Andrew

I paused just outside of the country club and shot Lanie a text that I wanted to see her. She didn’t respond right away, but she would. After tucking my phone into my pocket, I walked in looking for Saxton.

The playboy extraordinaire sat at the bar, women on both sides of him. I moved up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder.

“Andrew. Good to see you.” He offered me a warm smile and a hand to shake.

“These beautiful women don’t know you’re married?” I shook his hand and smirked.

The girls scattered like roaches when the lights came on.

“Sorry.” I laughed and dropped down next to him. “I had to.”

“Man. Really? Shit.” He glanced behind him, shaking his head as if still trying to convince the women that he was, in fact, not married. The guy would most likely live alone forever. He seemed to thrive in that state.

“Thanks for meeting with me.” I lifted my finger toward the bartender and caught the guy’s eye. “Bud Light in the bottle please.”

AndrewI drove to Lanie’s in silence, my mind spinning in a million directions. The Bartlet account was squared away again, and Liza would be heading back home in the next few days, which was a blessing. The woman was far too comfortable in her own skin. I needed to assign her to someone else, but Thomas was about the only one I trusted to take on such an important account.“She’d eat that kid alive.” I pulled into the apartment complex and parked, sitting in the silence for a few minutes. It was odd to find myself at forty-five, sitting outside of an apartment building, gearing up to go in and make love to my girlfriend. It felt like a movie, one that I’d lived twenty years before.“Stop it,” I barked at no one and got out of the car, grabbing the bottle of wine I’d picked up from the country club gift shop before leaving. I needed to get my mind off work, but I couldn’t seem to shake the excitement bubbling up in me over the possible mastermind opportunity with a few other guys at m

  • My Father's Best Friend   Burning for Him

LanieMy whole body was on fire for him. I spread my legs farther and slid my fingers into his hair, massaging his scalp as he rolled his tongue through my folds. The pressure of him forcing two thick fingers into my body caused me to buckle, letting go of my orgasm. The tension in my back fled as I arched and cried out his name, riding the high he offered me.“Enough,” I cried out and pushed at his shoulder. He glanced up, his lips wet, eyes wild. I could love him forever. Fuck everything else.“No. It’s enough when I say it’s enough.” He kept his eyes locked to mine and leaned down, softly licking at my swollen skin. The delicious pull on my clit as he sucked it into his mouth had my eyes rolling back in my head.“Okay. Just don’t stop.”He moved back and pressed his fingers back into me, fucking at a steady pace as he watched me. “So what is it, baby? Keep going or stop?”“I don’t know.” I gripped the sheets and groaned at the delicious tension building in my stomach. “I want you.

  • My Father's Best Friend   Did I Fall Asleep?

Andrew“Lanie?” I stretched and pulled the delicious scent of bacon deep into my lungs. “Lanie?”“In the kitchen,” she called out. Just the sound of her voice put a smile on my face, until I remembered that I conked out on the pretty young thing.“Shit,” I grumbled as I got up and put my clothes back on. After checking my watch, my blood pressure went through the roof. Nine o’clock? “Lanie. Why didn’t you wake me up? I had my first meeting an hour ago.”My mood soured further as I jumped down the hallway, trying to get my shoes on. I hit my head against the wall, and a picture of Lanie and her parents fell and shattered.“Andrew? What are you—” She stopped at the end of the hallway and pressed her fingers to her lips, looking way too cute for the mood I’d descended down into.“It’s not funny.” I knelt down and tried to clean up the broken glass, only to cut myself. “I’m late.”“Then leave that there.” She moved down the hall, her feet bare and legs on full display.“Hey.” I glanced up

