t seem to notice them, she answered sharply when they tried to talk to her. Odalis and her friends were furious, because the attention was on the assistant.
“Oops!” One of the models exclaimed as she passed Gia who was sitting at the edge of the pool. “How clumsy I am!” She falsely apologized after spilling her drink on her head.
“Don’t worry, friend, she must be used to it, she was serving drinks not long ago.”
Gia tried to contain herself, she wouldn’t give them the pleasure of being pointed out for making a fuss.
The humiliations continued throughout the afternoon, she had to continue to endure biting comments, poorly concealed giggles, and accidents with drinks that even threw them in her face.
At dusk, Gia tried to call a taxi to leave, but discovered that her bag, her clothes, everything had disappeared.
“Oh, did you lose something?” Odalis asked with false concern when she saw her searching. “What a pity, and we are so far from the city.”
“I’m leaving.” Gia answered, turning to Juno. “Could you lend me a phone?”
“I ran out of battery, and all the drivers are busy.” She answered, avoiding her gaze. “You will have to spend the night here, there are plenty of rooms.”
Gia had no choice, she went up the stairs, defeated, entered the first empty room she found, immediately took a bath, taking off her wet bikini and putting on a bathrobe she found in the closet, she was distracted, she did not hear the door when it opened.
“Wow, look, nothing but a pleasant surprise,” Frederic's voice startled her, he was visibly drunk, Gia was uncomfortable to notice that he was looking at her.
“Get out of here, go away!” Gia stepped back, uncomfortable.
“Come on, don't be shy, pretty, I've seen how you look at Juno, but he's busy with Odalis, I can keep you company.” He said as he approached her staggering.
“No! Get away!” Gia tried to go around him to run away, but he grabbed her by the waist.
“Let me go!” She screamed as she tried to defend herself.
In the next room, Juno was kissing Odalis, heard noises, and decided to see what was going on.
"What's wrong?" Odalis complained.
But Juno was already leaving, heading to the next room, when she opened the door, she froze at what she was seeing, Gia with her robe half open, and Frederic was kissing her.
She felt immense fury at that scene, she approached Frederic, taking him by the neck and slamming him against the wall with force.
“What the hell are you doing?” She asked as she slammed her fist against Frederic’s jaw.
“Hey, calm down! We’re just having fun.” He stammered. “She’s just a bitch who…”
Another blow interrupted him, Juno continued hitting him, until Tiago, who had just arrived at the party, managed to calm him down.
“Juni! What are you doing? Is he your friend!” said Odalis, who at that moment approached the door.
Juno turned to Gia, the poor girl was sheltered in a corner, trembling.
“What the hell were you doing here alone with him? Is that what you wanted? Seducing my friends?” He shouted, furious.
“What? He came in here without permission! He tried to…!
“Shut up! You’re just like everyone else, no, you know, you’re worse, at least they’re honest about what they want.”
“You’re a monster.” Gía shouted, her face transformed by rage and pain. “A cruel and miserable monster.”
She ran out of the room, Tiago offered her his phone so she could call and come get her, she called her grandmother, who immediately sent her driver to pick her up.
When she arrived at the mansion, her grandmother was waiting for her in the living room, just by seeing her, Herminia realized that something terrible had happened.
“My girl!” She hugged her, Gía broke down sobbing, as she told her everything.
The next morning, Juno woke up with a terrible hangover, Odalis was by his side, he had a feeling of guilt that he couldn't shake, a couple of hours later, when he arrived at his grandmother's mansion, Herminia was waiting for him.
“Good morning, grandma…”
Herminia didn't let him finish the sentence, she slapped him hard across the face.
