Chapter 4: HAYES BETRAYAL

Charvie stood in the doorway, her eyes fixed on the two people she thought she knew. Her sister and Bryan, the ones she trusted, the ones she loved. They were entwined in each other's arms, their faces initially frozen in guilt.

For a moment, they just stared at her, their eyes wide with remorse. Her sister's eyes dropped, and Bryan's face twitched as if they both knew they'd been caught red-handed.

But then, something shifted. Her sister's gaze rose, and her eyes narrowed. Bryan's face hardened, his jaw clenched.

"What are you looking at?" her sister sneered, her voice dripping with disdain, as she snuggled deeper into Bryan's chest, who accepted her gesture, without remorse, curling his hand around her waist, in their nude posture.

"Baby, can she be as sweet as I, who remembered your birthday and gave you what she can't give you?" Isabella pouted, pushing her hand into Bryan's thick locks, and combing it back.

Bryan kissed Isabella on her forehead, his gaze hardened, before it moved back to Charvie, who stood frozen at the doorway, maybe waiting for Bryan to tell her it wasn't true, but the look in his eyes broke her to the thinnest.

Her blood sister, and the man she had trusted her heart with, 'where are the promises he intends to keep?'

“No, baby, you are the best, if I had the chance, I would marry you and not her.” Charvie's leg turned to jellies, as she wobbled, holding on to the door, to regain her balance, with her lips, shaking continuously, her eyes red and bulging with unshed tears.

“Bye sissy, don't worry he would get married to you, this is just a birthday gift, don't take it seriously, I know he loves me, but it is not bad sharing things with one's sister, I am the eldest, and you know when mama and papa shares something between us, I end up getting the largest, so just take it like he is something I have to share with you, I will get his heart and attention, and you can just stay as a living housewife, enjoying whatever comes to you.” Isabella spouts, her face holding a mocking look.

All her life had been a damn lie, a smart betraying b!tch of a sister, and a spiteful lover. Charvie stood straight back, her eyes draining back the tears, which had intended to fall before. Suddenly, she gave out an imposing and unexplainable aura, before she let out a strange and insanely long chuckle, ending it with a smirk.

Charvie's hand danced inside the cross bag, which rested on the left side of her waist, before bringing out her phone, and moving closer to the duo in bed.

“Smile, you two! You're going to want to remember this moment,” Charvie said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Isa and Bryan exchanged nervous glances, their faces pale. “Charvie, what are you doing?” Isa asked again, her voice trembling.

“Just capturing the moment,” Charvie replied, her eyes fixed on the screen as she snapped a photo. “You know, for posterity. Or should I say, for evidence?”

Bryan's eyes widened in alarm. “Charvie, stop. This isn't funny.”

Charvie chuckled, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous light. “Oh, I think it's hilarious. You two were so caught up in your little secret, that you forgot about the rest of the world. But don't worry, I'll make sure to share this moment with everyone.”

Bryan grabbed the bedsheet, wrapping it around his body, as he ran towards Charvie, intending to snatch the phone away from her, but Charvie pulled her hand back, even before he could take it, making him stumble.

The eyes that once looked at her with so much love now glared at her with hate and despair, 'how could he?'

If only she had a gun, she could have shót him to death.

Instead of letting her emotions get the upper hand on her, an elegant smile stood on her diamond-shaped face with high cheekbones.

“And what are you trying to do ex?” Charvie made a dangerous move, her long fingernails, glimmering with red nail polish, traced the cuts on his abs, as she watched his stomach tense, and tighten with her touch, her eyes moving down to his lower region, a smirk on her lips, watching the bedsheet around his waist, grow rigid in one direction.

Isabella seeing this in her nude form, rushed to both of 'em, pushing Charvie away from Bryan, and pulling the shocked Bryan to herself.

Charvie gave them a last glance, before walking away, swaying the phone with her, “Wait for the big news tomorrow.”

Bryan made to run after her, but Isabella, pulled him back “Don't go after her, she will feel she is something special, let her do what she intends to do, just a little twist, and she will feel like the fool.” Isabella's eyes held a look of mischief, but the assurance wasn't still enough for Bryan to calm his tense self.

“What if grandma finds out?”

As Charvie walked down the stairs of Bryan's house, she found the cake still lying on the stairs, and the tears she had fought from coming, started with a drop of tears, before she couldn't hold it back, any longer.

