Lenka’s POV

A few days had passed since Michael told me about our parents.

I still felt uneasy, my mind restless over what he had said, as well as the feelings he had confessed—feelings I had rejected once again.

That man always made me feel this way.

He left me torn, wavering between my hatred for him and the remnants of what I once felt. And as for his so-called love for me all this time… I felt like I was being played.

Michael had been good to me. Once.

After my father died a gruesome death and I lost my voice, he was the only one who stayed by my side. The only one who came close to me, never leaving my side.

We spent so much time together that, for a while, I almost forgot the misery that had befallen me. Until we got married—and I decided to accept that woman’s help to finally leave him.

He should have never changed. But the man standing before me now was nothing like the one from back then.

Michael had become more open, yet he wasn’t forceful. He never listened to my words when

Lenka's POV“He’s… reopening his mother’s case?”Jonas raised an eyebrow, disbelief evident on his face. I had told him about Michael’s mother before, so he already knew what I was referring to.After all, my father had been the prime suspect in her murder—though later, he was killed in the same brutal manner.A familiar unease crept into my chest.I felt anxious. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but I couldn’t stop myself from wondering—what if Michael really managed to solve the case? What if my father’s name could finally be cleared? It all started with finding the person who had taken both Michael’s parents and my father’s life.It wouldn’t be easy.I nodded in response to Jonas’s question.“After I left, he had a lot on his mind.”“There was this restlessness, something unsettling after that. In the end, along with searching for me, he also began looking into how my father ended up accused of murdering his mother.”I took a deep breath.“He’s found some new evidence.”Jonas frow

Lenka’s POVTina had already opened my café.She informed me as soon as Jonas delivered the key while I was still at home. Some of the desserts I had prepared had already been taken to the café by that man, along with a supply of dough that my staff could bake immediately if the ready-made ones ran out.I had made some preparations in advance—something I didn’t usually do—but I still had no intention of going to work today.A sense of unease pressed against my chest, making it impossible for me to feel at ease about leaving. So, I decided to stay and relax.Felix was beside me.He had woken up earlier, searching for me when he didn’t find me in the bedroom. But then, he fell back asleep on the living room sofa, hugging his favorite stuffed toy.I let him be.I had taken a blanket from my child’s room so he could sleep more comfortably before moving the freshly made toast onto the living room table, placing a cup of milk coffee beside it.He didn’t wake up at all. Maybe he was still lo

Lenka's POVWhat did this man do to end up looking so battered?Did he get into a fight with another mafia? That question kept circling in my mind as I examined his face closely.Aside from the bleeding wound on his forehead, I could see a cut on the corner of his lips and a bruise forming on his cheek. I wasn’t sure about the rest of his body, but his clothes looked messy—though not dusty—and were stained with traces of blood.I frowned, another thought creeping into my mind as I noticed he was alone.Didn’t he have plenty of subordinates? Why was he personally involved in whatever happened instead of sending them?I had seen Michael like this before, though only from a distance. The only ones capable of doing this to him were rival mafias, not ordinary people.A rival mafia? My gaze darted around our surroundings in a rush before I instinctively grabbed his hand."Come inside."We stepped into the house, and I quickly shut the door behind us. Leading him to the sofa—right beside whe

Lenka’s POVEven though I had already treated that man and politely asked him to leave, he still shamelessly remained in my house, playing with Felix, who clearly liked him.My son looked happy. They had been playing chess seriously for several minutes, and the game ended with Michael’s victory. That man didn’t hold back at all, but that only made Felix even more curious about him.He asked about the strategies Michael used, how he could think of solutions so quickly, and whether he had ever played chess professionally before.Michael seemed to enjoy all the questions my son threw at him, answering them effortlessly.I let out a sigh.I didn’t like the fact that this man was still in my house, but at the same time, I didn’t want to dampen my son’s enthusiasm about him, especially since they were talking about something he loved. My son rarely got this excited when discussing things like this. Chess. Jonas and I could play with him, but we couldn’t teach him anything new, while his fri

Michael's POVI was already in front of the café, with Diego, who had come to pick me up earlier when I was outside Lenka's house. He hadn't said a word during the ride, but just as I was about to step out and see that woman, he stopped me in my tracks. His voice was firm."Sir, you should have told me right away about what happened to you. I am your right-hand man."I glanced at my reflection in the side mirror, seeing the bandages and the thin layer of ointment near my lips—the ones Lenka had applied when treating me. The wound wasn’t even that serious.I shrugged. "It's just a small injury."He kept staring at me, looking irritated."But, Sir, before I picked you up, you acted as if your injury was severe. Like it was something critical that needed immediate attention."I listened as he began recounting everything I had done to him in the past thirty minutes. How he had to rush over to pick me up even though he was in the middle of a meeting with the subordinates, nearly breaking t

