Chapter 21 Meeting the Parents-In-Laws

“Give me your phone!” Lin Wan, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, suddenly ordered her husband.

“It’s in my bag. Get it yourself. What do you want to do with my phone?”

"I want to check what you and He Xiaoyu usually talk about."

"Tsk, feel free to look through my phone as much as you like!" Li Mu said disdainfully. "There is nothing between us, so I have nothing to fear."

Lin Wan started to look through her husband’s phone. After a while, she suddenly snapped at him, “Pull over now!”

“What’s the matter?”

“I asked you to pull over!” Lin Wan shouted angrily.

Li Mu quickly stopped the car at the side of the road. Before the car came to a complete stop, Lin Wan hurriedly got out of the car and walked back while crying.

"What the f**k!" Li Mu cursed. He immediately stalled the car and got out to chase after Lin Wan. Grabbing hold of her hand, he asked, "What's wrong? What are you angry about?"

"Let go of me!" Lin Wan shook his hand off and continued to walk forward. There were already curious pedestrians on the side of the road stopping to watch them.

"We are not at home now. What are you mad about?"

Saying that, Li Mu picked up his wife and carried her back to the car. After closing the car door, he asked in an extremely puzzled manner, "Why did you get angry all of a sudden?"

Lin Wan wiped her tears and said with the mobile phone in her hand, "Why did you block me?”

He was doomed. He had forgotten all about it. Li Mu knew that if he didn't handle this matter well, he would completely offend his wife.

Li Mu grinned upon hearing that. He Xiaoyu will definitely contact him today. If she found out that her name had been removed from his contact list, it would inevitably cause another trouble. That woman had a really big temper as well.

Lin Wan still felt angry even after deleting He Xiaoyu’s contact, so she continued to look through her husband’s phone. She even found out all the evidence he had saved in his phone.

Li Mu drove into the Renaissance Hotel. After parking the car, the two headed toward the hotel lobby.

After all, he was going to meet Lin Wan's parents. However, he married their daughter first even before meeting them. No matter what, they would definitely pick on him.

“Mrs. Hong, have dad and mom got out of bed?”

Before Mrs. Hong could answer, the middle-aged woman answered, “They have gotten up after receiving your call. They are waiting for you in the room. Quickly go up now!"

Lin Wan hummed assent, held Li Mu's arm and said to the middle-aged woman and Mrs. Hong, “Let me formally introduce you all to each other. This is my husband, Li Mu!"

Then she turned to Li Mu and said, "This is my fifth aunt, and that is Mrs. Hong. You guys have met each other before."

"Hello fifth aunt. Hello Mrs. Hong!" Li Mu greeted them politely. The two women obviously didn't seem to like him very much. The fifth aunt only reluctantly nodded her head while Mrs. Hong simply ignored him.

Lin Wan frowned upon seeing that. She was very dissatisfied with their attitudes but didn’t bother to say anything. Grabbing Li Mu, she headed straight to the elevator while the two women followed behind her.

The elevator stopped at the 12th floor. The fifth aunt and Mrs. Hong got off the elevator first, and led them straight to room 1225.

Someone opened the door from the inside after they knocked on it.

Li Mu felt extremely awkward when he saw that person. Lin Kun, the man who had been beaten up badly by him, was staring at him with an indignant face at this moment.

“Where are my parents?” Lin Wan asked.

"Both of them are waiting for you inside the room. Lin Wan, your dad asked Li Mu to go inside alone. He would like to talk to him in private. You can go to another room to rest first..."

“No!” Lin Wan immediately refused. “If there is anything, say it in front of both of us. Otherwise, don’t say it.”

Lin Kun revealed an awkward expression upon hearing Lin Wan’s words. Just when he was about to persuade her again, a dignified voice came from inside of the room, “Lin Kun, let them come in!”

Lin Kun got out of the way and opened the door wide. Then, Lin Wan held Li Mu's hand and walked into the room together.

This was a luxurious suite consisting of a living room and several bedrooms. Inside the living room, there were three people. Two of them were sitting and the other one was standing.

