Chapter 1914

Among the five helicopters that had been hovering around the roof, one had its cabin door open. A man in a police uniform pointed a sniper's rifle at Monica, ready to aim at her again. One gunshot might not be fatal enough to kill her.

Serenity saw Monica twitching on the ground. She figured Monica would probably not survive, but her face changed as she saw a device roll out of Monica's pocket.

The device looked like a kind of remote control to toggle the countdown. The countdown continued from 8...7...6… It was a timer! What was this timer for? Was Monica touching the timer in her pocket earlier?

Serenity had a bad feeling, but by then, Monica could no longer speak. She was dead, and her body stopped moving and twitching.

Jackson strode toward Serenity, taking her by the arm. "Let's go! I'll take you to the hospital!" he said, wanting to bend down and pick her up.
