"Aaron Knight can." He replied. "It's your's now."

Her throat tightened again, but this time, she didn’t look away.

“Thank you, Aaron,” she said softly.

Aaron pushed himself up from the swing and held out his hand to her. “Come on. There’s one more thing I want to show you.”

Lily hesitated for just a second before slipping her hand into his. His grip was firm, warm, and steady-the kind of touch that felt safe. Maybe it really was the truth-she was safe with him.

As they walked across the rooftop, side by side, Lily realized something; the storm in her mind hadn’t disappeared, but for the first time in a long while, it felt… quieter, like the voices had gone for a power nap.

And maybe, just maybe, that was enough for now and she was grateful for it.

Lily’s hand stayed tucked in Aaron’s as he led her across the rooftop. His grip was firm and warm. They walked in silence, their footsteps soft against the weathered stone floor, the faint sound of distant traffic blending with the breez

Lily ran her fingers over the worn cover, the leather warm under her touch. “Thank you, it means a lot.” she whispered. Aaron nodded once before leaning back against the alcove wall, his eyes drifting closed as the sunlight warmed his face. Lily stayed where she was, clutching the journal tightly in her hands. For the first time in what felt like forever, the storm inside her didn’t feel so suffocating. Aaron saw her worthy of this journal-last gift from his grandmother. And as she glanced sideways at Aaron-this man who carried his own scars but still found ways to help her breathe-she realized something. Maybe healing wasn’t about finding a cure. Maybe it was about finding someone who made the weight a little easier to carry. Here’s the next chapter, continuing the emotional depth and exploring the growing connection between Lily and Aaron. The rooftop had become a fragile cocoon, shielding them from the noise of the world below. Time felt suspended, the morning sun rising high

  • My Cold Husband    Strolling Through

Aaron’s expression sobered slightly as his silver eyes locked onto hers. “You learn because you’ve had to. Because no one was there to do it for you, so you want to do it for someone else." The weight of his words hung between them, heavy but honest. "Empathy." Lily said before sipping the hot chocolate. "Yes, but this is not empathy...it's not just empathy." Aaron's eyes bore into Lily's and she held them for two seconds before dropping her gaze to the mug of hot chocolate in her hand. They sat there for a while, sipping their hot chocolate and letting the warmth settle into their bones. Lily found herself studying Aaron-his sharp jawline, the faint crease between his brows, the way his lips curled ever so slightly when he caught her staring, how he sipped his hot chocolate and how his adam's apple moved when he swallowed it. “Thank you,” she said softly. Aaron looked up, tilting his head slightly. “For looking charming?” Lily's lips curled slightly "Shut up." “For… e

The walk to the bookstore was shorter than she expected. Nestled between two larger buildings, its faded sign read "Willow’s Nook.” A small bell chimed as they stepped inside, and the scent of old paper and polished wood greeted them. The librarian was a small lady with a bob cut and cat eyed glasses, probably in her fifties. The space was cozy, with narrow aisles lined with overflowing shelves and dim lamps casting a warm glow. It felt like stepping into another world, one untouched by time.Aaron guided her to a section near the back, where mismatched armchairs sat tucked in a corner. “This is the best spot,” he said with a grin. Lily wandered over to a nearby shelf, running her fingers along the spines of old books. Aaron watched her. Minutes passed, but the silence wasn’t uncomfortable. Lily finally pulled a worn poetry book from the shelf, her eyes scanning the faded gold lettering on the cover. When she looked up, Aaron was watching her from across the aisle, a faint smile pl

Clara rolled her eyes. “If he hasn’t already reorganized the spice rack alphabetically, I’ll be shocked.”A soft chuckle escaped Lily’s lips despite the heaviness in her chest, and Aaron offered his hand to help her up. She took it hesitantly, her smaller hand fitting into his larger one."Dont you think he's a bit robot like?" Clara asked scrunching her nose."A bit?" Lily asked raising her brows at Clara. In the kitchen, Damian was leaning against the counter, a steaming mug of coffee in hand. He glanced up when they entered, his usual stoic expression softening just slightly. Clara marched in ahead of them, opening the refrigerator door. “Alright, chef Aaron, what’s on the menu?”Aaron walked over to the stove, his tie slightly loosened now. “Damian, did you cook anything or just stand there intimidating the toaster?” Damian raised an unimpressed brow. “I made coffee. You’re welcome.”Clara let out a snort, pulling out a carton of eggs. “Alright, coffee king, move aside. Aaron, y

