" Nice to meet you too sir", she said and I quickly broke off the handshake.

" So, I hear you'd be leading us in today's meeting, is that true?"

" Very true sir, as soon as we get to the office", she said, motioning with her hands that I can head upstairs. We moved into the building, a magnificent skyscraper with a large ' IC FOODS ' sign at the top. It was surrounded by other buildings but stood tall in the midst of them all, towering above them all. The exterior of the building was plain transparent glass, giving a see through the building and the activities going on in it.

We settled down in the meeting room as the people around went around, seeing that everything was in order - the slide, the power point, the projector, that everything would go as planned. A hard copy of everything to be presented was handed to everyone starting from me, and on the front page was written in bold blue ink ' Reformation Plans For IC FOODS' Packaging Criteria '. Sasha stood at a lectern right b

Hunter's POV Statistical Economics was ongoing in class, but I couldn't just concentrate. I mean, how could I possibly concentrate when Basil's words kept ringing in my ears. The fact that he told me that what I had done was beautiful filled my belly with butterflies. The lecturer was saying something, something about Cross Median Modifications and Standard Economic Derivation but I wasn't paying attention, the attention in question became expensive to pay. Looking at me from a rational perspective one would never guess that I had transcended beyond the lecture hall, far beyond the school building, and to the parking lot where Basil told me he would be at. I was looking at the lecturer, the good looking middle aged man that undoubtedly looks like he was in his thirties, his properly ironed checkered shirt, his silver wrist watch that almost had the reflective index of a diamond, and the way he moved his hands while talking; I was basically looking at all that but if I was told

" Are you leaving now?" Bryan asked, packing his things into his bag. " Yeah, I'm already so tired", I said doing the same thing as him. " I thought you were going to stay for the Economics Student Association (ESA) meeting?" " I would've loved to but I can't. I'm really tired, and besides it's already late", I checked my wrist watch, " look, it's a few minutes past 4 pm, and only God knows when they'll be able to start the meeting and dismiss, probably by 7 pm", we took our bags; our side bags and laptop bags and headed out of the school building. " Where's your ride home?" he asked as we got to the parking lot. " Well, I won't be driving for a while now. I was pulled over by the police yesterday and they found out that I hadn't completed probation before driving again so they extended the time for probation" I said, standing in front of his car and two cars away from mine. " Oh, so how did you get to school then? A cab?" " No, him", I pointed towards the car. Basil w

Hazel's POV Sasha has always been daring; that was one of the things I had liked about her to be frank, but I never imagined that she would be so daring to appear before me after that scene with Cole. She was flamboyant and outgoing and colorful and I loved all that, but when the cheating qualification was added to her resume, I started hating every other thing that I had liked about her. Meeting her at the food factory really destroyed my day, and for the rest of the day I couldn't just concentrate, even my meeting with the tech company didn't go as I had planned. We didn't discuss the major problems we were facing as a tech company, especially since Apple and Samsung were hellbent on driving us out of business. I stayed over at the company doing some paperwork and approving some projects until the sun disappeared into the west horizon. I heard a knock on my door and was actually surprised that Miss May had not gone home; she was one of my employees who usually stayed till

  • My Father's Wish     Chapter Twenty-seven

That was one weird dream. Rationally it should be referred to as a nightmare, if not for anything, for the fact that Hunter and Sasha appeared in it. I got out of bed and the things I was working on from last night were still littered everywhere, on every single part of the room. I took some time to arrange everything so my room doesn't keep looking like a trash site and headed straight to the bathroom to get ready for the day. I got down and made myself a toast. I was about to brew coffee when I discovered that my Italian coffee grains were finished, and that meant that I just had to eat the toasted bread and be on my way. I could hear some noise in Hunter's room and that made it obviously clear that he was still upstairs. Basil wasn't even there yet so it seemed as if he would be having late classes. I ate my bread solo as I went through the iPad, checking my schedule for the day. Just paperwork and project approvals, and then dinner with mom and dad - oh my God, it was

