Gwen.

I woke up the next morning with a sore body and a pounding headache, I guess it was a result of me crying too much earlier. I sluggishly got up from the bed, and even though I had no intention of ever leaving the confinement of this room—especially this bed—I had to do it. My plans for this morning were to go for some job hunting and then come back to eat breakfast.

I made my way to the bathroom and took my yesterday’s clothes off, I had a quick bath before coming out of the bathroom and that was when the realization dawned on me.

I don’t have anything to wear. Left with no other choice I had to put on the dress I wore yesterday even though it was dirty. With that thought I knew there had been a change of plans, there was no way I’d go out putting on a dirty dress that smelled of sweat.

I left the room after picking up the phone Ryan gave to me yesterday but on my way to the kitchen, I saw some shopping bags sitting on the couch. Feeling perplexed as to why they were suddenl

At least try. Maybe if your family has money they can as well help you get your daughter back and you can take your family business if you don’t have a brother who could do it

Gwen. ‘Why call her when she hadn’t called for the past years to know how I was faring?’ I thought. And with that, I canceled the number and dropped my phone. They don’t deserve to be called my family. If they were truly family, they would have called once in a while to check up on me. I know I was the one who decided to leave, even when father swore he wasn’t going to take me back with open hands if anything was to go wrong. I turned my back on them and went after the love of my life. The same said love of my life couldn’t protect me when the world was after me. Instead, he pushed me to the front of the battlefield. I stared at the ceiling like it was the most interesting thing in my life right now—well, actually it was. I had no zeal to put on the TV and watch some reality shows when I had no idea what could be going on with my daughter. What if Emily hurts her as a sign of her payback? What if she doesn’t give her food on time? So many ‘what-ifs’ crossed my mind, but I decided n

Gwen. “What are you planning to do Gwen?” Ryan asked pulling me from my thoughts. I peered at him and shook my head as I smiled, “Nothing much, I’m just going to claim what’s rightfully mine.”Ryan stared at me confused, I wouldn’t blame him though. Who wouldn’t be confused when he doesn’t understand a thing I am saying?“Can you try giving me a hint of what you’re talking about because I know you won’t explain no matter how much I beg you to?” He asked and I smiled gratefully at him. Ryan knew when to ask and when not to and at this point I wasn’t in the mood to explain anything. I nodded, “I have a little secret I’ve been keeping for a long time now but I think that it’s time for the world to know who I am.” I explained vaguely. Giving him just a little information about what I was planning to do. He’s looking at me strangely now but I won’t comment more than I have. At this point, I need to get back home and get my mother and father to forgive me, even if it means me crawling

Henry. I let out a sigh for the nth time today, since I woke up my day has been going shitty with Emily’s whines and nagging and now my day just got shittier by trying to get my little girl to eat. “Please Jas, just take a little bite from this food and daddy promise to get you any ice cream you want.” I begged. My hand has been hanging on the air for some minute now and I was getting tired of it. Jasmine wouldn’t take a single spoon of food from the cereal I prepared for her and it was truly getting frustrating. “I want mommy.” She muttered, then took her eyes from the little toy in her hand to mine. Her blue eyed peered into mine and I sighed. I don’t know how to explain this to her anymore, no matter how simple I try to place it she just wouldn’t stop asking for her mother. “Mommy isn’t here Jas now eat your food.” She stubbornly shook her head. “I won’t eat until I see mommy. I want mommy back daddy, please bring her back.” Her lips pouted as they started wobbling again, I

“I’ll be right back baby.” I pecked her chubby cheek, picked up the plate, and made my way to the kitchen. I heard loud heels clicking behind me and I rolled my eyes. I dropped the plate on the sink before turning the faucet on and letting the water pour on the plate. “You aren’t taking her to meet her mother right Henry?” Emily was beside me before I knew it. I let out a sigh and focused on washing the plate rather than speaking with her. “I’m talking to you Henry, you better reply!” She shouted another sigh and left me. “What do you want me to say, Emily?” I asked, turned the faucet off, and placed the washed plate on the rack. “Something like you just bluffing about daughter your daughter to meet her wretched mother, how about you tell me that Henry,” she replied angrily.I wiped my wet hands with the towel then dropped it on the wooden stand beside the sink, “You don’t have to put it that way, Emily. No matter how much trouble she’d cause the both of us, you shouldn’t forg