"Chocolate." He showed her, his now chcolate covered thumb."Thanks." She said before breaking the eye contact."It was a pleasure." when Lily looked up at him, he was already staring at her-like he was piercing his gaze into her's. There was something about it.Clara began clearing some of the mess, humming softly to herself. For a brief moment, everything felt...simple. Like the outside world and its looming threats couldn’t reach them here. But outside the window, hidden beneath the overcast sky, a car rolled slowly past the building. Its tinted windows concealed whoever sat inside, watching. And just as quietly as it had appeared, it disappeared down the street. But not unnoticed.Damian’s sharp eyes followed it until it was out of sight, his hand tightening subtly around the edge of the counter. The peace was temporary-a fragile bubble on the edge of bursting. But for now, inside the warmth of the kitchen, laughter still lingered in the air. Lily took her own cup, her hands trembling slightly as she lifted it to her lips.Clara sat beside her again, her voice soft. “Sweetheart, I know this is hard. But you'll be safe. Trust me, I know Aaron, he wont let anything happen to you. Ever."Lily nodded, though the fear gnawed at the edges of her mind. No matter how many cameras or precautions they set up, she couldn’t shake the feeling that danger was already here, lurking just beyond their walls.Aaron’s voice broke the silence. “We’ll handle this. We’ll find out who they are and stop them before they can come any closer.”His words were firm, resolute. But as the night settled around them and shadows stretched across the floor, Lily couldn’t help but wonder if it would be enough. The night stretched on, heavy and silent. The faint ticking of the clock on the wall was the only sound breaking the stillness of the apartment. "I guess, I'm smarter than all of them then." Lily replied earning a shrug from Damian.Damian had picked up a book from the library. Their conversation carried on in between-about his experience in the Navy and several other curious questions from Lily. They weren’t talking loudly, their voices hushed, but there was an easiness to their interaction.Aaron stepped into the library, his sharp silver eyes immediately spotting them. His gaze lingered on Lily’s faint smile and the relaxed way she leaned slightly toward Damian as he spoke. Something cold and sharp twisted in his chest. His polished shoes clicked against the wooden floor as he strode over. Both Lily and Damian looked up at the same time.“Mr. Knight,” Damian greeted, his voice neutral.Aaron’s gaze flicked between them before locking onto Damian. “Don’t you have something better to do than sit here chatting, Damian?”The words cut through the quiet air, laced with authority and something sharper-something possessive.Damian

He stepped forward, making Lily step backward until the cold wall hit her back, Aaron lowered her head towards her and rested his hand on the wall beside Lily."Are you playing dumb, love?" he asked, his voice raspy and deep.No words escaped Lily's throat."I just..I would like a direct answer, please." she finally said, almost like ordering a coffee.“No. I wasn’t jealous of a mere bodyguard-but if you’re asking me…yes, I envied whatever he said that managed to pull even the faintest smile from you. But it’s more than that, Lily. I’m jealous of every single breath you take because it’s unshared. I can’t feel it, can’t claim even a fragment of it. That’s why I stay close, why I hover around you more than I should-because it’s the only way I can steal even a sliver of your world.” He pushed a strand of her hair away from her eyes."Was that direct enough, love?" He asked looking into her hazel eyes.Without responding Lily pushed him-not too hard, and fled from there as fast as she