Lenka’s POVI looked toward the table that was usually occupied by someone. Staring in silence, not fully aware of it myself.I always noticed that man’s gaze from the same table.Day after day, repeatedly, until it became a habit. Feeling his eyes follow me every time I served customers, made coffee, or prepared orders to go.That gaze was always there—until today.Only a day had passed since I last saw him."Miss Lenka, why have you been looking over there for so long?"I turned my head, seeing Tina suddenly asking me that. It caught me off guard. "Huh? What do you mean?"She observed me for a moment before pointing in the direction I had been staring at."You’ve been looking over there since the customers started arriving. One of the guests sitting at that spot eventually moved because they felt uncomfortable."I frowned, unsure. "Really? I wasn’t even aware…."I had been looking there without much thought. No, I was thinking about something—but that only made me feel more unsettle

Lenka's POVI had already put Felix to sleep, keeping him company by reading one of the new books he had just bought and acting out parts of the story with my voice and hand gestures. He seemed to enjoy it, laughing and mimicking my voice, until, without realizing it, he had fallen asleep midway through the book. His breathing was steady, and his eyes were tightly shut.It wasn’t like him to fall asleep before reaching the end of a story. Maybe I had made him work too hard while helping clean up the café.He had been so enthusiastic about helping that he became the life of our little gathering.I gently stroked his hair, watching his face for a moment before placing a soft kiss on his forehead. Pulling the blanket up to his shoulders, I patted him lightly.“Sleep well, Felix.”I stepped out of his room, intending to head to mine and rest, but Jonas was still awake. He was in the living room, sipping wine, and when he saw me, he raised his glass. “Want a drink?”I nodded, walking towar

Anonymous’s POVI walked into the dimly lit space, where the lighting was sparse. A secret place. This place gave me a sense of calm. There wasn’t much furniture—just a single chair, a table, and a set of tools placed deliberately beside it, serving as storage for anything I might need.I pulled the chair closer and sat down.My gaze shifted to the wall nearby. There, several photographs were arranged meticulously, each accompanied by brief pieces of information. All the lines connected in some way, though some stood apart. If counted, I had erased and redrawn many lines over time, removed and replaced countless photos. Yet, one photo had remained on this wall for years.A man who had disrupted my enjoyment. He appeared at a critical moment and nearly drove me to frustration.George.His name suited him perfectly. As a man devoted to justice and prone to meddling, the death he received was well deserved.I had restored my plans to their original course with his demise and erased every

LenkaDuring my two-year marriage with this man, I thought our relationship as husband and wife was just to channel lust.I saw Michael's face was so dark, he didn't make a sound or kiss my lips. Doing it quite clearly without wanting to listen to what I felt—even a little bit.Yes, he used to do that to me. Very cold and after that he would leave me. He never turned around and just kept quiet. I thought there was something wrong with me, because I was not like a normal woman, I was just like a statue that couldn't make a sound. It was a marriage that was so bland and cruel. A nightmare.Very different from what I feel now. This time, he did it more gently, I felt very comfortable with every touch he did, every breath he breathed that touched me made me tense.I can feel right away if he wants me that much. He was on top of me, holding both of my hands with one hand. Besides my heartbeat that was so fast, I could hear his heartbeat also very fast when his chest accidentally touched my

Lenka:Lenka"If you can do it, I’d be really happy to hear it."Michael spoke firmly, not wanting to lose this chance. It was clear from his eyes that he longed to hear Felix call him dad.Felix snorted and tilted his head slightly, his eyes shifting to the side."If you want me to do it, there’s a condition. Not everything comes easily, right?"He managed to surprise us, but I felt proud of what Felix did—he understood negotiation. This would only make him even more remarkable.Michael looked at him seriously, taking on the demeanor of someone negotiating with a grown man. They stared each other down."Then, what do I have to do so you’ll call me dad?"His voice was calm, waiting to hear Felix’s terms first. But what came next was something I didn’t expect. From the mouth of a small child came words full of care that warmed my heart."I want you to never hurt Mom again."His eyes glistened with tears as he stared firmly, trying his best to stay strong. The mood turned serious. That

LenkaHe was shocked, but I maintained my stance. He seemed not to understand what I was saying, and that made me frustrated with this man."I know you must have intentionally shown Felix our wedding photo."Michael fell silent. He now understood what I meant, and then he tried to speak to me with soft eyes."I placed that photo after you left the house. A few years ago."It was so long ago, and to me, it didn’t seem possible. Because wasn’t it too soon for him to show such a different reaction?"When he was playing in my office, I didn’t have time to hide it, and yes, you’re right in thinking that." He continued to stare at me, his eyes looking honest, but I didn’t want to believe him just like that. "I did it on purpose. I thought maybe this was a good chance for him to know what happened between us.""You always act recklessly, Michael." I stood up, looking at him firmly.Although Felix could accept it, I felt like this man didn’t respect me, and even his actions of making decision