Gwen. I took another long drag of deep breath as I peered at the huge house before me for the nth time. This was it, I was here and all I needed right now was the courage to go in and meet them and that was something I was lacking right now—courage. I kept on asking myself through the ride if I was ready to meet them or if they would accept me back as their daughter and even with so much thought I was unable to come up with an answer. My head feels fussy by now. I glanced at my side and saw Ryan taking his time to check the place out, I knew he must have his questions. Because it wasn’t every day you saw someone who knew a person in the Blue Residential Area. This neighborhood was built for the rich and the elites and only those with big money and well known in the country were allowed to live here. “Are you sure this is the right place, Gwen?” Ryan finally asked after looking at the place over and over again. I hummed and said, “This is it.” He looked skeptical as he took the pl

Gwen. I turned slowly hoping that I wouldn’t see the person I was thinking about and I was just hallucinating that I heard her voice but how damn wrong am I. As I turned, I saw the ever so lovely-looking middle-aged woman dressed in a very tight dress that brought out her curves. This was my mother. Mother always has the notion that she was always young no matter how old she’s becoming. Age is nothing but numbers she will say and dress sexily than me who was in her twenties. I remembered our last meeting when Mother stood in the living room as Dad pushed me out, without looking at me or even making eye contact with me. But now here she was staring at me like I was the one important thing in her life...I thought they didn’t want me so why was she acting and looking this way?“Uhm, Gwen do you know her?” Ryan asked and I snapped from my thoughts. I wasn’t going there again, I am not going back to those days. Here I thought I should leave and come back some other day because I wa

Gwen. We stepped into the living room and in no time Mom called out my sisters. “Jade, Nina come see who we have here!” Mother called out excitedly as I let my eyes stay on the stairs because I knew that in no time the girls would be running downstairs to come to see what Mother was talking about. I have two sisters, Jade and Nina. Jade was the youngest of the three of us and Nina was the second child after me. Jade is thirteen this year while Nina is twenty-one, they were both cute little girls I loved playing with when I was still with them. But now I wonder if they would even come near me if they saw me. Ryan came to my side and held my hand in his as a sign of him comforting me. I smiled appreciatively at him. He just knew what I was thinking at the right time and now I was scared. I don’t know how my sisters were going to react if they saw me. “Don’t worry, it’s going to be fine,” Ryan whispers in my ear and I nod. It’s going to be fine. For someone who didn’t know what was

Gwen. Everything was just as I left them, I can’t believe Mom made sure the maids cleaned my room up even when I was not here. “Please don’t start crying over again Gwen. This is not the time to cry, I believe you have a lot to tell me right?” She asked and I nodded. Yeah, I do. I have a lot to tell them and I also need their help. If there was one person that could go against the Baldwins in court and any other places then that would be my father, Alexander Mars. This is the reason I’m back and now thinking about it, I feel so ashamed for coming back because of this. I didn’t come back because I missed them, I only came back because I wanted my father’s help. “I told you not to cry anymore Gwen, let’s have our seat,” she took my hand and led me to my bed. We took our seats and my eyes stayed glued on my lap, I found it to be the most interesting thing in the room. “How have you been Gwen?” Mom begins. “I’m doing fine Mom,” I said with a forced smile. “I don’t think so Gwen,

Epilogue. Henry. A little body jumped onto the king-size bed, waving the mattress and waking me up from the deep sleep that I had been engulfed in. The fucking hell. I need no one to tell me who it was. I snapped out of my sleep just as Gwen burrowed further beneath the comforter in her deep sleep. I tried to hold her before Nate jumped on the bed but yet again I was late. Jesus! He always do this every morning and I'm tired ot correcting him everytime. “Nate,” I called. “Papa, wake up, wake up,” Nathaniel sang jubilantly and then crawled towards me while dressed in his SpongeBob pajamas. It's his favorite pajamas. “It’s Saturday which means cake time, mommy. Wake up,” he said again but unknown to him, Gwen was too deep in his sleep to notice anyone. Crazy pregnancy brain. I swear. She wouldn't hear a thing. Also unknown to Nathaniel, he failed to notice the giant lumps of his twin under the comforter wrapped around Gwen’s body. I sighed when I caught the s