Hunter's POV A new day brings with it new possibilities and hope, and as I summarized my sleep by tilting from side to side on the bed, I remembered that I had a school function to prepare for - just wonderful. It was the World Mental Health day and as the president of the Students welfare, I had come up with a little activity to create more awareness of mental health. One of our students committed suicide just a couple of months ago, a normal looking, no family issues, intelligent freshman, just out of the blue decided to end his life. People could never find a reason why he decided on that, but the truth is that there is always more to something than what actually meets the eye. What we normally see isn't just about everything there is. Take for instance the case of the Mendez brothers who brutally murdered their parents and paged it as a homicide. It wasn't until later that a detective noticed that they were living life way too happy for people that had just lost their paren

Do you know that movie, Inside Out 2? Where Joy had introduced to Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear the super high tech Riley protection system through which they dispose most of Riley's most embarrassing moments into the back of the mind? Yeah. Right there inside the car with Basil at the red light, the memory I made there was one of those which I would encourage my own joy to send straight to the back of my mind without thinking twice. I would even beseech her to do so. " What is it? Is something wrong with your eyes?" I heard Basil ask and I immediately opened my eyes to find out that I had not gotten the kiss. I looked at myself and realized that he was trying to put my seatbelt on for me, not kiss me - how stupid could I be. " Yeah, yes, I think an insect found its way into my eyes", I said as I started scratching my eyes, looking for the imaginary insect that had flown into it from nowhere, wallowing in the pool of shame and embarrassment, just like waving at an unfamilia

A heart disease. Yeah, that had to be the explanation. I was probably suffering from a heart disease because my heart was beating way too fast for it to be functioning appropriately. I really should have considered going over to the medical laboratory students to get my blood pressure checked because I was damn sure it was going to be over a hundred and fifty. " Um, I don't know what to say", I looked up to him; literally looked up to him because he was like six feet tall and I was like a five or something, so I looked up to him, into his eyes, " thank you so much", I said, smiling. " You're welcome", he said and then came the tension. Not really a tension but a certain kind of awkward moment where we both didn't know what to say and consequentially just stood there, looking at each other in the face. " Well um, I'll leave you to get on with what you're doing. I'll be in the car", he said, scratching the back of his head in what seemed like nervousness. " Okay. I'll be s

Hazel's POV Mothers can always be trusted. Trusted to nag, and nag, and nag, and never stop nagging. I literally didn't get past one bite of food without her reminding me that I was irresponsible for not bringing Hunter along for the mid-week family dinner. If she didn't say it with her mouth, she said it with her eyes and her attitude. I wondered how dad was able to survive all his years of marriage with the beautiful grumpy old lady who could literally nag the devil to death. A little advice for young people out there; never live with your parents. Never try that, especially when you have a mom like mine. Unless you're willing and able to sacrifice your peace of mind. I went straight to my room as soon as I got back from that den of the lioness, feeling grateful that my limbs were still intact. I went to bed immediately and the sun was so gracious that it rose even before I could close my eyes properly, making me wonder if something had gone wrong with the Earth's rotary

I started writing again, and this was just a chapter of my most recent book.Chapter OneThe CoreWriter's POV She ran as fast as her feet could carry her, almost outrunning the sun on its journey to the west. She got there, and with the strength of a warrior, jumped over the tall fence in one try. She landed on green carpet grass which spread out to a lake. He stood beside the lake, in all his glory of golden yellow skin and black hair, tied up into a bun. She just stood there, staring at him. Even though she had not unlocked her wolf, she could still feel it nudging her to run to him, to embrace him, but she didn't. The encounter from two days ago was still fresh in her memory, the disdainful look he gave her as he ordered his men to beat her to a pulp was still vivid, making her scared of approaching him. She was of the black race, and he didn't accept her as his mate because of that, and she knew it too well, but still couldn't help looking for him. The strings around her h