  • My Father's Best Friend   New Year's Eve

AndrewI worked through lunch to make up the time I’d missed that morning, but just before two, my stomach started singing a symphony. I put it off as long as I could and eventually shut things down. It was officially a holiday. My staff were either off for the day or done by noon. I needed to get food lest I turn into a hangry monster on the lookout for someone to attack. After packing up and getting in the car, I realized that Raven would be celebrating the New Year by herself. I couldn’t let that happen. No need to pile guilt onto guilt.I ran through a fast food drive-through and got myself and Raven something to eat. Memories of her being a little girl and begging for the kid’s meal with a certain toy stilled the moment for me. She was almost grown. She’d be leaving soon to start her own life.“And I almost lost her too.” I pressed my hand to my chest, realizing that I needed to find a way to chill the fuck out where both of the women in my life were concerned. They were both you

Lanie“So. What do you think of this one?” Erica twirled around, the cute green dress she tried on fitting her perfectly.“I think we’re going to find you and Matt missing about halfway through the evening.” I wagged my eyebrows. “When are you guys going to start talking about marriage?”“Soon. We’re not in a huge hurry. We have the rest of our lives, right?” She disappeared back into the dressing room.I ran my hand over a pretty black skirt as my thoughts raced around. I didn’t have forever. The rest of Andrew’s life was forty years? Where that was a long time, marrying a guy in his fifties seemed a bit much. Reminded me too much of my parents.“Try it on. It’ll look good on you.” A saleswoman walked up and pulled the skirt from the rack. “You have a beautiful figure. This with a silky pink top? Stunning, I bet.”“Yeah?” I tried to ignore the heat rushing up my chest and coating my cheeks. “Okay. Sure. I need something for my friend’s party anyway. I’d love to impress my boyfriend w

Lanie“And this is my brother Damon. Have you guys met?” Matt pressed his hand gently to the middle of my back, walking me around the room and introducing me to his family and fellow artists at the party later that night.“I don’t think so.” I extended my hand, trying not to focus on how incredibly hot Matt’s brother was. “Wait. Maybe so?”“I think so.” He smiled and kissed my hand. “My wife Bethany is over there by the window. She’ll want to meet Erica’s best friend as well.”“Got it.” Matt walked me over to the window, and I couldn’t help but look around the crowd for Andrew. The night was getting closer and closer to being over, midnight looming in the next forty minutes or so. I’d texted him three times, but after that, I felt like I was nagging and quit.“Beth. This is Lanie. Erica’s BFF.” He smiled down at me as Bethany and I exchanged pleasantries. I’d met Kendal and Dana a few minutes before, as well as a million other people I could barely remember after shaking their hands.

  • My Father's Best Friend   Business Not Pleasure

AndrewThree Days LaterMy Friday started with a shitstorm of massive proportions. Lanie still hadn’t returned the message I’d left her the previous night, telling her I missed her and wanted to chat. I knew I was in the dog house, and no amount of groveling could save me.I’d forgotten all about the New Year’s Eve party.Work had been weighing heavily on me, and I was exhausted, but all I could think was that I couldn’t let Raven spend another night in the hospital alone. Sure, Jason was there, but I didn’t like that idea any more than her being alone in a sterile room, confined by hospital smells and sounds. The kid deserved more than that. It was a lose/lose situation. But that meant Lanie had rung in the New Year by herself. That wasn’t acceptable. She had every right to be pissed at me. I’d shown my cards and proven that I couldn’t uphold a promise, and I felt like shit about it. No wonder she wasn’t talking to me.I raked my fingers through my hair as I tried to push the guilt d

  • My Father's Best Friend   A Homewrecker

AndrewNo, Lanie wasn’t like that. She was Liza’s polar opposite in every way.“Why don’t you stay in town a little longer?” Liza asked. “You gave me a wonderful tour of Seattle when I was out in your neck of the woods. Let me return the favor. I can show you some wonderful little places I know you’d love.”“Uh—” I opened my mouth to tell her no. A firm no. But she steamrolled right over me.“You like seafood, right? There’s this little place not far from here that serves the most decadent oysters I’ve ever tasted. And their wine pairings?” She paused and slid off the desk to press one hand lightly to my bicep. “It will ruin all other seafood for you. I promise.”I carefully lifted her hand from my arm. “I appreciate the invitation,” I said, trying to be as respectful as possible. Liza was my client, and the business deal we were working on was still in the fragile stages. I’d miss out on a massive payout if I fucked things up between us. But I wasn’t going to be used as a plaything,