Juno couldn't believe it, Grandma had never dared to hit him, the culprit was that assistant who filled his head with ideas against him.“You are a disgrace! Your grandfather would be disappointed with your behavior, you are no longer a child Juno, you are a man, a grown man.”Juno put her hand to her cheek, she could see a terrible fury in Grandma's eyes."Grandma, I...""Silence! I don't want to hear your excuses, this time you have crossed the line, a line that you should never have crossed.” Herminia turned around, leaving him alone. The next few days became hell for Gia, Juno stalked her through the halls, taking advantage of any opportunity she found her alone to torment her.In the afternoon, Grandma sent her to the library to organize her correspondence, Juno took advantage of the fact that the door was open.“Well, just look, I find the whore in the library, looking for some rich man to seduce?” She asked, dripping with venom.“Don’t you have anything better to do than bother
Time seemed to stop as Juno's lips remained pressed against Gia's, holding her tightly by the waist, the photographers did not miss the opportunity to capture the moment.“Juno Greco! Let her go immediately!” Grandma's voice could be heard behind them.Juno let go of Gia, until that moment she reacted, what the hell had she done?“You have completely lost your mind! How dare you do such a thing? You have put on a show.”The guests murmured as they did not miss a detail, Dorian approached them, furious, he tried to hit Juno, but Grandma stopped him.“I...no.” Juno blinked repeatedly, trying to assimilate what she had done.“You nothing!” Grandma said furiously. “Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize to you for such a show, the party is over.”“Grandma, please don't be so hard on Juno, she drank too much, she didn't do it consciously.” Tiago approached trying to justify his friend.”“Are you perhaps her accomplice in this? Because my grandson knows perfectly well what he has done, he has be
Herminia and Gia were in the study, Grandma stared at her.“Gia, darling, I've been thinking a lot about your future.” Gia put aside the envelopes of correspondence she was organizing.“About my future? I thought it was already decided, I'm your assistant.”“You're much more than that, look at this.” She said taking a couple of brochures out of her bag.Gia took the brochures, looked at them with curiosity, and was surprised to see the logo of Saint Claire University, one of the most prestigious in the country.“Grandma, this is...” Herminia interrupted her before she finished her sentence.“Don't even think about saying that you can't accept it, I can already imagine what you're thinking, that I've already done a lot for you, and that it's too much, blah, blah, blah.”“But that university is so expensive.”“So what? What good would it do me to have so much money if I can't spend it on things that are actually worth it? Besides, your ex-family will have a fit when they find out.” She
The next day, Juno arrived at the mansion. She had decided to introduce her fiancée to her grandmother. Upon arriving, Odalis got out of the sports car as if she were the owner of the place, with an extremely arrogant attitude. Her tight dress and excessive makeup seemed more appropriate for a photo shoot than for a family visit. She entered the mansion, swaying on Juno's arm, she looked around every corner of the place. There were some things she didn't like. When she was the owner of that house, she would change many things to modernize it. The decoration seemed old, very old, totally obsolete.“Dear, grandmother! What a wonderful mansion! Although, to be honest, those curtains need an urgent change.” She exclaimed in an exaggeratedly sweet tone as soon as the grandmother received them in the room. The grandmother raised an eyebrow, turned to look at Juno, he approached to greet her, completely ignoring Odalis' behavior.“Welcome, Odalis, it's a pleasure, I can finally meet you.” Th
Dorian began to visit the Greco mansion frequently. The soldier was very handsome, his black hair made the intense color of his green eyes stand out.He looked for any excuse to spend time with Gia. Grandma Herminia had noticed her nephew's interest and decided to encourage him.“Gia, I see that you and Dorian get along perfectly. He asked if you would agree to go out with him. He is a good boy, he is polite and charming.” Grandma took advantage of the fact that they were having tea on the terrace.Gia put aside the book she was reading, surprised by Grandma's suggestion.“Grandma, I don't think it's a good idea. I'm focused on my studies and I'm not looking for a relationship right now.” Herminia smiled.“Daughter, a dinner is not a lifelong commitment. It will just be a nice evening. What can you lose?”“My peace of mind, perhaps.” Gia joked. “But it's okay. I'll accept, just because you ask.” She sighed as she accepted. That night, Dorian arrived on time, dressed elegantly in a tai
Dorian and Gía's friendship grew every day, the girl had found in him someone who seemed to understand her perfectly, at first she didn't trust him, because no one had genuinely cared for her before.Life was beginning to show her another side, one she didn't know, she had started attending university to continue her studies, she had passed the entrance exam with the highest grades. On her first day of school, Dorian surprised her, when she left, he was waiting for her in front of the house in his black BMW.“Good morning, brainiac, ready for your first day?” She asked with a smile.“Dorian! You didn't have to come.” She answered, although her smile revealed that she was pleased that he came for her.“Uhmmm, and missing the look on your classmates' faces when they see you get out of my car, no way.” She joked. When they arrived at the university, Gia thanked and said goodbye to Dorian, unfortunately for her, Alina was near the entrance with her group of friends, her jaw almost hit the