  • My Father's Wish     Chapter Seventy-four

Hunter's POV Have you ever closed your eyes? Have you ever stopped to listen? Have you ever felt alive? As if there's nothing missing? As if you don't need a reason, just letting the day go on and on? I felt all that. Everything, anything, all at once. I could say with my full chest that my life was perfect, that I had everything I ever wanted. But all came crashing down when I heard what Mrs Mcman said. Hazel tried to explain but I just didn't want to listen to anything he was going to say. Everything was a lie. The life I had thought I had achieved, the happiness I thought I had found, the fulfillment I thought I had begotten, all of it was a lie, a lie that I had wished I never found out, a lie that had been so perfect, so demure, so fantastic that living in it forever wouldn't be a problem, but alas I found out, and I certainly had to do something. “ Gosh, how could he? I mean, all this while, how on earth could he?” Bryan said, fuming furiously after I had thoroughly exp

“ But then, tell me, cause I've always wondered, why did you bully me back then in middle school?” I asked Hazel as we both sat in the sitting room spending quality time together after having a hearty breakfast on a Sunday morning. “ Never have I ever” was the movie going on on the television and it was starting to get a little bit boring. “ Well, actually, remember that night that we uh, kissed in your house?” He started. “ The night of the slumber party?” “ Exactly. So after that incident that happened, not the kiss, the bed wet, I thought you weren't going to tell anyone…..”. “ I didn't tell anyone”, I retorted, cutting him off. “ I know, but back then when I got to school the following Monday, on seeing what was written about it on my locker, I thought that perhaps you had broken your promise and told someone”, his tone was apologetic, but hey, I was still mad. “ Wait, so you literally made my life a living hell in middle school because you thought that I had out

  • My Father's Wish     Chapter Sixty-nine

I continued with my next chapter, feeling so convinced that I would finish the book in no time.Chapter ThreeEveryone was astonished when the girl who was just hit by a truck came out of the dismantled shop, with spectres of blood but no sight of a physical injury. " I'm finally in heaven!" she shouted at the onlooking crowd, raising both her hands up like a WWE wrestler that just won a major match in WrestleMania. The driver who had hit her had almost peed in his pants, thinking that he might have killed someone, but when she displayed such insanity in full health, he relaxed his mind. " The mad ones are always the strong ones", he said to himself as he walked his enormous potbelly back into his truck and drove off. She continued strolling the streets, wondering when she'll get to meet face to face with God. The people on the street didn't seem like angels; they had no wings, so they must also be inhabitants of heaven. She walked and walked, happy that she could walk, but

The next day, I came up with an idea for the second chapter and I got to writing.Chapter Two Elizabeth had suffered greatly beyond bounds. If suffering was a person, that person would surely be her. She was so unlucky to have been born to an American mother who came to Italy for a vacation, only to fall in love with a man who had her for one night and left her forever, never to be seen again. Her poor mother, a young college student, couldn't bear to sacrifice her life to bring up a child that came about through a one nightstand, and so she tried every possible means to abort the baby before going back to America. After having a surgical procedure at a quack's place, she went back to the states, thinking that she had left everything behind, only to realize about four months later that the little demon was still growing inside of her. All the drugs she took didn't get her out, and even the surgical procedure wasn't enough. She tried more drugs, but the baby was still hellb

A Nigerian artist, I think Davido or David, once said in his song called ‘ Assurance’ that love is sweet, but when money enter, love us sweeter, and to be frank, nothing has ever been more true. That night was a turning point for us in our marriage. We started living like a real couple, with everything we ever wanted. I moved into Hazel's room, having the leverage to as we pleased. Sex was no longer an everyday something, but we never missed sleeping together and cuddling each other, and when we eventually had sex, it wouldn't just be sex, it was always more of like a spiritual bonding, enabling us to see each other at our most vulnerable and love that about ourselves. Another good thing that came with the spice up in our marriage was that I started writing again. Writing was once a childhood passion of mine and I had written quite a number of unpublished books, but then after my inner happiness was rekindled, I resumed writing again. I got a pen and a book, and just sta
