Chapter 6

Brittany kept running along the sidewalk while the reporters chased after her, just then a black limo stopped few meters ahead of her and Cole stepped, he grabbed her immediately she got to the bus stop shoved her into the car.

Brittany was panting wildly as she looked out the car window.

“That was close! Have the reporters gone crazy? Why will they chase…” she looked away from

The window and her eyes met Cole’s cold stare he was seated facing her. She jumped back.

“Why are you here? Were you the one who shoved me into the car? Damn! You pervert let me out!” Brittany screamed.

“Okay…” Cole said casually and told the driver to stop.

The car screeched to a halt and Cole’s bodyguard opened the door.

“Why are you dropping me off here? What if the reporters come back? Take me to that woman from yesterday, I need to see her” Brittany ordered.

Cole sighed what stressful human being she was, he didn’t like her already. He signaled the driver to move, so the bodyguard closed the door.

Soon they arrived Rover Studios and Brittany followed Cole into Naya’s office. The smile on Naya’s face provoked anger within Brittany.

“You tricked me! Why didn’t you tell me we were not filming a commercial?” Brittany asked angrily.

Cole rolled his eyes and took a seat. While Brittany angrily paced the office.

“I never said it was a commercial, I told you Cole was getting married and the bride hadn’t shown up so I needed you as backup because you look like her you agreed to do it for the amount we agreed on” Naya narrated.

“Can we explain to the public that all this is fake? You guys ate ruining my life!” Brittany yelled.

“Maybe you should’ve thought about that before agreeing to do it… but all you thought about was money!” Cole said with a disgusted look on his face.

“Oh shut up this is all your fault, if you weren’t so annoying and pompous your fiancée wouldn’t have ditched you on your wedding day” Brittany snapped at him.

“Brittany can you sit down so we can have a discussion?” Naya said calmly.

Brittany pulled herself a seat and sat down tapping her feet impatiently “this better be about how I can get my life back on track”

“Brittany, there was a reason for the wedding it was to do a damage control for Cole and calm down media controversy about Cole wrecking fellow actor Sean’s home” Naya stated.

Brittany rolled her eyes at Cole then turned to Naya.

“Why didn’t you let me marry Sean then? I wouldn’t even care if it lasted only a minute”

“Sean is Married dummy” Cole chimed in.

“That’s it! I’m telling the world our marriage was staged!” Brittany threatened Cole.

“If you do that you’d have to refund our money” Naya cautioned her.

“What? So what do I do now? The media is keeping tabs on me” Brittany exclaimed.

“Actually that’s why I called you here… have a look at this” Naya handed her tablet to Brittany.

One headline read [Cole’s ‘wife’ spotted without her wedding band few minutes after wedding day] there was a photo of Brittany stopping a taxi.

Another read [could it all have been staged? Cole’s wife ejected from her apartment] there were pictures of Brittany pleading with her landlady while her belongings were scattered all over the place.

Brittany gasped. “Now my enemies can happily laugh at me, my business is all over the news” she handed the tablet back to Naya.

“This doesn’t just affect you, it affects Cole too and this agency and totally defeats the purpose for which we organized the wedding and paid you the money” Naya explained.

“Your loss” Brittany whispered back.

“During the wedding you guys signed a contract with Malorie’s events corporation” Naya revealed to them.

“What contract again? Don’t tell me l married this crazy woman without my knowledge” Cole cut in.

“The contract says that during the period of 8 months your relationship with each other must be drama free and rid of any media controversy, this is to help boost sales and make profit for her event hall and give it good PR… with the current news she might withdraw her investment which means you lose your money Brittany” Naya explained.

“Oh no, I can’t refund all of that cash, I’m in huge debt right now and…”

“Good… so you have to help us debunk all the lies on the internet… they’re not necessarily lies but we need to debunk them… we need to let the public think that you guys are actually married”

“Don’t tell me we’re doing another press conference” Cole yawned. “I’m not interested in issuing out another press statement either, I won’t do it”

“We’re not issuing out a press statement or holding a press conference, you guys need to pack your bags, we’re flying over to Magic Island resort, to have a photo shoot”

“What? Why?” Cole and Brittany exclaimed together.

“We need the photos so we can release them on the media and quiet down the rumors” Naya explained.

“That means more trouble for me” Brittany protested.

“Once you signed the contract you need to comply, I don’t need you guys to be in love or anything I just need to to make the public believe that you’re in love and really married even though you’re not”

“So get your bags packed we’re flying in a few hours”

“Well someone doesn’t need to pack up, because her bags are already outside” Cole mocked Brittany.

“Great! This is the perfect chance for the paparazzi to capture you taking your wife shopping!” Naya exclaimed happily.

Cole’s face dropped in disappointment at how his mockery had backfired on him.