Andrew“How are you doing?” I rubbed Lanie’s shoulder, feeling silly for asking the question. She huffed out a breath, looking out the window instead of at me.I nodded. Right, then. What was it I learned in that maternity class we took? For the life of me, I couldn’t remember one thing. My pulse was racing a million miles an hour, and all my nerves were bunching up in my stomach.Lanie exhaled again, long and low, as she had another contraction. The door opened, and the doctor strode into the room with a big smile. “Let’s check you out,” she said.Lanie just pressed her lips tight together and nodded, her face growing red.“You’re doing great, honey,” I told her.She smiled up at me, but I could see the exhaustion in her eyes. She was ready for this to be over with.Taking her hand, I held it tight as the doctor checked her dilation.“Ten centimeters,” she announced. “We’re ready to push.”“Thank god,” Lanie gasped. She gritted her teeth and squeezed my hand so tight, I thought it wa

LanieI whisked the curtains open, taking in the white beach and the sparkling blue water. Palm trees and other foliage covered the far side of the bay. A few people surfed, but other than that, the area was empty.“Oh my god,” I breathed. “It’s beautiful.”Andrew’s strong arms wrapped around me from behind. “Yeah?” he murmured, laying a kiss on the side of my neck. We’d gotten to the resort after dark the night before, and all I’d really gotten to see were the patios and the lobby. I’d pored over the brochure, though, listing all the things I wanted to do.“I can’t believe we’re here for a whole week.” I rested my arms against Andrew’s.“What do you want to do today?”“Mm.” I leaned against him, thinking about it some. “Sunbathe? Take a surfing lesson? I dunno. What do you want to do?”“Spend time with you.”I spun around to face him. “I like that answer.”A knock on the door made me look over his shoulder. “It’s so early. Who is that?”Andrew shrugged but couldn’t hide the knowing l

  • My Father's Best Friend   Mine Forever

AndrewThe door of the old house opened, and Erica came out first. She smiled at everyone over her bouquet, and a low whistle came from somewhere in the crowd.“Inappropriate,” Saxton dramatically gasped under his breath. For a moment, my nerves loosened, and I almost laughed—but Raven was coming out the door then. She wore a blue dress like Erica, just cut in a different way, with the skirt longer and no sleeves. Smiling wide, she made her way down the aisle. She walked with the slightest limp, one that might have been unnoticeable if you weren’t paying attention. It was the one leftover symptom from the car wreck, something that would likely be with her for the rest of her life, as she’d broken her leg so badly. The limp didn’t get her down, though. Overall, she’d been positive about the whole thing. Now, as she reached the end of the aisle, she looked my way and absolutely glowed.Love and pride filled my heart. Our relationship had gone through some tough times, but the last six m

  • My Father's Best Friend   It's Really Happening

Andrew3 Months Later – The Wedding“Your tie looks fine,” Bob told me.“Huh?” I dragged my gaze away from the line of trees ringing the field. “What’s that?”“You were messing with your tie again.” Bob grinned. “You ever wore one of those before?”I frowned. “Almost every day.”Bob clapped me on the back. “I was kidding, Andrew. Relax.”I took in a long breath. “Sorry.”All around us, wedding guests chatted and catering staff hurried to and from. The day was amazing, a balmy June morning. The venue Raven and Lanie had discovered couldn’t be more perfect. What was once a mansion on the outskirts of the city had been turned into a preserve complete with hiking trails and a covered area for events.“Were you this nervous?” I asked, looking Bob over.I expected him to answer in the negative—Bob was just that confident about everything. I’d only asked because I needed to keep myself busy somehow. If I didn’t spend the last fifteen minutes before my wedding talking, I’d probably die of anx

