Clara tore open the letter. As she read it, she felt a chill run through her body.

Clara should have known. What she feared most was bound to come. There was no way to escape them.

"What is this?" Mrs. Wells asked. Even so, she already had a hunch about the letter.

Clara flashed a bitter smile. "Wilson is going to fight me for custody of Yanny."

"You have to talk to Serenity. Didn't she say she'd help you?" Mrs. Wells said hastily.

Clara nodded, looking down at the letter in her hand.

Serenity was willing to help with the case. Even so, Clara knew it would be very difficult for Serenity to win the case, considering her prison record and financial conditions

Clara kept these things from Mrs. Wells, not wanting her elderly mother to worry even more,