Calm down Gwen, you have gone through this before.Breathe in and out, breathe in and out.Yes, that’s it, you are doing fine……Argh.“Henry, please say something baby,” I called, hitting his hand.He blinked but

Gwen. One Week Later. It had been a week since Ryan died and everything had gone back together, even though he kinda spoiled my wedding, I was glad Henry and I did exchange our rings and vows before his appearance. It has been a week since we got married and I still can’t believe this fine man sleeping beside me was my husband. Again.I couldn’t get enough of him, he was too unreal to be this handsome. To me, it was a crime for someone to be this cute and handsome at the same time.I couldn’t take my eyes off him as he slept soundly beside me, it was day two of our honeymoon phase—yeah you heard that right, Henry wouldn’t let it go.He said he wanted an alone time with me in a different country and place so three days after our wedding and after Ryan’s death, we left the country for Maldives.Henry had already gotten the reservation and everything ready before coming, so it wasn’t difficult for us to settle down.I could remember how horny Henry was as soon as we entered our room, he

Gwen.“I have a question for you baby,” he started but I still didn’t look at him. He shouldn’t ask me anything when I’m still mad at him. Everything that happened today was a mess, though I have an idea about it that doesn’t mean I was ready for the drama Ryan was bringing with him.I wouldn’t lie that I wasn’t scared when he held me with that knife pointing at my neck, I was scared out of my mind that any movement would get me killed. I was scared but after seeing the reassuring look in Henry’s eyes I knew everything was going to be fine. More reason why I didn’t panic.“Tell me, apart from hearing your mother talk about Ryan, did you hear something else?” He asked and I kept quiet. When I noticed he wouldn’t stop asking until I answered I shook my head.“What if I told you that everything that happened today was planned?” He asked, dropping the bombshell.I froze after hearing that, he didn’t just say that.I couldn’t say anything, in fact, it felt like I couldn’t hear anything fro

Henry. The gunshot sounded in the room accompanied by Gwen’s scream and I watch, I watch with satisfaction how it went straight to the fucker and hit his chest. I rushed forward and held Gwen in my arms, protecting her from the bastard's blood. The loud thud of his body dropping on the ground and the heavy sound of a boot on the sand told me everything went well.I looked behind me and saw Ryan trying to catch his breath with his hand on his chest like he could stop the blood from coming out. I took my eyes off him as my men took him out.“Are you alright baby?” I asked, looking down at my wife who wasn’t moving in my arms.I pulled from the hug and stared at her, her eyes were open but she wasn’t saying anything.“Talk to me baby, are you alright?” I asked worriedly while searching her body for any injuries. I hissed when I saw a scratch on her neck, it must be from the knife.Gwen blinked and then as she had just snapped out of her thought she held my hand, staring at me with her be

Henry. “You want me right? Just me?” She asked and he smiled. No. “Now we are talking, yes I want you. You should know that for a long time now I have always wanted you even though you are already mine,” he said.I groaned as I flexed my jaw muscles. How delusional could one be to think someone who isn’t in love with him is his? He must be mad.“Right, then let them go and just take me,” she said.I blinked and looked at her in disbelief, she didn’t say what I think I just heard right?“Gwen…” I started only to get interrupted by her.“Take me instead and don’t hurt any of them,” I could feel my bliss boiling as I heard her repeat the same words. She shouldn’t agree to his terms, he was only above us because he was with a gun. I fear he would shoot if I decide to attack him and that is what I do not want. Someone might get hurt.Ryan paused, he did nothing, said nothing but only looked at Gwen with suspicious eyes.“You are being way too easy Gwen, tell me what do you have planned?

I know what she is thinking right now, she couldn’t believe he was here, and not only that he also had a gun.The whole place was completely quiet as Ryan took slow steps inside, he had a huge grin on his face while taking in everyone’s reaction.“Good day people, I bet you are all surprised to see me here?” He asked but no one answered.I glared at him while trying to bring my phone out discreetly. I quickly typed and sent a message on it after making sure he wasn’t looking.I slipped the phone back into my phone pocket after doing that.“It’s very rude of you guys not to invite me
