Late night suspicious call

“Charlotte! Wake up!”

Her eyelids flutter as Edward's soft but insistent voice pulls her from sleep. She stirs beside him, having spent the entire night taking care of him.

“Mm? Are you okay? What's wrong?” she gasps, panic setting in as she scans the dimly lit room, her vision still blurry from sleep.

“Don’t panic. I’m fine,” Edward reassures her in a soothing tone.

“Then why? Are you hungry? Should I reheat the porridge?” she asks, stifling a yawn and rubbing her tired eyes.

“I’m sorry, but I need to eat something right now. I haven’t had anything all day!” His voice carries a note of guilt. He had tried to hold back from waking her up, wishing he could have managed on his own. But it wasn’t feasible in his condition, and he didn’t want to cause Charlotte more trouble.

“Okay. I’ll prepare something for you. You should stay still. Don’t move. The fever has finally gone,” she says, pressing her hand gently on his forehead and then comparing it to her own to gauge the temperature.
