CHAPTER 310

Sophia’s POV

“Sophia, I’m so sorry I have to run.” There was a sense of urgency and anxiety in Elijah’s voice, but he probably didn’t want to add to my worries for now.

“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” I asked. It was weird how concerned I’ve become for him. It was even stranger that I felt we were a team somehow. Like a real couple.

Elijah squeezed my hand and smiled, but I could tell that there was something wrong. “I’ll tell you about it later, okay?”

I had no choice but to agree, hoping that everything was alright.

The house was quieter now, the echoes of our earlier laughter and conversation fading into a peaceful hush. Reese, exhausted from the day’s events, had drifted off to sleep shortly after dinner.
