“Though it is disappointing, I must admit, that William has chosen to join forces with Giovanni,” James said, his voice carrying the weight of his disappointment.

“He was the first to claim he would back out, especially when he knew the two of you would eventually find your mates.”

Arnold, standing beside him, nodded in agreement. “Same here,” he added, his tone thoughtful yet laced with a hint of frustration.

“But, who knows? Maybe something happened. Giovanni offered him something so tempting and blinding that William couldn’t resist.” James claimed.

The room seemed to fall into a heavy silence, every one reflecting on William’s betrayal, but Alex broke through it with a steady, determined voice.

“For now, one thing is certain,” he said, looking around at all of us. “This isn’t over. It might seem like things have quieted down but stay on your guard. Giovanni might target people we’re close to, and we can’t afford to let our guard down.”

I nodded in agreement, tak