  • My Cold Husband    Thoughts Interrupted

Lily leaned against the armrest of the couch, her legs curled beneath her as she mindlessly scrolled through her phone. The television played softly in the background, its colors casting a faint glow across the room. It had been a long day of tension and subtle shifts, the evening was quiet and Lily had came back from college tired. She hadn’t seen Aaron since yesterday, and part of her was grateful for the reprieve. But another part of her-a part she didn’t want to acknowledge-missed his presence. Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. She glanced up to find Aaron standing in the doorway, his tie loosened and the sleeves of his shirt rolled up to his elbows. His hair was slightly disheveled, something that stirred something inside Lily's stomach.“Relaxing?” he asked, his voice breaking the silence.Lily nodded, setting her phone aside. “Trying to. What about you? No big deals to close tonight?”Aaron smirked faintly as he stepped into the room. “Not ton

  • My Cold Husband    Weight Of Unspoken Words

Lily shifted on her feet, avoiding his eyes. “Why wouldn’t I?”A small, humorless smile tugged at his lips. “Because you’ve been avoiding me all day.”“Whatever, I haven't,” she said quickly, but the defensive edge in her voice gave her away.Aaron pushed off the desk, taking a slow step toward her. “You have, Lily.”Her breath hitched, and she took a step back, only to realize she was already at the door. Trapped. “I just... I needed space, okay?”“From me?” he asked, his voice low, almost a whisper. Her gaze flickered to his, and the raw vulnerability in his eyes made her chest tighten. “I don’t know,” she admitted quietly.Aaron closed the remaining distance between them, his hand coming up to rest lightly against the doorframe beside her. “Lily, if I’ve done something to make you uncomfortable-”“You didn’t,” she cut him off, her words tumbling out too quickly. She hesitated, her eyes dropping to the floor. “It’s not you. It’s me. I just... don’t know how to deal with any of this.

She didn’t have an answer for that, and he took another step closer, the space between them growing smaller and smaller. Before the tension could escalate further, Damian appeared in the doorway. “Mr. Knight, the car is ready.”Aaron sighed, glancing at Lily one last time before nodding at Damian. Lily watched as he straightened his jacket and adjusted his cuffs. “Is this a deja vu?” she asked, surprising even herself with the question.“I found out my meeting would be late so I could use some time here.” he said casually."What? 15 minutes?" Lily made an 'are you serious' face.Aaron paused, his hand on the doorframe. He turned to her, his gaze softening. “Wanted to spend more time.”And with that, he was gone. It was so childish of him, Lily thought.Lily spent most of the day trying to focus on her classes and assignments, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Aaron. His words, his touch, his presence-they were like a storm she couldn’t escape, no matter how hard she tried.Back

  • My Cold Husband    Tense Encounters

They sat in silence for a few moments, the tension between them thick enough to cut with a knife. Lily reached for a piece of toast, her movement causing her shorts to ride up slightly. She noticed Aaron’s gaze shift again-brief, almost imperceptible, but it was there.“You’re awfully quiet this morning, why did you request my presence?” Lily said, her voice light as she buttered her toast.Aaron’s lips twitched into a faint smile, though his eyes remained guarded. “Just for breakfast.""And why so quiet?" "Just thinking." he replied.“About?” she prompted, tilting her head.He set his coffee mug down, leaning forward slightly. “About how you seem very comfortable this morning.”Lily raised an eyebrow, pretending not to catch his meaning. “I slept well. Is that a problem?”“Not at all,” Aaron said smoothly, though his voice had dropped a notch. He studied her for a moment longer before leaning back in his chair again, the picture of composure-except for the way his fingers tapped res

  • My Cold Husband    Closing In But Moving Away

His gaze locked onto hers, a mixture of mischief and something deeper swirling in his blue eyes. “Goodnight, Lily,” he said softly, his voice carrying a warmth that made her knees feel weak.“Goodnight,” she managed to whisper, her voice barely audible.Aaron straightened but didn’t step away. His gaze lingered on her for a heartbeat longer before he finally turned, walking toward his office. As he disappeared down the hallway, Lily raised a hand to her cheek, her skin still tingling where his lips had been. Her thoughts were a chaotic swirl of confusion and longing. She couldn’t deny the pull she felt toward Aaron, but she also couldn’t shake the fear of what it all meant.Back in his room, Aaron sat on his bed after throwing his coat on it. He ran his hand through his hair as the realisation once again hit him:Lily Sterling was undoing him piece by piece. She had a way of breaking through the walls he had carefully built, making him crave things he had long since convinced himself

