After Ella listened to Daniel’s explanation, tears freely flowed down her face.

“You could have died Daniel. What were you thinking jumping out of the car that did not have brakes?”

“That was the only chance we had to survive. If not, we would have died under that rock.”

“I am sorry Danny. It should have been me in that car, and not you. I should have let you send the kids to school like always.”

“What could we have done if anything had happened to you?”

“Hey, am fine, aren’t I? I have dabbed in way too many dangerous things like this when I was in the army. This was nothing.”

“And I am also glad that you were not the one in the car. I would not have forgiven myself if something could have happened to you under my watch.”

Ella hugged Daniel tightly. She had never felt so much fear in her life before.