The two people sitting were around fifty years old. They looked graceful and elegant, with an extraordinary temperament. Looking at how close they sat to each other on the sofa, it seemed that they must be husband and wife.

There was another slightly younger middle-aged man standing behind them, looking at them with a solemn expression.

Even without his wife's introduction, Li Mu had already guessed their identities. The one standing should be Lin Wan's fifth uncle, and the two sitting should be her parents.

For a moment, Li Mu was extremely nervous and didn’t know what to say. He was standing in the room with a stiff expression on his face.

Lin Wan released her grip on her husband's hand and generously introduced each other, "Dad, Mom, fifth uncle, this is my husband, Li Mu. Honey, they are my parents, and that is my fifth uncle!"

"Dad, Mom, fifth uncle!" Li Mu bowed deeply to the three elders.

"Don't call us that way!" Lin Wan's father said coldly, "Mr. Li, please know where you stand. You must be clear that we won’t acknowledge you as our son-in-law.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly became tense.

Lin Wan said in a displeased tone, “Dad, this is my husband. We’re already married. Whether you acknowledge him or not, it is not going to change this fact. Is it necessary for you to still say like this now?”

“Lin Wan, are you going to hurt our hearts like that?” Lin Wan’s mother said with a choked voice, “We raised you. Is this how you are going to repay us?”

“I won’t forget that you two brought me up, but that shouldn’t be a reason for you to interfere in my marriage. I’m your daughter, not your pet!” Lin Wan said stubbornly.

“You insolent child!” Lin Wan’s father immediately stood up. Pointing at Lin Wan, he scolded, “You are an unfilial daughter. Are you trying to rebel against your parents now?”

“Alright, alright. You guys are fighting again as soon as you all meet. We are at a hotel now, and there are still other guests around. Please keep your voices down. Don’t make a fool of yourselves in front of the outsiders!” the fifth aunt said in a persuasive tone.

Lin Kun walked over and helped Lin Wan’s father to sit down. Then, he squinted his eyes at Lin Wan and said, “Sister Wan, just apologize to your parents. You guys are family. Don’t quarrel with each other.”

Li Mu couldn’t continue to listen to his words anymore. For some reason, he really hated Lin Kun. He always had a feeling that Lin Kun had an ulterior motive. Upon hearing his words, he instantly couldn’t hold himself back anymore.

Just when he was about to retort, Lin Wan stopped him and said to everyone with a serious face, “I don’t think I have done anything wrong. I have the right to pursue my own happiness, and no one can deprive me of my right to this!

“Have we deprived you of your right to pursue happiness?” Lin Wan’s mother questioned her, “We just want you to marry someone who comes from an equal social status. Aren’t we doing this for your own good?”

Lin Wan turned to Li Mu and said, “Mr. Li, I’ll repeat myself. Lin Wan’s mother and I will not acknowledge this marriage. We hope that you can leave Lin Wan. We can give you a sum of money as compensation.”

Upon hearing these words, Li Mu took a deep breath, and felt relaxed. Then, he asked with a chuckle, “How much can you give me?”

Upon hearing that, all of Lin Wan’s family members cast a contemptuous look at Li Mu. Lin Wan pulled her husband’s sleeve and whispered, “What nonsense are you talking about?”

Li Mu held her hand, motioning her to stay calm.

Lin Wan’s parents didn’t directly answer his question. The fifth uncle, who was standing behind the sofa, replied disdainfully, “If you are willing to leave Li Wan on your own, I can give you a million dollar!”

Li Mu laughed, patted his wife’s hand and said teasingly, “Did you hear that? To them, you are only worth a million dollars!”

“Li Mu, you b*st*rd!” Lin Kun bellowed.

“There is no place for you to speak here. Who the hell do you think you are? This is a matter between Lin Wan and me. It’s not something a b*st*rd like you can intervene in.” Li Mu retorted unceremoniously.

“You must be tired of living!” Lin Kun was so furious that he was about to dash over.

“Lin Kun, you are getting a little too much!” Lin Wan said coldly.

Lin Kun immediately stopped. He seemed to be very afraid of Lin Wan and retreated indignantly.