  • My Cold Husband    Complex Feelings

“I’m fine,” she said quickly, too quickly.Damian didn’t press further, but Lily caught the subtle raise of his eyebrow. She sipped her tea, wishing the awkwardness of the moment would dissipate. As if on cue, Clara walked in, her cheerful presence instantly lightening the atmosphere.“Lily! You’re finally out of your room. I was starting to think you’d moved in there permanently,” Clara teased, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl.Lily forced a laugh. “Just needed some time to myself.”“Well, Aaron’s not here, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Clara added with a knowing smirk.Lily froze mid-sip. “Why would I be worried about that?”Clara shrugged, her smirk widening. “Oh, no reason. You just seemed a little... flustered last night.”Lily’s cheeks burned. She avoided Clara’s gaze, focusing intently on her tea.Damian cleared his throat, clearly uncomfortable with the conversation. “Mr. Knight mentioned he would be returning late tonight. He asked me to remind you not to wait up

  • My Cold Husband    Intense Moments

Aaron tilted his head slightly, his lips brushing her temple in a featherlight touch that made her heart stutter. “Tell me to stop, and I will.” She swallowed hard, the words forming but never leaving her mouth. Did she want him to stop? Did she even know what she wanted anymore? When she didn’t answer, Aaron took it as permission, his lips ghosting down to her cheek, then to her jawline. Each touch sent shivers coursing through her, a warmth pooling in the pit of her stomach that she couldn’t ignore. Lily’s hands rested against his chest, her fingers curling slightly into his shirt as if to steady herself. The tension was suffocating, but in the most exhilarating way. “Aaron,” she finally managed to say, her voice barely audible. “Hmm?” His mouth lingered near the corner of her lips, tantalizingly close yet not quite there. “I don’t know what we’re doing,” she admitted, her honesty cutting through the haze between them. Aaron paused, pulling back just enough to meet her

  • My Cold Husband    Aaron's Study

Lily turned toward Aaron, startled, the glass in her hand trembling slightly. “Do you always have to sneak up on people like that?”Aaron raised a brow, stepping into the kitchen with that quiet confidence that always seemed to unnerve her. “I wasn’t sneaking. You were too lost in thought to notice me.”She rolled her eyes, setting the glass down. “What do you want, Aaron?”“To check if you’ve finished sulking over your book,” he teased, leaning against the counter across from her.Lily huffed but couldn’t fight the faint smile tugging at her lips. “I wasn’t sulking. I was... processing.”“Processing?”“Yes. Processing how someone as insufferable as you managed to take over the living room and turn it into your makeshift office when you have your own study,"Aaron chuckled, his eyes glinting. “The study wont have you, but if you dont like my company, you're welcome to leave and occupy my study instead.”Lily narrowed her eyes, grabbing a dishcloth and tossing it at him. “You’re unbeli

Lily nearly choked, coughing as she set her sandwich down. “He’s just...a family friend. I told you.”Maya raised a skeptical brow. “Right. Family friend who looks at you like you’re the only person in the room? Sure.”Lily groaned, burying her face in her hands. “It’s not like that.”“Whatever you say,” Maya teased, nudging her playfully.Later during the break, Aaron joined Lily in the courtyard. He had skipped one of his classes to take a call, but his focus was now entirely on her.“You’re handling this well,” he commented, handing her a bottle of water.“Handling what?”“The stares. The whispers. The attention.”Lily shrugged, though the weight of it was something she couldn’t deny. “I’ve learned to ignore it. Besides, I think most of the attention is because of you.”Aaron smirked, his confidence infuriatingly intact. “Can you blame them?”Before she could respond, a familiar voice called out. “Lily!”She turned to see one of her friends approaching, a wide grin on her face.
