Chapter Four

Lily:

"Adrian..." I screamed as I stared at the wolf that was desperate to get me and tear me apart, he reached his hand to get me, and his paws reached for me before he could grab me, Adrian came from behind and grabbed the wolf throwing him off the door, as I heard them rolled on the floor.

I pulled the door and ran into the woods, as fear overwhelmed me, my tears were falling uncontrollably, as It seemed my nightmare was back. That terrifying nightmare that I couldn't forget in a hurry, that nightmare that doesn't just remind me of that rogue's attack and one that has left me motherless. The fight back then was fierce, and I was scared they were going to kill me, and Mother was there all the time protecting me, she protected me with her life, even when I asked her to save herself she didn't want to shift and leave her child alone, she was here, even when those Rogues had hurt her, she waited till brother came and take me, only to find out that mother had passed away because of me.

I stopped at the foot of a tree, folding my legs to my chest as I cried unruly, I was scared and the pain and fear in my heart, weren't helping me, I had no one to tell me everything would be fine, I bite my lower lips as they were trembling too much, I don't know what is wrong with me, I am always getting into trouble because I don't listen to instructions, I didn't listen to mother back then, when she asked that I remain in my room and the same thing happened today when father asked that I should not leave my room without security, I still did not follow instructions.

I heard paws approaching me, and my heart thudded more, as I thought they had found me and this was going to be the end of me, my body felt numb as this might be the end of me, I moved my eyes to see the wolf that was coming towards me, it was big and looking so dangerous, blood was dripping down his claws and fangs, fear overwhelmed me, and my eyes voluntarily shut as everything went blurry.

 

Adrian's POV

Panicked hit me as I walked back to the car and I found out that one of those bloody hybrid wolves was trying to grab her from the car, I doubled my step, letting my wolf out, and hit the wolf that was about to drag her and we rolled on the floor as I fight the rogue wolf, I know there was no going back, it's either I kill him or the other way round. Blaze was mad, and so was I.

I couldn't even understand myself, how could I be fighting senselessly for a girl that was not mine, first I claimed her, and shooed those vampires away from her when father became the Lord of those vampires while he was still the beta to alpha Rupert, I was supposed to be the next in line in this territory, but I didn't want that, I want to be beside my cousin and I told him that I wasn't going to meddle in his business and for all these years, I didn't meddle in his business and today that I was visiting father, I found those hybrid wolf stalking their claimed on a girl I know nothing about, it wasn't my thing to stop those vampires when they stalk their claimed on females but this one caught my fancy, I wasn't going to turn a blind eye to her pain, something in me, was saying, I should protect her.

When the last wolf fell to the ground, lifeless, I rushed back to the car, only to see that the driver's seat door was open, I shut my eyes as fear gripped me, wondering what must have happened to her, did another rogue, came and take her, is she still alive? Goddess me, I would have just teleported her to the address she show me but the truth is, I wanted to breathe the same air with her longer, I didn't know if I could see her again, and the only way I could stay longer with her, is to go by road, I have no fucking idea that those rogue hybrid wolf will appear here to cause more trouble.

I am being selfish again, this is not my thing.

"Miss, where are you?" I screamed in frustration, knowing that I did not even know her name and I had no idea where she was gone. "Blaze, you will have to help us, you need to smell her," I asked my wolf to help me scent her and in a second Blaze ran through the forest searching for the girl. It didn't take long before we found her, she was crouching on the floor beside a tree, and she was trembling there, my wolf increased his paws, and as we got near her, I saw her suddenly raise her eyes and fear was visible in her eyes and the next thing, she slumped to the ground.

Blaze increases his step, leaping toward the young lady who is on the floor. Her eyes were shut and she was just there unconscious, her face was covered with tears. I shifted into my human form.

"Miss..." I crouched beside  her as I scooped her into my hand trying to wake her gently, I tapped her cheek softly, "Miss, you should open your eyes, you are safe now." I hit a few more before she opened her eyes slightly, and her face was fixed on mine, I let out a sigh of relief as I grabbed her to my chest, knowing that she wasn't hurt and that she only passed out because she was scared.

But then something was wrong, she was stiffened, and her breath wasn't stable, she was scared of me as well.

My lips twitched as the realization dawned on me that she wanted to be free from me because she was scared of me. My eyes must be red, this always happens when my wolf and vampire become active at the same time. I shut them and opened them almost at the same time.

I freed her, as she was now a bit far from me, I didn't try to approach her, I didn't want her to become more scared. I felt a sting of pain in my heart. I didn't like to see her shaken, somehow it was all my fault. I know she might not have seen a vampire before and because she hasn't gotten her wolf, will make it more difficult to control her emotions. Humans are always scared and find it difficult to accept that creatures like us exist. If she had her wolf already, she would not have been scared.

This time, I didn't want to be selfish, so I threw her into my hands, I knew I would regret it later but for now, I needed to bring her to her family, so she would feel safe with her family.

She stared at me surprised when I brought her to the doorstep of the address that she gave me. I know that look, she was expecting me to force her to stay with me against her wish.

"Will you be saved here?" I asked.

"Yes, I will be saved and they will protect me."

"I see, maybe I should give you, my contact so you could reach me if you need me."

"No need, I wouldn't be needing you." Her words pierced my heart, they burned, she was always harsh with her words and it was painful, she pushed the gate of her building I just stood there waiting for her thinking she would turn around and say the words that I was dying to hear, but no, she was right, she doesn't need me, even though it hurt that she felt nothing for me, oh Adrian, what are you thinking that someone who just meet you will fall hopelessly in love with you, that will only happen if she is your mate.

I sighed and turned to leave, on second thought, I wanted to get her name, even if she didn't show appreciation for everything I did, I could get her name for consolidation, so I hurried towards the gate, but unfortunately for me, someone had already pulled the door, I stop to see who it was, it's a male, I have no idea who the man is but I saw the excitement in her face as she leaped from the floor and jumped off the floor, her hand flew immediately and then wrapped around the fellow that was at the door. A loud growl escaped my throat, I wanted to go there and separate his head from his neck and then her lips flew to his face.

"I missed you..."