Dorian took Gia by the arm, quickly leading her to the car, ignoring Alina."Don't pay attention to them," he whispered. "They're just jealous.""I know, but sometimes it's hard..." Gia replied as he helped her into the car.Alina watched the scene from the entrance, her nails digging into the palms of her hands."This is too much!" she screamed as the car drove away. "How can Dorian prefer a maid like Gia?""Alina, please, people are watching." One of her friends said, seeing the tantrum she was having."Look! Don't you see what just happened? One of the most sought-after men in the city prefers that... that...""She's not a maid anymore, Alina, she's the Greco heiress now..." Another girl said."I don't give a damn what she is! Just a few months ago she was serving drinks on a yacht, and now she's giving herself the luxury of wooing Dorian?""Actually, it seems that it's Dorian who's after her..." Everyone could see that. The look Alina gave the girl was one of hatred."Are you taki
Odalis stepped forward to greet Grandma Herminia."Dear Grandma, we appreciate you honoring us with your presence," Odalis said, deliberately ignoring Gia.Grandma Herminia knew perfectly well how to recognize a smile as false as that."Well here we are, dear, either way, I have to show support for my grandson."Her eyes scanned the room, stopping at the excessive decoration."Interesting choice of decoration."Odalis, taking it as a compliment, responded with a big smile."Thank you, Grandma, I chose everything personally."Grandma couldn't contain a mocking smile."You certainly didn't skimp on extravagance."Gia, who until then had remained silent, had to bite her lip to contain a laugh, Odalis's face changed instantly, her smile freezing into a tense grimace."Well, darling, we'll take our place," the grandmother announced, moving away from Odalis and still leading Gia by the arm. When they were far enough away, Odalis could not contain her frustration."Damn old woman!" she curse
Dorian was nervous, pacing the hallway as Gia was wheeled into the delivery room. "Do you want to come with her?" a nurse asked kindly. "I've... never been to a birth.""It shows," the nurse smiled. "But she needs it."Dorian nodded, he had faced life or death situations on his missions, and kept his cool under enemy fire, but this was completely different. "Just tell me what to do." "Put this on, then you have to apply disinfectant." The nurse handed him a gown and a surgical cap.As he dressed, Dorian thought of Lucrezia, she should be there, not him. They shouldn't have tricked her like that, but it was the only way to keep Juno away, he had to keep thinking that this child was not his son.The two cousins were very different from each other, he always trying to do the right thing, dedicated to his missions. Juno, was a disaster in personal matters but a genius in business.A scream from Gia brought him out of his thoughts."Are you ready?" the nurse asked."Not really.""No
The doctor saw John sweat as soon as he told him that Mathis was with Marizza.“Is Mathis with her?” He asked as if he hadn't heard what the doctor had said.“Mr. Dupont came as soon as you left to get the money.”“Did he say anything to you about...?” John paled.“No, I told him, but I need more money.”“More? I already gave him five thousand!”“It's not enough, almost everyone here knows Gia, that girl came to see her mother all the time.” The doctor smiled maliciously.“Here you go, but I don't want anyone to find out.” John pulled out a wad of cash.“Relax, no one will say anything, although I must say you are a coward.” The doctor counted the money.“What did you say?” John frowned."To deceive a man like that, to hide his real daughter from him, that's cowardly.""You don't know anything about the situation.""I know enough, but as long as you pay, your secret is safe." The doctor laughed.John stayed in the office, constantly wiping his sweat as he waited for Mathis to leave, t
After the bad time in Miami, now in Texas, Dorian and Gía continued with the decoration of the baby's bedroom. Dorian wanted to take advantage of his days off."Are you okay?" Dorian noticed that Gía was pale while they painted the room."Just a little dizzy, since the encounter with Juno I haven't felt well." Gía leaned against the wall."You should rest." He suggested worriedly."I can't, I have to go to daycare, the kids must be waiting for me.""About that, Sarah called while you were sleeping." Dorian put the roller aside, he knew that what he would say would affect her."What's wrong?" He asked without having any idea."I'm sorry, Gía, you've been fired, they say you lied about your condition.""But I didn't lie, I just didn't mention it.""I'm sorry, I know how much you wanted that job.""The kids, I got so attached to them." Gia started crying.Meanwhile, in Miami, John walked into a pawn shop."How much for these jewels?" he put Regina's last few pieces of jewelry on the coun
John was a man with a quick and agile mind, Mathis Dupont was the man they needed to get out of the misery they were in, so he decided to call his daughter to come closer."Alina! Come here for a moment, there's someone I want to introduce you to!"Alina walked up to them, seeing the elegant visitor up close, her eyes sparkled with interest as she scanned him with her gaze, from the clothes and the expensive watch he was wearing, it was obvious that he had money, and he was also very attractive despite being her father's age."Hello, who's our guest, dad?" She greeted in a honeyed voice, thinking that he was some foreign investor who would help her father."Mr. Mathis Dupont, he's... an old acquaintance of the family." John answered, starting the plan he had put together for her convenience.Alina approached, extending her hand."Nice to meet you." She said, throwing a suggestive look.Mathis briefly took her hand, feeling uncomfortable with the way the girl looked at him."Excuse me
Upon hearing that, Juno felt really furious, his eyes fixed on Gia's belly, he felt a strong sensation inside his chest due to the rage he was feeling.“Wow, I see you haven't wasted any time! You've betrayed me with my own cousin!” Juno's voice trembled, turning almost into a hiss. The people around them began to discreetly stop, soon they had already formed a circle around them, some even taking out their phones to record the scandalous scene in front of them.“You're making a fuss.” Gia said, embarrassed, seeing that the people's attention was focused on them.“Shut up! It took you longer to lose my son than to get into bed with him.” He roared, the loud sound of his voice causing several people to jump.“Don't talk to her like that!” Dorian stood between them, adopting a protective stance.“Are you defending her? They are traitors! My wife and my own cousin.” The whispers and murmurs around them increased.“Ex-wife, you lost that right when you decided to treat her like a servant.
