CHAPTER 8 Obedient Sky

Rita didn’t like the idea of Sky being a young sleep with Steve a young man alone that too with no relation. This will bring shame on Edwards’ family and Sky, a young mature woman’s character will be maligned.

Rita’s reasons are reasonable, and nobody can deny her, but Steve is different.

Steve is the young master of the Edwards family and rebellious by nature since he was young. He can do whatever he wants and nobody can oppose him.

Rita has to be wary while talking to him. She spoke to Steve and made him understand the pro and cons she is measuring in the heart.

“Young master Steve, Sky is a young girl and pregnant as well. She must be married. If her family or husband will come to know about her living and spending nights with a young man alone in his room with no relation, then it will give terrible impact on her character.”

“Though nothing is ambiguous between the two people, who can explain the truth to slanderous society. This news can ruin her entire life, and the reason will be the Edwards family. Even it will ruin Edwards family’s name.”

“And, if one day she will regain her normal sense and come to know about this matter, wouldn't she feel like cheated, or we took advantage of her mentally abnormal condition?"

“A pure girl doesn’t like all this; wouldn’t she despise us?”

Last line Rita deliberately emphasizes to make Steve agree.

“Yes, aunty Rita you are correct. She is in my mansion, my responsibility. I will be wary for these things from now on.” Steve can’t imagine one day his innocent beauty will despise him. 

Steve has no other choice but to agree that Rita is absolutely correct, after all, she is an experienced woman. Even my mom would use to take her advice when they were alive.

Sky was happy after seeing Rita after few days. Pure-hearted Sky doesn’t need any big reason to get happy, she is happy with every single small occasion. Return of Rita is one of those.

When Rita asked her to sleep with her, she nods with no protest and went to her room with Rita beside her.

 It wasn’t the end of the issue. Late-night Sky woke up, missing Steve beside her, and couldn’t able to sleep without him coaxing her.

Sky stood up and disturbing nobody walked towards Steve’s chamber and knocked on the door.

Steve wasn’t in deep slumber. He stood up and opened the door to receive the surprise. Sly was standing in front of the door at a late hour.

 "Veve and Sky both can't be able to sleep without Stee beside them." Sky said.

In few matters, she expressed herself.

Steve got now she is habitual of him by her side while sleeping. He felt immense happiness with the thought that she can't be able to sleep without him. She is missing him.

Though Steve like it to the bottom of the heart, still tried to make her understand she should sleep with her Anne Reet.

Sky didn’t buy his words, and Steve had to agree with her tearful eyes. He can bear anything but can't see tears in her eyes.

He knows Rita is conservative-minded and doesn’t like this, but he doesn’t care.

He is the master of the mansion and his life, nobody can control him.

The next day, Steve talk to Rita about this matter and talked strictly about his decision.

“Aunty Rita, I respect your view, but on the matter of Sky, I will not listen to anybody. I don't care what people think. My concern is only about Sky and her comfort. If she likes to sleep in my room, she will sleep with me. No matter what will happen next.” Steve said.

“You are the in-charge of this mansion. Make sure nobody should gossip about this matter. I will tolerate nobody will peek in my life.”

“Nobody is allowed to talk about it even inside the mansion, let alone outside.”

Aunty Rita has no choice but to obey her master’s order and concern about his reputation.

She warned all servants and nurse Feria strictly that nobody should discuss any single thing or news of this house neither inside the mansion nor outside, otherwise the consequence will be worse. She has a tight command of servants.

Being dependent on Rita, Steve was not bothered about this matter.

A few days later 

Steve was driving the car at its fastest speed in order to reach home before dinner time

Today he has an important meeting with foreign clients which made him late. He has fears that Sky would be definitely upset if would not reach home by 6 pm. 

He can’t afford her gloomy face and teary eyes, which hurts him the most.

After parking the car in the mansion’s parking lot, Steve rushed inside the mansion with the thought that the crying and nagging sound of Sky will welcome him.

To be his surprise mansion was in pin-drop silence. The out of the blue silence feared him to his wits.

"Aunty Rita, aunty Rita,” Steve yells with an unknown fear.

Rita has shown up from the kitchen. “Young master Steve, do you need me to help you with something?" Rita asked.

“Where is Sky?"

Steve was confused with the thought, ‘where is Sky?’ Based on her routine, at this hour, either she should be in the living room waiting for him or should be in the kitchen with Rita and any other servants.

“She is upstairs, maybe in your chamber”

Rita’s answer made Steve surprise.

“Didn't she cried or asked for me?"

“No, neither she cried nor she asked about you. She is an understanding and obedient girl. Some moments before I asked her if she is missing you? She said that you told her in the morning that you will be late today so that not miss you, no crying, and not bother anybody. Rita said.

 She answers with a pleasant smile and made him amused once again.

He entered his room and saw her sitting on the bed with her Veve clutching in arms and watching Tom and Jerry cartoon show. She was as usual giggling in her melodious, soothing voice, but her eyes were silent.

Steve realized she is an obedient girl. Although she was missing him but didn’t bother anybody only because he instructs her not to do so and be a good girl. She obeys his words.

“Sky," Steve called her name to drag her attention.

Without turning towards him, her eyes shine with happiness.

"Stee, are you back?” Sky ran towards him and hugged him with enthusiasm. 

“See I didn't borth to anyone, ask Anne Reet.” Sky pronounced borth to bother in her lisp language.

 “Sky and Veve both are good girls." Sky said.

Steve laugh, ‘don’t know why she always resembles this soft toy Veve as a girl and drags her in every matter.’ Steve couldn’t help but think.

"Good, Ok Sky do one thing help aunty Rita in serving dishes for dinner I am coming in few minutes after getting change," Steve said. She nods like an obedient kid and walked out of his room.

‘Sometimes I really wonder why this innocent girl is in a dire condition? A good, understanding, obedient girl from a wonderful family, doesn’t deserve an awful abnormal life.’

‘But where the hell her family is? Whenever I think about her family, it makes me more agitated. Are they even alive or not? If nobody in the family, didn’t she have any friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues, acquaintances? Why nobody came forward to identify her?’

‘None of my informer get even a single piece of information about her, not even from other cities. Even police officer Jack Miller failed miserably.’ 

‘Sometimes I feel bad for her and her child.

‘Although I do not support my idea, for Sky’s sake, one day I asked Dr. Margret to abort her baby.’

Personally, I do not support this inhuman act, but according to Sky’s mental condition she can't even take care of herself how will she manage post-pregnancy with the child.’

‘I recommendation the abortion, but the doctor denied it. Her trimester has already completed. At this stage, abortion could be risky for Sky’s life. What’s more, I have no relation with Sky, abortion couldn’t be finalized without her or her family member's concern.’

‘Her family nowhere to be found, and she is not in the state to make a decision, that’s why I left with no option other than search her actual identity and acquaintance.’

‘I hope she gets her normal sense back before the child could be born so that she can take care of the baby by herself.’ Steve was drowned in thought.

“I can do" Sky’s scream zoomed him out of his thoughts.

He hurried his pace downstairs towards the dining hall and saw her screaming. Or better to say fighting from Rita.
