(Cara's POV)

-----Continues-----

The pain wouldn't stop; it had only been minutes, but yet it felt like hours, soon I heard the familiar bone --crackling sound. Only this time the sound came from me. I could feel my bones rebuilding, and then I was on all four feets, my vision so clear that I saw even the tiniest of things. I could hear the flies buzzling from meters away. There was an echo in the background, and then I heard her whisper.

"Let me out." It was a plea; I knew this voice; this was Catalyn's voice; she repeated the same words she did in my dream.

"Let me out, she begged louder. I reached for my eyes, but it was more difficult in my wolf's form. The voice rang again and again. I could hear someone calling my name, but I couldn't understand who it was. Everything was too much; there was just too much noise, down to the rustling of leaves- I heard it all. and it was suddenly too much sound for me. I fell down to the ground, closing my eyes. Catalyn's voice didn't go away, bu

We sat on a tree in a comfortable silence."Have you ever been scared?" I asked Rollins."Never... before you came, the thought of losing you was my only fear."I thought again of the fact that I would be leaving him soon; there was so much I hadn't done, like Sophie. I didn't want her out of my life; I want to speak to her just one more time."Can I ask you for a favor?""Anything," Rollins replied."I want to go visit my friend, Sophie, soon."He hesitated. "Send my apologies; I don't think she would appreciate what happened between us in my last visit."I gasped, "What did you do, Rollins?""I kind of scared the hell out of her, trying to get where you went. I needed to find you desperately, and I discovered you stopped here first. She is a good friend, almost willing to give her life to hide the truth. I really am sorry, Cara.""It's alright, it was my fault after all.""It's not your fault that I behaved like a dick, it wasn't like she hid you in the wardrobe or something.""Well

(Cara's POV)I couldn't take my words back now, it was too late, but I needed to tell her. I knew my secret was safe with her, but would Rollins approve?"Okay, so you are scaring me right now, gal. Like, I knew it would be something wird, but this is weird as fuck..."She ranted on; there was no way to convince her, she would have to see for herself. I moved so fast, standing right behind her in less than a second. She gasped, turning around slowly as if unsure of what she had just seen."Right," she muttered, "you are a werewolf, and Mr. Hot freak is what?, the Alpha?"I nodded with a smile; she was finally understanding."Right?" she muttered again, and then she was on the floor."Sophie!" I called, shaking her as gently as I could; "Don't you dare faint on me", she didn't move, and so I gave her a little slap."Sorry," I said to her as her eyes opened."This is so not a dream, I felt that hit""Does it look like a dream?""Of course not. Until you pulled that very strange trick,

(Cara's POV)The other rogue set his eyes on me too, and he looked furious. I couldn't help but wonder what was going on with them."You did this." The second one growled at me, and Rollins stood tensed beside me."So you finally decided to speak, dogs?" he said, his voice harsh."We hoped to see her, your Luna.We left our pack only two days ago; you see, every pack had been tense since the Lycan's threats; we all know what is coming; there would be no place to hide; soon, from one pack to the next, the Lycans would destroy us all, irrespective of our numbers."The second one continued. "She is the reason the Lycans have been awakened; she is the reason we are all doomed; she is a curse, not a blessing.""How did you know that?, about the Lycans". Rollins asked because I was too shocked to speak. He tried keeping his voice down, but I could tell that these wolves wouldn't live very long—not like they didn't know that already."Not everyone knows about the prophecy, but we do; she is

(Cara's POV)"Catalyn never knew; she never knew that there was still hope- something to live for; you never knew, and then you were willing to give it all up. The pain was almost unbearable; you believed that you could never be happy, and you only agreed when she told you that at the end you would get what you wanted. Kiara keeps to her promises.""Then tell her I don't want to die anymore; I can't leave this pack; I can't leave Rollins, please.""One would be lost for all; it is a sacrifice, besides, no one is ever ready to die, it just happens.""Is it not like I would be in the war either, I won't be fighting, so what good is this all""You would be; you have to.""Well, I'm out of options here, seeing as Rollins wouldn't want that and neither would he let it happen.""I'll be here then; you have to join in the war; if not, more would die."I nodded."I made a mistake; I understood Catalyn's pain; anyone would have wanted to die too, but then I was given a life, and all those memo

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Ninety Six (Part One)

(Rollins' POV)I've had sex with Cara before—many times, actually—but this was different. It had to be special, to me, she seemed fragile again. Even if she was a wolf now and I didn't need to worry about hurting her as much, she was still far more fragile than when she first came here. She looked at me with such wide eyes as I moved slowly in and out of her, her beautiful pale skin covered with a thin layer of sweat. I supported myself with an arm on the bed; I didn't want to crush her with my weight. This time, I wanted to love her. This time, it wouldn't just be me satisfying my needs and making herncum; it would be me showing her what a woman should feel like. She placed her hands on my back as I kissed her lips, still moving in her. Her legs were rapped around me; she was just so small, so beautiful, and every inch of her was mine. She kissed me with the same hunger, in no rush to bring this all to an end. She was in love with me, just as much as I was in love with her.I would h