Lenka"Does Mom have a relationship with Uncle Michael?"Felix's question made me look at him immediately. It felt like a sudden shock that left me frozen for a few seconds before I managed to smile faintly.Right now, it was just the two of us in the room, reading books. A calm time with an atmosphere that felt safer than before. I wanted to give Felix a relaxing time. But I didn’t expect him to ask such a surprising question."Michael?"Felix smiled. "Mom, this is Uncle Michael's house. But do you know what I found yesterday when I was playing with him in his study?"His mature way of speaking made me realize that Felix had really grown up well. He was now able to talk about what was on his mind. And it made me grip the book tighter, waiting for what he was about to say."I saw a wedding photo of you and Uncle Michael there."My heart was suddenly struck by his words. I didn’t know anything about that, and he had just mentioned it.Michael still kept our wedding photo. Even when I s

LenkaI still remembered this place well—walking around this large house. The guards who saw us didn’t stop what I was doing.Several times, Felix was drawn to them, squinting his eyes out of curiosity.“Mom, will they get mad?”I shook my head. That was one of Felix’s questions. Then he spoke again. “Mom, who exactly is Uncle Michael?”That was a particularly difficult question to answer. I didn’t want to suddenly tell him that Michael was his father, or that Michael was a mafia boss. Neither of those seemed like the right answer for now.So, I gave him a different explanation. “Michael is a boss. He’s very successful—you can even find him on the internet.”I thought about it. The way he’s presented himself to people all this time could be used to explain things to Felix.“I want to see him later, Mom.”“Of course.”We continued our walk, taking in this enormous house. Felix stopped in front of a large painting—flowers and a woman. It reminded me of what I’d done before. When I first

LenkaWe managed to arrive here without any problems, thanks to the tight security and a secretive journey.I felt so relieved by the attention he gave, and I swear there was absolutely no difference in the house I had left more than seven years ago.Everything looked just like the last time I saw it, though I noticed more new faces among the servants. The current situation felt strange to me.Everyone I met treated me with remarkable politeness, and yet, I still felt uncomfortable.Eventually, Michael laid Felix down on the bed and saw me sitting on the sofa near it.“You can relax now, Lenka. Just try to make yourself comfortable.” He looked at me, approaching slowly as he tried to touch my hand.I was sure he still had concerns that his touch might make me uncomfortable. But I didn’t resist or show any sign of rejection toward what he was trying to do.Michael then left. I saw Diego waiting for him, and it seemed like he had a lot of work to do. Meanwhile, I stayed in the room to w

I enjoyed the time spent with them, listening to Felix’s loud and cheerful laughter. Watching everything and hearing all the compliments Felix gave about the dish I made.Michael kept glancing at me, and he also praised the food I cooked. And quite quickly, we had indeed started to mend our relationship.I realized that he, too, was a victim who had made mistakes. I wasn't as harsh as I used to be, and now, here he was, sitting across from me.His eyes were filled with worry, as if afraid he might make another mistake. So, I set down my glass, intending to start a light conversation to ease the mood. But that simple action caught his attention, making him alert. The man cleared his throat, not just to clear it—but to calm himself down.Okay, it’s not that tense.“Michael, so we’re leaving this place tomorrow?”I brought up the previous conversation. With Felix’s condition improving, we would leave this place to better protect ourselves. Michael had said that if an attack happened here

LenkaI'm relieved because we managed to get through a truly overwhelming storm. Felix is able to do his usual activities again and looks cheerful.Felix caught the ball that Michael had just thrown, but he didn’t give it back. He intended to run off with the ball, and Michael, who was chasing him, deliberately slowed his steps, which were usually long. When he finally caught up with Felix, my sweet child tried to keep Michael from reaching the ball he was holding tightly. The laughter that erupted from both of them made me so happy. That’s why I stayed sitting quietly, watching them, even though it had been twenty minutes. The sound of footsteps stopping next to me made me glance over. The man was Diego, and I let him stay here and observe the same scene."You seem happier than before," he remarked. It hadn't been that long, so the memory was still fresh in my mind. It felt like a punishment for me, and Jonas's rude actions made me so angry, and I think that, for this time, killing s

JonasThose bastards couldn’t even do their jobs properly. If they had, I never would’ve lost Lenka and Felix. Those fools don’t deserve to live their lives anymore. Now I’ve lost the result of all my hard work—just when I was about to finally have it all. And it’s all because of Michael. He’s the only one capable of pulling this off, and after he intervened, I had to cover my tracks quickly and make preparations to take back what’s rightfully mine.“The Noctis…”I crushed the pastry in my hand into crumbs and dropped it—useless.“You did it, didn’t you?” the woman’s voice was sharp and irritating.I looked up at her. A cheap woman, just like the other trash who dares speak in front of me. I stared at her coldly.“If you hadn’t saved her, all of this would’ve gone smoothly,” she said, her eyes flicking slightly to the side.I threw the glass, hitting her right in the forehead. Her scream—long and startled—was met only with my cold gaze.“Who do you think you are, daring to lay a hand