  • My Father's Best Friend   I Want to Feel You

LanieLast night, he’d pulled out every time and played it safe. I knew we were taking baby steps. Going from using a condom every time to suddenly doing away with them was a leap. But I was on birth control, which I’d told him, and immediate pregnancy was extremely unlikely. I just wanted to know what it felt like to have his come fill me up.“Please baby,” I moaned. “I want to feel you.”Andrew groaned above me, and his hands tightened on my ass. I was doing him over with this talk, and I knew it. He loved it. And he probably wanted the same thing I did. So I encouraged him again by looking over my shoulder and looking him in the eye as he fucked me.“Andrew,” I purred. “Fuck me until you come inside me. Please.”And he did. He bucked wildly against me, and I came as he shot his warm silky load inside me. It was what I had needed. A closeness that we’d never experienced before. He was bent over me and kissing my spine and my shoulder blades as his orgasm ebbed away and my body thrum

  • My Father's Best Friend   Not Messing Around

LanieI woke up in the morning with Andrew’s hand on my hip. I was lying on my side, and he was behind me. I could feel his cock pressed against the small of my back. His breath was on my neck, and his closeness turned me on immediately.I was always horny in the morning, and waking up next to him was intoxicating. It was early. The room wasn’t as bright as it would be at say, seven or so in the morning. It must have been earlier, maybe six, possibly just after five. But we were both awake, and I wanted to take advantage of it before I had to leave for work at eight thirty. My life had somehow mended itself. Erica’s weekend getaway had helped, and so had Andrew’s willingness to take a good hard look at himself in the mirror and figure out what he wanted and whether or not he was willing to do what it took to get it. He shifted against me and yawned deeply.“Morning,” I whispered. His hand moved around my hip to my belly, and he pulled me in closer to him. His cock shifted between my a

  • My Father's Best Friend   With Whipped Cream

AndrewHow had it taken me so long to figure out that this was what I needed? I hadn’t felt this good in years, or maybe even a decade, to be honest. Hell, maybe longer. My career had consumed my life. I’d nearly let it destroy my relationship with my daughter. Had it not been for Lanie, my life would have already imploded. Not only did she rescue the crumbling relationship with the person I loved most in this world, but she also showed me support and kindness and softness.“You’re a lucky bastard.” I smiled to myself as I rolled out of my chair and made for the kitchen.I chopped up some strawberries and tossed them on a bed of whipped cream. I added a sprinkle of icing sugar and some chocolate drizzle and left it in the fridge so that the whipped cream wouldn’t melt by the time Lanie came back down.I waited, much too nervous to do anything but pace the kitchen floor for a whole thirty-five minutes before Lanie appeared in the kitchen doorway. She was wearing a smile that eased my n

AndrewWhen I told Lanie that Raven was home, it took a lot of effort for us to cool down. We were all giggles and flirting as we went to the kitchen and each got a glass of water. Then we went out back to the patio and sat in the sun. Lanie kicked off her sandals, rested her feet in my lap, and let the sun kiss her bare legs. I ran my hands up and down them as she told me all about her weekend with Erica.“It really was beautiful there,” Lanie said. “We should go some time. You’d love the hot springs. I can only imagine how stunning it would be in the winter. And cold.”“I’ll take you whenever you want to go.”“I’ll tell you when I start to get the itch again.”“Good. What else is new? Tell me.”Lanie shrugged and sipped her water. “Besides getting totally pampered all weekend? Not much. I had some good chats with Erica, though, and I was able to sort through some things that were taking up too much space in my mind. Things about us.”“Oh?”“We need to be better at communicating,” sh

I’m sorry for all this shit the last few weeks. I’ve been an ass. I want to make this work. Really. I want to be with you.”I thought I might start crying. Again. But I held on to my emotions and smiled instead. “I want that too. So badly.”He kissed me again. My heart raced and tried to fly out of my chest. He broke away and threw his arm out to flag down a passing cab. We both piled into the back seat, and he told the driver his address. Then he pulled me into his lap, pushed my skirt up so he could rest his hands on my bare thighs, and crushed his mouth against mine.“What about your car?” I asked him and pressed against him tightly.“Fuck it. I’ll get it later.” He slipped his hands into my hair and pulled me down for another long round of kisses.I clung to him and didn’t care that there was someone in the car with us. He wa