"It won't be the best memory for long," he said. "We will make new memories," Teo promised.I stared at him; the feeling of betrayal hurt more. I couldn't bring myself to enjoy the thought of beating him up. Now that Cara was back with me and saved, I was grateful she stopped me; I wouldn't be able to live with the thought that I killed him."She loves you because she believes you are powerful—that's the thing with girls—they always go for the one with the most power, and I thought of the things I could do to get her—she made me this monster; everything I did, I did for her Rollins, and I would do it again. It didn't hurt like I thought it would when I betrayed the whole pack to the Lycans. They would be coming soon. I gave them all the information they needed, and don't you worry, they won't hurt my Cara. It's a surprise, how quickly the whole pack moved on without me," he snorted. "That's for all the love they claim to have; I guess you must have polluted their minds; you must have

(Cara's POV) I woke up; Rollins was not beside me. I opened my eyes, and there he was, leaning against the door, looking so sexy, but there was something else."I brought you some wine," he said, pointing to the table. I couldn't help but notice the pained look on his face; he looked like he was in pain, and there was a very faint scent of blood."Are you alright? You look stressed," I said to him, but he only smirked."These past few days have been stressful—not just for me but for everyone."No wonder I slept like a log of wood."He laughed at that, but there was an edge to his voice.I walked to him, but he flinched away.I couldn't help but feel the rejection—harsh and cold. Why didn't he want me close? I needed to be close to him now more than ever. He noticed the look in my eyes."Come on, baby, if I get too close to you, I won't be able to leave for work. I was about to head out now."I nodded slowly. "Sorry, it's just my nerves.""Take some wine; it would help," he advised, an

(Cara's POV)The soldiers were already assembled, and they waited. The Lycans were coming, they gave way for me when I passed by. I didn't miss the look of surprise on their faces, they didn't expect me to be here, I walked forward, standing besides Rollins."Hello, mate," I whispered, and his eyes tightened."You would have made this easier for the both of us.""No, it won't be easier for any of us. If I die, then it would be besides you, and when I said that, I meant it."He seemed to have given up on trying to keep me locked away; he didn't move any closer to me, and I wish he could touch me. This one time, he stood with his eyes forward, the look of a soldier; he didn't give me a single glance after that. There was a sound coming from the woods, more silent than the sound a pack of Lycans should make. Finally, Rollins hand touched mine, and he held onto my hands. For that short moment, I could convince myself that everything was alright, even if it clearly wasn't."To death, I w

(Epilouge, Part One)(ROLLIN'S POV) I walked into my room to see Gwen there. I didn't know how to tell her. Cara had decided that she would stay in one of the guests rooms till it was all over, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay here knowing that Cara was just a few rooms away and I had never been the one to get sneaky. Gwen had to know."We need to talk," I said to Gwen. She looked tiny now, too thin, but I still thought she was beautiful."It's about her, right?" she asked."I don't want you to stress yourself.""Let me guess, she is back at the pack, you both are back together, and you guys are waiting for me to die so you could go on with your relationships, right?" She asked, and I was silent. I had never felt this kind of guilt, but she surprised me when she smiled."I knew this was going to happen, but you see, I don't even care about the fact that all that went on between the both of us isn't real; I don't care about any of that. I am happy; you made me happy, and you

Three days after the war.I wished I could follow Rollins back to our pack; I wished... but I knew that things would never be the same, and so here I was, with Teo. I couldn't deny that I wanted to be with Rollins; every fiber of my being wanted him, but I couldn't have him.Teo walked down the stairs, fully dressed."Are we going somewhere?" I asked"No, not we, me."I shrugged. "Okay, when would you be back? ", He stared at me, giving me that long look. "Are you leaving me?" I asked, and I couldn't hold back the sob."Is not... is not in that way.""I don't understand.""We were never a thing; as much as I wanted it and still do, I know you love someone else, and I've learned some good lessons, we don't always get what we want , I would always love you, but not in that way, not anymore. You love Rollins; you would never settle for less. I want you to go get him.""What if he doesn't want me?""You both were meant for each other; I don't know what the outcome will be, but what I can

(Cara's POV)Teo led me towards the exit; he held the most of my weight, and I limped trying to go faster."Wait!""No, we have to go," he said, tugging me on, but I had stopped moving. I thought I saw something. "That window," I said, pointing to the window we just passed."No, Cara, not now.""Take me back," I said.Teo made an annoyed sound before taking me back. I looked through the window; I knew what I had seen. The 'human' girls ran out of the gate, but there were two vampires running after them. Those two vampires alone would be able to finish them off; how did they escape?"Sophie," I gasped."I'm sorry, Cara, we can't save them.""Yes, we can't, but you can.""Cara, I was given an order; I have failed him enough; please, we need to go.""Face the truth, Teo, I won't be allowed out of here, but they... they are so close to freedom, please. I have done so many wrongs; I want to do this one right thing, please.""Wait here, don't move one bit; you hear me, don't fucking move."