She tore open the cake cover, diving her finger into it as she wrote, pronouncing her words, with her voice giving out. From the pink written 'Happy birthday honey bunny' she changes it to 'happy bad luck days ahead' leaving it lying where she placed it, she left the mansion, grabbing a bottle of rum with her.

MORNING.

The whole of San Francisco was in a state of turmoil, with the faces of two well-known people of a prestigious family plastered all over the screens.

'How could they?'

‘Such a b!tch, if I had a sister like Isa, I would have strangled her to death in that instant’

Grandma Hayes, took the phone from the butler, slamming it over the wall, her chest giving constant heaves “Get me, Bryan!!” She roared, sending goosebumps down everyone's body around, even Bryan's mom, who stood in the room.

The old butler ran off, to get the young master.

In the next minutes, Bryan walked down the stairs, in his robe, seeing the living room tense, with the back of his grandmother facing him, a quick shiver ran down his spine.

“Grandmother.”

“Grandson,” Grandma Hayes turns to look at the young man walking towards her, her gaze hardened on him, and the old butler gave the phone to Bryan, without Grandma having to say anything “May you please explain that to me, I know I am ageing fine, and I have never had a problem with my eyesight neither my ears not to know what Is going on.”

Bryan stared at the phone, feigning a confused look, with his grandmother holding a questioning gaze “No, grandma this..this, I...I and Isa...we were drugged, how can I do this in my right senses, when you know how I love Charvie, she is my world, I...I can't do this.”

A deep frown etched on Grandma Hayes's face “Who could have drugged you and Isabella?”

“I think I know, it might be Charvie.”

“Is the aphrodisiac still in your brain?” The old lady asked, thinking her grandson was spouting nonsense.

“Believe me, grandmother, I swear, I caught a glimpse of Charvie last night, but I didn't believe it was her until..” he suddenly held his head, like he was having a severe headache, with Grandma Hayes getting worried.

“Get him on a chair, so he can explain better.” Bryan was assisted to the couch in the room, by the maids, per the old woman's command, before he continued talking,

“You can ask Isabella, I don't even know how I got to my house with Isa yesterday after the dinner party with the Bowens, but I knew we had something when I saw Isa beside me at midnight, and that was why I came here to spend the night, and later report to you this morning about what happened…Isabella who wasn't too intoxicated, said she saw Charvie in my room doorway, who took a photo and walked away, I don't think Charvie loves me, grandmother, she doesn't want the wedding, so she is looking for ways to cancel the wedding, by putting faults on both families grandmother.” Bryan's revelation came as a blow to the older woman.

'Bryan would never lie to her.’ she looked into his eyes as if searching for something.

“You need to trust Bryan grandmother, I knew from the start, Charvie was up to no good.” Alberta, Bryan's mom said, gritting her teeth, as she walked to her son, caressing his hair like a baby.

“How could she? With all my endless sacrifices for her nonentity family, get the car ready, we are going to the Klein's Resident.”

KLEIN RESIDENTS.

A loud continuous knock went on in the Klein's residents “Open this door, Charvie Klein.” Mr. Klein's baritone voice rang loudly like a warning bell.

Skin radiating like the sunshine, which pierced into her room, was Charvie, who stared outside her window, dressed in a long yellow dress, with her phone in her hand.

She was on a popular blog on a social media platform, reading comments on a post, which caused online traffic, her finger trapped between her teeth, the usual lights in her eyes gone.

#sistergoals #cheatersgonnacheat #betrayal was everywhere.

A satisfied smile curled around her lips, before leaving her phone on a nearby couch.

When she was done, she was surprised to know that her noisy family had left her doorstep, her phone began ringing, already knowing who it was, she wasn't in the mood to pick up any call, as she plopped back on her bed.

In the next minute, her room door burst open in a loud bang, as the face she expected to show up, walked in, with her maids trailing behind her.

“How dare you?” Grandma Hayes asked, with a voice, which spat thick venom, as her maids walked up to Charvie, grabbed her by her arms, and they pulled her down the bed, making her kneel in front of the older woman. And, immediately, as Charvie saw the faces, which now disgust her the most at her doorstep, Bryan and Isabella, who feigned a concerned look, she knew they had fed the old woman with nonsense.

A resounding slap from nowhere landed on Charvie's cheek.
