"Are you awake?" She heard Lucas ask.

Serenity looked up and blushed a little. She responded vaguely before quickly exiting the bus.

Lucas followed her off the bus.

Along the way back to her apartment, no matter how slow or fast she walked, Lucas would keep pace with her and stay next to her.

"Okay, I'll head back now," he said when they arrived, obviously having no intention of going in. Before leaving, he remembered something, so he turned around and said, "By the way, even if the police can't find anything, I'll keep investigating. I don't care who the culprit actually wanted to harm, I'll find them and make sure they pay for their crime."

Serenity asked Lucas, "You believe what Lynette said? That she was the intended victim and I got dragged into it by accident?"