At the Smith's house, Regina anxiously awaited her daughter's return. John had returned early after hearing about the scandal. Not only would they be singled out for being bankrupt, but now for that embarrassing event as well. "I told you it was a bad idea! But you never listen to me!" He shouted, Regina turned to look at him furiously. "Shut up! Everything would have been fine if that bitch Odalis hadn't shown up." Regina looked at the photos and comments on social media on her phone. The door opened, and Alina walked in looking like a mess, with disheveled hair, torn clothes, and scratch marks on her neck. "Your brilliant plan failed! Odalis showed up!" She shouted furiously at her mother. "What was Odalis doing there?" Regina didn't seem to care about her daughter's bad condition. "What do I know! But she attacked me like a crazy woman!" She replied, covering her breasts with a blanket that someone on the street had given her."This is all your fault! Using our daughter like
At the Smith family home, Regina looked at all the bills that had piled up on the table, the debts were increasing day by day, and the credit cards were at their limit.“I can't stand this situation any longer, we need money urgently.” She said to John, throwing the bills on the floor.“And what do you want me to do? I've looked for new investors, but as soon as I get close, they run away, they don't answer my calls.“You don't need investors, you need to find Gia, that ungrateful woman has the obligation to help us solve our problems.” Regina smiled maliciously.“Find her? Not even Greco with all his money could do it.” They were aware of everything that was happening.“That man is the one who has all the resources to help us out of the misery we are in.”“What are you planning, Regina?” He stared at her while raising an eyebrow.“Alina! “Come here right now!” She called, ignoring her husband's question.Alina came down in her pajamas, yawning, her hair tangled, she still had pillow
A couple of months later, Gia saw a van park in front of her door, she nervously locked the door, thinking it could be Juno. She was surprised to see that the person getting out was Dorrian, she hadn't said anything to him, hoping to give him a nice surprise, Gia opened the door and went out to greet him."Dorian!" She greeted him smiling.Dorian looked at her for a moment, her belly was noticeably bigger than the last time he saw her."Look at you! You're radiant." He smiled hugging her carefully."I'm huge, but the doctor says everything is going perfectly." She laughed inviting him in.The house was cozy, Gia had decorated it by putting up some photographs, some of her with the children in daycare."How's work going?" asked Dorian, sitting on the sofa."The children are wonderful, they make me feel happy." He answered caressing her belly."What have they told you about your pregnancy?""No one knows I'm pregnant, I wear loose clothing at work and well, I'll have to ask for a leave
Gia stood looking at the two-story house that Dorian had prepared for her to live in. It was in a quiet neighborhood in Austin, Texas. It wasn't luxurious, but she thought it was charming, with its front porch and a small garden."The keys are under the mat, all the utilities work, I took the liberty of deciding for you by filling the refrigerator." Dorian had told her. When she entered, she noticed that the furniture was simple but comfortable, the kitchen was equipped, and in the dining room she found an envelope with documents and money."For emergencies, use it carefully. I'll visit you as soon as I can." A note from Dorian said.Gia sat on the couch, placing her hands on her belly. Her baby was still growing inside, when Herminia and Juno thought she had lost it."We'll be fine. Now it's just the two of us." He said tenderly. The next day, she went out to look for work, she came to a ‘Little Steps’ daycare center where there was a sign indicating that they needed staff.“Do you h