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Nine (Part Two)

(ROLLINS POV)"I want to give you a more honorable death. I'll let you kill yourself," he said, throwing the gun at me. "One shot to the brain, that would do," he said, his face still having that smirk I hated."And what do you know about honor?" I asked, staring at the gun, that wouldn't kill him, I knew it."Nothing. That would have been a better death... but now," his eyes glittered. "Welcome to hell," and then there was darkness. I could not see a single thing, and then Cara came into view, it was like a clip was being replayed before my eyes, a clip from my mind. She walked into Teo's room and let her robe fall to the ground.Teo waited on the bed, watching her, his eyes watching every part of her. I couldn't run from this; it was like I had been trapped by some invisible force in a very dark room. And then I saw Teo again, forcing himself on her. I watched her sob.I inhaled. "Get out of my head," I growled."Not yet," Vlad whispered, and then I was in my pack. The Shadow Pack

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Nine (Part One)

(Laurent's POV)I couldn't look her in the eyes; she didn't know that I had come searching for her. When Teo told me she was here too, I knew that I had to find her, but I couldn't even look at her. I couldn't let her deceive me this one more time.Maybe we were never meant to be. The thought alone caused a strange kind of anger to rise in me, and I finished off the vampire. I exited her room, her scent in there was too strong. Finally, I could focus; I knew my next target. Ken.I ran through the hallways, checking through room, to find him. Nothing."I guess I am the one you have been looking for." Slowly, I turned back to see Ken, and a smirk spread on my face."I've always wanted to pass a stake into your heart.""Why? Because I have every right to fuck your mate, or perhaps because she would always be left with a part of me any fucking place she goes.""Maybe you are right, but guess what?" I asked, not even waiting for his answer, "We both won't be getting her.""Not if I kill

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Eight

(SOPHIE'S POV)Ken left to help his master. Vlad. There had been an attack; I heard the shouts; I didn't know what exactly was happening, and maybe I didn't want to know anymore.I had made so many bad decisions in my life; I know I deserved this. I had never been a good girl, unlike Cara. I played with the feelings of others and was only loyal to Cara as a friend. My thoughts were cut short when the door to my room busted open and a vampire walked in. I knew him; he had always watched me with an expression on his face. I could only place it as hunger... and lust; he wanted my blood; he wanted to feed; and he wouldn't care if I died in the process. Ken was nowhere to be found; maybe he was dead. I was shocked that the thought of Ken dead didn't make me feel anything at all.The vampire licked his whitish lips as he moved closer, his dark red eyes regarding me, maybe deciding where to sink his teeth, and then they settled on my baby bump."No!, stay away from me!" I cried out. I hadn'

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Seven

(ROLLINS POV)I knew I was in the right location when I got to the castle-like building; it had this dark loom over it; this had to be the place.Teo walked forward; he knew the directions. All through the journey here, I had given the two brothers some distance, as I knew they had a lot of catching up to do."That is the main gate; there are vampires guarding the gates—the strong ones; there is no way we can go in without being detected.""Then we would have to kill them as fast as we can," I said to him, and we walked towards the gates. Of course, the vampires noticed that we were not a part of them quicker than I anticipated. We had to act fast; there were about five of them at the entry. Teo ran forward; his speed alone told me he was stronger now, different. He faced two, engaging in hand-to-hand combat. I threw a wooden stake I had carved to him, and he slammed into the eyes of one. The remaining three came at me, all ready. I tried holding them all back at once till Laurent j

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Six

(Cara's POV)Shade walked into my room. I knew why he was here; it was time for my doze of wolf's bane. The past few days, I have begun to feel less pain anytime the liquid was injected into my veins, but I didn't know how much longer I would last.I didn't know where Rollins was now or what he would be doing. Had Teo found somewhere to start a new life? That would be better for him."It's so funny how this little liquid causes your kind so much pain," Shade said with a smirk as he drew closer. "I love seeing you in pain, and guess what? Vlad had been busy recently..." he trailed off, his hands on my throat. "And right now... he isn't watching you; he has finally seen you for what you are—a slut. He has that already; he doesn't need you, but I want to know... I've always wanted to know what he enjoyed when he was with you and what he saw so differently. His hands went down to my breast, and he pressed hard on it, his eyes brightening up. "Does this turn you on?""Get your hands off me

  • My Human Mate   Chapter Sixty Five

(ROLLIN'S POV)I couldn't bear it, that she was there with HIM. Teo assured me that he wouldn't harm her; Vlad wanted her alive... for other purposes, and that made me furious at the fact that he had touched her, but I guessed she knew when she was going to work for him.She was only helping. I tried to tell myself, after all she had said it, that I could be with anyone I wanted to be with, and I shouldn't be mad at her for fucking the vampire prince to get what she wanted. I couldn't help but wonder if she was hurt; if the bastard hurt her, I was going to kill him. But then again, vampires were already dead.Teo had managed to bring Laurent back from the woods. It was a wonder to me how he had yet again changed; little by little, he was becoming the Laurent I knew, but if you looked deeper into his eyes, you would see the little emptiness. Still, it was better; he was back now.Teo, Laurent, and Lucian sat in my office as we discussed tactics. Though deep down we knew the odds were a
